Cygnus' eyes widened as she spoke. For a moment the man could only stand in silence as he processed what she had just said.
"That... is an outlandish claim."
His arms still crossed, seemingly unmoved, the sound of metal scraping against metal could be heard as his gauntlets gripped his arms.
"I have seen first hand that war brings out the worst of any people. I have seen both friend and foe resort to unspeakable acts in my time."
His arms fell to his sides.
"However," his voice raised slightly.
He began to walk toward her, encroaching into the remaining gap between the two.
"To imply, no, to accuse that the forces of Garlemald... that my father would stand complicit in the unleashing of an eikon. We are the ones that stand against the eikons, and those who would seek to sew chaos through their summoning. It is for that reason why we fight."
He gestured out at the room with his arm, though with much more violence then he intended. Had his arm been any closer he may have struck her.
Silence hung over the room as Cygnus realized what he had nearly done. He glanced down at his hand then back to Sidonia as shame swept across his face.
Once more he had let anger get the best of him.
"I'm... sorry... Once more... I've..."
Cygnus took a deep breathe, and took a step back from Sidonia. He would recollect himself. He placed his arms behind his back.
"You are saying that sas Romula and that my father, in their final moments, forsook every oath they swore to uphold? If that is what you believe, then fine, I'll indulge you. How would you know something like this? By the time you would have arrived in Eorzea, that battle would have concluded weeks if not months prior. And I imagine if the land was laid bare by an eikon, there would be little evidence to prove that such an event happened. So what convinced you of this so fully that it made you willing to commit treason?"
He didn't believe her. What she was saying was impossible. But this was the first real information he had received from her, so he would follow where ever it would lead.
