Using your cartographer's tools and special ink, you sketch an accurate map of the surrounding area. The map can detail an area up to 1 mile, with you at the center.

In underground or indoor settings, the map's area is limited to 250 feet. The map details the location and name of major landmarks, rooms, and areas. If you are proficient with cartographer's tools, the map contains minute details, which can include color, minor landmarks, and even furniture, but not secret doors or hidden areas.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the maximum size of the map increases by 1 mile for outdoor areas or 250 feet for indoor areas for each slot level above 2nd. Using a spell slot of 6th level or higher grants a duration that lasts until dispelled.
