June 17th

The fight is raging on, and Thunderaan raises his blade to the sky.

Prince Thunderaan says: A wonderful conquest! But let us now truly begin! I need not hold back!

A peal of thunder echoes through the valley, nearly deafening the party aside from Vel and Riff--who are in the dome of silence. Tol’vas shifts into his worgen form and roars bolstering his allies with the magic of the spell.

The air elemental next to Vel and Riff swirls into their space and uses its whirlwind ability, but Vel and Riff are both able to resist.

Thunderaan, with extreme speed, strikes at Uther with his massive weapon before the huge elemental shoots into the sky. With two fearsome blows from his axe, Arthas is able to cleave through the air elemental nearest to him. He rounds on the second air elemental with another successful strike.

Arthas Menethil says: Are you alright, Remnii?
Remnii says: Thank you!

Thrud follows up on the second air elemental, her eyes sparking with lightning. She brings it down to critical condition.

Thunderaan shoots skyward, but Uther is able to connect with his hammer as he moves. Seria also manages to land a hit.

Uther Menethil says: How are we to have a contest with you all the way up there!
Prince Thunderaan says: We shall see!

He starts to cast storm sphere, but Vel enhances a counterspell so she can counter it with a quick motion of her hand. Thunderaan pauses, and then laughs.

Prince Thunderaan says: My, you are full of surprises, aren’t you?

He floats down closer to the battlefield.

The critically-wounded air elemental hurls Remnii towards the edge again, but as she stumbles off, she is able to grab on to the edge of the cliff. She shrieks, and both Tae’shara and Samaara call out to her. Thunderaan looks down at her curiously, interested to see what she might do.

Riff says: Remnii!

Riff holds his hands out as he jumps out of the silence bubble. Vel sees his eyes glow as they roll into the back of his head. Remnii instinctively resists, but her body still jolts upward and over the top of the cliff. She swings with her staff at the air elemental, and it whips through the elemental.

Then the control fades. Riff gives her a thumbs up, and then darts back into the silence bubble. Vel brandishes her sword as she dances around the air elemental, striking the air elemental with her frigid blade. A whirlwind of snow erupts around her, but the elemental is able to narrowly dodge around her second strike.

Remnii uses mass flash of light and then clenches her fist in the midst of the air elemental, using mind sliver. The elemental immediately dissipates, destroyed.

Remnii says: I’ve had enough of that!

Uther drops righteous defense and then looks up at Thunderaan and kneels. He quickens the fly spell, and wings of light burst from his back. He launches into the air to start sparring Thunderaan in the sky.

Uther Menethil says: Well, if you don’t come down, I’ll have to come up!

He swings in with his hammer, holy light radiating around it. His second strike connects, another explosion of light radiating in the stormy sky. Thunderaan pivots around Uther, swinging Thunderfury.

Prince Thunderaan says: Excellent!

Uther attempts to block the strike, but the elemental’s strength is overwhelming. Lightning and wind courses around Uther, chilling him to the bone.

Seria barrels through Vel’s cold snap and swings at the elemental with her fist. The first attack misses, but the second connects.

Arthas also charges straight into Vel’s cold snap and strikes with a battle cry, cleaving through the elemental and causing it to dissipate. He then calls to the sky as he backs out of the cold snap, invigorating the allies that can hear him.

Remnii uses mind whip, flicking her wrist through air. There is a ripple of darker energy through the air, though it doesn’t strike as true as she may have desired. Cold wind also forms around Thrud, and she casts sleet storm, causing a storm to blot out Thunderaan’s face. Thunderaan laughs, clearly enjoying the contest.

Uther connects with another smite, and then quickens a green flame blade, connecting with another smite.

Tol’vas uses sunfire, and a pillar of radiant light shoots through Thunderaan--it doesn’t seem to have a profound effect, but it does hurt him. Tol’vas then uses his bear totem, bolstering his allies.

Prince Thunderaan says: Fear not, friends! I have not forgotten you!

He casts chain lighting and fires it down to the group on the ground. Tol’vas uses absorb elements, but he loses concentration on his spell--the primal fury enacted on Uther fading away.

Riff darts around Vel’s cold snap and a red mist of shadowy energy coalesces around his hand. He uses shadow word pain on Thunderaan, but the elemental is able to resist the spell.

Thunderaan flickers and slashes through Uther, cleaving through him as he moves. Uther’s wings break, and starts to plummet down--but then a small twister breaks his fall, and he lands on the ground.

Vel jumps out of the silence bubble and casts frost nova, the explosion of ice bursting around Thunderaan, before she darts back into the silence bubble.

Seria takes a dodge action as she runs to the edge of the cliff in anticipation.

Tol’vas uses rejuvenation on Uther, the druidic magics starting to knit his wounds together.

Thunderaan flies downward and starts to laugh.

Prince Thunderaan says: What a glorious battle!

There is another thunderous blast, and everyone that heard it is deafened--except for Uther and Seria, who are immune, and Vel who was in the silence bubble.

Thunderaan pivots around and brings his blade down on Vel, knocking her to her knees.

Thrud casts a frostbolt at Thunderaan as she darts into the silence bubble, and Arthas follows up after her. He runs up Thunderaan’s sword and cleaves his axe down the side of the elemental’s arm. Thunderfury is flung into the air, and pierces into the ground between the group.

Riff drops his silence bubble, the battle finished.

Thunderaan laughs again.

Prince Thunderaan says: Well fought, brave mortals! But I believe I have reached the end of my strength! The same cannot be said of all of you! You have all proven yourselves worthy of my blessing, and now the time has come for me to return to my home.

He is starting to fade away.

Thrud says: But, Prince Thunderaan, before you leave, you said your blessing!
Prince Thunderaan says: You have all the strength you need to accomplish your goals! If you need more assurance, I leave my blade with you. Farewell, mortals. Should you need my assistance, you know where to find me. I return to Skywall!

Thunderaan laughs, his body unraveling as the storm is calmed. Within moments, he is gone--leaving his blade behind. The blade is almost twice the size of Thrud. She steps forward, and places a hand on it. A bolt of lightning strikes it, and the blade is now sized for her as she draws it from the earth.

Remnii goes about healing the injured members of the party as the storm subsides.

The other members of the party come rushing up.

Elissa Cross says: Are you alright? That was amazing! You all did so well!
Uther Menethil says: I’m not quite certain how I survived the fall, but grateful I did!
Remnii says: Are you alright Vel?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes. Thank you, Remnii. That sword hit as hard as it looked.
Uther Menethil says: I can say it hit very hard indeed.

Uther approaches Thrud, who is now holding both her hammer, and the large sword.

Uther Menethil says: I’m sorry, I know this wasn’t the outcome you were hoping for.
Thrud says: No, I think I understand. I suppose it was a bit childish hoping that a creature such as he would have the answers to my own dilemma. I think this is all the answer I needed. I need to do this myself. And with this blade… perhaps I can find the strength that I need.
Uther Menethil says: While there is merit in solving your problems yourself, yourself doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. I hope, that if you ever find yourself in need of assistance again, you will remember me.

Thrud smiles.

Thrud says: I will. My road is long, and I know not where it will lead me. But know, all of you, for what you have done and helped me, you have all earned both my trust and my loyalty. I am but one woman, but if ever you need me, you may call upon me as well. Perhaps if the time comes, perhaps my father will help you as well.
Uther Menethil says: Well, as I told Prince Thunderaan, the threat looming over our world will take nothing short of our world to stop it.

Thrud nods.

Thrud says: Well, this is my world as much as it is anyone else’s.

She drives the Thunderfury blade into the ground and holds her hand out for a handshake, which Uther accepts.

Thrud says: When the time comes, you will have my help as well.
Uther Menethil says: I’m more confident in our chances for victory already!
Thrud says: Once we recover, the road will call to me. I must return back to my home. Perhaps I can meet with the frost giants myself, and through my own strength, I can find the answers I seek. But I will not need to do so alone, as you said.
Remnii says: Does anyone feel like it should be later?
Uther Menethil says: It was a brisk morning!

Vel notes a glint of something near where Thunderaan had dissipated and she starts to investigate. She grabs her harvesting kit and captures what was left of the spark. As she holds the vial to her eye, she sees a snake of lightning rippling and twitching in the vial. She also finds another shard, which is glowing with primal lighting. It sparks as she extracts it. She isn’t sure what it is, exactly, but she was able to successfully retrieve it.

Tae’shara also looks eagerly at the items that Vel had extracted.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Well, that stuff looks pretty valuable.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Perfect for a rainy day.

Vel is completely monotone, but Remnii chuffs at the pun.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: How about you take a breather and I can take a look at those?

Vel hands them over to her, and Tae’shara uses identify while the party rests.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Well. This vial is somethin’ you might never get to have the opportunity to hold again. This is Thunderaan’s essence. This is rare enough to find, let alone get somethin’ like this! I dunno what we could even do with this. This would functionally be ‘is spine if he ‘ad bones! A manifestation he formed from it! I wager you’ll need somethin’ like this to make a weapon like what Thrud’s got!

The shard is a bit less fantastic, but it’s an entropy shard. It’s something that forms inside an elemental when they form, and it’s a fragment of primal power that was released when he was summoned.

Samaara and Makasa also help patch up some of Vel’s wounds. By the end of the rest, the wind had mostly died down.

Thrud packs her things together, the Thunderfury blade slung across her back.

Thrud says: It is a long road back to Northrend, but I will do so gladdened to meet such friends as yourself.

Vel mentions that if Thrud encounters any elves in Northrend to say that she is an ally of Velameestra Windrunner--hopefully it would lessen the chances of any misunderstandings. Thrud nods and thanks her for the ability to use her friendship.

Thrud bids farewell to the group, and whistles for her wolves to follow her as she sets off down the ridge.

Samaara says: That was well fought. I wish I could have been more assistance, but I do not believe that storm would have been kind to me. However, it did not seem you needed the rest of our help. You did well in defeating him.
Remnii says: There were some moments!
Velameestra Windrunner says: I imagine we’re going to be continuing on our way to this barrow den, yes?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Yeah, that seems right.

Samaara looks to the druids.

Samaara says: You mentioned it was near an oasis. Do we know which one?
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: We know they were in the north area of the Barrens.

Aramar pulls out the map that he’s been working on.

Aramar Thorne says: Well, I don’t have everything, but I’ve been trying to keep as good an eye on the places we’ve passed. I tried to name a few places too! But, I do have the places we’ve flown over. At least roughly. We could hit those, and maybe we’ll get lucky and find the right one?

He notes the oasis the group had stopped at one night, and the area where there might be another one.

The group takes their wind walk forms and they start to fly. They travel for about two hours, passing over the Southfury River once more. There is a collection of mountains wreathed in thorns ahead--indicative of quillboar territory.

They opt to veer around the quillboar territory, following the Gold Road. They occasionally see individuals traversing the road below. Near a cluster of tall trees, there are strange quadrupedal creatures with long necks that are feeding off the leaves. Occasionally there are roving bands of centaur, as well as camps.

Then suddenly they hear drums begin to beat. They watch as tents are rapidly torn down, and a few outriders start to run off in every direction--waving massive torches in the air. It’s unclear what they are doing.

But then they hear the wind start to pick up around them. They are blown around, and they sense the wind is coming from a large cloud. There are massive wings that burst from the cloud, huge talons extended as it dives right by the group. It’s a huge bird, similar to a hawk or a falcon, but much, much larger.

It dives toward the centaur camp, and arrows are loosed at it. The massive bird grabs two centaurs and takes off into the sky again. The centaurs try to fight back, but then as it soars upward, it drops the two centaur. They plummet and crash limply. The huge bird circles around, then plucks the corpses from the ground before disappearing into the sky again.

Tol’vas knows it’s an incredibly rare creature. It’s not a wild god, but it is probably very close. It’s called a roc--a massive bird of prey. No one is totally sure what their origin was. Some claim they are distant relatives of the ancients, or spirit beasts, but most seem to come from a place that teems with natural energies.

The group keeps moving, and thankfully they don’t see it again.

They find a spot off the Gold Road to camp for the night. Tol’vas continues to insist on resting outside the tiny huts, but he enters the dream so he can look for any druidic activity. He finds none, but the dream is quite lush in this area.

June 18th

The next morning is very hot, and it is only going to get hotter throughout the day. The sky is cloudless, and the sun unrelenting as the group takes to the sky.

They spread out, looking for signs of other oases before meeting at a specific mountain. Uther and Seria note an oasis towards the west. Tae’shara and Vel see the end of the Barrens far to the north where it expands into a lush, green forest and mountains. Tol’vas finds an oasis to the south which is surrounded by a large abundance of tropical trees. It’s almost too many. The sand is nearly not visible beneath the lush vegetation, and the rippling pools of the oasis seem to be uncomfortably brighter.

After they meet up, the group heads south to the oasis that Tol’vas had found. They travel for about three more hours, heading straight through the mountains to circle down. However, they see a figure sitting on a rock that’s not too far away from one of the many small pools. It’s a large creature with mostly bare flesh, and it has a horn protruding from its head.

It looks like an ogre, and Remnii just stops. Vel and Uther also recognize it.

The ogre scratches his head and seems to be eating some sort of fruit.

The group lands a distance away from the creature.

Samaara says: What is an ogre doing in the middle of the Barrens?
Remnii says: Same question I have.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: What’s an ogre? Other than that. Don’t point at it.
Velameestra Windrunner says: They came out of the Dark Portal with the orcs.
Remnii says: They are from Draenor. They lost a long war with the orcs, and the ones that remain now fight with the orcs. But there were arakkoa…
Velameestra Windrunner says: You don’t suppose they may be a member of the Hidden?
Remnii says: I can’t say.
Samaara says: It may be wise to split up. Some of you can go and speak with this creature if it has any desire to do so. The rest of us can stay at a safe distance and be ready for anything. This seems suspicious…
Remnii says: Well. I can speak many tongues of Draenor.
Elissa Cross says: Yeah. Maybe we can help him out? Or something. He looks a little lost.

Elissa and Tae’shara go with the party while the rest of the group gets into a more advantageous position in case things go south.

The party starts to approach, and Seria and Tol’vas notices messages written in druidic. There are druidic indications that seem to state the barrow den of the Druids of the Fang is located here, and they are marking the direction to the entrance of that barrow den. However, it has been partially scribbled out and replaced with another message in druidic.

“Stay away. Turn back. Not safe.”

Seria reads what it says.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I’m… assuming then we’re going to investigate why it’s not safe?

Tae’shara looks at the writing on the side of the tree.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Well, you’d think after so long, they’d realize stuff like this just makes people wanna go in more.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Anything that can wipe out a barrow den is something that needs to be dealt with.
Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Should we still ask this ogre about things?
Remnii says: I would happy to speak with him if we think we can glean anything. I’m most curious myself.

Tae’shara whistles to Samaara, who pops her head out of the greenery. Tae’shara makes a few signs at her, and Samaara nods before disappearing back into the brush.

The party steps out to head towards the ogre, who appears to be scratching his head. His back is to the group, and he doesn’t seem to have noticed them.

Remnii says [orcish]: Throm’ka, friend!

The ogre stops and looks around, a finger in his nose. Vel’s nose wrinkles in disgust. The ogre has a weapon nearby.

Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: Oh! Hi! Wha’ are you guys doin’ here?
Remnii says [orcish]: You are a long way from home. So what are you doing here?
Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: Uh. Looking for the greenies.

Remnii opts to cast tongues so the rest of the party that can’t understand orcish can at least hear her side.

Remnii says [tongues]: Do you mean the orcs?
Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: They are green! But no! The greenies!

He points at the trees.

Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: The boss said to bring the stuff and bring to the greenies, but no boss!
Remnii says [tongues]: Do you have the stuff?
Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: Uh huh! I do good work, but I get here and there’s no one here!

Remnii looks, and she notes a large box near where he was sitting. It looks to be goblin in make. Remnii blinks, getting her head around what’s going on.

Remnii says [tongues]: Well, you don’t need to look any further.

Remnii folds her arms.

Remnii says [tongues]: We have come to pick up the supplies. The boss is very busy, after all, and so to have you been!

The ogre scratches his head.

Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: I don’t remember boss sayin’ nothin’ about that. I think he said… lemme look.

He looks in his loin cloth and pulls out a sheet of paper. He starts trying to read to himself.

Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: He said I was supposed to bring the stuff and only show it to him once we got to the greenies.

He looks between Remnii and the paper a few times.

Lost-Looking Ogre says [orcish]: But da humie who is always talkin’ to the boss, he always throws the boss on all sorts of crazy things. Maybe he’s right! But there is somethin’ I should check first. Come here, especially you humie!

He points at Uther.

Uther Menethil says: Me?

The ogre nods, and the switches to bad common.

Lost-Looking Ogre says: Me look for humie. Me want to see if you are humie.
Remnii says [tongues]: He wants to see if you are a human or not.
Uther Menethil says: I can assure you, friend. Me indeed humie.
Lost-Looking Ogre says: Me know that! Me look for humie!
Uther Menethil says: You find humie.

The ogre looks at Remnii.

Lost-Looking Ogre says: Humie friend stupid. I am looking for humie. One humie.
Remnii says [tongues]: A specific humie?
Lost-Looking Ogre says: Yes!
Remnii says [tongues]: What does this humie look like?
Lost-Looking Ogre says: Um. He. Um. He has, um. Uh. Hair. And it’s dark. And he has a big beard.
Remnii says [tongues]: We only have a light beard with me at the moment.
Lost-Looking Ogre says: Was it light? No, it was not light. I remember that.

The ogre squints at Uther.

Lost-Looking Ogre says: You probably not the humie I looking for, and I tired of carrying this around. It heavy, and me not allowed to touch it! That no fair. Boss know I work hard.
Remnii says [tongues]: You worked so hard to get here! Why don’t you take a stroll? Or a nap? You worked so hard. Naps are wonderful, especially on a hot day.
Lost-Looking Ogre says: That very nice of blue lady! Are you one of those dray-nai? I heard lots about you. You do all sorts of--

Suddenly, there’s a sound, and a rope of flesh wraps around the ogre’s neck and drags him into the pond. The water starts to darken blood red. There’s a splash of water, and several heads erupt from the water--more ropes shoot out, each one like a long snake that changes color into a bright red. Long sinuous tongues shoot out from the three heads that emerge and lash out at Remnii, Uther, and Elissa. Elissa is able to narrowly evade the tongue, but the tongues wrap around Uther and Remnii and pulls them right off their feet to drag them closer.

It tries to bite Remnii but her bracers activate, deflecting the attack aside.

Tae’shara draws her dagger and runs forward.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: I’ll get you, Remnii!

She flips into the air and attacks with a booming blade. However, her dagger is deflected off the scales.

Tol’vas tries to use phantasmal killer on the hydra, but it doesn’t seem to have the effect he would have hoped for. It seems to have an innate resistance to being frightened, and there are also multiple heads.

Elissa also runs forward to try and help Remnii.

Elissa Cross says: Remnii, I got you!

She draws her sword and draws it across her shield. The sigil of Lordaeron shimmers, and she strikes the ground. A grid appears on the ground beneath her, and an aura of energy manifests. Suddenly, Remnii is safely on the sand, and Elissa is now grappled and restrained in her place.

Remnii says: Elissa!

Remnii is clearly concerned.

Vel activates her bladesong and reaches her hand out. Necrotic energy wafts over the hydra, and its skin seems to shrivel momentarily, it’s skeleton showing beneath its flesh as the curse manifests, changing its creature type to undead.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Uther! Destroy it!
Uther Menethil says: That was always the plan!

He calls back as he is dragged forward by the tongue. He wrestles free, stands up, and then quickens a green flame. The hammer crushes into the hydra’s skull, splitting it into a bloody pulp with a surge of holy energy.

In fear, the hydra attempts to bite Uther, but its jaws glance off his arm. Two other heads bite at Elissa and Tae’shara, but it is also unable to connect. The creature moves back, dragging Elissa into the pool. Uther tries to land a hit, and he hits its already dead head.

Seria transforms into a bear and charges forward, closing on the hydra.

The hydra attempts to grab Uther with its tongue again, but it fails to get a good grasp. Remnii gets to her hooves and tentatively moves forward, using mind whip. It seems to be strangely resistant to the psychic attack. It then bites Tae’shara.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Ge’ off of me, you stupid gross thing!

Vel sees Tae’shara start to incant. She draws a small glyph in the air, and cast her hand forward--casting the hex spell on the creature. She slashes with her dagger, using booming blade, and destroys one of its heads.

However, as it continues to bite, its flesh starts to split apart, regrowing another head.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Shit!

Elissa points her ring at the hydra.

Elissa Cross says: Eat this!

There is a blast of light as she casts faerie fire, the light manifesting on the hydra. Remnii casts spiritual weapon, which smacks into the hydra, and she uses mind sliver. One of the heads looks at Remnii and its tongue shoots at Remnii, coiling around her legs.

There is an echo of a banshee’s scream as Vel uses toll the dead, an after image appearing on one of the hydra’s heads as the spell manifests.

Uther moves forward and strikes again, exploding one of its heads. He quickens a green flame blade, the fire searing over the wounds. Tol’vas casts sunfire, and a blast of radiant light explodes on it, though it seems to be resisting the damage.

Seria claws and bites at the hydra, tearing into the creature’s guts. The blood in the oasis expands even further as she rips it apart, getting the killing blow. She then grabs Elissa to swim her back to shore.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: That was awesome, guys! Good work!

Tae’shara swims back to shore and pulls herself out.

However… none of their party members had emerged to aid.

Elissa Cross says: Is everyone alright? Where are the others?
Uther Menethil says: I have a bad feeling about this.

Remnii is clearly worried, but not to the point of freaking out. She casts sending.

Remnii says [sending]: Samaara, where are you?
Samaara says [sending]: Remnii, are you and the others alright? I’m on my way back.
Remnii says: Samaara said she’s on her way back.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I thought they were supposed to be nearby? What happened?
Remnii says: I don’t know…

A moment later, Samaara appears out of the thicket, her bow drawn.

Samaara says: Praise the Light you’re alright.

She sees the hydra.

Samaara says: You were attacked by one as well? What of the ogre?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Dead.

Remnii nods.

Samaara says: I see. The others are tending to their wounds. As you were speaking, we heard something, and then the beast was upon us. We were able to dispatch it, but they may have been a mated pair. We found something else. Broll is taking a look. It seems to be the cave entrance, as well as some messages… He believes something may have happened to the druids within.
Remnii says: I’m just glad everyone is okay. I guess we found our next thing to do, besides that…

She looks to the box, which Vel had gone to investigate. They are able to pry open the box. Inside, there is some straw, and there is a small case as well as munitions like gunpowder and ammunition as well as alcohol and a pistol.

Vel hands the case wordlessly to Tae’shara.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Don’t mind if I do!

She starts to work on picking the lock while the others look at the pistol. It doesn’t have a grip. It’s just a trigger and weird metallic bits, and it’s not clear how it would be fired. It’s also heavy and unruly. It looks like it can be bolted to something, potentially something like a large ogre forearm.

After some consideration, Remnii recalls that the Shattered Hand tradition of removing a hand does not stop at orcs.

Remnii says: A gun arm is horrifying… but the Shattered Hand is known for having ogres.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Well. I suppose our friend avoided…

She looks at the pond.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Well, he didn’t avoid getting dismembered, I suppose.
Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Oh! Well I guess this is what the stuff is.

She had popped open the box. Inside are bags of white powder.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: It’s their snuff box!
Uther Menethil says: Wait… like… drugs?

Vel goes to examine the contents and rubs a bit between her fingers.

Velameestra Windrunner says: It looks like cocaine.
Uther Menethil says: What does that do?
Velameestra Windrunner says: The high makes it very hard to sleep.

Tae’shara whistles, then looks at Uther as she closes the box again.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Don’t worry about it too much, Uther, I can take care o' it. If there’s any consolation, there aren’t any drug laws around here.
Uther Menethil says: It’s not.

They follow Samaara to the site of the other battle, and they see another dead hydra with the other members of the group. Broll is looking around the cave entrance, where there are more warnings about it not being safe.

Broll Bearmantle says: Tol’vas. Look at this.

He gestures down, and there are footprints.

Broll Bearmantle says: We’re not the only ones that entered here recently. There may be some druids remaining.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: That’s the best case scenario.
Broll Bearmantle says: If we’re lucky we’ll be able to find them before too long.

Vel suggests they take a moment to prepare given the caves were supposedly fed by an underground river and she ritual casts water breathing. Tol’vas takes that opportunity to cast commune with nature. He can’t extend his reach too far, but it’s overwhelming with influence from other planes of existence--unsurprisingly, the Emerald Dream. There is no presence of elementals that he can detect, at least in the immediate area. However, he does pick up four prevalent people not too deep within the cave. It’s just a few hundred feet.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: There are people just a few hundred feet inside.
Broll Bearmantle says: I suppose we would be wise to head in.

Makasa takes the alcohol from the box and puts it in her bag.

Makasa Flintwill says: I’m not sure what we’ll do with cannon balls this far from a ship, but this…

She holds up the powder horn.

Makasa Flintwill says: Is handy. You don’t know when you’ll need an explosion.

However, the arm-graftable canon is dropped into the oasis. Then she looks at Remnii, and grins. She puts a small cannonball in Remnii’s hands.

Makasa Flintwill says: I want to see how far it goes.
Remnii says: That’s mean.
Samaara says: This is pointless.
Makasa Flintwill says: It’s all in good fun!

Remnii tries to throw it, and it just rolls a few feet into the water.

Remnii says: It hit the water. That’s good enough for me.

Makasa laughs, and the rest of the cannonballs are dumped into the oasis. Samaara looks to see if she can get anything from the hydra while Vel finishes the ritual casting of water breathing.

They then start to head into the cave. The entrance almost looks like eyes and a mouth, at least, from what Vel had glimpsed. She can’t help but wonder if that was intentional. Tol’vas takes the lead with Seria and Broll. Tae’shara and Vel take up the rear.

It’s very damp inside. There is very little that is dry, and there is a certain slickness to the earth. The sound of water can be heard dripping, and they find a winding path deeper inside. They can see an indoor river, and there is another pool that the hydra had likely lived in.

There is foliage growing here, and sparse holes in the ceiling can allow some small beams of light to get inside, causing abundant forms of life.

Tol’vas catches the scent of campfire smoke.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: There’s a… campfire nearby?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Are we going to try and take them by surprise, or are we going to just walk in?
Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: If someone wants, I might be able to give someone a hand if they want to look.

Remnii looks to to Broll and Tol’vas.

Remnii says: You too are the most valuable here. How do you want to approach this?
Broll Bearmantle says: We should confirm if they are friend or foe first. We can simply approach unless you want to take a subtle approach.
Samaara says: I can take a closer look if you want to stay here. It smells like it’s right around the bend.

Samaara and Tol’vas opt to creep forward, and Tae’shara casts invisibility on them. The pair goes very quietly, and they can barely even hear their own footsteps as they sneak around the corner.

They see a tent, and hear some quiet conversation in darnassian. Some voices are coming from the tent, which is kaldorei in style. It is made of dark, violet cloth, and there is the flickering of a campfire. There are also bushels full of supplies stacked up nearby.

Feminine Voice says [darnassian]: Please hold still, Ebru. I need to set this leg if you are to recover.
Ebru says [darnassian]: I know. I’m sorry.

As they creep closer, they see two tauren. One of them is bandaging a wound, and druidic magic washes over the injury. The two of them continue to speak back and forth in taur-ahe. Both are male, and one has cream and white fur. He seems to be less injured, wearing leathers in a robe. The other tauren has black fur with auburn flashes.

They continue to converse, mentioning protecting the area of deviants. One suggests collapsing the entrance, and the fact they won’t be able to cleanse the cavern without Ebru’s aid.

Inside the tent, a female tauren is applying a splint. She also looks to be a druid healing the leg of the last individual, who is not a tauren. They are a very androgynous-looking night elf, with skin the color of quicksilver as well as long, green hair that is pulled back into a messy braid that is dirtied with blood.

Samaara taps Tol’vas on the shoulder and whispers.

Samaara says: I believe these people may be allies. We should get the others.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I agree. Quickly. They seem to need help.

They head back to the group and Samaara whistles softly.

Samaara says: It seems they are allies.

Tol’vas gives the group the gist of what he had gathered by listening.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Unfortunately, it seems like there is some sort of corruption further in.
Remnii says: If they are allies, then they likely will know more.

Tol’vas nods, invisibly.

They opt to move forward into the camp, and Tol’vas sheds the invisibility from himself. Broll announces their approach in darnassian. One by one, the tauren peek around the tent.

Tauren Woman says [darnassian]: Oh! Travelers! This place is not safe.

Then she notes the druids.

Light-Furred Male Tauren says [darnassian]: It is not, sister, but perhaps these druids have traveled here for a reason. These caves are not safe, but we could use your assistance if you’ve come here for a reason. Please.

He gestures for the group to enter the camp.

Ebru says [darnassian]: Muyani, who is it?
Muyani says [darnassian]: I don’t think you should walk around.
Ebru says [darnassian]: I need to.

The night elf had also emerged, leaning on their crush. They look at the group, and then opts to switch to common upon noting the strange collection of people.

Ebru says: Did you come to help us? If you are looking to speak with Naralex, I have bad news for you.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: What happened here?
Ebru says: What didn’t happen here. But first, introductions.

The night elf looks to Broll, noting the antlers.

Ebru says: My name is Ebru. I’m the closest thing that we have left to a leader, and we’re all that’s left of the Circle of the Fang. At least those that have not lost their mind. This is Muyoh, Muyani, and Nalpak.

They all look like they had been recently injured, with Ebru being the worst for wear.

Broll Bearmantle says: My name is Broll.
Ebru says: It’s a pleasure, honored shan’do.
Broll Bearmantle says: I am no archdruid. I was lucky enough to be chosen by the Ancients for this gift, though I know not what for. I am a student as much as all of you.

The group goes around and introduces themselves. Ebru does not seem to have any sort of recollection of what Remnii might be.

Ebru says: It’s a pleasure to have you in this hell hole. Welcome to the Wailing Caverns and what’s left of our circle. At this point it’s more of a square. We’ve lost a lot of people, and we may lose more. If I can just recover from this leg...

The night elf tries to stand more solidly.

Muyani says: Ebru, please!
Nalpak says: I fear without Ebru’s help, our options are limited. We may be best to give up on our fallen comrades to ensure their madness doesn’t spread further.
Ebru says: We can’t do that! There could be others we could save.

Nalpak sighs.

Nalpak says: If you truly think they can be brought back from this madness, honored brother, you have been blind to what has happened here.

Ebru looks to the rest of the group.

Ebru says: We should fill you in. A long time ago, back when the Druids of the Fang first came here, we did so because we wished to use the natural boundaries between the Dream and this world that are thinner at this river. The life energies that teem here, Naralex was hoping to use it to breathe life into the Barrens. The Barrens were forcibly transformed, and he hoped to return it to its former splendor. He hoped to use the river here. It worked for a while, and this place was thriving. But… it’s been a long time since he’s been awake. Some of the younger members haven’t even met him. Then some of the others started to get whispers. They said they spoke to him in the Dream, and that he told them things needed to be accelerated or the world would look like the Barrens. They were talking gibberish. We don’t know what’s happened, but they think we’re trying to destroy the river and interrupt Naralex’s work, and they claim he’s the only one that can save them. They attack us, and the wildlife has started to go mad as well. Even if we try to speak to them, they attack us. They prey upon each other even when not hungry. It’s unnatural. At first, their numbers were lesser, but more of our people have not come back, and now it’s just the four of us. Maybe if they had listened… but too many druids wanting to be heroes. But I can’t give up on them. We have to reach Naralex and get him out of there.
Nalpak says: There’s no way you can get to him without crossing paths with the Fanglords.
Ebru says: But if we can distract them!
Nalpak says: You know that won’t work. You tried, and you almost lost yourself to that madness.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: It started with them?
Ebru says: Those that tended to Naralex said something was wrong. First was Scarlet. She went into the Dream to find him, but then started to talk strangely. Started to mention he needed help. That she needed more people to go with him. She convinced the others to go with her. Sareth, one of Naralex’s most gifted pupils, he was next. When he emerged he spoke with a cool calmness. He said he knew what needed to be done, and then more brothers began to disappear. Before long, Jarlaxla and Aryn were lost as well.
Muyoh says: I… fear for what may be happening. Many more brothers are in. The secret lies with the Serpent Lords. A title they have given themselves after they began to turn our brothers and sisters against us.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: How difficult would it be to find them?
Ebru says: If you go to the deepest caverns, I’m sure you’ll find them. Scarletleaf won’t be far from Naralex’s side. We need to incapacitate her. He sleeps in the deeper parts of the barrow dens. The others… it’s hard to say. It’s hard to keep track of them. It’s all we can do to prevent the deviant creatures from leaving this place. We can’t allow their madness to spread.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: So, the first thing we should do, is get at least two of these Serpent Lords?
Muyoh says: I fear the four of them may need to be dealt with. I do not believe Master Naralex is slumbering on his own anymore. The madness has prevented him from awakening. I fear their truth has twisted their intentions, and I do not know if we will be able to save everyone, especially those who have been lost for as long as they have.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Then we got to save as many as we can.

Ebru looks down and away.

Ebru says: Do what you have to do if you’re going in there, just don’t lose yourself to the madness as well. And make sure no one has to suffer. But I would rather them… if their lives must be the price to bring peace, then do what you have to. I would rather them die a peaceful and quick death and return to the Dream than suffer longer than they have.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Your patron? Is it an ideal or an ancient?
Ebru says: It’s a bit of both. They… they’re a quiet one. A whispered one. They hide secrets in the dark places, we were hoping to find something good down here, but we found the opposite. I can’t say much. They’ve been silent for a very long time. They have a name, but they rarely use it. Only the closest of adherents know it, and they don’t speak it for their own protection and perhaps for their paranoia.

Seria notes that the description sounds like a loa she is familiar with. It goes by the name of Dambala, a snake loa, who is known for many things and has many aspects and faces. Usually it has one associated with independence, treachery, and the like. She isn’t sure if it’s the same entity, however.

Ebru says: None of us are nearly strong enough to try and commune with the ancients. Once they’ve been… dealt with, if we are able to reach Naralex, one of us could maybe awaken him, but I don’t know what it will take, and I don’t know if I can do it with this injury.
Muyoh says: I can handle it. I may not be as powerful as you, but you have taught me much. If the spirits are with me, I should be able to awaken him as long as this place is cleansed of its corruption.
Muyani says: I can go with you! Brother, imagine what we can do together.

She smiles.

Nalpak looks to the group.

Nalpak says: Please be safe if you’re going to go in. I can’t stop you, but if you don’t return… we will need to ensure no one ever leaves this cavern. I hope you may prove me wrong.
Ebru says: If we can even save one of our brothers, that would be enough!

Broll nods.

Broll Bearmantle says: We will do what we can. Retrieving a druid of Naralex’s power from the darkness would be a boon for all of us, but I think it is wise for some of us to remain behind. We do not want to be split up in the treacherous caverns, and I do not wish to leave you unprotected.
Remnii says: A wise choice.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: It might be good for you to remain behind, Broll, so they have a way of communication.
Broll Bearmantle says: I’ll ensure they are safe. If anything goes wrong, please retreat back here.

Remnii looks to Samaara.

Remnii says: Samaara, I have a suggestion. If that ogre was waiting for someone, that may mean they will be here for pickup, and I don’t know if we can glean anything from staking it out? Perhaps?

Samaara nods.

Samaara says: That would be wise. If this is the… greenies, if there are others, it would be wise to keep an overwatch. I can do that.

Tae’shara nods.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says: Sounds like a good idea! A few more should stay behind, eh?
Elissa Cross says: I’ll go with you guys.

She steps forward along with Arthas.

Artha Menethil says: Someone needs to make sure you all don’t get yourselves killed. I dare a snake to bite me.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Would you just bite it back?
Arthas Menethil says: Huh. Bite. That’s not a bad name. People name their weapons, right?

He pulls his axe off his back, the one with the blade of crystallized blood.

Arthas Menethil says: Maybe I’ll name this Bite. Plus, this will help light the way.

He pulls his other axe off his back and ignites it.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Right, you can’t see can you?
Arthas Menethil says: No.

Tae’shara, Aramar, Makasa, and Riff settle in with the camp, but Riff looks nervous as he looks at Seria (who is still in her bear form), reaching out to her telepathically.

Riff says [telpathically]: Will you be alright mada? I don’t want you to go crazy either.
Seria says [telepathically]: I’ll be fine, you don’t need to worry.
Riff says [telpathically]: Alright, if any snakes give ya trouble! I’ll fight them back!

He gives Seria a hug.

Samaara says: Be safe. All of you, watch out for each other. No unnecessary risks.
Ebru says: I’ve been fighting these beasts for a while. They’re dangerous. They fight with a single-minded ferocity. If you want to use magic to reach out to them, it may not work. We’ve already tried to use magic to bring them back to their senses, but it hasn’t worked well. Be safe. We’ll keep this place locked down.

The group gathers their things and starts to head deeper into the caverns. It narrows, and the sweet smell of fresh rainfall hits them. Pockets of fungus occasionally light the way. The group is largely silent as they creep into the darkness.

They hear some sounds. As they curve around the corner, it sounds like chewing, and flesh being torn.

The time light of a torch lights the edge of a cavern up ahead, and there is a small leg bone. On top of it is a saurid, its scales beautiful and vibrant red. It is digging into the thigh muscles of the dead raptor.

It then stops, and looks at the group. There is a glow in its eyes, like an unfocused, feral rage. It starts to click, and there is more clicking in the room as more emerge.
