Talent of the Elemental Prodigy
Certain conduits possess an innate knowledge of the very essence emanated by the planes. Fewer still know how to harness this essence to overwhelm adversities that come their way. Those known as Elemental Prodigies can shape their favoured plane's magic into unconventional spells or empower both themselves and their allies. In time, they can channel the elements to even harm those normally attune to what they wield.
Elemental Power
Upon taking this talent at 3rd level, your favoured plane has a specific damage type. The damage type associated with your favoured plane is used by features you gain later.
Plane Damage
| Plane | Damage Type |
|---|---|
| Air | Lightning |
| Fire | Fire |
| Earth | Acid |
| Water | Cold |
| Chaos | Your choice between Acid, Cold, Fire, or Lightning (you must switch each time you finish a long rest) |
| Order | Poison |
| Life | Radiant |
| Death | Necrotic |
| Astral | Psychic |
| Ethereal | Force |
Planar Specialist
Also at 3rd level, you have specialized in crafting spells tied to your favoured plane. You can perform the following:
- When you cast a spell that deals damage, you can change the damage type to the type associated with your favoured plane.
- When dealing your favoured plane's damage type to a creature resistant to it, you can cause them to take extra damage equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
You can only use one of these effects at a time.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses upon finishing a long rest.
While casting spells through your rift's space, you can use this feature without expending any uses.
Elemental Burst
At 6th level, you can empower your planar spells when the time is needed. When casting a spell from your Favoured Plane spell table, you can cast it as if using a spell slot one levels higher than the consumed spell slot.
Once you have used this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest, or once per rift if you cast it from your rift's space.
Primordial Power
Starting at 10th level, you can imbue your chosen plane into your allies. Each time a willing creature within 30 feet of you or inside your rift's radius would deal damage, you can spend your reaction to use your Planar Specialist feature on them, changing the damage type to that of your favored plane. Doing so on a creature inside your rift's radius does not expend any uses of the feature.
Moreover, you gain resistance to your favoured plane's damage type. If you were already resistant, you instead reduce damage taken from that type by an amount equal to your Intelligence modifier (after resistance calculation).
Fury of the Planes
At 14th level, your connection to the plane can overwhelm even those native to it. When dealing your favoured plane's damage type to a creature immune to it, they are instead treated as resistant to that damage type.
Moreover, you can now use both effects of your Planar Specialist feature at once.
