Personality Traits
Virtues:
Gilveradin is fairly intelligent, but it’s his intuition that tends to show as he talks and works with people trying to find the best way to help them. His training as a Farstrider have left him fluent in a number of languages, knowledgeable about the natural world around him, and he’s also become very observant. His easy going nature tends to leave people at ease around him.
Flaws:
Gil, while confident in his own abilities, is still learning skills especially when Alleria and Sylvanas have something to teach him. His general attitude towards life also has him underestimating the gravity of some situations he can find himself in. His trusting nature also leads him into trouble that his sister can’t always bail him out of.
Hopes:
To be able to protect others. He always looked up to the strength that Alleria and Sylvanas had his whole life. His deepest wish is to be able to protect people the way they have for over one hundred years.
Fears:
Much like his sister, Gil fears failure; however he fears failing others rather than himself. When people get hurt around him, Gil takes it personally to heart that he should have done more to prevent it. Underlying that fear is his sister becoming more cold and distant. He worries about her going down the wrong path.

Agreeable or Disagreeable?
Agreeable. Gil tends to be rather easy going with other people - much to his sister’s chagrin.
Confident or Neurotic?
Confident. He’s developed his skills over time and for the most part knows his limits. Years of training are what got him to this point and he’s seen how far he’s come. His Aunts and Father have instilled in him that confidence he naturally took to.
Social Traits
Backstory:
Gil was born in the Windrunner Village and he was starry eyed over his father and aunts. He always followed them around - especially his Aunt Sylvanas and Aunt Alleria - and begged them both to teach him how to be a ranger like her. While his sister spent time with her nose in a book, Gil wandered outside into the forests surrounding the village and memorized the paths. Both his father Lirath and his aunt Sylvanas took notice of this and at a young age started training him in the skills of a ranger. After a time even his Aunt Alleria helped to train Gil in her own fashion; Such as suddenly abandoning him in the wilderness for a week.
Years passed and he became skilled in archery, able to hold his own in swordplay, and learned much about the natural world and how to survive it. He had calmed rampaging animals, tracked beasts to their nest, learned how to navigate the wilderness, and most importantly he felt at peace with it. While he tried to keep up sending letters to Velameestra they both became deeply involved in their training and then duties and letters became scarce over time. He stayed in closer touch with his cousins and Aunt Vereesa, plus he constantly tried to close the divide between his sister and his father Lirath.
At the age of fourteen Gil attained the rank of Journeyman within the Farstriders. Two of the trainees with him achieved this rank close to the same time though they were both a few years older. The three of them Caleron Morningwhisper, Zaeneas Emberlight, and Gil himself were assigned to train together as a small unit under the direct tutelage of Ranger-General Sylvanas and Ranger Vereesa as well. Their previous training in surviving the woods intensified, the three of them were taken out of Quel’Thalas to Lordaeron where they were to ghost a traveling caravan. They were to steal something from it each and most importantly none of them were to be seen or heard at all.
Gil rose to the challenge and was the first to take a small bag from the back of one of the wagons. Zaeneas went next taking a dagger, and Caleron was able to find and steal a locket of sorts. The three of them kept tailing the caravan through unfamiliar territory for the next week. Before they made it to the next hamlet Vereesa appeared almost seemingly from nowhere to tell them they passed their first test and not to worry the items they stole were already returned.
Over the next two years Gil, Caleron, and Zaeneas improved on their previously trained skills. They became masters of stealth, they learned more about Trolls, their language, their culture, and how to find and get rid of them. Gil went to Alleria personally often for lessons on Trolls, sometimes she even agreed to help. As they did small missions and improved themselves further and further they also became a tightly knit group able to communicate effectively without talking.
At sixteen Gil became a Farstrider and continued to work with Caleron and Zaeneas who went on later to become Farstrider themselves. They worked closely for years completing missions as assigned and ultimately spending free time together as well. Gil also made an effort to spend time with his cousins, though Arator at this time started his training to join the Silver Hand and the twins more often than not disappeared to cause trouble throughout the village. Gil and Arator would spar often and continue to remain close despite not seeing each other for weeks at a time.
When it came time, Gil traveled to watch Arator officially be sworn into the Silver Hand, along with a good number of other family members. He met with several members of the Clergy and listened for hours to them talk about the Light, and he resolved to try to implement it further into his life then he had previously. In a few years time, Prince Uther was to be sworn in a friend of both Arator and Vel and he left on his own to oversee the ceremony and spend time with his favorite family members.
Secrets:
N/A
Relations:
Nirenn Windrunner - Mother (Deceased)
While Gil was never as close to his mother as Vel was, he cared about her a great deal. He would spend much of his time checking on her and helping her move around the house and accomplish chores. He didn’t personally care for learning about the arcane, he learned a few small tricks from his mother and swiftly dropped it. While Vel would try to learn everything she could which gave his mom the joy of teaching. Gil just wanted to be nearby and there.
Near the end, Gil had a hard time dealing with how much pain his mother was in. He could see how much harder doing anything was for her and resolved to protect others from the same fate as his mother. That being said he never developed the deep hatred of trolls many other members of his family have.
Lirath Windrunner - Father
Gil was far closer to his father then his mother, spending much of his time not helping Nirenn or during particularly dry book readings outside trying always to convince his father and aunts to train him to be a Farstrider like them. While he didn’t follow Lirath around like he did some of his aunts he spent a lot of time listening to his father tell stories and teaching him about the nearby plants and occasionally some animals they would see on the edges of the estate.
Later in life Lirath was one of Gil’s main tutors alongside Alleria, Vereesa, and Sylvanas.
Velameestra Windrunner - Twin Sister
Gil loves his sister, letting her have her way often such as never arguing over who is the older twin. He forgives his sister for her cold attitude, and defies her in small ways to keep her grounded. He recognizes Vel’s love of the arcane being fostered by their mother and deepened to honor her memory.
While Gil is devout to the Church of Holy Light he doesn’t judge his sister for losing heart, and he personally endeavors to help her stay on a path that their mother would be proud of. He worries about her growing so distant from almost everyone and so when she develops a connection to another he tries to foster it and deepen that connection.
He sees completely through her fronts and bluffs however. He knows deep inside she is incredibly unsure and he does his best to keep such thoughts at bay.
Sylvanas Windrunner - Aunt
One of Gil’s biggest heroes. He often followed her around everywhere when he was younger totally in awe of her and her skills. She would have to prevent him from following her into meetings with Farstriders and he would sit patiently (see asleep) outside whichever room for her to exit so he could continue to follow her.
She was the first to suggest he may be ready to become a Journeyman and personally picked the two recruits to train with him. Gil will be forever grateful to Sylvanas for everything she had done for him and taught him throughout life.
Alleria Windrunner - Aunt (Married to Turalyon)
Gil’s other biggest hero. While Sylvanas allowed Gil to follow her freely taking it in stride. Alleria was not so good natured. She would often slip away from him when he wasn’t paying attention and very quickly Gil learned that if he ever took his eyes off of her, she would be gone in that instant.
When he grew older however, she took him a number of times to train him, though her methods were harsh Gil greatly appreciated the challenges and the faith she had in him to succeed. Much like his sister, he could see through her front and understood how deeply she cares about her family. Even if she doesn’t show it well.
Turalyon - Uncle (Married to Alleria)
There wasn’t much interaction with Turalyon and Gil, he was often away training other recruits or with Alleria on patrols and missions. He holds a lot of respect for his uncle and when they did have time he would ask him about the Light and Turalyon helped build a foundation for Gil’s faith in it.
Arator - Cousin
Gil and Arator grew up together and were close. Arator was the calm to Gil’s energy and the two of them played together often feeling more like brothers than cousins. Gil, Vel, Arator, Talath, and Syeori were often found together playing some game, even if Vel quickly gave up to return to her studies, with Talath trailing not far behind her.
As they grew older and moved towards different paths Arator and Gil kept in close contact, it helped that they both still stayed at the Windrunner Estate when not currently in training and more often than not their training sessions would last for roughly the same amounts of time. Gil was incredibly proud of Arator when he was sworn into the Silver Hand and the two of them would have each other’s backs always.
Vereesa Windrunner - Aunt (Married to Rhonin)
Though Gil sees Vereesa more often then the rest of his aunts, he isn’t quite as close to her, or have much of the hero worship he has for Alleria and Sylvanas. Despite that however they are still close and he’s seen her as almost a secondary mother figure. She was there for all of his immediate family after Nirenn’s death. She and her brother Lirath were the ones to help Gil learn all the basic skills and worked with him the most.
Rhonin - Uncle (Married to Vereesa)
Gil and Rhonin get along incredibly well. Their mutual easy going nature and love for teasing Vel goes a long way. They keep in contact discussing Vel's current training and attempts to help her socialize more. If Gil had more interest in the arcane he'd have loved for Rhonin to show him magic.
Gil trusts Rhonin to help guide Vel, even if she doesn’t know how important he really is to her.
Giramar - Cousin
Giramar is the planner of the two. He’s picked up magic impressively well, most likely due to his father. Especially favoring Illusion magic he has rendered Galadin invisible more times then can be counted to help get their pranks carried through.
Gil enjoys being around the twins, they in recent years rarely are able to pull much on him since his Ranger training and observation being a very important skill for them, but both of them still try and some of their plans are so elaborate almost to be awe inspiring.
Galadin - Cousin
Giramar is the planner, but Galadin is the one who can carry them out. Mastering stealth at a young age to impress not just his mother but many of his Aunts and Uncles as well. He’s has learned some basic magic, but isn’t quite a full mage like his twin has the potential to be. He takes advice from his father and like Giramar wishes no real lasting harm to anyone. Just a laugh.
Gil is more then happy to allow Galadin to carry out any plans he sees them doing, so long as he doesn’t see a potential for danger from it. He’s even helped Galadin and Giramar on a few occasions as well.
Zendarin Windrunner - First Cousin, Once Removed
His family largely ignored or openly shunned Zendarin for his horrid attitude; especially his outspokenness concerning Alleria and Vereesa’s choice in husbands. Gil several times attempted to befriend his cousin only for him to become quickly irritated at Gil’s general attitude, causing Zendarin to request him to leave. With time Gil gave up on his estranged cousin but never burned the bridge hoping that one day Zendarin would overcome his narrow views and rejoin the family again.
Friends:
Talath Dawnsworn
Gil was always amused by the childhood crush Talath had on Vel, even going so far as to be one of the few to use her full first name as per request. He could usually be seen never too far from Vel, and always trying to impress her with feats of strength and skill. Usually to be ignored in favor of her books.
Gil and Talath would often play games together with Arator on the estate or just within the Eversong Woods, never venturing too far due to Talath’s fear of being kidnapped by trolls.
Syeori Sunwalker
Where Talath was timid, Syeori was incredibly brave, she would go with Gil and Arator deep into the Eversong Woods laughing the whole way. Syeori was the first to want to explore something always letting her curiosity lead the way for her.
Gil has a lot of fond memories exploring the forest around their home with her and Arator, finding some of the strange creatures born of the excess arcane magic around. They played in streams and over time Syeori developed an interest in exploration and eventually map-making.
Caleron Morningwhisper
The first recruit near Gil’s age that he met. Handpicked by Vereesa. Two years Gil’s senior the taller boy quickly befriended Gil. Gil considers him one of his best friends to this day, having trained together since he was eleven and even a decade later still working together as a small squad with Zaeneas.
Caleron is slightly more calculating, and much more tactically minded then Gil, which works well with Gil’s spontaneous plans and ability to improvise. He much like Arator also has a calming effect on Gil through his sheer force of calm that radiates off him. This almost aura has given him quite an affinity for animals, having a lynx they found as a companion he named Whisper.
Zaeneas Emberlight
The second recruit to work with Gil and Caleron being a year older then Gil. He’s an incredibly skilled in fighting with throwing knives and hand to hand combat. He is much more aggressive than either Gil or Caleron but between the two they are generally able to keep him in check.
Gil enjoys sparring with him and can appreciate his more rash nature, though he worries about it getting him in trouble and in over his head.
