Approach of the Spectral Harvest
While the goal of many soul-seer is to aid the dead to depart from the material plane, they are others who use death to empower the living. Those who take on the Spectral Harvest use the lingering energy of the dead for the own use, empowering themselves through the dead to aid the spirits they seek to atone.
Mark of the Harvest
Upon taking this approach at 3rd level, you connection to spirits has allowed you the ability to curse the souls of others. As a bonus action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target's soul is marked for 1 minute. The mark ends early if the target or you die. Until the mark ends, you gain the following benefits:
- You ignore any benefits it may have from being invisible or hidden.
- Each time this creature makes a saving throw, you roll a d4 and deduct it from their save.
- If the marked creature dies, you regain a spell slot of a level equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down).
Devour Experience
Also at 3rd level, you can harness a portion of a creature's capabilities upon its death. When a creature dies within 30 feet of you, you can spend your reaction to absorb a fragment of their essence. You gain proficiency in one skill the target was proficient in (DM's choice). You retain this proficiency until you finish a long rest, or until you use this feature again.
Once you have used this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Consume Essence
At 6th level, you can channel the souls of the dead to empower yourself. As an action, you can release one of your tethered spirits. Doing so provides one of the following benefits of your choice:
- You regain a number of hit points equal to double the soul's Challenge Rating.
- For the next 10 minutes, you gain proficiency in a saving throw the soul had while it was alive.
- For the next minute, you gain up to two resistances the soul had while it was alive.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.
Feast on the Wicked
Starting at 10th level, the approach of death onto your foes vitalizes you. When the target marked by your Soul Claim feature would take damage, you can spend a reaction to gain a number of temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt. Additionally, you can automatically tether the target's soul when they die, rather than needing to spend a reaction.
Bountiful Soul
At 14th level, you can enhance your body to greater potentials when consuming the dead. You can choose one of the following benefits when using your Consume Essence feature:
- For the next hour, you change one of your Ability Scores to be the same value as the same Ability Score that soul had while it was alive.
- Until the end of your next long rest, your hit points and hit point maximum increase by an amount equal to the soul's Challenge Rating.
- Until the end of your next long rest, you know any spells and languages it knew.
Once you have gained either of these benefits, you can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
