"Hah! Oh man, that's a good one." Escalus slaps his knee.
It wasn't that funny... Markus blushes for a bit, but then looked sternly at him.
"Wait, you're serious. Oh. Well."
Was I not serious enough? Markus crosses his arms and shakes his head.
"But I'd be lying if I wasn't curious: why in the seven hells are you asking, exactly, if not," he pauses, throwing up air quotes, "that kind of way? Because if it actually is that kind of way, you're going to be sorely disappointed, but should be more than a little relieved. No idea how he broke that ice..."
His face blushes once again. "No, no, definitely not that way," waving his hands in front of him, "I would never ask such a thing of her.." he said as he scratches his cheeks. Though I do wonder how...
Refocusing on the subject at hand, Markus looks at Escalus and looks at the ground.
-sigh-
Markus lowers to the ground, sitting down on the hot yellow sand as he bend his knees towards his body. Wrapping his legs with his arms, he burros his head in his knees.
"You see... it's about Sola," he pauses for a moment, looking at the blue ocean in front of him. "After the battle with Hashmal and... well..." he bites his lips as he remembers the incident with Xenkei. His eyes narrow with anger, yet they also show sorrow. "I was straying from my original path... somewhere dark that I fear that I might regret doing something... but then Sola approached me..." He grips his knee, clenching it hard. "She saw me in a wary state, and I am ashamed for making her cry... and yet her presence," his voice wavers as he stops.
Markus looks up at Escalus, "Tell me... how can she go into such a dangerous task like that and not worry one bit that," he stops as he chokes on his last word. His head lowers to the side, looking back at his feet. "She gave a cold stare that day, after talking with her daughter, what do you think that meant?"
