Othaar was a draenei who fled with Velen and the others when Archimonde and Kil'jaeden turned to the Burning Legion thousands of years ago. When the Legion caught up to the Draenei on Draenor, Socrethar betrayed his people, leading a faction of like-minded followers in joining the demons. He was known henceforth as Socrethar.

He was slain by Arthak, Kaylaan, and the warband, and his soul was permenantly destroyed, preventing him from ever returning.

Socrethar's blade was melted down by Arthak Saurfang and reforged into the longsword, Traitor's Gift. Though he gave it to Kaylaan, it eventually found its way back to him.
