An unusual group strode across the barren landscape of Mor Dhona. An Elezen in fine garb with a regal air, accompanied by two Hyur and two Miqo'te, each with unusual armor and armaments. At the center of the group was a third Miqo'te, whose garb suggested that she might be a pilot, or a captain of an airship, perhaps. It was an unusual group, even to the drunkest of laypersons, but at the minimum, this group had one thing in common - one particular thought.
"Man, this is awkward."
Awkwardness cut through the silence of the group like a turtle with a butter knife and nothing left to lose. Lord Seventus, while sure of the tactical advantages of this clever ploy, was regretting the one flaw of it - why had he parked their transportation from the exchange point so far away? Sure, it was a safety precaution; best not let the Knights know where the airship was to avoid some sort of dashing counter-rescue operation, the kind of stunt that a heroic and handsome, yet foolish rogue might pull.
Seventus's sigh broke the silence. "...Emile." he whispered, absentmindedly.
"My lord?" inquired Lethe dutifully?
"Nothing of consequence." he responded quickly. Seventus hastily moved to fill the silence to avoid inquiry. "So, Twila. Is there anything that I can have the staff get for you to make your stay more comfortable?"
"Freedom would be nice." replied the peach-haired catgirl curtly.
Without even looking back at her, Seventus made a sound akin to that which a homeowner would make if that had seen a morbol just leave their freshly-stocked pantry. His hand massaged his temples.
Athena chimed in. "That was wholly unneccessary. Your group was the one that proposed this whole arrangement, after all. Lord Seventus was showing you kindness and respect, 'twould be unfair not to return it."
"The Severance Project wants to kill my mother. It potato'd my brother's boyfriend and has active ambitions to potato some of my other magical friends. So, sorry if I'm not in a super respectful mood, but I'll sure to add some pleases and thank yous next time." said Twila, dryly.
Thanatos looked away at that. "Hostagewhosemomisatraitorsayswhat?" he coughed out quickly.
Twila didn't catch what he said but assumed it was about her. "What was that?" she challenged.
Thanatos didn't answer her, instead opting to exchange a high five and a chuckle with Nemesis.
"That's enough, all of you." said Seventus, sternly yet without raising his voice. "Squabbling is beneath all of us."
The silence, having been evicted so suddenly, now moved back in, viciously and without a security deposit. After trudging along for a few moments more, Seventus was secretly hoping that someone would say something. He could feel stares on his back.
Surprisingly, it was Nemesis that answered his wish. "So, Twila." began the Miqo'te. "Do you have any hobbies?"
She thought for a moment. "I do enjoy piloting and repairing airships. Chess, when I have the time."
A slight smile formed on Seventus's face. He was filled with hope that maybe this would be fairly peaceful arrangement after all. Perhaps now he wo-
"...also, thwarting the evil machinations of the Severance Project."
The smile on his face and the air in his lungs both evacuated Seventus like a horde of goblins who had just been told there was a sale on gobbiecheese. It occurred to him that perhaps, though short in duration, this might be the longest walk of his life.
"I should have selected the one known as Mercer." he lamented under his breath. "According to his dossier, a wooden gunblade and a satchel of bubble chocolate would have been all that was needed."
"Sir?" inquired Lethe with concern.
"Nothing, I just...hope Ajax is faring well."

Meanwhile, malms away...
"Care for a drink, saaavvvyyy~?" inquired a Miqo'te with a sly grin and a swishing tail.
"Th-th-that's some st-sturdy looking armor y-y-you have. Wh-what's it made o-o-out of?" asked a jester without a mask.
"The way it repelled Xenkei, it must be made of uninterested women!" laughed a laughing mountain.
"Should you require anything, let us know and we shall provide it for you, if we are able." offered the interdimensional tactician.
"Are we best friends now?" asked Rick Mercer, hopefully.
Ajax stood taller than most of the crowd, and appeared bemused. With a grin appearing on his face, he uttered a whisper.
"This is going to be the best beach trip ever."
