Sleight Of Hand

A Sleight of Hands check is utilized whenever you attempt an act of legerdemain or trickery, such as planting or concealing an object or obscuring hand signs. This skill is also used for more criminal activities such as pickpocketing. The base ability used is normally Dexterity.

Conceal Object | Untrained

You attempt to hide a small object on your person. As an Action, you can make a Sleight of Hand check, which then becomes the DC for any Perception or Investigation checks made to find the object. If the object may be particularly difficult to conceal, you may have Disadvantage on the check. Some objects may simply be too large or unwieldy to reasonably conceal. This action may also be used to obfuscate your presence at a crime scene, or cover evidence that may be found in an area. If there are any onlookers in the area when you are attempting to conceal an object, your Sleight of Hand check may also be compared to the passive Wisdom (Perception) scores of those observers.

Steal or Plant Object | Untrained

You attempt to take a small object from another creature or one that is unattended, or plant one on another creature without being noticed. As an Action, you can make a Sleight of Hand check against the creature's passive Wisdom (Perception) score. This assumes that the object may be worn but not closely guarded (such as a pouch of coins on a belt, or an object inside a similar pouch), or largely unattended (such as a small object in an open display case). If the object is in a pocket or being similarly protected (such as a piece of jewelry being worn on a wrist), you may have Disadvantage on the check. The DM may also increase the DC of the check if the object is particularly difficult to steal. Your Sleight of Hand check may also be compared to the passive Wisdom (Perception) scores of onlookers if they are not suitably distracted.
