Under the light of the moon, Alstroemeria Lockley ran on foot down a Lagallan country road.
She had checked her old home in Shorclif. Given the riots in the city just a mile out, it was obvious that many people had evacuated the small town. Both the Mercers and her mother had left town just as she had suggested. She knew where they were though. However, the ride from Brimrad to Shorclif to all the way up into the outskirts of Dalhurst had taken it’s toll and the young woman was exhausted. Mile after mile she continued onward, until a familiar farm was in sight.
As soon as she reached a familiar red door, she began pounding on it furiously.
