Orcs

Orcs are among the most recent addition to the forces of the Burning Legion and many have forgone their once shamanic ways in the pursuit of the demonic power that was offered.

History

Early History

The orcs of Draenor were a largely shamanistic society. While they were ruthless in battle, they had a strict code of honor tied intrinsically to their nomadic lifestyle and they spend the majority of their lives in roaming tribes that spanned across the grasslands and mountains of Draenor for over 5,000 years. When the draenei sought refuge on Draenor they lived in relative peace with them, and primarily focused their martial skills on the ongoing war with the ogres. However, the presence of the draenei ultimately drew the Burning Legion to their home world.

Mag'har

The mag'har orcs consist of those that have been able to evade the corruption of the Burning Legion completely. They are the last surviving denizens that represent what the orcs were before the invasion of the Burning Legion, and about forty years ago all orcs were of the mag'har. After the arrival of the Legion, the mag'har are made up by those few that have avoided their total influence—either by fleeing into outcast or by escaping in other ways. Few outside the Frostwolf Clan have retained their brown skin, save the survivors of the Red Pox—which mysteriously seems to have inoculated orcs to the corruption of the Burning Legion.

Greenskin

Forty years ago, Grom drank from the blood of Mannoroth the Destroyer and became the first of a new generation of orcs. Most orcs have supped from the the blood directly or inherited it through blood, which has given them the green skin of the Legion's taint. This taint increases an orc's strength and resilience, but also their temperament.

Fel Orc

The fel orcs represent the Burning Legion's ultimate control over the orcs as they are created when an orc consumes the blood of a pit lord. They are incredibly aggressive, and operate under a crazed bloodlust that compels them to pursue an insane desire for battle and violence. They are much more powerful that regular orcs, and also far more unpredictable.

Appearance

All fel orcs have deep red skin that stands out like blood splatter midst their other kin. They also have a ridge of long, sharp spins that have sprung from their backs, and bony horns typically grow from their arms and hands. Fel orc eyes are always bloodshot and grow a bright, malevolent red, and their jaws are adorned by incredibly long, pointed fangs that adds to their overall savage appearance. It is widely speculated that the longer a fel orc lives with the corruption that has mutated it, the more savage the mutations become.
