Court of Dusk

The Court of Dusk was the undead half of the Convocation of Twilight and operated out of the capital of Deatholme. While only the members of the Convocation ultimately could vote on matters such as policy changes, they could be petitioned by powerful magisters, nobility, or other high-ranking officials to attempt to sway them in one direction or the other.

The Undead Houses of the Ghostlands

Some of the most powerful members of the overarching Court of Dusk were the elven nobility that claimed citizenship in the Ghostlands. Those with an undead head of house rapidly realized they could use their notoriety as a means to court living individuals into their sway in order to create consensual undead under their jurisdiction. Policies were enacted to limit the amount of abuse with such an arrangement: notably, that undead created by heads of noble families had the ability to petition to be named members of those families as the process of raising was in itself a form of rebirth and these same undead were also incapable of truly reproducing through conventional means.

Many houses instead chose to take such a declaration as an advantage to engage in long-term political intrigue: courting heirs of rival houses, growing numbers to encompass other lesser noble houses, and other strategies became a not-uncommon tactic to spread influence and it ensured the political scene was even more dramatic than their living kin.
