Her words rang true; he knew this. He just feared their implication: That for the first time in a the better part of a decade he would have to take a risk. Sure, one could argue that leaping off buildings and daring duels were risky, but Emile never considered them as such. By his conceptions, they were "challenges," but in his own way, he put very little weight on them; never was his pride and confidence wound up in his victories. However, what he die tire to his pride had never been more apparent to him then in the last few months.
So, he nodded, still destabilized, but now working hard to regain his footing, and smiled.
"Thank you, my lady. You're words heal more than you may realize."
He took a deep breath, eyes flickering to the sleeping child yet again and the fear of change did not seem so terrible. Turning back to Twila, he forced a smile, tossed back his hair, and began to carry himself as usual: Cavalier to the nth degree.
"Now, if you don't mind a digression, may we discuss the equipment upgrades previously discussed?"
