Circle of Crystals

Those who take upon the circle of crystals adopt the beauty and power of the earth. Allowing many to remain clean of metal, these druids can embody the very gemstones themselves and create beneficial gems to their allies.

Magic Gems

When you adopt this circle at 2nd level, you can transmute stone into magical gems. You learn the Magic Stone cantrip. It counts as a druid cantrip for you, and it does not count against the number of druid cantrips you know. When casting it, you can turn the pebbles into tiny gems, providing these additional benefits:

  • A creature can throw or hurl one of these gems as a bonus action.
  • When a creature would be the target of an attack or be forced to make a saving throw and has one of these gems in hand, they can use their reaction to grant themselves a +1 bonus to their AC and saving throws until the end of their attackers turn. Doing so destroys the gem. This bonus increases by 1 at 6th level (+2) and 14th level (+3).
  • The spell's damage increases by 1d6 at 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6) in this class.
  • The spell's duration is increased, remaining active until you finish a short rest, destroy the stone, or throw it.

You can cast Magic Stone with these benefits once per short or long rest, unless you spend a spell slot to regain a use.

Crystal Form

At 2nd level, you gain the ability to empower yourself with crystals and alter your form. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to take on a crystal form, rather than transforming into a beast.

While in your crystal form, you retain your game statistics, but your body becomes crystalline; your body hardens and becomes reflective, and your weight is multiplied by four. This form provides you a base AC of 17 (your Dexterity modifier doesn't affect this number). You gain no nonmagical benefits from any armor you are wearing while in this form, but if you are using a shield, you can apply the shield's bonus as normal. The form lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you dismiss it (no action required), are incapacitated, die, or use this feature again.

Whenever you assume your crystal form, choose which of the following gemstones composes your body; your choice gives you certain benefits while in the form:

  • Corundum. Your body adopts a ruby or sapphire appearance. Choose ruby or sapphire. Choosing ruby grants you fire resistance for the duration, while sapphire grants you cold resistance for the duration. Additionally, any hostile creature within 5 feet of you takes an amount of slashing damage equal to your Wisdom modifier when moving away or around you.
  • Quartz. Your body imbues itself with healing crystals. Whenever you heal a creature or be healed, you can reroll any of the healing die when they roll a 1 or 2.
  • Diamond. Your body has become incredibly hard. The first time you would take damage on each turn, you reduce the damage taken by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus.

Diamond Protection

At 6th level, you can protect yourself from damage through a crystal cocoon. Your crystal form base AC increases to 18.

As a reaction when you take damage, you can surround yourself in crystal, which breaks away at the start of your next turn. You gain 10 temporary hit points per druid level, which take as much of the triggering damage as possible. Immediately after you take the damage, you gain vulnerability to bludgeoning damage, your speed is reduced to 0, and you are incapacitated. These effects, including any remaining temporary hit points, all end when the crystal breaks.

Once you have used this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Improved Carats

At 10th level, your crystal form has improved. Your crystal form's base AC increases to 19. Corundum now grants you resistance to nonmagical slashing and piercing damage, Quartz lets you reroll rolled 1 to 3's on healing die, and Diamond is now double your proficiency bonus rather than proficiency.

Polished to Perfection

At 14th level, your crystal form base AC increases to 20, and you can choose to become Large when taking it on.

Once per long rest, you can cast Greater Restoration, Transmute Rock, or Wall of Stone without expending a spell slot or requiring material components.
