Atiesh is a powerful staff passed down through the line of the Guardians of Tirisfal up until and including the current Guardian, Medivh.

History

The actual date of the creation of Atiesh is unknown, though it was said to have been forged from a "seed of hate" by ancient Dalaran and gifted to the first Guardian of Tirisfal, which would make the staff thousands of years old. It eventually was passed to the hands of Medivh.

Briefly, Atiesh was wielded by Velameestra Windrunner when it was recovered from the custody of the night elves. However, it was returned to Medivh's possession once the Guardian was freed.

Properties

Imbued with the same fate and destiny that empower the Guardian, the staff has the following properties.

This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. While you hold it, you gain a +3 bonus to Armor Class, saving throws, and spell attack rolls.
While attuned to Attiesh, you gain the following additional properties.
  • You can't be Blinded, Deafened, Paralyzed, or Stunned.
  • You can attune or unattune to this artifact as an Action, but you take 8d10 arcane damage when you attune to it.
  • While you are attuned to the artifact, other creatures can't take short or long rests while within 300 feet of you.
Staff of Destiny. You gain Advantage on initiative rolls. In addition, when you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead, and then immediately take an Action. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
Raven Form. As an Action, you can polymorph into a Tiny raven or back into your true form. While in your raven form, you can speak in your voice (allowing you to cast spells with a verbal component only) or mimic simple sounds you have heard, you have a walking speed of 5 feet, and you have a flying speed of 50 feet. Your other statistics are unchanged. Anything you are wearing transforms with you, but nothing you are carrying does, except Atiesh. You revert to your true form if you die.
Magic Mastery. The staff has 20 charges. Whenever you cast a spell, you may use charges from this staff to modify the spell using any of the Metamagic options from the Sorcerer class. The charges used is equal to the sorcery point cost of the metamagic feature. It regains 2d8 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 20, the staff regains 1d8 + 2 charges.
