Target. One creature within range.
Attack Roll. Ranged spell attack.
Hit. 1d8 necrotic damage, and the target can't regain hit points until end of your next turn. If the creature is undead, it has disadvantage on attack rolls for this duration.
Cantrip Progression. This spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), 17th level (4d8), 23rd level (5d8), and 28th level (6d8).
