Shadowburn
8th-level Evocation
Casting Time: 1 reaction
Range: 30 feet
Components: VS
Duration: Instantaneous
You lash out with shadowflame against a creature you can see within range. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw. The target takes 12d6 fire damage and 12d6 shadow damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The creature has disadvantage on the saving throw if they have less than half of their remaining hit point total.
If you use a soul shard to cast this spell, you may reroll any number of damage dice, but must take the new results even if they are lower. If this spell reduces a creature to 0 hit points, they die and you gain two soul shards, which don't count against your normal limit of one soul shard.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level or higher, the fire damage of this spell increases by 1d6 and the shadow damage of this spell increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 8th.
