Rule-of-Three was a cambion that was aiding Graz'zt in a ploy to unite the baatezu, tanar'ri, and yugoloths into one fearsome army.
Description
Rule-of-Three was an exceedingly handsome cambion with dark gray-obsidian skin and large leathery wings. He had digitigrade legs with claw-like feet that each had six toes.
History
Tyranny of Dragons
Rule-of-Three had managed to maneuver himself into a seat of influence over the Ashmadai stationed in Neverwinter by posing as an individual representing the interests of the Children of Mordai Vell—the bastard children of the promiscuous cult leader that had thusly inherited his assets upon his death. He had reached out to the member of the Spellforged, Odd, with the intention of swaying her under his influence as well and use her to gather more of the children by setting her on the trails of her half-siblings. However, Odd and the rest of the Spellforged had refused his offer, opting to seek out more of the siblings and warn them against the words of the cambion.
In an attempt to scare the group into believing they needed his protection, Rule-of-Three arranged for a group of yugoloths to stow away on the ship they were taking to Waterdeep. However, the fiends were defeated.
Eventually, the found-sibling Temperance was found to be the eldest located child of Mordai Vell, and she opted to use proof of her lineage and seniority to gather enough evidence to oust Rule-of-Three from his position as representative of the Children of Mordai Vell, dismantling his influence and forcing him to flee.
Rule-of-Three's activities following immediately his ousting was unknown, but he was uncovered by a combination of Farideh and Nayiss Ourobori to be serving disguised as an advisor to the god-king Gilgeam in Unthalass when the Spellforged accompanied Ourobori Jarkul to discuss a peace treaty between Tymanther and Unther. Nayiss called him out on his true identity, forcing him to reveal himself, and the negotiations began to rapidly crumble given suspicions that emerged due to his presence—given that Gilgeam had supposedly requested the hands of both Farideh and Nayiss in exchange for peace in the absence of the Thymari Vanquisher.
Diplomacy quickly deteriorated into conflict, and during the fight, Rule-of-Three was smashed out of the sky by Lewis Courser and then trapped within an iron flask by Hostu Twinsmiles.
