Davian made his way towards the Wyvern stables in search of Misty. He felt bad that he didn't have time to check on everyone after the new of Jacob's death. He checked on his Mercenaries, who are as well as they can be given everything they had to deal with as well as the news of Amara's death. He was informed of the situation of the mercenaries who remained in Emnet and was relieved nothing befell them. Even still the loss of an ally can be difficult, he decided to give Etney and Vic some time alone to grieve before he decided to talk to them again, he felt it wasn't his place to be the one to comfort them when he hasn't been part of their lives as long as Jacob. His thought then came to Misty, he hasn't heard from her since the day before she left for Emnet and decided to check up on her.

As he arrived at the stables, he saw Symphora, he smiled as he took out a fish for her.

"Hey there Symph, it's been a while hasn't it?"

He offered her the food as he gently pat her head

"Just thought I'd hang out here while I wait for Misty, it's been rather hard to find people in this city, hasn't it?"

He sighed as he looked to the sky with a smile

"This certainly brings back memories of when you two were part of the Brigade, you two were certainly a boon. Funny how fate brought us together, how connected our roads ended up being."

He sat in front of the Wyvern and chuckled

"Funny how we all ended up here, together again. I just wished it was under better circumstances than a war."

He continued to feed Symphora, aware that he was spoiling her, but he couldn't help but smile.
Mistral ran a hand through her hair as she followed the already familiar route to the wyvern enclosures, almost swaying as she twisted around turns and bends--matching the movement of the Atlas as it shifted on the open water.

However, she paused for a moment upon realizing their were other noises coming from the pen she was approaching--a voice that was quite different than the croons and clicks that were normally associated with the wyvern. A voice that was quite familiar.

She leaned into the entrance to the pen, a small smile on her face.

"Well. Spoiling the wyvern, are we? You know I've been trying quite hard to keep her from gaining weight." She tilted her head, her slightly shaggier-than-normal hair once again falling into her face only to be blown aside with a quick upward puff of air. However, her eyes still possessed that almost always present twinkle. "Though I clearly need to be less predictable. There's been two men waiting for me with Sym over the past day."
Davian shrugged and smiled

“Can’t help it, she gives me those puppy eyes so I can’t help but want to giver her what she wants.”

He tied the sack of fishes and set them aside

“Seems like the two men are aware of the love and bond you have with Symphora. Plus she’s not walking around town, it’s the most logical and easiest way to catch you.”

He stood up and approached his good friend with a sad smile

“Just thought I check up on you given everything that’s happened, we didn’t have much opportunity to talk since we came back.”

When he got close, he gave her a tight hug

“....I’m glad you’re back...”
Mistral blinked as Davian embraced her, but without missing a beat she gave the young man a tight squeeze in return. "Same to you, love," she said, before releasing the hug and taking a small step back.

Her voice had rapidly transitioned to the softer, quieter tone upon picking up the mood in Davian's voice, and she let a hand rest on his shoulder for a moment as she gave it another, reassuring squeeze.

"I'm sorry about Amara. I didn't get the opportunity to say as much, given the circumstance."
He looked to the ground clenching his first, though it wasn’t as intense, especially when he remembered what his friends needed him to work on.

“I appreciate your condolences.....she....she didn’t deserve what had happened to her. Just like Oliver, her life was cut too short. Both were my responsibility and I couldn’t save them.”

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, preventing himself from falling back to his bad habits. When he calmed himself, he looked to Misty with a sad smile. Feeling disappointed in himself that he almost lost his composure

“It never gets easy, but I didn’t come to talk about myself, I apologize.”

He place a hand on her shoulders

“How are you feeling? I’m sure the loss of Jacob must have affected you in some way.”
For a moment, Mistrals pupil's quivered, rapidly contracting and dilating a fraction of a millimeter as her gaze flickered down to Davian's clenched fist and then back to the young mercenary's face. Then she returned the sad smile.

"Jacob was a good man, but he didn't break. Not once. And he can rest knowing that was the case," she replied with a small sigh. "It was harder to see Vic. She didn't get to see him again until after."

The woman ran a hand through her hair, and released another puff of breath as she placed her other hand on her hip. "Truthfully, it made me realize just how easily that could have been Ven, for as selfish as that is."
Davian returned the sad smile

“Of course he did, in the short time I’ve known him, I’ve learned that he’s one tough son of a bitch.”

He looked down at the mention of Vic, he wanted to know more about her, but he knew now wasn’t the best time to talk to her. He shook his head at her comment about her selfishness.

“It’s not selfish, you’re concerned about your family. I’m in that same boat as well, Misty, I’m afraid of losing my family. Rictor, Delia, Jon, Sylvia, Jolene, Nate, the Brigade......Piper.... they’ve all been dragged into this war one way or another and I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to them because of this conflict.”

He winced at the thought, but a fire grew in his eyes the more he thought about it and remembering what his loved ones have said to him and what’s needed of him.

“But knowing this, I’ve been determined to win this war. So those that those we’ve lost and what we’ve sacrificed are not in vain.”
