With a flick of her tail and a giggle, Sola twirled in her Space. It always glittered here. The timeless, shimmer, void that she now called home provided all she needed. She always knew what time it was too! Sometimes it was a little boring when everyone was awake, but the world of dreams was exceptionally large, vast, and ripe for exploring.
Still, it wasn't the time for exploring! Mama, and Sugar, and even Aunt Hinanjo had told her of the danger happening back home in the real world. She had a very important job to do and a super important choice to make! Every night she spent time in the dreams of her friends and family, keeping nightmares at bay whenever she made the right choice. It was like a bad game of memory.
Dutiful, the little Au Ra let herself spin idly, simply passing the time until the right doors showed up-- the doors took her to where she needed to go. If she wished to see the door of a loved one, it would simply appear. If they were awake, it would be locked and vanish when she tried to enter. If they were sleeping and ready for her, the door would open with ease. If she wanted to go exploring, she could always simply find portals everywhere she looked. Each person had one, after all. She was happy that she could always call on the doors. They made her smile.
"I think it's about time..." Sola announced to herself, clapping her hands together, once, for punctuation. "Let's go see Sugar!"
Humming a little tune to herself, Sola held up one pointer finger. At the very tip of her finger, she manifested a little spark of magic. The magic crackled like a sparkler or a shooting star, hues of pink, purple, blue, and white danced within it. Pointing forward, she crouched down and drew a straight, shimmering, line across the ground. She then added two, adult-sized, vertical lines for the sides. Finally, crouching down, Sola jumped as high as she could and she sketched a connecting line across the top, connecting the tall rectangle together.
The portal before her sparkled to life. The outline filled in with a saturated, brilliant, starscape.
Sola smiled, her one finger was joined by the rest. With her her whole hand outstretched, she spoke, "Seda Polaali!"
With a natural authority that no five-year-old should wield, her voice echoed through space. The distant stars upon the door began to blink out. Soon, they were replaced with a lavender door. The outside of the portal was trimmed with black and white lace. Wrought-iron filigree, almost too delicate to be made of such a heavy metal, covered the door, too, mimicking the lace near the exterior. At her own height there was a stunning, black glass, handle.
With a resolute inhale and one more flick of her tail, Sola's hand touched the handle and she pushed into Seda's dreamscape. While she wasn't afraid of Sugar at all, her grandma has sent a lot of nasty nightmares lately. They were scary, but she could handle them! She was a big girl, after all.
As she slipped in and shut the door behind her, an empty field of swirling colors danced before her-- Sugar's dream was still forming. There were no nightmares here yet!
"Sugaaarrr!" Sola called with both hands around her mouth, attempting to draw her friend into a lucid state. "Hey! Where are you?"
