You trace a sigil of warding.
Trigger. A visible creature targeting you with a melee attack.
Effect. You impose Disadvantage on the creature's attack roll against you.
Cantrip Progression. This spell improves in certain ways when you reach higher levels.
- 5th level: You can ignore the verbal component of the spell.
- 11th level: You can cast this spell when you are targeted by a ranged attack.
- 17th level: If the attack still hits, reduce the damage you take by an amount equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.
- 23rd level: If the attack misses, the creature takes force damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.
- 28th level: You can impose Disadvantage on all attacks the creature makes against you until the end of the current turn.
