The first time you hit with a ranged weapon attack during the spell's duration, the weapon's ammunition, or the weapon itself if it's a thrown weapon, is covered with arcane energy. The attack deals an extra 3d6 arcane damage. The spell ends early if you cast it again or cast another smite spell, such as searing smite or wrathful smite.
If the target is under the effects of a beneficial magic effect, you may choose one of those effects and make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a successful check, the spell ends.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd.
