[Horde] Chapter Two: Session Sixteen

0:00

At the “tail end” of the ritual, all 10 members of the party are transformed into spectral wolves that run toward the north. They move super fast.

Kroll’s spectral wolf is murky at its center Yrel’s is a soft oceanic blue, with soft eyes. She is confused by enraptured by the transformation Sadras’s is a fluffy wolf with beads and braids Goel’s is a black wolf Arthak’s wolf is armor-plated and adapts to his transformation Azgadaan’s wolf is red trailing off into pink with green eyes (The brightest of all the wolfs) Sorak’s wolf is a great white wolf with frostwolf tribal tattoos Remnii’s wolf has the draenai tenticles and glows blue and gold like her magic, a spot of green around her chest. Remnii struggles as she goes. Samaara’s wolf-draenai features are more broken, but she handles her transformation with grace Wintermaw is still Wintermaw, but a ghost

They fly over the Frostfire Ridges, safe from the dangers of Draenor.

Sadras starts doing loops and flying through clouds, goading the others to follow her. Remnii keeps her pace, afraid to lose it.

Azgadaan, Sorak and Arthak take in the scenery. Azkadaan sees the volcanos and larger features. Sorak sees villages, ruined and occupied, various caverns and magma. He sees some orcs travelling. But they are unable to see Atagar.

Drek’thar and Sadras have a ghost-wolf race, until Sadras gets distracted by tormenting birds.

Remnii looks to Yrel, and sees that Yrel is watching like she thinks that the race looks like fun. After getting comfortable, Remnii does a sick flip. Yrel joins her.

Go’el says they should head to the ground and find a place to rest. They all dip down as the suns set. Samarra’s eyes crinkle for a moment. She shouts asks Goel if he recognizes something.

There is a large black stone that appears to have been cut, not a natural occurrence. Goel says he hasn’t seen anything like that. But they will head in that direction tomorrow.

The mists starts to wear off and their forms begin to revert. 0:29

Drek’thar is still in his direwolf form. He looks down at them with sightless eyes.

“It was good to run with the pack once more.”

Sorak asks if this was his intention.

Drek’thar agrees, saying that he had no intention of the Frostwolves dragging a cripple across the ridges. It is

“Besides, wasn’t it you that said it is a warrior’s wish to die in his home?”

“I did” Sorak says.

“Then you above all know what has to be done.”

He looks to Goel and the group

“Son of Durotan, it falls to you and yours to lead our clan, and it falls to all of you to correct the mistakes of my generation “

Kroll says they will.

“Always remember. We hunt together, or we die alone.”

He stands one last time, as the wolf begins to dissipate.

“Never forget the lessons you all learn. And that it is never too late to learn more.”

The wolf goes to bite Sorak’s arm, and the wolf passes through him. When Sorak blinks, the wolf is gone. But there is something wrapped around his wrist. A black strip of clothes. He realizes it was Drek’thar’s headband.

There is a wolf howling in the distance, joined by more howls. Wintermaw joins.

Goel says they need to make camp. Sorak is sad but follows.

0:36

They set up camp. Goel says he’s going to watch all night. The group is confused.

He summons several wolves, nearly invisible that flicker. They look to the group knowingly.

Goel says they’ll be alerted if there is any danger.

Azgadaan tells him he has interesting abilities. Goel says there shouldn’t be reason hide them in this company.

Azgadaan cooks. But it’s not very good tonight. Goel tells him he has the making of a great chief.

Wintermaw sniffs one of the hounds. Sorak tells him to get back over to the group. Goel laughs.

During the evening, Sorak sits in shock as he looks at the headband. It feels warm and heavy around his arm. He realizes there is something more to it. Perhaps, Drek’thar infused some of his spirit into it before he pasts.

Sorak acquires the Binding of the Frostwolf.

The night is generally quiet. Remnii talks with Kroll and catches up.

They sleep and have a bork free evening.

0:51

They wake up the next morning well rested.

They should reach Atagar today.

Arthak asks what the plan is. Goel says it depends what they find. They will evacuate if they find them. In any case they will continue to look for the cause of the earthquakes.

There is an earthquake.

They get a walkin’

They look for things. Sorak is distracted, and Wintermaw comforts him.

It starts to snow.

Arthak notices the sound of plate armor shifting in the snow, and soft speaking in a language he doesn’t understand. He pokes Go’el. And the group stops.

There is some speaking in Eredun. They are talking about protecting the perimeter. There are two voices. But Arthak hears multiple armors shifting.

Sorak asks if anyone has magic to see what’s going on. Goel says he does, and uses farsight.

7 Demons. 1, a large one with dark skin and a long tail, two weapons. 4 are foot soldiers. 2 are hounds- bladed hounds. A patrol.

“Felhunter, Felguards, and Wraithguards.” Azkadaan explains, then goes in to explain their weakenesses.

They talk back and forth about what to do, and decide to avoid confrontation. They hunker down and avoid being seen.

Remnii mentions she has invisibility. She uses it on herself and Arthak.

But despite efforts, the felhunters scent the warband. But just as the patrol is getting close, a mysterious hooded figure appeared and covered for the warband.

As the patrol wanders off, invisi-Remnii comes up to observe as the hooded figure turns to them and smirks.

Remnii and the revealed-to-be Satyr banter for a moment before Go’el approaches.

The satyr, still unnamed, reveals that they have been following the party for awhile.

She also reveals the village they are approaching has been wiped out.

1:42

The group, plus satyr, return to their previous campsite.

She introduces herself as Nyxxa, a satyr.

She explains the situation. That the village was destroyed and that warlocks and demons are up to something. The banners are Stormreaver and another unknown symbol. However, she’s vague and the group is hesitant to trust her. She asks for information back but the group is hesitant to offer it.

2:18

The Satyr takes off, returning to her post

Sorak mentions to Goel and Kroll conversing with the elements.

2:21

  1. ShamanStuff

Sorak meditates with Goel and Kroll. Arthak and Sadras watch.

He hears the sound of the earth. It’s in pain.

They ask several questions

Are the demon’s responsible for the earthquakes The earth elemental answers yes in vague terms

They asks them what they’re doing The earth elemental says that they are tearing the world asunder

The final question is they ask where the Ashtongue is. The earth elemental reveals which direction they are

2:34

Remnii wants to catch up with the girls while the others meditates.

Remnii brings up with Yrel and Samarra that they might run into other Ati-Kaso with Akama. She asks if they mention that the Legion is heading to where the Draenai are out now.

It is a difficult question. Samarra agrees, but mentions Akama is an extremist. They only care for destroying the Legion.

Yrel brings up that why not let them destroy the Legion. Things are changing. The more she thinks about it, the more she thinks Akama has the right idea. They should either leave them to fight, or join it.

Remnii brings up that Akama scares her. She wants to play this with caution. The name of the game is survival until the gap can be bridged. She believes in Mu’ru. She wants to meet with him, and know what they are doing. FIrst and foremost they should live. She tells them they should consider.

Yrel looks sad.

Remnii brings up that once they get back to the Exodar, they can get her fitted with some real armor. Yrel hugs Remnii and tells her she loves her. They pull Samarra into a hug too.

 2:54

Azkadaan thinks hard. The name Vilateth does not ring a bell. But it shares a great deal in common with the sub-language of the Nathrezim. But he also recalls that it was referred to as a woman. He doesn’t know of any female Nathrezim.

After some thinking he makes some stew and it’s pretty good.

2:58

So what is the plan?

They discuss several options.

Samarra brings up the idea that they could return to Hellfire and report what they found and put Shaspira on the spot. Arthak agrees at least somewhat. He does also bring up the idea to go and ask questions, as Frostwolves, and as Shaspira’s messenger they have the right to ask questions.

Goel is angered by the destruction of Atigar. And the group worries that since the demons destroyed the city, they might just as easily try to kill them. In which case Goel brings up that they have a way to retreat quickly if necessary.

Arthak brings up the Ashtongue. His business with Akama is personal, so he has no reason to halt the mission to pursue speaking with him. Though the Ashtongue would be good for sieging the camp, working with them might be as dangerous. Not to mention if a demon escapes they will know who was responsible for the attack.

Remnii mentions she too wants to speak with Akama. She doesn’t want to deal with more Legion contact, but isn’t opposed to the other plan.

The two options they come to are as follows -Have Azkadaan talk to the demons. If they try to kill them, they tattle to Shaspira -Go meet with Akama

They decide to meet Akama first. They then consider to split the party, but after some discussion they decide not to.

They pack up and get ready to go. They can make about four hours of travel.

3:32

The group heads off

Sorak tries to track the Ashtongue. He’s able to pick up a scent and they track it through the day.

They see a series of stones. Except. They’re tents disguised to to look like stones. There is one singular figure standing outside the tent. Kroll and Samarra notice that there are others looking at them. They’re everywhere. Over a dozen broken Draenei.

And Kaylaan.

He greets them, and comments how “fucking awful” the weather is, to Sorak. Sorak comments that no one else bothers them there. Kaylaan says it’s good to see them. Well. Most of them.

Kaylaan tries to goad Arthak, commenting that he had heard the next time Arthak saw him, the orc was going to cut him down. However, when Arthak doesn’t act, he starts to talk, commenting that Arthak was probably going to say it was all a show.

Arthak said it wasn’t, but they were there on other business. Kaylaan continues to goad him, expressing it was probably more Legion business, and how he wonders what Master Samuro would think of such.

Arthak said they were there to speak with Akama, to hear what he knows.

Kaylaan said that he isn’t convinced Arthak would listen to what he had to said, as Arthak seems to only hear what he wants to hear.

Arthak asks Kaylaan what he’s going to do. Kaylaan responds that he can take them to the Ashtongue, but he can’t guarantee safety. At least not for anyone but the draenei. After asking the others, Arthak agrees to the terms.

However, Kaylaan is not intending on waiting. They can either follow now, weary as they are, or set up camp and follow the tracks. They decide to follow now, as it may at least prove something to Akama.

In the meanwhile, Kaylaan asks Remnii where Spinyl is. Remnii informs him that she is back in Wor’gol, and Remnii is willing to send her a message if Kaylaan would like.

Kaylaan said she can start by telling Spinyl to get out while she can. Advice Remnii should follow as well. He then looks ahead and mentions that Arthak would be easy to take now, though he’s not particularly serious and didn’t expect Remnii to answer. Remnii, however, retorts that he “doesn’t know when the great deceiver will strike,” which gives Kaylaan a good laugh.

4:00

Meanwhile, with Nyxxa. She makes her way back to Forge Camp Wrath, the large obelisk a beacon at its center. The camp is swarming with demons. As she gets closer, she hears a fluttering of wings, and a succubus flutters down from one of the nearby apparatuses.

The succubus muses the shadow-dancer took a while to report back. Nyxxa said she got turned around in the snow, and the succubus comments that they don’t have time for one of their best scouts getting lost in the snow like a common wyrmtongue.

The succubus asks if she found anything, and Nyxxa said she found a lot of snow, but no Ashtongue. The succubus sighs, and mutters about the information being useless and the captain wasn’t going to like it. Nyxxa said she’s doing what she could, and she could try to look for them, but that may take her a while.

The succubus sighs again, and mentions that this weather is the weather the Ashtongue prefer, and they need to keep an eye out.

Nyxxa apologizes, and says she’ll do better. The succubus comments that she hopes that Veela won’t be cutting her pay. The succubus, Vizzra, then goes off to inform her superiors.

Nyxxa goes to keep watch. While doing so, she hears two felguards discussing that one of their patrols had gone missing, likely taken by the Ashtongue. His partner said they should just march on the Ashtongue in force, but the first said that isn’t their duty. Their responsibility is to protect the forge camp.

She also sees a warlock go into the obelisk with something, and return later. She also sees some of the warlocks going in and out of a nearby cave.

Throughout the night, the manticore continues to make rounds. It appears through the teleporter, moves up toward the obelisk, and then goes to sleep outside it. It reports directly to the overseer. Adamantine stalkers are also chained up throughout the camp.

After a while, the obelisk slides open, and Nyxxa sees a tall, regal figure step out. It’s the overseer. She’s a winged demon. She hums as she walks, and draping from her face is a strange apparatus.

The demon approaches the manticore, and strokes it affectionately, before sending it on its way on another mission.
