College of Comfort

Bards of the College of Comfort seek to bring joy and ease to the world. With the world filled with dragons, undead, and crazy wizards, these bards bring comfort to those who might fall into despair at the sight of it all. Often seen in taverns or in adventuring parties, their charm and magic allows creatures to always rest at ease, and to overcome adversity wherever they may face it.

Comforting Voice

When you join the College of Comfort at 3rd level, you gain the ability to bring solace to allies in an otherwise dangerous environment. As a bonus action, you can expend and roll one of your Bardic Inspirations to empower multiple creatures through adversity. When you do so, choose a number of creatures within 60 feet of you who can hear you, up to a number equal to your proficiency bonus. Until the end of your next turn, they gain a bonus to the next saving throw they make equal to half of the roll (minimum +1).

Blissful Repose

Also at 3rd level, people rest incredibly well when you are nearby. Any creature who gains the benefits of your Song of Rest also decreases their exhaustion level, if any, by 1. A creature can benefit from this type of Song of Rest only once per long rest.

Additionally, any creature who finishes their long rest within 30 feet of you regain all of their spent Hit Dice, rather than half.

Condensed Rest

Starting at 6th level, you can bless a creature with an hour of rest through a 6-second nap. As an action, you can touch a willing creature within 5 feet of you, causing them to fall unconscious until the end of your next turn. This effect ends early if the target takes damage, and creatures who are immune to magical sleep cannot be affected by this feature. If the target remains unconscious for the full duration, they return to consciousness and gain the benefits of a short rest alongside your Song of Rest.

A creature can only be affected by this feature once per long rest. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher to use it again. You can spend a spell slot of any level to use it again on yourself if you haven’t already been affected by this feature.

Overcoming Failure

Starting at 14th level, you can reinvigorate those who have recently failed. Whenever you use your Comforting Voice, you can give one creature affected by it a Bardic Inspiration die without expending any of your Bardic Inspiration uses. This creature must have failed an ability check, saving throw, or attack roll since the end of your last turn in order to receive this free Bardic Inspiration die.

Additionally, creatures under the effect of your Comforting Voice have advantage against being frightened or charmed.
