Velameestra drained the last of the coffee in her mug as she passed the threshold into the kitchen. With a snap of her fingers, the vessel was once again spotless--her magic swiftly banishing what residue had been left before she returned it to is designated perch on the shelf above the counter.
It had been one of the few times the mage had left her study since she disappeared into it that morning. As was the expected routine. The sheer size of the manor fortunately dissuaded her from relying on an unseen servant to fetch most things, thus her visage periodically swept through the halls with a degree of focused purpose before retreating to the cloistered room and whatever it was she had been working on.
She would have likely followed the same pattern had movement outside the window not drawn her attention, and the elf paused just long enough to glance at the figure moving about the courtyard.
It was Gil.
His longbow was carefully balanced against the larger tree that dominated the yard, and as she watched, Vel caught the glimpse of soft light around the hand that was touched lightly to bark of the oaken trunk.
"Hmph."
The elf made a small noise in the back of her throat as she quickly put together what he was doing, and she started to once more return to her normal routine before she stopped again, her eyes settling on the leaves of the large oak as they swayed in a sudden breeze.
Several of them were dislodged, their fire-hued forms fluttering to the ground. While not as uniformly golden as the leaves of Eversong, the rest of the Eastern Kingdoms was rapidly entering the season where most of the continent mirrored the elven homelands.
The mage sighed to herself, her gaze flickering to the ground as she took a moment's consideration, and then she quickly turned back toward the window and crossed the small distance to the doorway that led out into the courtyard.
The cool grass and occasional leaf crunched softly beneath her bare feet before she stopped a small distance away.
"You know. Galadin's going to be quite confused if the marks he's made on that tree with his dagger suddenly disappear," she mused, using the comment to announce her presence if her approach hadn't already been noted.
