January 1st

Aracyra and Azgadaan make it back to her room, and Aracyra stays in her washroom for the better part of an hour and a half. Azgadaan also checks in with Orianelle, who is currently tending to Zaela. She hopes they can move her tomorrow.

While Azgadaan waits for Aracyra to finish, he spends some time reading as he found a book on the history of the Magistrate.

Aracyra emerges in a long, sleeveless dress.

Aracyra says: Sorry that took so long. I just needed to get myself back together.
Azgadaan says: Not a problem, and I don’t blame you after something like that. Taking a nice soak is one of the joys in life after such a harrowing journey.

Aracyra nods in agreement and then flops down on the bed. Azgadaan makes his way over to her and sits down next to her, and her tail flips onto his leg.

Azgadaan says: Do you need to talk about anything, or unwinding?
Aracyra says: I don’t know what there is to talk about. Mother made it clear she wasn’t happy with what happened. I shouldn’t have gone out in the first place.
Azgadaan says: That’s not fair. You did your best, you came back here alive. You did better than Mal’Ganis, didn’t you?

Aracyra’s eyes widen for a moment, and she covers her mouth in an attempt to cover her laughter.

Aracyra says: I suppose you’re right, though I never wanted to think about that. I would be afraid to see what he would say, but he can’t hear you right now, can’t he?
Azgadaan says: Indeed he can’t, and he won’t have complex thoughts for a while, I imagine.
Aracyra says: Azgadaan! But no, you’re right. I did everything I could, but it was a lot, not to mention… that Garrosh Hellscream is not exactly a favorable traveling companion.
Azgadaan says: Not many orcs are. It took a while to get used to Arthak and the rest, but, I’m still getting used to them, lets say.
Aracyra says: You’re right. I did do my best, and I had to stomp through enough mud to last me the rest of my year.
Azgadaan says: Well. Hopefully the next time you go on an adventure, there isn’t as much mud, and I’m with you.
Aracyra says: I hope so too.

She turns on her side and looks at Azgadaan.

Aracyra says: I appreciate you trying to cheer me up, Azgadaan. I just wish I could have done more. I imagine my mother could have succeeded. I just…
Azgadaan says: She may have, but she wasn’t there. And… there’s nothing that can change that. They have the sword, we have to deal with it. And we can deal with it with progress. It’s something we can do something about. It’s always better to look at the positive and what we can affect, instead of what we can’t.
Aracyra says: I just wish mother would see it that way. For her it’s always about results. She’ll handle things, but this doesn’t look good on my record.
Azgadaan says: Well, we’ll just have to fix that, won’t we?
Aracyra says: If she doesn’t send me back to Argus first.
Azgadaan says: Then why don’t we do something before she gets the chance? She did say relax in your room, and she didn’t put a time limit on that. Look. I’ve put a small list of things together so we can get the ball rolling on fixing things.
Aracyra says: Azgadaan. Are you suggesting I disobey my mother?
Azgadaan says: I’m suggesting that you show your mother what you’re capable of. That you don’t need to have your hand held… or, well, directed by her. You are your own person. You can do great things.

Aracyra slowly sits up and nods.

Aracyra says: I… I guess she didn’t say explicitly say how long I should stay here. And ultimately, we need as much help as we could get.
Azgadaan says: Indeed! I’d like to hear what you want to do.
Aracyra says: Yes, so we’re not disobeying, we’re just making good use of our time.

Azgadaan offers the list to her, and Aracyra takes a look at it

Aracyra says: You really have quite the idea already, don’t you? I guess I feel silly for not having a plan.
Azgadaan says: The only reason I’m okay at this is, well, I left my father for eight or nine months now? But being your own person has its trials.
Aracyra says: I can see what I can do. I believe some of these mirrors…

She gestures to the mirrors in the room.

Aracyra says: I think they can use them for scrying. Maybe I can look in on some of the people you’ve met so we can see how quickly they’re moving.
Azgadaan says: That could help. And we need to look into intelligent undead, because I believe that’s what their king is.
Aracyra says: My mother may know things, but I can’t say for sure. I have a basic knowledge, but I don’t know if I can guess if he’s been raised.

Azgadaan mentioned that he had been leaving his weapon in the care of Orianelle, and asks Aracyra if she’s trustworthy. Aracyra explains she was one of the Sargerai, and she turned on her people relatively recently to join the Legion. Aracyra muses that she believes some of them may be trying to infiltrate the Legion.

Talk also turns briefly to Jaraxxus, and Aracyra explains he’s been active, though she believes her mother’s activity is keeping him away from Azeroth directly. There’s a degree of rivalry between Jaraxxus and Shaspira.

Azgadaan also muses that Shaspira may have some poor feelings toward his family due to his mother’s betrayal, and he gets the sense Aracyra may have her own opinions on that that she’s not sharing.

He then mentions that Shaspira had referred to him as her protégé, and he asks her her opinion on that. She seems uncertain and muses that she probably wants to rely on him, or potentially keep an eye on him. He then asks if it’s safe to talk, and she takes a quick look around with her shadow and believes it’s okay.

Azgadaan asks if she had heard of General Rakeesh, which she confirms she has.

Azgadaan says: I was in the hull of the Summerfall. He reached out with some sort of magical link. He asked me to come to the deck of the ship, and as soon as I got up there, there was a blade in my back. Then he went on about who I can trust, yadda yadda, and one or two things about your mother. He gave me the sigil to contact Kil’jaeden directly. So I have to contend with that, your mother, and a few other things.

Aracyra exhales.

Aracyra says: Azgadaan, the fact you’re alive means that he didn’t want to kill you. They call him the Terminus Butcher. He’s responsible for bringing many worlds to their knees. Some were destroyed, while others joined the Legion willingly, or otherwise. He’s one of Kil’jaeden’s closest servants. And of his disciples, has one of the most impressive military records under the left hand. There’s always a great deal of competition between the servants of the left and the right. My mother, Lady Shaspira, is on the opposite side of the fence. As the current leader of the triple A, she works under Archimonde. But Rakeesh answers directly to Kil’jaeden. If he’s also trying to reach out to you… I trust you haven’t told my mother this?
Azgadaan says: She asked me. I told her no.
Aracyra says: I’d keep it that way.
Azgadaan says: She also asked me about my father, and I told her no, which is the truth. I’d rather work for my own interests, or, well, working for you would be better than working for your mother or Rakeesh.

Aracyra blushes and is rendered speechless for a moment.

Aracyra says: But, Azgadaan, if he extended an offer, there’s a lot he could offer. And my mother, she has resources… why me?
Azgadaan says: For one, I actually like you. The other two, one attacked me, and one doesn’t really care about me.

There’s a mixture of shock and a sparkle in Aracyra’s eye. She scoots over and wraps her arm around Azgadaan’s.

Aracyra says: I… I don’t know what to say, Azgadaan. Honestly, I’d never really considered anything like this. You have more faith in me than I’ve ever had faith in myself. But, you’re right about a lot of things right now, and I certainly do like you.

Azgadaan smiles.

Azgadaan says: Well, at least I have confirmation on that now.

He winks, and Aracyra chuckles and then kisses him. They discuss a bit more about their plans, and Aracyra mentions he’s welcome to stay with her if he ever feels inclined.

Arthak, meanwhile, is making arrangements for any non-essential noncombatants to go back through the portal to Draenor for the duration of the battle.

He then goes to track down Azuka.

Arthak Saurfang says: Azuka.
Azuka says: Yes, chieftain?
Arthak Saurfang says: I um, you’ve heard of what’s happened.

Azuka nods.

Azuka says: Yeah.
Arthak Saurfang says: Then I have a task for you.
Azuka says: What?
Arthak Saurfang says: I need you to find Mankrik and Mahka and a few warriors, and I need you to go through the portal and guard our people until this is done.

Azuka nods.

Azuka says: You’re afraid.
Arthak Saurfang says: I know what’s coming.
Azuka says: Okay.
Arthak Saurfang says: You’ll make me proud. I have something I would like you to have.

Azuka furrows her brow and cocks her head. Arthak takes out one of the shards of Varg and hands it to her.

Arthak Saurfang says: I don’t expect you to know what this is.
Azuka says: This is a piece of your sword.
Arthak Saurfang says: It was. My grandfather, when he died, I took his blood and his ashes and forged them into this blade. It’s broken now, but it will not remain that way. I hold the pieces of it, but, I would like you to have this one.
Azuka says: He was not my ancestor. I don’t… okay.

She accepts the shard, and Arthak nods and gives her a pat on the shoulder before leaving her to his business. However, as he leaves, she calls after him.

Azuka says: Chieftain. Don’t die.
Arthak Saurfang says: You said I keep losing parts but I come back. There’s some parts I can’t lose. I made sure they’re safe.

Arthak turns and keeps going, and Azuka stands and watches him go. However, then a small rock hits him on the back of the head. Arthak glances back and sees Azuka angrily storming away.

Gramgun also relents to stay and helm the one ship that can fight.

Arthak Saurfang says: Don’t make it your last voyage, Gramgun. Who else would I name the next settlement after?
Gramgun Laughingeye says: I dunno. Maybe your mate. Or your daughter.
Arthak Saurfang says: … You attribute me more charm than I have.
Gramgun Laughingeye says: You dote on her more than your bleedin’ mate! Most people would have half a dozen pups in your mate by now, and you pick one up off the bleedin’ streets. But nah. She’s a good lass. But be careful, Arthak. People need you. The barrier is down, you could jump on a ship with your ol’ pal Gramgun and leave, but nah, don’t even deign that with a response.
Arthak Saurfang says: You’ve been here since the beginning. I’ll always be thankful.
Gramgun Laughingeye says: Don’t mention it.
Arthak Saurfang says: Stay alive.
Gramgun Laughingeye says: I’ll do me best. I didn’t get this far for this wrong throwing myself headlong into danger. At least until I met you. But we’ll make it through this.
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes.

Gramgun grabs his crew and a few more fighters to man the Summerfall for the battle.

Gel’nok also opts to stay and protect the forge, as Arthak knows what he needs to know.

Arthak then hunts down Azgadaan.

Arthak Saurfang says: Azgadaan. I, um… I need to ask you something.
Azgadaan says: Sure. My place of dwelling is just around the corner. Lets talk there.
Arthak Saurfang says: Very well.

They get to Azgadaan’s residence.

Arthak Saurfang says: I have a few things to ask of you. First is Aracyra. Do you trust her?
Azgadaan says: Not with certain secrets, but I trust her well enough.
Arthak Saurfang says: She’s skilled with magics of the mind I believe. I’ve heard it said, at least.
Azgadaan says: She cast a spell that seemed to get everyone around me and her disinterested, yes.
Arthak Saurfang says: Alright. Are we being watched?

Azgadaan has no way to check.

Arthak Saurfang says: Mmm. We’ll risk it. I need her help with something.
Azgadaan says: With anything in particular, or is that part of the secret?
Arthak Saurfang says: Part of the secret.
Azgadaan says: Alright. I can send her a message. When do you want to talk?
Arthak Saurfang says: Tomorrow.
Azgadaan says: Alright. I’ll bring her and myself here tomorrow. Have you seen Mork?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yeah. Last I saw him, he was irritating Gramgun.
Azgadaan says: Good. Considering for the battle, I would like to gather Mork and a few of his fellow peons to go search the isles for certain provisions to help us in this fight.
Arthak Saurfang says: Sound idea.
Azgadaan says: Especially resistance potions perhaps.
Arthak Saurfang says: Anything to protect us from Frostmourne…
Azgadaan says: That reminds me. I saw, oh, whats his name. The one that jumped through the portal with Frostmourne?
Arthak Saurfang says: Ner’zhul.
Azgadaan says: Do you remember what spell he used to remove the blade from you?
Arthak Saurfang says: It was some sort of… it took away the curse of the blade. I’m unfamiliar with spellcraft, but I could see his intent.
Azgadaan says: Wonderful. I can prepare remove curse. If we fight her in battle, we can remove her attunement.
Arthak Saurfang says: Useful. In regards to that, I need to see her. You spoke the other day of a spell that would allow one to enter the dreams of another.
Azgadaan says: Indeed. Be aware it can turn foul. You can give her a nightmare and there’s a degree of corruption from that.
Arthak Saurfang says: Not my intent.
Azgadaan says: I know. But I was warning you. But yes, I can send you into that trance.

Arthak thanks Azgadaan.

Arthak Saurfang says: Do you think we’ll make it through this battle?
Azgadaan says: I imagine we will. We haven’t lost quite yet. Just don’t die to the sword, that would be a little hard to reverse.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ll try.
Azgadaan says: And if I die, gather my things and wait a few months.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ll reserve a place for you.

Azgadaan laughs.

Azgadaan says: Thanks. By the way, we may need to contact Gul’dan or any strong casters to see if they can slow down the enemy ships. Maybe a storm or something. A storm would be handy, it would tire their crew.
Arthak Saurfang says: Sound idea. I can send word to elder Gul’dan and see what he’s able to add. I imagine we’ll see a compliment of Stormreaver warlocks as well as whatever the Shattered Hand can sapre.
Azgadaan says: Mm. They should be interesting to see fight.
Arthak Saurfang says: Interesting is a word.
Azgadaan says: Anyway, if there’s nothing else, I’ll find Mork and his companions.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’m spent. Thank you.
Azgadaan says: Happy to entertain you anytime. I’ll see you this evening for your dream.
Arthak Saurfang says: That should be… entertaining.

Halno, meanwhile, is speaking with Sagaz.

Halno says: Ah, Sagaz, good to see you.
Sagaz says: Uh. Hello, master Halno.
Halno says: So, now that you can read and write in common, I believe it’s time we properly begin working. From this day moving forward you will accompany me in all research, meetings, and other magical matters to familiarize yourself more. Unless you’d like to bow out of your apprenticeship.
Sagaz says: I suppose this means I’ll be staying to help protect the town from the attack?

Halno taps his chin.

Halno says: I suppose that’s your choice, isn’t it?
Sagaz says: I’m going to stay then.
Halno says: Excellent. Then yes, you will assist in whatever way you can.
Sagaz says: Good. My family is well protected where they are.
Halno says: You’re old enough to make your own decisions. You’re a grown orc.

Sagaz smiles.

Sagaz says: Shall we begin, then? I don’t want to hold up your research.
Halno says: Excellent.

He passes Sagaz a bunch of parchment and they start to get right into spellcraft. They start to try and make a spell.

At some point, Halno also takes a look at Belo'vir's spellbook, which, upon his examination, it seems to be a lengthy treatise on bird watching penned by a Tyrdanis Windrunner, who had passed away about 2000 years ago. He was a renowned birdwatcher who loved birds so much that he wrote this treatise for any individuals who would be inclined to follow in his footsteps.

The book reads like a droning and roundabout circular book that is talking about how much this man likes birds, such as a full six pages on the majestic chickadee alone. It’s almost comical to read.

Over time, Halno does notice evidence of a code. In some places, there seems to be diagrams that perhaps hide spell circles. However, it’s a very, very well-written code.

Azgadaan finds Levia.

Azgadaan says: So, Levia, I was hoping to task you with something important.
Levia Blackflight says: What’s up?
Azgadaan says: Would you be able to at all divine when the attack may occur? Like within the week, or longer?
Levia Blackflight says: Shit. I could try. I think there’s a way, but I’ll need to get some stuff.

Azgadaan hands over some money.

Levia Blackflight says: Shit, yeah, this should be enough. Once everyone gathers back together I can take a try.
Azgadaan says: Alright. Time to put Arthak to sleep, then. Thank you. Good night.
Levia Blackflight says: You too!

Azgadaan then goes to meet up with Orianelle, who is still tending to Zaela, who had consented to treatment from the Legion.

Azgadaan says: Can you keep something secret?
Orianelle says: I practice patient confidentiality, yes.
Azgadaan says: Alright. So.

He then goes into potentially getting birth control.

Orianelle says: Oh, you need not concern yourself. It’s curious. It differs dramatically between our species. After the eredar became immortal and the draenei went off in a different direction, the eredar’s ability to reproduce became voluntary. It’s strange. It’s a circumstance they find has been replicated in several other races, but appears that while races that produce sexually like eredar and other once-mortal races, it appears that while they engage in sexual intercourse with another demon there is no chance of reproduction unless one of the parties wish it. If both parties wish it is assured. That does not necessarily carry through… if a demon were to reproduce with a mortal, I’m not sure what would happen. I’m also not sure on the compatibility difference between two peoples. I’m not sure if, say, an eredar and a draenei could reproduce. But, case in point, as long as you’re engaging in sexual intercourse with your people, there should be no danger unless you are both planning on conceiving a child. So no worries there, for what it’s worth. If you are engaging in another species that was formerly a mortal, like a satyr or felblood elf, some precautions would be wise.
Azgadaan says: Good to know. Thank you, Doctor Orianelle.
Orianelle says: Of course!
Azgadaan says: Are you staying here tonight? I can give you a ride to the portal if you need it.
Orianelle says: Oh, yes, I’m staying with the patient. I’ve introduced her to some treatments that will aid in her rest and recovery, and will numb the pain.
Azgadaan says: I hope everything goes smoothly.
Orianelle says: Me as well. And, as far as your investigations in what you have me on, they may be slightly delayed. This does take precedence.
Azgadaan says: Of course. I may need to retrieve my weapon at some point.
Orianelle says: Of course. It’s on the Vitiator. I’m trying to get some colleagues to help me. In time, perhaps you could meet them. Just a few of my friends.
Azgadaan says: Good to know. I’d like to know their names. Namely if you’re working with my soul.
Orianelle says: Oh, yes, of course. I’ll speak with them later and get you a list of names.

Azgadaan thanks her and expresses he hopes she gets some rest.

Azgadaan then goes to meet up with Arthak again. However, as he casts dream the first time, he senses the spell does not succeed. The second time, however, he’s successful, and he heads back to spend the night with Aracyra.

Arthak falls into a rest, and after an hour or two, he senses Lana’thel go to rest. Arthak appears in a sea of darkness, and he sees Lana’thel, in her armor, wielding Frostmourne. She looks up and sees Arthak--in his armor with the Broken Blade banner flying.

There’s a long bead of silence.

Then Lana'thel steps closer, and then closer, and then closer, and then she starts to run at him. The blade is raised. Arthak feels a pressure on his mind from Frostmourne.

Arthak raises Quel’delar to block the blow, and the blades connect. Frostmourne cleaves through the image of Quel’delar, and then his armor. Arthak crumples to the ground, and Lana’thel begins to speak in a language he doesn’t understand. It’s Thalassian.

She points Frostmourne at his chest, and with every word the tip of the blade digs into his chest, and the surrounding area ignites into bright red flames. It’s Gramgun’kur, elves dashing around slaying orcs in the chaos of the burning town.

And then Lana'thel is gone, leaving him in the nightmare.

Arthak staggers to his feet and tries to reach out to his people, but they are ripped away and killed. As he goes, he passes over the bodies of Azgadaan, Samuro, Kaylaan, Remnii, Spinyl, and many more. Then he reaches the body of Broxigar, and Lana'thel brings Frostmourne down on Arthak’s neck.

Arthak wakes up in a cold sweat. The nightmare was very real, and his chest hurts. Everything seems to be okay, Sadras stirring beside him. But he remembers everything from that dream very clearly.

January 2nd

The next morning, Arthak works on getting people mobilized to start fortifying the areas around the Dark Portal. Mother Kaza and the other healers are working to leave to the other side of the Dark Portal, and Orianelle is also getting Zaela set up to leave. On top of the magical stretcher is sitting a light white-pinkish imp, and it is wearing a small necklace that is similar to the stethoscope Orianelle has. It also has gloves and is casting prestidigitation on various areas to clean it.

Once Zaela is loaded up, the imp and Orianelle hastily start to talk in eredun about preparations and the like.

Garrosh looks on, disgruntled.

Garrosh Hellscream says: This better have been the right decision.
Arthak Saurfang says: Trust me.
Garrosh Hellscream says: For some reason, I’m doing that. Arthak, do you have a ship available?
Arthak Saurfang says: I still have two, why?
Garrosh Hellscream says: Because I’m going to need to get out of here. The first battle will happen within the week, and I intend to be there. I’m just giving opportunities for setbacks by staying in one place. If Zaela is safe, I need to move on.

As before, the itch in the back of Arthak’s mind reminds him that Gul’dan said not to let Garrosh leave.

Arthak Saurfang says: Garrosh. We have a fight coming here.
Garrosh Hellscream says: And I have full faith you’ll be able to defend your people, Arthak, but I need to see to my own.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ll need a little bit of time.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Alright, but I don’t have much time. My warg can get there quickly, but I need to leave, and I need to do so by tonight. If I’m not on a vessel, I’ll swim across the damned channel myself.
Arthak Saurfang says: Alright. Alright. Tonight then. We’ll get it done tonight.

Azgadaan goes to see Levia and checks in to see if she made progress on the divination spell, and Nyxxa confirms she can likely do it.

Azgadaan then also sends Gul’dan to ask if he has any ways to slow down attackers from the ocean.

Gul'dan says: I appreciate your concern, Prince Azgadaan. I’m taking the steps required to ensure we’re prepared.

Azgadaan then asks Shaspira if she knows anything about intelligent undead, or magic to slow down some ships. She has some ideas for the latter, though she herself was not planning on being at the docks--if the orcs fail, she’ll intervene.

She also expresses there are many types of undead, but necromancy is not her specialty. Unfortunately, the contacts she has would require more information than they really have available.

Nyxxa and Jorin arrive back that day, and Arthak mentions to Nyxxa that Shaspira wished to speak with her whenever was convenient. However, before they could have any meeting on anything sensitive, Nyxxa notes that Arthak is being scryed on.

They opt to delay any talks, and Nyxxa instead goes to speak with Shaspira.

Her entire office is alight with magic with various glyphs in complex eredun. She is doing something. However, upon Nyxxa’s entry, Shaspira’s eyes open and the magic vanishes from the room.

Shaspira says: Ah, Nyxxa, you got back quicker than I thought.
Nyxxa says: It’s rude to keep a lady waiting.
Shaspira says: I haven’t known satyrs for their punctuality or kindness.
Nyxxa says: That’s because they’re mostly men.

Shaspira laughs.

Shaspira says: Perhaps you and I got off on the wrong hoof. I understand that Velhari is not keen on your presence.
Nyxxa says: I’m aware of that. And I’ve been trying to remain out of her hair.
Shaspira says: Of which I’m appreciative. It gives her less opportunities to voice her displeasure, but you need not fear, she far away at present, and she is not the only one I wager. I have… had individuals whose word I trust search this place up and down of the presence of another individual that had been flitting around Quel’thalas, but the last that anyone saw of her was with you. I’m speaking, of course, of Caria.
Nyxxa says: Of course. She made the decision to accompany us into Kilnar’s manor, but made the misfortune of meeting her end in it.
Shaspira says: Did she? And how did she meet her end? Speak freely. You will not be judged, and you are quite safe. This place was quite safe before I got here, and it is doubly so now.
Nyxxa says: Well. You know the prismatic barrier, correct? An unfortunate mishap with that inside the manor.
Shaspira says: How foolish of her. I would have expected a demon hunter to be able to hunt more things than demons. I see you are in one piece, and with her weapons, no less. Do you know what those are, Nyxxa?
Nyxxa says: Aldrachi warglaives.
Shaspira says: I’m not surprised you’re familiar with their name. But do you realize the significance of those weapons?
Nyxxa says: Caria claimed they were once wielded by a king who opposed the Burning Legion.
Shaspira says: Correct. She made such claims to me as well. I recognize them, there are a number of them scattered across our people. I have long desired to acquire a set, but, those ones are in fact those ones. Do you know why those are significant further than that, Nyxxa?
Nyxxa says: I don’t know the specifics.

Shaspira smiles, and with a wave of her hand, the room changes as her hand washes across it. The exit is still present, but they are now standing in an expansive battlefield, and Nyxxa can see a battle occurring around them. A soldier runs straight through her, and the blazing fire that courses through everything meets her skin with no more than a soft warmth. The sky seems to be burning, and the horizon is dotted with active volcanoes. There are exactly 27 strange humanoid creatures that appear to be between 9-11 feet tall, though one is taller than the rest. Their armor is a burning brass, and these humanoids have digitigrade legs armored with the same brass. They have no tails, but their bodies are long and almost raptor-like, and their faces have split cheeks and underjaws with rows of sharp teeth. Each of them have the warblades.

An eredar general strides forward and issues a decree of surrender, which they answer in a foreign tongue. The larger of the humanoids stomps his foot, and all the warblades ignite as the group charges forward. The eredar is cut down immediately.

Shaspira says: The aldrachi were a war-like culture, but they were especially effective. Their strength and willpower was significant, and it’s said it drew the attention of the Dark Titan himself.

She waves a hand, and all but the king are now down. But the piles and mounds of demons show how successful they were.

There is a shadow cast over the king.

Shaspira says: They say the blades you wield are some of the only weapons that have wounded the Dark Titan, and those blades drink part of the essence of anything they carve. Thus, the blades you carry contain a part of the Dark Titan Sargeras’s essence. As miniscule as it may be, that's significant.

Nyxxa is silent for a moment.

Nyxxa says: That is… significant.
Shaspira says: I’m surprised Kil’jaeden bestowed these on someone so clumsy. She bested Belo’vir Salonar, yet she let her hubris undermine her. A pity. I’m sure Lord Kil’jaeden would not be pleased. I imagine the one that tells him will have some unique opportunities.
Nyxxa says: Are you planning on sharing that with him?
Shaspira says: Not if you are, Nyxxa. This is your discovery, your victory. I would not deprive you of that if you wish to reap further benefits than those relics of yours. ‘Tis an option, no doubt. Of course, it also goes without saying there are further options. Those are yours by right, of course, but as I said, I have sought a pair of Aldrachi warblades for a long time, and those are not just your regular ones. Should you wish to relinquish them, I’d happily make it worth your while, but that is your decision.
Nyxxa says: Given what’s coming at the moment, I thought it best to hang on to these.
Shaspira says: Quite understandable. Were it anything else, I’d be concerned you’d damage them with further use, but that’s not as much of a concern with these.
Nyxxa says: But, I will think on your offer.
Shaspira says: Of course, an offer without expiration. It’s a boon that the combat style of the aldrachi people is so compatible with that of your former order. Caria told me some things. I’ve been informed you have some degree of memory loss from your multitude of reformations within the Twisting Nether, but if there is anything you could provide me about where that rag-tag former band of yours is, I can ensure they will not trouble you again. The last thing this world needs is people running around pretending to be Illidan Stormrage.
Nyxxa says: I vaguely remember that name.
Shaspira says: I’m not surprised. I wager a group called the Illidari would have some baseline knowledge.
Nyxxa says: Most would, but I, well…
Shaspira says: There are ways your memory could be restored. It would not be easy, but if you ever desire it, there are things that could be done. The Twisting Nether is a place full of interesting secrets, and though you were not born a part of the Twisting Nether, neither was I. It gives people like you and I a unique perspective on this realm where logic follows different rules.
Nyxxa says: As I’ve come to understand. But ultimately there wasn’t much more Caria knew that I didn’t.
Shaspira says: I estimated as much. But if they ever reach out to you, Nyxxa, let me know.
Nyxxa says: I believe most would kill me on sight, so.
Shaspira says: Precisely. We can’t have that, can we?
Nyxxa says: Of course not. Is there anything else you need?
Shaspira says: Not at present. I appreciate you coming. It was good to have this conversation, and good to see these most unique among unique weapons.
Nyxxa says: Would you like to hold them?

Shaspira smiles.

Shaspira says: It would be an honor to do so, if you don’t mind.

Shaspira comes over and takes one of the weapons, somewhat in awe as she examines them more closely. She swings the weapon around with a degree of finesse.

Nyxxa says: Are you trained in that style?
Shaspira says: Not with weapons like these, but I had many years to study many things. Practical defense is of course one of them. Not my typical weapon of choice. A bit unwieldy without further training. But I can see the draw. I would not blame you for holding onto these, Nyxxa.

She hands them back.

Shaspira says: But remember my offer all the same.
Nyxxa says: Thank you, my lady. I will. But, for the meantime, it’s best to use these to prevent a mutual associate from getting killed.
Shaspira says: Most agreed.

They bid their farewells and part ways.

The next time the group joins again, when Nyxxa checks for scrying sensors, it does not appear that he is being scryed on.

Arthak Saurfang says: Jorin, have you spoken to Garrosh?
Jorin Deadeye says: I have avoided it thusfar. But he’s… antsy. I’ve been keeping an eye on him.
Arthak Saurfang says: There are some things you should know, and things I can’t have him know. They made their offer, and I said yes.
Jorin Deadeye says: Wonderful. And so what does that mean?
Arthak Saurfang says: That means he is my first task.

Jorin sighs, his disguise looking even older.

Arthak Saurfang says: Gul’dan has placed a magic upon me.
Jorin Deadeye says: I’m guessing something to compel you to act.
Arthak Saurfang says: To punish me if I don’t.
Jorin Deadeye says: Great. So what is your plan? Why are you telling me?
Arthak Saurfang says: I… need your help, and Lady Aracyra’s, but there are some things she doesn’t need to know. The full extent, of course. I need to believe that I tried and I succeeded.

Jorin laughs.

Jorin Deadeye says: That… that is not going to be easy, Arthak. And it would take some time.
Arthak Saurfang says: Lady Aracyra’s an expert in magics of the mind. That’s why I need her help. If there’s a way to make me think I did…
Jorin Deadeye says: Yes, there are magics that can accomplish this, but there’s also the matter of Garrosh himself.
Arthak Saurfang says: That is also something I may need Lady Aracyra’s help with. She got you here from Deatholme.
Jorin Deadeye says: You want her to get him away.
Arthak Saurfang says: Anything else will be known and traced.
Jorin Deadeye says: The only other option I can see is if we can make a convincing replica, but I don’t know if that’s possible without extensive magics. Magics beyond my ability.
Arthak Saurfang says: There is also the option of I kill him. And find a way to bring him back.
Jorin Deadeye says: There is no guarantee that would work.
Arthak Saurfang says: Thus why other options come first.
Nyxxa says: You could send me to do it. I am your shadow, after all.
Arthak Saurfang says: With all due respect, Nyxxa. I would not… Garrosh would not be easily done.
Jorin Deadeye says: There also becomes the difficulty of preventing inquisitive parties from discovering the truth.
Arthak Saurfang says: Another reason I’m talking to you.
Jorin Deadeye says: I’m hoping I have an answer.
Arthak Saurfang says: I know you’ve done similar before.
Jorin Deadeye says: I have. But Arthak… this is a great deal, what you’re asking me to do. I don’t know how much I can help. Not without drawing suspicion to myself and my clan. Already am I mag’har. Enough eyes are on us as is.
Arthak Saurfang says: There’s one more option.
Jorin Deadeye says: And what would that be?
Arthak Saurfang says: I go instead.
Jorin Deadeye says: You go… you leave?
Arthak Saurfang says: Instead of Garrosh. Another casualty of your shadow war. As it stands, one of us has to be dead fairly soon.
Jorin Deadeye says: You certainly aren’t making this easy, are you Saurfang?
Arthak Saurfang says: When has it been easy for any of us?
Jorin Deadeye says: Arthak. The less people that know about this, the better. And I already know too much. I will help you. I must help you at this point, or one of you is going to die. But once this is over, I cannot know of your involvement with the Council. I will take steps to ensure that is not the case.
Arthak Saurfang says: Just as I need you to take steps to ensure I don’t remember this conversation.
Jorin Deadeye says: Neither of us will.
Arthak Saurfang says: Nyxxa. It’s probably best you didn’t either.

Nyxxa shrugs.

Nyxxa says: If that’s what you think is best.
Jorin Deadeye says: Thankfully for you, your forgetfulness is a boon. Your memory is already spotty. But we can see what needs to be done. I don’t know about trusting Aracyra.
Arthak Saurfang says: If you can do this without her, I didn’t know you had this magic.
Jorin Deadeye says: I can modify memories, but I would lack the ability to whisk him away. At best, I could disguise him, and he could flee of his own volition.
Nyxxa says: I think that might be your best bet, if the less people that know, the better.
Jorin Deadeye says: The disguise would last briefly. While I can give him protection against prying eyes, it would leave myself vulnerable for a time. This is a risk I’m willing to take now that my future is uncertain. I find such precautions to be frivolous. For now, at least.
Arthak Saurfang says: Then, if we have no need of Aracyra’s magics of the mind, then Azgadaan can maybe get Garrosh out. Afterwards, we need him to agree to the same conditions. No one remembers what we’ve done.
Nyxxa says: I could also assist with sneaking him out.
Arthak Saurfang says: It needs to happen tonight. Garrosh has pushed the timeline.
Jorin Deadeye says: He tends to do that. Another idea. If he wants to leave this land… if the vessel doesn’t make it, it would be understandable that there were no remains to be found.

Arthak sighs.

Jorin Deadeye says: It would require the sacrifice of a ship.
Arthak Saurfang says: Sabotage my own ship. And if I believed it to be true…
Jorin Deadeye says: If you set up the sabotage, we could ensure his safety, and that would prevent us from having to rely on the demon. No offense, but I’m not one to trust her.
Arthak Saurfang says: Her specialty in her magics were why I was going to involve her. If we have no need of it, then that’s fine. I can tell her other uses I have of her. The ship and our memories modified. That can be done.
Jorin Deadeye says: I can see to it that none of your crew members are harmed, and deceive Garrosh into believing that nothing has gone wrong. It will require the use of some of the graveyards nearby, but I should be able to acquire the necessary… give me a few hours and I can create a crew, albeit a temporary one.
Arthak Saurfang says: Very well. I’ll make the proper adjustments to one of my ships. Is he going to know?
Jorin Deadeye says: That’s the rub. I’m uncertain as to what would be wiser in this instance.
Nyxxa says: Does he know you’re after his life?
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ve hinted.
Jorin Deadeye says: I believe right now it would be wise for him to believe you turned against him. It will protect you as you do your work, and while it may put you at odds with him, in the long run we can make this work.
Arthak Saurfang says: I can live with that.
Jorin Deadeye says: I only hope neither of you actually take each others heads after this. But we have work to do.
Arthak Saurfang says: Garrosh is wise enough. If he knows I think him dead, he’ll take a while to resurface. To the surprise of all. Thank you, Jorin, I’m sorry.
Jorin Deadeye says: It’s alright.

Jorin reaches out and puts a hand on Arthak’s shoulder with a sad smile. He then closes his eye, and when he opens it, it’s pitch black as he overwrites Arthak’s memories of the plan into one that suits the need of deceiving the Shadow Council.

A few hours later, the “crew” shows up, disguised as the actual crew, and they go to man their positions.

Arthak goes to get Garrosh and, curiously, Garrosh is wearing Jorin’s necklace, though in the modified memory state, Arthak has no idea why. In fact, he recalls Garrosh had returned with it.

The group as a whole gather together around Levia, who had gathered the needed things to try the divination spell.

Levia Blackflight says: What exactly am I asking here? I think it can reach out to about 7 days. I can ask something about something specific, and I should get something back. Hopefully.
Azgadaan says: We could probably ask if the island or portal will be attacked in the next week or so.
Levia Blackflight says: I guess I’ll see what I can figure out.

She begins to lay out the ritual, and she uncovers a small piece of cloth. There’s a live rabbit in it, and she winces as she opens the cage.

Levia Blackflight says: Sorry little guy…

She takes a ceremonial dagger and ends the creature’s life to divine using its entrails. Her eyes are completely black at the end of the ritual.

Levia Blackflight says: The attack on the isle of Quel’danas at the hands of the high elves… When will it occur?

The magic lights the circle of salt around it, and the entrails arrange themselves in a star-like shape in front of the sacrifice. The blood extinguishes the fire one-by-one as it goes over several stones, before stopping at the 5th stone.

Levia’s muscles relax as the magic comes to a conclusion.

Levia Blackflight says: Well. I guess that worked.
Azgadaan says: Five days… should be enough.
Levia Blackflight says: Five. Maybe the fifth? It could be as early as this Suderday.
Arthak Saurfang says: Then that is something.
Levia Blackflight says: But that seems like a safe bet. Either this Suderday, or the 7th, which would be 5 days.
Arthak Saurfang says: Then we prepare for the one that comes first, and hope for the one that comes after.
Nyxxa says: It’s better to know when they’re coming as opposed to when they’re not.
Azgadaan says: Indeed. Nyxxa, are you planning anything for these next few days?
Nyxxa says: Um. Nothing. I was keeping my options open. By the by… get some sleep tonight. Azgadaan, I know that spell you got access to… I recommend you not use it if you were planning to. And you too, Arthak. It’s important to get some sleep tonight, especially with the days coming up.
Azgadaan says: Levia. What happens now with the poor unfortunate thing?
Nyxxa says: Can we eat it?
Azgadaan says: That’s what I was going to suggest. Waste not, want not.
Levia Blackflight says: Uh… yeah. I guess. I was going to… bury it? Maybe feed it to the animals? I didn’t plan that out. I guess dinner is on me. Well. Technically on you.
Arthak Saurfang says: Group effort.
Azgadaan says: You can help cook.
Levia Blackflight says: That’s a terrible idea.
Nyxxa says: Though given the short timetable, my revenge on Gramgun will need to wait.

Arthak looks at them curiously.

Azgadaan says: If we have time, I can prepare a spell to spook him.
Arthak Saurfang says: What are you doing to Gramgun?
Azgadaan says: Nothing horrible.
Nyxxa says: He played a prank on me, and I’m going to return it in kind. But we need to be on our A game.
Azgadaan says: But Arthak, no warnings for the poor guy.
Nyxxa says: Wait. No. Maybe you just tell him that and it never comes. That’s genius.
Arthak Saurfang says: You want me… to participate in this frivolity?
Azgadaan says: Yes.
Nyxxa says: It’ll give us all a reason to survive.
Azgadaan says: To fuck with Gramgun.
Nyxxa says: This is why I live.
Arthak Saurfang says: The motivations of demons are strange…

They part their ways, and Arthak goes to meet with Garrosh.

Garrosh Hellscream says: Are you finished yet?
Arthak Saurfang says: It took some time. I have a ship ready for you. You can trust the crew. They’ll get you where you need to go.

Garrosh nods and follows with a cloak over his head.

They approach the last of Arthak’s longships, and they see the crew aboard, silent at their stations.

Arthak Saurfang says: There’s not much time. I don’t know who might be watching.

Garrosh clasps Arthak’s arm.

Garrosh Hellscream says: When we meet next, it’ll be time, that’s for sure.
Arthak Saurfang says: That it will. Until we meet again.

Garrosh nods and turns to board. The crew gives Arthak a salute, and shortly after, the ship leaves. Arthak goes to find some place out of the way to just sit and breathe for a bit, watching the ship. Maybe an hour later, as it’s a decent way out, there’s a flash of light that lights up the sky in the distance right where the ship is.

As if on cue, Nyxxa finds Arthak to ask what happened. Arthak expresses he doesn’t know, but he has Gramgun send small boats out to see what happened, and see if there are any bodies to recover.

After his due diligence, Arthak finds somewhere private to report to Gul’dan.

Arthak Saurfang says: Elder. Garrosh Hellscream is gone. Lost at sea.
Gul'dan says: Very good, Arthak. You’ve done me proud. You’ve done the Horde proud.

Then Arthak sits down.

Arthak Saurfang says: … Find peace with the ancestors, Rosh. Find a kinder world than what you were given.

Eventually, Arthak heads back to his home. Sadras asks what happened, and Arthak makes it clear something was wrong, but he doesn’t give her the full details.

Arthak Saurfang says: It appears someone took our ship.
Sadras says: Do you know who?
Arthak Saurfang says: Someone who has finally found some peace.
Sadras says: Arthak, what happened?
Arthak Saurfang says: There are some things I can’t say. Not yet.
Sadras says: Alright. But I expect to know what’s going on as soon as I can.

Arthak tries to get to sleep that night, and eventually the exhaustion of it all wears on him, and he is able to find some degree of rest.

Meanwhile, with Azgadaan, he is slumbering next to Aracyra, and in his dreams, he finds himself in a soft room with stained glass windows. And also there is Remnii.

Remnii says: Azgadaan!
Azgadaan says: Remnii? It’s good to see that you’re in one piece. Little bit bigger than I remember you being.
Remnii says: … I will let you know that not every person wants to hear that, but thank you.

They share a laugh.

Azgadaan says: You look healthier.
Remnii says: There you go. This is the most I can do for the moment, and likely for some time, but I’m here to check in.

Tentatively, she opens her arms for a hug, but Azgadaan has hesitant, steepled fingers.

Azgadaan says: I can’t accept your kindness. Considering the things I’ve done to you.
Remnii says: If I don’t know what you did, there’s no apology to give. So lets talk, Azgadaan. There’s time.
Azgadaan says: Sure.

Azgadaan takes a seat next to Remnii.

Azgadaan says: You have a nice scape. Better than mine. Mine is shifting.
Remnii says: To took me some time to figure out what I wanted. I can change it, but this seems to be neutral and comfortable.
Azgadaan says: I doomed Yrel, then I killed him… Killed him right after you left.

Azgadaan isn’t making eye contact.

Azgadaan says: I killed Ahonan.

There is sadness on Remnii’s face as she sits back.

Remnii says: I spoke with Samaara while she was still on Draenor. I heard what happened, at least in short. It’s… hard to think about, nonetheless talk about, but I have to honor what Yrel’s choice was going to be.
Azgadaan says: I’m going to try and get her back.
Remnii says: I don’t know how, but I will also be searching for ways however I can. But Azgadaan, she did not listen to me. I asked her to lay low, and she did not. But had she laid low, the White Tyrant would have come for her. She is not… what we can do is honor the sacrifice she made in the meanwhile. I know where she is, but she is far out of my reach.
Azgadaan says: I know she was taken by--
Remnii says: Talgath. She is one a place called Miskara in the Twisting Nether.
Azgadaan says: It will be difficult getting her out…
Remnii says: I know. I know. This is why I am trying to do what I can with the gift that she gave me. Had you said too much, she would have been jeopardized. If we stopped for even a moment, one more of us would have been dead. It was Ahonan’s plan, wasn’t it?
Azgadaan says: I guess it was.
Remnii says: He was a protector of our people. He knew what he was doing. Another thing we can focus on is what he stood for and why he did what he did. He protected more than one young life. He gave Dornaa and the others a chance to live.
Azgadaan says: He did. They were gone.
Remnii says: They made it safely.
Azgadaan says: Good. Shaspira sent me to look for Dornaa.
Remnii says: It’s because she is not krokul. Whatever is between my vakas and the White Tyrant, it is very personal. One involved in my own mother’s murder. The less you know, the better. I should not be here.
Azgadaan says: There was a demon searching for you, by the way.

Remnii stops and nods.

Remnii says: I… I know. He found me.
Azgadaan says: He found me too.
Remnii says: I’m assuming because you are here, you are okay now?
Azgadaan says: Yes.
Remnii says: I’m sorry my presence there has caused you difficulty. Let us call our apologies even. There is much to grieve, and as long as you intend to walk the path we last discussed, do not apologize for what will make that possible.
Azgadaan says: I don’t plan on abandoning it. Ahonan’s told me to find the Light. He gave me a locket that had a picture of someone important.

Remnii inclines her head.

Azgadaan says: The locket said Ishanah.

Remnii’s eyes widen.

Remnii says: That would make sense. I am quite close with her. She is his adopted daughter. She was one of my teachers.
Azgadaan says: Well, hopefully I can deliver it one day. I’m assuming he’d rather have this in her hands.
Remnii says: I know she would appreciate it. I intend to share with her the things that have happened. Ishanah is quite powerful.
Azgadaan says: When I meet her, hopefully she won’t smite me.
Remnii says: Hopefully I can warm her first. Speaking of things you have, is it still safe?
Azgadaan says: It is at my side wrapped up in bandages.
Remnii says: Good. I still trust my judgement and that of Samaara if she left it with you. Which she says she’s proud of you. She wanted me to tell you.

Azgadaan smiles.

Azgadaan says: Well, she’s definitely a blessing. And I hope she gets to you.
Remnii says: She is on her way. I will leave everything vague for the best of reasons.
Azgadaan says: I’m working with Aracyra right now. Trying to… well. She’s been nice, and I’ve been trying to persuade her that what she knows isn’t the only thing. I’m currently getting her to have more freedom in her life so she can see a better goal.

Remnii takes on a considerate look.

Remnii says: I would be careful. She is… I believe she will be hard to win from the little time I spent with her, but trust your judgement on the matter, and go with caution. Go slowly. You have time.
Azgadaan says: That I do have.
Remnii says: Jumping into anything too quickly with someone who has been under the thumb of someone so powerful will not be easy to win over. But if you feel this is a worthy endeavor, you don’t need my blessing, but… trying to work as a team. Together and separately. Though. Keep this.

She has Spiritsong appear.

Remnii says: Out of her eyes.
Azgadaan says: I plan to. A battle is coming, and I intend to keep everyone alive.

They spend some more time getting caught up and Remnii shows Azgadaan what races like goblins and dwarves look like. However, she said she needs to be somewhere else, and she promises to check in from time to time. He also asks about Raluhi.

Remnii says: Pay close attention, Azgadaan. The coming months will show you, through elven eyes… though you are on the wrong side in all this. What the elvish people are going through now is what the draenic people went through 40 years ago, and again, and again.
Azgadaan says: The only thing I can offer is I haven’t taken any native lives.
Remnii says: That is good, and it helps, but what I’m saying is there’s a reason to be jumpy and afraid, and you will have to fight uphill to get people to trust you and not be afraid of you. Understanding the horrors of war. Knowing what must be done and avoided, and how you can sometimes not win. It’s something that all must come to grips with over time. So look upon them, and find how you can be better than the destiny you were born into. Take heart. We are not far.
Azgadaan says: By the end of this, I hope to see you in person again. Not on enemy lines.
Remnii says: I hope so too, and it will be an uphill battle too to see that day coming, but I will not stop or I will die trying. We move in slow steps, be it by one person, or by introducing everyone to the draenei. I don’t know if this has helped you feel better. I cannot stop things from weighing on your heart, but in a way, it’s good it does. It keeps your heart alive and feeling. We can take lessons from what happened, and live in better ways.
Azgadaan says: I’ll try my best.

Remnii nods.

Remnii says: And of anyone, you will be one of the most challenged.
Azgadaan says: Well if things don’t work out with demons on this planet, I can always mask my identity.
Remnii says: Yet I know that hiding oneself can be heartbreaking. So, do not count yourself out yet, but I should be going. There’s a lot to do tomorrow, at least on my end.
Azgadaan says: I hope you have success.
Remnii says: This will be something. Battles of our own starting tomorrow. But I will be in touch.
Azgadaan says: If I need to talk to you, I can just dream you myself.
Remnii says: Good. I look forward to it then. I know Samaara will be excited to hear from you, but don’t bombard her too much. This rule also goes for myself.

Remnii winks.

Azgadaan says: When you see her, give her a big hug for me.
Remnii says: Only if I could have one before I go.
Azgadaan says: Fine. You deserve it.
Remnii says: Oh. You will hug her but not me?

She grins, but they go in for a hug.

Azgadaan says: Well. She is my favorite draenei.

Remnii sighs.

Remnii says: You wound me.

She puts a fake dramatic hand over her forehead.

Azgadaan says: You’re a close second, Remnii.
Remnii says: You know, Azgadaan. You have said two things that friends, and women, don’t like to hear that much.
Azgadaan says: I’ll work on it.
Remnii says: And be true to yourself.
Azgadaan says: I will be. And take care with Arthak. He looked somewhat haunted today.
Remnii says: I will.

The dream then ends.

Right as Arthak drifts to sleep, he wakes up to another dreamscape, though this one looks like a very healthy Nagrand. The stars gently shine overhead.

And Remnii is sitting next to a small fire crackling.

Remnii says: Hello Arthak.
Arthak Saurfang says: ...Remnii.

Remnii smiles softly.

Arthak Saurfang says: So this is what Nyxxa spoke of.

Remnii nods.

Remnii says: Reaching everyone in one night was taxing.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see. You look well.
Remnii says: Thank you. I know not of what your circumstance weighs on your heart, but I know one, at least. I will not trouble you this evening if you would not wish me to.
Arthak Saurfang says: No. We have… things we need to discuss.

Remnii gives a knowing smile.

Remnii says: Would you want to walk, or would you want to sit?
Arthak Saurfang says: It doesn’t matter. I assume you wish to know about Rakeesh?
Remnii says: No. I was coming to check on you. Rakeesh found me some time ago.

Fear flashes over her face.

Remnii says: I’m of course frightened, but I said everything I needed to in that note. Unless you had something more to share.
Arthak Saurfang says: No. I appreciate the trust.
Remnii says: I likely will be meeting him sometime after my current engagements are done. He found Spinyl too.
Arthak Saurfang says: Haunting our steps.
Remnii says: Thus if I can… draw his attention as he came looking for me in the first place. I know not what he wants with me, but he was intent on finding me.
Arthak Saurfang says: He was. Though I believe his interest has been peaked in Azgadaan.
Remnii says: Yet somehow a promising young eredar of any sort… Azgadaan will make a name for himself, one way or another. Though, you know, he opened with me to say that I gained weight!

Remnii laughs.

Arthak Saurfang says: You look healthy.
Remnii says: I feel better.
Arthak Saurfang says: Good. What do you know of what’s been going on in here? Or, well, here.

Remnii goes over everything she knows with him.

Arthak Saurfang says: Samaara escaped? Good. I assumed she had, but I didn’t know if the ships made it.
Remnii says: She is safe. Thank you for looking out for them. Even if it’s just by existing.
Arthak Saurfang says: And lending them a ship.
Remnii says: Samaara wanted me to tell you she said sorry.
Arthak Saurfang says: I assumed it was what she was going to do.
Remnii says: That is that update. I… for sake of most things, I cannot speak much of what is going on down here.
Arthak Saurfang says: It would be best not.

Remnii nods.

Remnii says: Communication will be essential, but not communicating will be as important for a time.
Arthak Saurfang says: Something you should be prepared for. Should know. The Mist.
Remnii says: Was deployed.
Arthak Saurfang says: … my plan.

Remnii is quiet for a moment, and then she nods.

Remnii says: The one…

She then stops, thinking carefully about words.

Remnii says: I… I had heard about the deployment beforehand. Not that it was you. I… I cannot say that I am happy to hear that.

A lot of things are happening on her face.

Remnii says: But… to see the same tactics used again. To know that Gul’dan most certainly was… the one to execute this plan. Or the one to present the Mist in the first place. Or a necrolyte of some sort.
Arthak Saurfang says: Gul’dan’s Mist, and Gul’dan execution, but my plan.
Remnii says: He’s looking to you now.
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s a comfort… the fact you knew about it is because… Nyxxa and Samaara learned it from someone.
Remnii says: And I learned it from someone connected to them. The grapevine is keeping me informed. Thus, the Mist would have been deployed either way, Arthak. I will not say I’m happy, but… where we are now. All that must be done. All that we will lose, and all that we have to lose.

Remnii falls silent again.

Arthak Saurfang says: I assume you know about the sword.
Remnii says: I do. That is the one thing I wanted to speak with you about. Yes. I warned of what I could, though I know my warnings were for naught.
Arthak Saurfang says: Lana’thel Dawnseeker. I killed her husband. Took his sword.
Remnii says: Ah…
Arthak Saurfang says: You should know, and those you have warned should know. She is drinking deep of its power. More than I did.
Remnii says: Given the state of the world, the elves are hurting deeply. I cannot say that if this had been years ago a draenei wouldn’t have done the same, even knowing what we know.
Arthak Saurfang says: She slaughtered a nathrezim. By herself.
Remnii says: I will… I will keep this in mind, and I will… I fear… I fear the reports I’ve heard from Nyxxa about the assumed dead walking amongst them. And what that has to do with anyone else.
Arthak Saurfang says: From what I know of the situation, when she took the blade, it took her king, and I believe she brought him back.
Remnii says: I see.
Arthak Saurfang says: That sword would not have brought him back as he was. They should know.
Remnii says: I have told them as much, but I will confirm when I can. We are heading into battles of our own. Evil wizards. In towers. I should have you know as well, Gul’dan had some orcish agents outside the barrier. Most have been dispatched. And… has he given anyone else a nickname? Or moniker?
Arthak Saurfang says: He has dubbed me the Herald of the Red Tide.
Remnii says: I hope that does not spread far.
Arthak Saurfang says: I suspect it will. It will soon. Any of the ones coming here, any that leave. They will have stories, and they will know things.
Remnii says: Many pieces are in motion, even beyond what we can see. But, if you hear of the Glass Priestess, he’s holding onto that one. Hard. That got back to humans.
Arthak Saurfang says: Glass…

He shakes his head, and Remnii smiles.

Remnii says: I… what happened to your eye, Arthak, if you don’t mind me asking.
Arthak Saurfang says: Ah, yes… I cut it out.
Remnii says: Of course you did. What happened?
Arthak Saurfang says: I needed to make an impression on the warchief.
Remnii says: Well… you know how to do it. Make sure there are pieces of you to keep for yourself once all this is done.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ll try.
Remnii says: That is the most I can ask of you. We will need you. Sadras will need you.
Arthak Saurfang says: ...Nyxxa?
Remnii says: Nyxxa and Samaara, actually. Congratulations.
Arthak Saurfang says: Thank you.
Remnii says: On top of that… I know I’ll need you too. Someday, it would be great to not be dreaming and scheming. Perhaps a vacation.
Arthak Saurfang says: If you intend to be my advocate, Remnii, that’s only going to get harder.

Remnii raises an eyebrow.

Remnii says: Do you think, by any means, I have forgotten how this is going to work. To be an advocate for the orcish people means to set myself at odds with my own people, let alone the people of this world.
Arthak Saurfang says: My advocate.
Remnii says: That I will not waver on. But in all these things, we have not made room for the future. I believe, as the first time I told you, that while I will die trying to bring my vakas’s visions to reality. To ensure that everyone has a place in this fight. But there needs to be a future for us as well. For everyone that’s fighting. And for those that come after, and those who have been harmed by where the Legion has tread.
Arthak Saurfang says: Not everyone will come out of this with a future.
Remnii says: Yet if you resign yourself to that immediately, there will be casualties.
Arthak Saurfang says: There will be anyway. But you have to keep in mind, not everyone will be accepted as an ally, come the day.
Remnii says: ...no. Nor do I expect them to be, Arthak. There are… I was not born with the gift of prophecies, for one. But two, in my capacity to do, in my limited capacity as one individual. Will I succeed? I’m not sure. Yet I told you I would die trying. And in this conversation, however dark things may get, I refuse to… consign any one individual to a fate that could be worse than death on a number of parts. That is easier said than done, I understand. The path you walk is not an easy one. But in it, you cannot walk alone. Of this I will make sure. Even if it’s just me.

Arthak sighs heavily.

Arthak Saurfang says: I murdered Garrosh. Tonight. I put him on a boat, telling him it would take him to safety, and that boat did not reach the other side. I did that for the plan. And I have to hope that it will mean something someday. So what I need from you is a promise. The plan can survive without me. I know my value. But there may come a day, where for peace talks or anything to happen, the plan is what matters. The future. My hands are not going to get any cleaner. So if I need to go, let me go. Maybe not anytime soon, but when it matters. Promise me.

There is a long quiet.

Remnii says: I will. I will, Arthak. This… another piece of this comes from the fact that no sacrifice should be made in vain.

She looks at the bare eye socket.

Remnii says: I… what you are working for, things that we are moving towards… whatever must be done, and I told Azgadaan this… I cannot let this go in vain, Arthak. I intend to be your advocate for as long as I can, hoping to never come to this point, as there are many pieces involved in this. But. In all the care I have for you, and that for my people, Yrel, and all that have given much already… I cannot let any individual stand in the way of the Legion’s fall. But if I can help it, anyway, I won’t give up on you so easily either. Is that fair?
Arthak Saurfang says: I can accept that.
Remnii says: Arthak, I am sorry that we even have to have this conversation, but I also do not wish to apologize for what you have chosen to do yourself.
Arthak Saurfang says: As you say. I’ve made my choices.
Remnii says: I’m glad you chose to tell me, and that you let me stay.
Arthak Saurfang says: It is good to see you.

Remnii smiles.

Remnii says: It is good to see you too, Arthak. Very good, in fact.
Arthak Saurfang says: They are treating you well, yes?
Remnii says: They are. I don’t think they know what to do with me, but they are trying their best.
Arthak Saurfang says: You know what to do with them, no doubt.
Remnii says: It’s challenging in its own way. No one here is ready, Arthak.
Arthak Saurfang says: When is anyone?
Remnii says: But even more so. The people I travel with grew up in a time of relative peace, where Legion influence was far away, and to be told by one person everything that’s coming… this is my new battle.
Arthak Saurfang says: They’ll either prove strong enough or they’ll break. And there’s only so much you can do about that.
Remnii says: I know. It is hard to walk through this again with eyes unclouded. But I will not give up on them. We keep moving. We keep trying. But. Would you believe it if I said I missed Draenor somedays?
Arthak Saurfang says: So do I.
Remnii says: But… we are marching to battle today. That wizard has to be dealt with one way or another.
Arthak Saurfang says: Very well. And I have… I have to get ready. Frostmourne is coming.
Remnii says: You know… you did make it harder for me to get in contact with you. But I believe I can fix that.
Arthak Saurfang says: How did I…?
Remnii says: The only way you were able to reach me was given to a crazy powerful demon.
Arthak Saurfang says: Ah…
Remnii says: But again, I believe I have a fix. I do not know when I can check in next, it would be wise to keep a distance, but I will be in touch. I am still separate from my people. I will not be separate from you or this. Not too far gone, anyway.
Arthak Saurfang says: Not too far gone. Alright.
Remnii says: Oh. And I will only keep my promise if I can give you a hug. Because I think you need one, Arthak.

Arthak stares at Remnii blankly, but doesn’t resist as she goes for the hug. She presses her forehead against his before she pulls away.

Remnii says: We will see this through. Please be safe.
Arthak Saurfang says: That I cannot promise.
Remnii says: What I can do is hope. But seeing this through, we will.
Arthak Saurfang says: Kronokai cristor.
Remnii says: Kronokai cristor, Arthak. And lok’tar.
Arthak Saurfang says: Lok’tar.
