Jandice Barov was an incredibly talented archmage of the Kirin Tor and had a specialization in illusion magic. She unfortunately fell ill and her body began to deteriorate, but her soul was preserved through necromancy utilized by Kel'Thuzad, allowing her to continue existing as a spirit with her own free will. While she was unable to leave the grounds of Caer Darrow, her abilities as an archmage, and the beauty she had before she fell ill, were preserved.

Appearance

In life, Jandice was a beautiful young woman with brown hair whose appearance was eventually ravaged by the disease that took her life. However, when she was brought back as a ghost, her appearance was restored to that which she had before she was afflicted with the disease.

Personality

Biography

Jandice was born a member of the ill-fated Barov family, and proved to be a talented mage. She rapidly rose through the ranks of the Kirin Tor with her mastery of illusion magicks, and eventually attained the rank of archmage. Unfortunately, it was a short-lived accomplishment.

Her mother was killed by trolls when the traitorous Lord Perenald of Alterac opened passage for them through Caer Darrow. Many others were also slain, though fortunately her brothers had not been present. In the following years, a famine plagued Caer Darrow and the surrounding lands, and terrible pox struck the area. Jandice had returned to her people, but she too ultimately fell ill and retreated to her family holding at Caer Darrow to attempt to recover. Stories claim that she eventually succumbed to the pox.

However, she had sent a missive to Kel'Thuzad, at the behest of her father, who had been a mentor of her's. Lord Alexei didn't want to lose his daughter, and ultimately the priest of the Holy Light had been unsuccessful in lifting the pox from her. Jandice informed her father that Kel'Thuzad may have been able to do something where the priests had failed, thus, he arrived, and he was in fact able to do something.

Kel'Thuzad had been able to preserve Jandice's spirit as a free-willed ghost, but the result was not one that suited Alexei, and he attacked Kel'Thuzad in a rage. Jandice's father was killed in the struggle.

Jandice eventually offered her family holdings at Caer Darrow to Kel'Thuzad as a site for the eventual Scholomance, as it was now without a lord, and her brothers had no desire to return to the supposedly cursed place. She came to serve as an instructor, assistant headmaster, and as a means to perpetuate the rumors that the ancient halls of the fortress were cursed.

Chapter Two: Casting Dice

Jandice was the first denizen of Scholomance that greeted Velameestra Windrunner when Kel'Thuzad guided the young elven mage to the secret catacombs of the academy. She then proceeded to guide Velameestra on a tour of the academy and formerly introduced her to the instructors there, ultimately providing a welcoming first impression of the school Kel'Thuzad had founded.
