Seeming

1st-Level Illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: VS
Duration: 1 hour

Effect. You make yourself—including your clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on your person—look different until the spell ends or until you use your Action to dismiss it. You can seem up to 1 foot shorter or taller and can appear thin, fat, or in between. The changes wrought by this spell fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example, if you use this spell to add a hat to your outfit, objects pass through the hat, and anyone who touches it would feel nothing or would feel your head and hair. If you use this spell to appear thinner than you are, the hand of someone who reaches out to touch you would bump into you while it was seemingly still in midair. If you used the spell to appear to have wings, the hand of someone who reaches out to touch them would pass through them.
Special. A creature can use its Action to inspect a target and make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. If it succeeds, it becomes aware that the target is disguised.
At Higher Levels.
  • 3rd level or higher: You may instead target another creature within 30 feet. An unwilling target may make a Charisma saving throw, and is unaffected by the spell on a success.
  • 5th level or higher: You may target any number of creatures of your choice that you can see within 30 feet, the duration is now 8 hours.
  • 7th level or higher: You may target any number of creatures of your choice that you can see within 60 feet, and the duration is now 24 hours.
  • 9th level or higher: The spell lasts until dispelled.
  • 11th level or higher: You may target any number of creatures of your choice that you can see within 120 feet.

Rulings

Does a successful Perception check allow a creature to see through the disguise?
No, the creature only specifically knows the creature is magically disguised, but not what is under the disguise.
