A'dal was the leader of the naaru that were present during the Battle of Tempest Keep. Unfortunately, he was ultimately overwhelmed by the attacking orcish horde and their Legion allies and lost his life at the hands of the pit lord, Magtheridon.

It was later discovered that his spark survived the ordeal. His darkened heart mingled with the damaged systems of Tempest Keep and the lingering, slain consciousness of the great sporemound, Botaan.

After his spark was removed from Tempest Keep, it crash landed in the middle of the battle between Zalazane and Prince Uther's companions, disrupting a powerful spell that the undead troll was attempting to cast, allowing the Alliance forces to defeat him. The spark is now being held safely at the Grand Cathedral of the Church of the Holy Light for study. It was recently discovered that the naaru is, slowly, regenerating.

Appearance

Personality

Like most naaru, A'dal could be described as simultaneously enigmatic and benevolent. He was known to be selfless and exceedingly peaceful, choosing conflict only when absolutely necessary. That said, he would stop at nothing to protect the innocent and defenseless - as seen at the Battle of Tempest Keep, where he sacrificed his own life to ensure the Draenei could escape on the Exodar. He was very powerful for a naaru, and if pressed, could defeat swaths of enemies single-handedly.

Biography

During the year 618, A'dal contacted Velen and the draenei, who were currently in hiding in the mushroom top town of Telredor. A'dal promised the Prophet and his refugees from Shattrath safety in the form of Tempest Keep, a massive dimensional fortress. When the fortress arrived, A'dal and the other naaru aboard the keep disembarked along with the other draenei who called the keep their home. Had they gone unnoticed, the keep and its four sattelites would have had room to save tenfold the number Velen had brought with him.

However, luck was not on their side. It was only a matter of time before the Legion discovered their exodus and moved to stop it. The Horde and the Legion fell upon the fleeing draenei like a tide of fire and blood. The draenei, refugees and warriors from Tempest Keep alike, fought for their lives as the draenei boarded the Exodar as fast as they could. Though many draenei escaped the bloodshed and fled Draenor, a great many fell in battle, A'dal himself included. His form shattered like glass before the cruel glaive of the pit lord, Magtheridon, who had been called to lead the battle alongside the Horde.

Chapter One: Matters of Life and Death

Fourteen years later, The Warband discovered the spark of A'dal deep within the wreckage of Tempest Keep. Over the years, the powerful crystal - his very heart - had melded with the navigational computer of the dimensional fortress and the deceased subconscious of the sporemound, Botaan, whose body had become the subcontinent of Farahlon. The void-touched subconscious of the dead naaru mingled with the dreaming sporemound to create aberrant nightmares that tormented the stranded crews of the mangled fortress, driving them to insanity and death as they were buried deep in the crash. By communing with the amalgamated entity that had formed by these three entities, The Warband learned that Botaan was slowly being regenerated by sapping the energy from the depleted naaru. Left alone, Botaan would eventually regenerate, and A'dal would be consumed by it. To prevent this, they decided to remove the crystal and, using the last of the fortress's energy, sent it, along with a message, to the Exodar. The twisted, corrupted ground that had spread across Farahlon began to sink into the sea, burying the battlefield, as well as the wreckage of Tempest Keep and all of those who died there.

While being sent to Azeroth, the spark of A'dal went astray, landing in Zul'Gurub during Prince Uther and his allies' final battle with Zalazane. The crystal's trajectory struck the troll, interrupting a ritual he was using to summon loa spirits to Azeroth that he intended to devour and gain further strength. After the battle, the crystal was recovered and brought to the catacombs beneath the Cathedral of the Holy Light in Capitol City, Lordaeron.

Chapter Two: Casting Dice

Over the weeks that followed, a select group of bishops from the Church were given leave to investigate the crystal's nature, with Natalie Seline and Sally Mograine being placed in charge of the project. Many priests that communed with the crystal were rendered unconscious from the endeavor, though they were able to determine that the crystal was of both light and shadow. Not wishing to involve the Knights of the Silver Hand directly, for fear they would choose to destroy it out of fear of its darker nature, Benedictus called upon Prince Uther, who had previously requested to be appraised of the spark's nature, to attempt to commune with it as well. While doing so, Uther was able to withstand both the light and the shadow of the crystal and learned its name: A'dal.

Months later, Uther and Remnii would return to A'dal to find that study of the naaru has been placed in the hands of Natalie Seline, a bishop of stormwind who specializes in the study of the unconventional. Remnii was able to divine that A'dal appeared to have not only suffered no lingering effects from his time connected to Botaan and Tempest Keep, but seemed to be recovering, albeit slowly.
