Outland Day 17 (Evening)
It takes about an hour before the feast is complete, and Durak had spent most of it helping Kroll. Nyxxa approached Go’el to give him a gift she had made.
Nyxxa says: Good to see you again! I have something for you.
Go’el snaps back from his thoughts.
Go'el says: Oh. Is that so? You didn’t need to bring anything
Nyxxa says: It’s just something small.
It’s another carved hair-stick, carved with the head of a wolf.
Go'el says: This is very kind of you, Nyxxa. Thank you.
Nyxxa says: Sure! I wanted to give it to you before I forgot.
Go'el says: Did you make this yourself?
Nyxxa nods.
Go'el says: Impressive. Thank you again.
He pulls his hair back to weave the hair stick into it.
Go'el says: I should help with the preparations.
Nyxxa says: If you need a hand, I’m at least not doing anything.
Go'el says: You’ve all traveled here from another world. You’re our guests for the time, so don’t think you need to.
Azgadaan tunes in at that point.
Azgadaan says: I’m still pretty fresh! If you need spells cast or anything, I’d be happy to help. Plus I brought many things!
Go’el laughs with a shake of his head.
Go'el says: I can’t stop you all from helping, but there’s no obligation.
Nyxxa says: You know we can’t sit still.
Go’el nods and points them in a direction to help. Sadras also goes to help, and winds up near some of the younger orcs to get to know them a bit better. Arthak too opts to help, though he stays away from the kids for the most part.
Those of the group that opted to relax for the most part hang out with those orcs who would be more a hindrance than a help in the preparations. It seems that all the orcs in the village are mag’har, other than the ones that had come with Go’el, and Sadras and her family. The small group of draenei present are largely treated as part of the village.
People have started to trickle in to gather for the feast. Arthas briefly spoke with Sadras’s family, and it seems Sadras’s father wants to help, but his mate isn’t permitting him given he is recovering from his own injuries. Azuka was not helping and was instead trying to stay out of the way, however, Veena had started to float over the ata’mal crystal. Sorak approaches and speaks to the plant-like creature quietly.
In the fringe areas of the earth mote, the group can see land that had been cultivated, and there is some produce being grown as well as some livestock.
As the food starts to come out, Lokra and Phaedra take lead to delegate and ensure that food is taken to those unable to retrieve the food on their own. A low hum of conversation starts to fill the area as the village feast starts to unfold. Azgadaan and Nyxxa get some attention, as does Halno, though Kroll is quick to assuage any sort of concern should it come up at all.
Arthak inquires a bit about the logistics of the floating mote, and he is shown gliders that members of the village use to reach the earth mote, or get down from it if they don’t have magical ability. There are normally shamans on watch or amidst the hunting parties to ensure that people can get back up by controlling the winds. There is a stream of water that also goes through the mote, and it doesn’t seem to ever run out.
Azgadaan had used his alchemy jug to make two gallons of mayonnaise, and a lot of the orcs experiment with it. Arthak, however, is not particularly fond of it.
As Nyxxa is running food around, Levia catches her.
Levia Blackflight says: Hey Nyx, can I try something?
Nyxxa says: Sure! What is it?
Levia kneels down and looks at the leg Nyxxa had injured.
Levia Blackflight says: I think I can patch this up.
She rubs her hands together, and her eyes glow as she holds her hands out. The warmth of the magic is more potent, and the ache in her leg ebbs away. Nyxxa puts her weight on it, and it seems the annoyance of it has rescinded.
Nyxxa says: Feels as good as new!
Levia Blackflight says: Good. I’m glad. I felt… I felt like I was able to reach a bit more strength, so I thought I would give it a shot.
Nyxxa says: You’re growing so powerful so fast!
Nyxxa still has food in hand, and she gives Levia a big hug, which Levia sheepishly returns.
Levia Blackflight says: Thanks, um…
Nyxxa says: I’m so proud of you!
Levia Blackflight says: Laying it on a little thick, don’t you think?
She takes one of the plates and starts eating off it.
Levia Blackflight says: I figured out a few other things too. With some of this new stuff, I think I might be able to make a connection to whatever this is.
She gestures to herself.
Levia Blackflight says: Whatever is giving me the abilities I have. I might be able to reach out to it or something, and get some answers.
Nyxxa says: That’s great news!
Levia Blackflight says: I might be able to get some answers about you too, if you wanted.
Nyxxa purses her lips.
Nyxxa says: I mean, if that’s how the reaching out would work… there is the question I had when we got here.
Levia Blackflight says: I can try. I don’t think there will be long, sweeping answers, but maybe a yes or a no.
Nyxxa says: Anything helps!
Levia Blackflight says: If I get a quiet moment later, I’ll see what I can do.
Nyxxa says: Focus on yourself first!
Levia Blackflight says: Alright, I will.
Nyxxa smiles.
Nyxxa says: Let me know if you need anything.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, sure. Here, let me take that plate, it’s gotta be getting heavy.
Levia takes another of the plates.
Nyxxa says: You’ll know where I’ll be if you need me!
Nyxxa goes on her way to continue delivering food, but then Vaerux chimes in.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: You’re not still going on about the curse, are you?
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: Might as well check.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: Urrrrgh. Alright. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: Then you can tell me I told you so like you always do.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: Glad you realize that, because I reserve that right! By the way, good work the other day, handling Caria’s lackeys.
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: You’ve been quiet.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: Yeah, I’ve been busy.
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: I don’t know how that works, but I guess you have company…
Vaerux says [telepathically]: Of a sorts! And I figured out a few things. First off, there’s a lot more where that came from. Seems your old flame’s been a bit busy, she has.
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: I don’t doubt it.
Her smile dies.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: I can tell you one other thing. She’s looking for a way to get off-world. She’s heading back to Azeroth now. Thought you’d like to know.
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: That… that tracks.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: I can’t say that I know too much more. After all, there’s only so much I can squeeze from these little morsels. But please, enjoy the feast! Try not to worry too much about your friends, yeah?
Nyxxa says [telepathically]: I’ll… do my best.
Vaerux says [telepathically]: Great start! Few more and maybe we’ll be even enough to teach you a few tricks. Just keep up the good work, why don’t ya?
Vaerux laughs, and his presence recedes back. Nyxxa moves on, trying not to think about it too much.
As the group is around and chatting, a voice gets Azgadaan’s attention.
Phaedra says: Is this seat taken?
Azgadaan says: Not at all, I’d enjoy your company. Please, sit.
Phaedra sits next to Azgadaan and sits in silence for a moment. Azgadaan gestures to the mayo.
Phaedra says: I’m alright, thanks.
After a moment, she breaks the silence.
Phaedra says: Azgadaan, it comes to my attention that I owe you an apology as well. I was needlessly aggressive when I first saw you earlier.
Azgadaan says: Thank you for the apology, and I was also out of line not thinking about how you would react. While I was helping cook, I was thinking about why I said that, and… well, did Remnii or Samaara or Yrel tell you about my interest in the draenei people?
Phaedra thinks for a moment.
Phaedra says: I know it pertains to your mother.
Azgadaan says: Yes.
Phaedra says: I understand that she was allegedly involved in the exodus where many of our people escaped this world, and without her intervention, many more would be dead.
Azgadaan says: To my knowledge, yes. I’m trying to understand you all. And… trying to make connections.
Azgadaan sighs.
Azgadaan says: My mother did all that to save, well, one, to help you all, and two, to help maybe a surviving member of her family? Meaning I… have someone connected to me out there. Maybe they’re gone, but it’s a connection I’m trying to make. And it’s going to be difficult.
Phaedra says: Yes, it is. That’s interesting. I didn’t know that, but it’s hardly surprising. You would not be the first one in this conflict to have a relative on the other side. I don’t think you would be the last either.
Azgadaan says: Probably not.
Phaedra says: You said you had time to think, so did you put some thought into why what you said was hurtful?
Azgadaan says: I did.
Phaedra says: And?
Azgadaan says: You don’t want to be called or connected to the people that have been hunting you for so long. Or at least that’s the general idea.
Phaedra chuffs.
Phaedra says: I suppose that is a good first step. But it goes deeper than that, Azgadaan. I can respect you want to understand the draenei, I can only imagine the conflict you have gone through in your life, different as it is from my own or every other draenei or eredar, but on that day, so many years ago, when Master Velen turned away, that was a moment more than just a family dispute. On that day, our people stopped being eredar, and your people claimed that legacy for their own. Thinking they made the right choice and decisions. I can’t say what they were thinking, I’m not that old.
Azgadaan says: You look rather young.
Phaedra says: Thank you, but flattery won’t get you points with me. Not yet.
Azgadaan says: No harm in trying.
Phaedra says: But there’s something you will need to come to terms with, Azgadaan. You can try to understand the draenei, you can earn their respect, learn their customs, maybe live among them, but you’re never going to be a draenei. Just like how we will never be eredar. Even if our peoples were once one, the struggles you have gone through, and the struggles we have, means there is no turning back to that time. If you can’t come to terms with that, you might as well give up, and go back to your father.
Azgadaan says: Mm. Can’t do that either. Didn’t you hear? I’m a wanted man.
Phaedra says: Look at you, mister popular.
Azgadaan says: It’s tough sometimes.
Phaedra says: You don’t have to tell me that.
Phaedra pauses for a moment.
Phaedra says: You know, I have distant relatives that stayed behind on Argus. Who stayed with Kil’jaeden and Archimonde. I don’t know them, I believe they were cousins or second cousins… distantly related. I don’t have any desire to meet them, I don’t even know their names. Frankly, I don’t know why I’m telling you this.
Azgadaan says: Well. Thanks for telling me.
Phaedra shrugs.
Phaedra says: I hope you can find this person, and I hope they can help you. More than I can help you anyway, not that it’s my role to help you. Unlike Remnii, I am not compelled to help every lost sheep I run into.
Azgadaan says: I guess so… Uh… would you mind meeting later, I have a few things to show you that I can’t right now.
Phaedra furrows her brow, but nods.
Phaedra says: Sure.
Phaedra finishes her meal and stands again.
Phaedra says: This has been a pleasure, Azgadaan. Should you need to understand what we spoke of more, consider the reasoning--the truth--behind why you chose to hide your face. That truth may lead you to deeper thoughts about what you need to face in the future. After all, you can’t hide who or what you are. While we don’t always see eye to eye, I would be remiss to say the world would be missing out on something if you concealed your face all of the time.
She offers a smirk before she leaves.
Azgadaan says: Thank you, Phaedra.
There is the hint of a grin as she turns away, and her tail flicks as she leaves.
Nyxxa finds Go’el sitting with his daughter. She seems to be telling him about a dream, but she waves at Nyxxa as she approaches.
Go'el says: Do you need a spot to eat, Nyxxa?
Nyxxa says: Not if I’m interrupting!
Geya'rah says: Oh no, it’s fine. I don’t remember most of the rest of the dream anyways. Besides, I’d like to know you more!
Nyxxa smiles.
Nyxxa says: Well, as long as I’m not imposing.
Geya shakes her head.
Geya'rah says: Not at all! I like your horns, by the way!
Nyxxa says: Oh. Thank you.
Azuka is sitting nearby, clearly having been drug into talking to her. Dornaa is flitting around, as she’s bad at sitting in one spot for long.
Nyxxa says: You seem to be getting to know Azuka.
Geya smiles.
Geya'rah says: Of course! We’ve been talking all night!
Azuka Stormbreaker says: She’s been doing most of the talking.
Go’el chuckles.
Nyxxa says: Sometimes that’s just the way.
Go’el pats a stone nearby, and Nyxxa sits down.
Nyxxa says: When you have a moment, I owe you an apology.
Go'el says: What for?
He takes a drink of water.
Nyxxa says: Remember that thing you told me not to tell Arthak?
Go'el says: About his father?
Nyxxa says: Yeah, there was more to that, and it became prudent to tell him for different reasons.
Go'el says: I see. Well, I can’t imagine he reacted well to that.
Nyxxa says: It seemed okay. He just seemed super sullen.
Go’el sighs.
Go'el says: That’s why I didn’t want you to tell. He’s had complex feelings about his father.
Nyxxa says: I can understand why. There seems to be a lot of complications in regards to Broxigar in general. But also Arthak too.
Go'el says: I… I’ve often wondered if I could have…
Go’el sighs.
Go'el says: I learned so much from my mother and father growing up, I could hardly imagine what it would be like to have to live without their guidance and wisdom. I can’t imagine the complexities one would feel toward a parent that was never there. And from what I understand… his father may have not even known he had a son. Arthak is strong. Stronger than most people give him credit for. Stronger than me, for sure. So… I’m not angry, I just hoped to perhaps save some small amount of stress that he may not have to worry about, but you can’t change the past, I’m just glad he took it as well as he did.
Nyxxa looks elsewhere for a moment, as does Go’el.
Nyxxa says: No, ultimately… it became important information about the grand scheme. Something he can use. I think he appreciates knowing for that reason at least. I can’t imagine what it would be like… well, there’s a lot I don’t remember, so. I guess in a small way, I understand, but it’s kind of different. But. I get why he would have complicated feelings about that.
Go’el puts a hand on Nyxxa’s shoulder, and Nyxxa puts a hand on his.
Nyxxa says: It’s tough. Family stuff is tough. I remember that much.
She tries to smile.
Nyxxa says: But. You’ve got a good family here, Go’el.
She looks to Geya, who is chatting away with Azuka.
Nyxxa says: If there’s anything you need to talk about, I’m here to listen. I know you barely know me, but I know what you’re going through is hard.
Go’el nods and glances in the direction of the monument of his mate.
Go'el says: I appreciate it, Nyxxa. Truly.
Nyxxa says: There’s actually something else I should apologize for. When I wasn’t sure what was going on in Outland, I may have given someone your name. I didn’t want things to come to blows.
Go'el says: Who?
Nyxxa says: That’s probably a discussion for later, and one that is more protected, as long as you’re in the mood. A lot has happened, and I stumbled into an opportunity to mend some bridges. Given what we’ve talked about in the past, I wanted to extend the offer to you to help with that as well.
Go'el says: So it was one of the small-teeth.
Nyxxa says: A human, yes.
Go’el nods and squeezes her shoulder. He gives a small smile.
Go'el says: Nyxxa, you don’t owe the world an apology.
Nyxxa says: Still. I wanted to ask your permission, but I couldn’t, and it’s something I wish I could have told you. I hoped you wouldn’t mind.
Go’el looks to the crowd and he points to an orc across the way. They are a bit older than Go’el, and he seems to be tending to his mate and two young children.
Go'el says: You see him, over there?
Nyxxa nods.
Go'el says: His name is Karrtog. He was hit pretty hard with the pox in the years before I was born. Without the people here in this village, he wouldn’t have thrived in the way he did. But without Remnii, he probably would be dead today. So would his mate. And dozens of other people that you see sitting about, eating, laughing, and enjoying their lives. In the brief time you knew her, I understand Remnii trusted your judgement.
Nyxxa nods again.
Go'el says: Well. I find it hard not to trust the judgement of someone who has the endorsement of someone who saved a lot of lives. Not because she had to, or anyone told her to, but she chose to. So I’m not mad you followed your instincts and told those humans.
Nyxxa says: I’m glad you have your trust in me.
Go'el says: And ultimately, if this human is willing to meet with someone like me, then perhaps they are one…
Nyxxa says: He’s willing to do a lot more than I had any right to ask. More on that later.
She looks over to Arthak.
Nyxxa says: There’s a lot going on, and I don’t want to place more burdens on you, but… things have happened, and I… I trust the group I’m with with my life, but there are some things I need to tell someone so it’s not just me that knows if something happens to me again. I don’t want to put that burden on you, but....
Nyxxa sighs.
Go’el nods and leans forward on his knees.
Go'el says: I don’t know how much help I can be, but for as long as you’re all here, I’ll at least do what I can.
Nyxxa says: For now, all I need is someone to know.
Go'el says: That much I can do. But we can wait until after the feast.
Nyxxa says: Indeed! Lets focus on the good things right now! I’m happy to see you again.
Go'el says: Likewise.
At that point, both their attention is drawn to some noise across the fire. There are raised voices. Durak and Dornaa are shouting at each other. The group of orcs are starting to shift their attention to each other.
Nyxxa puts down her food.
Go'el says: Oh no…
Nyxxa says: Has this happened before?
Go’el nods.
Nyxxa says: Should we stop it?
Go'el says: We should try.
Nyxxa and Go’el get up to approach, and the rest of the party is also approaching.
Dornaa says: Why do you bad mouth your father? You aren’t the only one who lost someone! Look around, Durak!
Durak says: Don’t pretend you know my situation. Besides, I don’t need an outsider telling me how to live! Just because he’s my father doesn’t mean he earned my respect!
Dornaa says: At least you still have a father, Durak! How many people can say that? I certainly can’t!
Durak says: Listen. I didn’t ask to have this conversation with you. Just because you’re one of my sister’s friends doesn’t mean you get to speak to me like this.
They continue to go back and forth, Durak now in Dornaa’s face. Geya’rah is starting to tell them to stop fighting.
Geya'rah says: This is supposed to be a happy celebration, come on!
They are ignoring her.
Arthak walks over and blows a large puff of smoke right between them. Durak coughs and shoots daggers at Arthak.
Durak says: What do you want?
Arthak Saurfang says: Silence.
Durak says: I think you can talk to her about that!
He gestures at Dornaa.
Dornaa says: Why do you always put things on me! I did nothing but try to get you to speak with some respect.
Arthak Saurfang says: If you’re going to continue this, take it somewhere else. The village is trying to have a feast.
Arthak indicates to the village watching this. Durak glances about, and as Arthak turns his back, Durak grits his teeth. Go’el takes a step forward.
Go'el says: Durak, please.
Durak shoots daggers at Go’el.
Durak says: The last thing I need is to hear you talking to me, father.
Durak’s hand is trembling, and he reaches forward to grab Arthak’s shoulder. Arthak stops but doesn’t turn around.
Durak says: You. You think that you can just walk away? After everything that you’ve done? I should--
There is a distinct sound of the wind being knocked out of Durak, and he hits the ground. Azuka had shot forward and punched him in the gut, and then knocked him over.
She steps on Durak’s chest.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: Don’t touch my chieftain.
Arthak turns to Azuka, and she looks up at Arthak, down at Durak, and then up at Arthak again. She steps off, and Durak dusts himself off with angry rage.
Durak says: I don’t need to stay here for this!
He shoves past Dornaa and his sister, and pushes through the crowd and leaves. Arthak looks at Azuka and nods, then looks up at Go’el.
Arthak Saurfang says: Apologies, Go’el. I made that worse, I believe.
Go'el says: No worse than I made it.
Go’el turns to the crowd.
Go'el says: Back to the fest, everyone. Lets get this all cleaned up so we can get some rest.
Everyone starts to disperse, as the feast is mostly over. Kroll is bidding everyone goodnight as the mess is cleaned up. Sorak approaches Go’el.
Sorak Thunderforged says: You know, you should probably go after him.
Go'el says: I think I’ll only make it worse if I do.
Sorak looks Go’el up and down.
Sorak Thunderforged says: Guess I’ll go after him.
Sorak pats Go’el on the shoulder, takes a few steps back, and then spins around to follow Durak.
Dornaa is trembling with crying anger, but Geya’rah seems to be okay, and is focusing on her friend. Go’el looks very tired, and a little helpless and sad. Sorak looks to be irritated as he leaves. Sadras had just been watching, and she puts a hand on Go’el’s arm. She looks over to Arthak and gives him a supportive look.
Arthak looks down at Dornaa.
Arthak Saurfang says: Apologies if I was out of line, Dornaa.
Dornaa says: It’s fine! That stung my eyes, but I’m mad at him! Why does he have to be such a jerk!
She stomps her hoof.
Arthak Saurfang says: Speaking from some experience with orcs that age… he’s an idiot, as a guess.
Geya’rah gets a small chuckle.
Geya'rah says: He’s grieving. You’re right, he can be dumb sometimes, but he’s still my brother and your friend. I don’t think he means anything he says.
Dornaa says: Then why does he say them so often? Just because I’m a draenei, why can’t we be friends? We’re friends.
Geya'rah says: Of course, Dornaa. My brother will come around. He just really misses his mother.
Nyxxa looks up to Go’el.
Nyxxa says: Kids can be hard even at the easiest of times. It’s okay to not know how to help them.
Go'el says: He blames me, I think. I wasn’t here, and he’s right. Maybe if I was, they would still have their mother.
Nyxxa says: Sorry to ask this… but, do you actually blame yourself?
Go’el is quiet and he steps past Nyxxa and puts a hand on her shoulder. He squeezes her shoulder but moves on without answering. He puts his hands on Geya and Dornaa’s backs.
Go'el says: We’ve had enough excitement for the evening. You two should get some rest.
Geya'rah says: Okay, father.
Dornaa clears another tear and nods. She gives Geya a big hug, and then goes over to Azuka.
Dornaa says: Thanks for showing him up. I was going to do that, you know.
She puffs her chest up a bit. Azuka looks her up and down, noting she's not particularly strong.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I’m sure. Night.
Dornaa says: Good night!
Geya also bids everyone goodnight, and she gives Go’el a hug before she heads off to find the tent. Dornaa heads back to Thelamis and Kaviir, and they start to talk in draenic as they check to make sure she is alright.
Go'el says: We should all think about turning in before too long. I’m sorry you all had to see that.
Nyxxa says: It’s fine.
Arthak Saurfang says: I was worse at that age.
Sadras chuckles.
Sadras says: I can only imagine.
Arthak Saurfang says: There was a reason I was sent to live with you.
Go’el also chuckles at that.
Nyxxa says: So you were a firecracker too then?
Arthak Saurfang says: Remind me to tell you the story behind my tattoos.
Nyxxa says: You have tattoos?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes, I do.
Nyxxa says: Cool!
Arthak Saurfang says: Hrmm. Not particularly.
Nyxxa says: I mean… I mean that’s up to you, I guess. But, um…
She turns back to Go’el.
Nyxxa says: We don’t have to talk tonight.
Go’el nods.
Go'el says: Tomorrow will be another day.
Nyxxa nods.
Go'el says: We have plenty of shelter for anyone that needs any. We can share our hovels and tents. We can put you up without too much difficulty, and you can stay for as long as you need.
Nyxxa looks to the rest of the group.
Nyxxa says: How long should we stay, actually?
Azgadaan says: I think we can stay for a bit…
Arthak Saurfang says: Once we get back on the road we likely won’t have a chance to recuperate like this again until the end.
Nyxxa says: Yeah, once this ball is rolling, it won’t stop. So as long as you’ll have us for a few days, Go’el.
Go’el nods. Kroll also approaches.
Kroll Gravenight says: We’ll be happy to have you! We have plenty of food and shelter for a group your size, no problem. Even for the big guy!
He gestures to Rexxar, who had been mostly silently observing.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, as Nyxxa said, we don’t have to tonight, but there are some other details you should know about.
Go’el nods.
Go'el says: I see. Well it would be good to know. We did manage to get far into things until it fell apart, so I can share what information we know as well. But in the meantime, we’ll see to it that you have what you need.
Nyxxa says: Thank you.
Go’el heads off to make arrangements for the group to stay. Nyxxa inclines her head toward Arthak.
Nyxxa says: That, right there, is going to need to be talked about. You saw it too.
Arthak Saurfang says: We need him at his best.
Nyxxa says: Not just that. He… not for this. It’s worse than I thought. For him at least. But that can come tomorrow. Good job with the kids, Arthak.
Nyxxa pats Arthak on the shoulder.
Arthak Saurfang says: Ultimately, words won’t change his mind on anything. He needs an opportunity to prove to himself.
Nyxxa says: Maybe you’re right. But it couldn’t hurt to be reminded who is actually responsible for this.
Arthak Saurfang says: Anger is good. Usually. Anger he can use.
Nyxxa says: I know I could use some rest as well. Personally, it’s been an admittedly rough couple days, so I’ll use this time to rest, and also be at my best. But, take things one at a time.
Arthak Saurfang says: As we do.
Nyxxa says: And if you have the time and are willing, before we head out, I’d like to spar with you, and I want to make sure I can do that without regressing a bit. Plus we can put on a good show for at least some of the kids?
Arthak Saurfang says: Tomorrow perhaps.
Nyxxa nods. As they leave, Nyxxa catches eyes with Lantresor, who smiles at her and nods.
Lantresor says: Like the river alright. You are a quick learner.
Nyxxa says: I gotta be! With the terrible memory I have, I gotta pick up things quickly.
Lantresor says: An unexpected boon. With the burdens of your past lifted, you can focus on the future. I’ll be interested to see where these tidings take us.
Nyxxa nods. Lantresor starts to turn away.
Nyxxa says: Before you go, though. Would you mind hanging out with me later?
Lantresor cocks his head to the side.
Lantresor says:: Do you need assistance?
Nyxxa grins.
Nyxxa says: Perhaps, but we can talk about it later.
Lantresor nods.
Lantresor says: I have nothing else pressing at the moment, I was just going to mediate and turn in. So certainly.
Nyxxa says: Alright, well, if no one else needs me, I’ll head off with you then!
Everyone waves Nyxxa off, and she and Lantresor head off.
Lantresor says: You wish to… hang out, as you said?
Nyxxa laughs.
Lantresor says: I assume you wish to join me for meditations.
Nyxxa says: Sure, but, well, there was something I kind of wanted to ask you, that I wanted to ask you for a bit.
Lantresor says: You know you can ask me anything.
Nyxxa says: Well….
She grins.
Nyxxa says: Well after everything, I was wondering.
Her tail flicks.
Nyxxa says: After everything that’s happened, if you had any interest in pinning down another demon.
She gets a devious grin. Lanteresor had settled into a meditative position, and his tail is normally completely still. For a moment, he doesn’t get it.
Lantresor says: I believe you have me at a loss. What--
He stops, and his tail flicks. He turns around and looks at her, she’s still grinning.
Lantresor says: ...I see. So that is what you mean.
Nyxxa nods.
Nyxxa says: No pressure, I just wanted to ask. But you’ve been nice to me, and I’ve been rather impressed by your skills.
Lantresor says: By my… skills.
Lantresor starts to blush faintly, and Nyxxa smiles genuinely.
Lantresor says: I see that you are throwing my lessons directly in my face and challenging if I can flow… like the river.
Nyxxa says: In a manner of speaking. But seriously, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. I don’t want to pressure you.
Lantresor shakes his head.
Lantresor says: You need not fear pressuring me, Nyxxa. As unexpected as this was… I… it has been a very long time since anyone has spoken to me like that before.
Nyxxa says: I understand that, in a way.
Lantresor says: Though… though I know I am not… I am not formally your teacher or anything, but I would not want this to be coming from a place of deception or… and I would not want to disappoint you.
Nyxxa says: Oh, please! It’s not like anything like that. It’s about having fun.
Lantresor says: I… see.
Nyxxa says: Learning about each other in a different way. And also you’re very cute when you’re flustered.
Lantresor coughs.
Lantresor says: You are kind to say so, I suppose.
Nyxxa chuckles.
Nyxxa says: Whatever you’re comfortable with.
Lantresor says: This is a land as familiar as it is alien, and I suppose this of all places would be somewhere for new experiences…
Nyxxa says: Maybe it’ll be my turn to teach you some things.
Lantresor says: ...Very well. If that is your wish, then perhaps we will... have a different battlefield upon which to spar…
Nyxxa can tell this is very much not Lantresor’s field of expertise. But they opt to retire together. Levia gets a sending via the sending stone.
Nyxxa says [sending]: I’m not coming back tonight.
Levia Blackflight says [sending]: That’s fine, I’m… oh. Oh. OHHHHH.
Levia starts laughing and loses time to respond.
That night, Azgadaan sends Samaara through the sending stone.
Azgadaan says [sending]: So. I’m at Garadar, and I ran into some lost friends. Dornaa and Phaedra and some others. Would you like to talk to them, even for just 25 words?
Samaara says [sending]: That’s a very kind offer. I would like to speak with Phaedra again.
Azgadaan sends her again and asks her if he should show Phaedra his ability to use the Light.
Samaara says [sending]: Remember, Azgadaan, I said I would help you, but Phaedra did not. Perhaps you should ask her. Every draenei you meet may not want to help you on this path.
Azgadaan heads off to find Phaedra.
Phaedra says: You know, Azgadaan, when I sneak out to see a boy, I normally want to see something good.
Azgadaan shows her the sending stone and offers to put her in connection with Samaara.
Phaedra says: Alright… I’m willing to believe this is not a trap, because I don’t think you could come up with a scheme this complex. What do you get out of this?
Azgadaan says: Nothing, I don’t think. I just thought you’d like to talk to her.
Phaedra says: Color me skeptical, Azgadaan, but okay.
Phaedra holds her hand out, and Azgadaan gives it to her.
Phaedra says: Do you just… squeeze it?
Azgadaan says: Think of the person you want to talk to. 25 words or less, unfortunately.
Phaedra starts to speak in draenic. A moment later, a big smile comes across her face. Another message comes through, and she responds eagerly and excitedly. She clasps the stone, takes a deep breath, and hands it back to Azgadaan.
Phaedra says: Thank you. That was very nice. You didn’t need to do that, but I appreciate it nonetheless.
Azgadaan says: I’m happy to do so, especially since the Ati-kaso were split.
Phaedra says: It’s good to be able to speak with people who you are separated from. Sometimes the pieces you carry with you are no more than memories, and sometimes memories do not make the best conversationalists, though we cherish them all the same.
Azgadaan says: You’re right in that.
Phaedra says: Thank you.
Azgadaan says: Happy to do so.
Phaedra says: But it is getting late, so if you don’t mind, I’m going to turn in.
Azgadaan says: I had one more surprise, but alright, good night.
Phaedra says: Now you have my curious. You can’t just drop that on a girl and not tell her.
Azgadaan says: I have no idea if this will excite you, upset you, or make you angry… I’m concerned about it too. But still, key word would be surprising. How well versed are you with magic? Before I do this, can you keep a secret for me?
Phaedra says: So, this is why you allowed me to send a message to samaara. You needed me to keep a secret.
Azgadaan says: I… guess?
Phaedra rolls her eyes.
Phaedra says: I was a priestess before Shattrath fell, and before I got a new lease on my life. I was not as attentive as Remnii was, but I was certainly better than Yrel, but that was a bit of a low bar, if we’re being honest. So I suppose it deptends. I don’t know about the true magics, but I know a thing or two about the magics I once used.
Azgadaan says: Alright. Um. Do you know a spell called blessing of kings?
Phaedra says: No. I was rather young 40 years ago. Still as beautiful, but that’s beside the point.
Azgadaan says: I’m not sure how, maybe it’s because I… no, that’s stupid.
He looks around and doesn’t seem to see anybody. Phaedra is tapping her hoof impatiently, but she hasn’t made any promises.
Azgadaan says: Please don’t tell anyone about this, since you may have more experience with this, I…
He casts the spell, and Phaedra’s eyes go wide, and then she frowns.
Phaedra says: Well. That’s the holy light. Why someone like you can cast it… I don’t know why.
Azgadaan says: I’ve been attempting to reach out and I think… something happened.
Phaedra says: Yes, I suppose it did. I guess congratulations, or something.
Phaedra looks very angry.
Azgadaan says: I’m sorry… hm… I shouldn’t have done this, I’m sorry.
Phaedra says: No. It’s good to know. I can’t say why the Light would choose to grant you this, when it stripped myself and my brothers and sisters of it. Maybe Remnii will know, I don’t know.
Azgadaan says: They hit you with the red mist… maybe that is why… but I don’t know…
Phaedra says: I don’t either. In either regard, good night Azgadaan.
She turns and leaves. Azgadaan weakly calls good night after her, but then heads back. He sees Veena hovering next to the ata’mal crystal, and she flies down to Azgadaan. She looks at him. Azgadaan casts speak with plants.
Veena says [plantspeech]: It’s okay.
Azgadaan says: I hope so.
Veena floats in front of his face and grabs either side of his head. Her eyes close, and he feels some magic transfer over to him. There is a hint of clarity, and peace of mind.
Azgadaan says: Thank you.
Veena flips in the air excitedly.
Veena says [plantspeech]: Yes! We are friends! Friends care.
Azgadaan says: Friends do care. Thank you Veena. Did they let you hover near the crystal, or do they shoo you away?
Veena says [plantspeech]: They have. They think I’m going to eat it. I just want to talk to it.
Azgadaan says: Well, the crystal is doing something important for the people here. Maybe you can talk to it another time.
Veena says [plantspeech]: I will talk to her… quietly.
Veena mimics the gesture of waving, and then flies back up to chitter to the crystal.
That night, Sadras joins Arthak in their small hovel.
Sadras says: This place is something else, huh?
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s simultaneously not what I expected, and more or less what I expected.
Sadras says: I can practically feel the elements moving everywhere around us. So full of life… but also death. It’s a strange feeling. Like being both incredibly lonely, and together at the same time. But the stars are beautiful tonight. Or whatever they are. Would you come with me? I want to go on a walk.
Sadras clearly has something on her mind, and Arthak nods and gets up to follow her. She takes his hand and they head to the edge of the earth mote. They are silent for a while, Sadras looking up at the nebula-like sky. She starts walking backwards so she can look at him.
Sadras says: So, how are you, after everything we’ve been through and saw here?
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ll be okay.
Sadras says: What happened with Go’el and his children… I didn’t expect it to be perfect, but I didn’t expect Durak to be so angry… I guess it makes sense. And it’s not the only thing that makes sense.
She stops and gestures to the statues on the edge of the mote.
Sadras says: This… this is exactly why you’ve become the person you are today. You’ve been through this already. I feel like I need to thank Durak because I might understand more about you as a person now, because of the lesson he and his sister taught me. What happened to Go’el is… the exact tragedy you want to avoid. The same tragedy that you had to live through. To be a child without their parents. Watching it play out in front of me makes it more real than hearing about it, but I understand. I understand with the things you’ve done and have to do, your life is in danger, and dammit if I’m not going to do everything I can to keep that from swallowing you up, and you will do the same, but you can’t control everything, and that fear is more real now… but the more I’ve thought about it, as much as I can respect and understand that, and understand how you feel more than ever, Arthak… I… I still think this is something I’m going to have to do. I know there are risks. I know there is always a danger that I might not be able to come home to my children, but it’s something I need, I think. No. I know I need it. Someday. But I… I can’t force you to do that. I can’t force our children. I can’t force you to do this thing that represents one of your greatest fears, one of the things you would never want to do, to perpetuate a cycle you were able to survive. While I don’t want you to do that, I think I do. I have to.
Arthak Saurfang says: I think I… know what you’re trying to say.
Sadras moves closer to Arthak and takes his hands.
Sadras says: Arthak, I will always love you. I will always be what I can be for you. But I think to do that… I need something. Something that would be unfair to ask of you.
Arthak Saurfang says: As it would be for me to ask you to not, or to wait until someday I could maybe give you what you need.
Sadras says: I’m sorry…
Arthak Saurfang says: Don’t be. I want you to be happy, and to do what makes you happy.
Sadras looks up at Arthak’s face and puts a hand to the side of his face.
Sadras says: I will always remember this time that we shared together like this.
Arthak Saurfang says: So will I.
Sadras says: It would be an honor if you… if you allowed me, I still want to call myself Broken Blade. I will still follow you and everything you built, everything that we built, but I would understand if you rather I say behind with my mother and father and Sorak.
Arthak Saurfang says: One can’t survive without it’s heart. Neither can a clan.
Sadras starts to laugh-cry, and she pulls Arthak closer and presses her forehead against his before giving him a kiss on his forehead.
Arthak Saurfang says: I said that everyday you give me a new reason to be proud. It holds true.
Sadras’s shoulders shake, and Arthak embraces her. After some time, the two of them returns back to the village. Sadras gives Arthak one last hug, and one last kiss on the cheek.
Sadras says: I’m going to stay with my parents. I’ll see you tomorrow morning, chieftain.
Arthak Saurfang says: Tomorrow.
Sadras turns and leaves Arthak to his hovel, alone. She looks back a few times in the low light before she disappears into her family’s tent. Arthak goes back to the end of the landmass and sits down to smoke until the sun rises.
Outland Day 18
The next morning, Arthak runs into Go’el, as he is walking back around the same time.
Go'el says: Couldn’t sleep?
Arthak Saurfang says: No.
Go’el nods as they walk back to the village.
Arthak Saurfang says: Sadras and I.
Go’el stops.
Arthak Saurfang says: We came to an understanding.
The realization dawns on Go’el’s face.
Go'el says: Ah… I see. I’m sorry to hear that, but I’m glad you were able to talk it out.
Arthak Saurfang says: The ending was a good thing.
Go’el nods.
Arthak Saurfang says: It was selfish of me to hold onto it as long as I did, knowing it wasn’t good for her. At least one of us had the courage to say what hadn’t been said.
Go’el nods again.
Go'el says: She always has been a rather fearless one, hasn’t she?
Arthak smiles and nods in agreement. Go’el gives his shoulder a firm shake.
Go'el says: Both of you have grown a lot, since meeting each other, and even well before that.
Arthak Saurfang says: It was good. And now it is ended. That’s how things are.
Go’el stops, weighing those words, and looks to the sky.
Go'el says: You’re right. It is.
Arthak reaches over and gives Go’el’s shoulder a squeeze as well.
Go'el says: It was a long night. We should get something in our bellies.
Arthak Saurfang says: Agreed. Likely to be a long day.
They head back to the village, and there is some degree of communal eating and living. The warband gets food and settles in for the morning.
Levia approaches Nyxxa and gives her a shitty grin.
Levia Blackflight says: How was your night?
Nyxxa says: It was good.
Levia Blackflight says: I couldn’t tell where you were staying. Was it one of the orcs?
Nyxxa says: Oh, it was Lantresor.
Levia almost spittakes.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh. Oh. Ohhhh. Okay. How was that? He doesn’t strike me as, you know. He’s kind of stoic and not really… was that good? Did you have fun?
Nyxxa says: I did!
Lantresor is sipping from a breakfast stew a ways away, and he notes the pair talking. Levia gives him a little wave, and he smirks and rolls his eyes.
Nyxxa says: It is not nice to eavesdrop, Levia.
Levia Blackflight says: You told me. I didn’t eavesdrop. I tried, but I couldn’t find you.
Nyxxa says: That’s what I mean!
Levia Blackflight says: So is this a thing, or is it a one-time deal?
Nyxxa says: I dunno. It just happened.
Levia Blackflight says: Alright. Alright. I thought you were crushing on Khadgar, so I’m trying to figure out how to write this little drama here.
Nyxxa says: I think you’re reading too much into that.
Levia Blackflight says: Uh huh.
Nyxxa says: I just like flirting with people who are nice to me.
Levia Blackflight says: That’s a low bar, Nyx.
Nyxxa says: Not as low as you might think!
Levia Blackflight says: Oh, that reminds me. I reache dout to the… whatever, and I got a few things back. I don’t know what to make of them, but I got a few answers. It, they, whatever powers are telling me these answers, they seem to believe there is a way to cure the satyr’s curse. It’s not easy from the sounds of the omen, but I think it’s possible.
The dumb grin on Nyxxa’s face fades.
Nyxxa says: That’s… that’s good. Um. That’s good news. I didn’t expect it to be easy…
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t know how to do it, or if they are trying to pull my leg, but I don’t think it was lying.
Nyxxa says: That’s good.
Levia Blackflight says: I didn’t know what else to ask as far as that’s concerned.
Nyxxa says: I have a follow up questions, but that can come alter. But you had other things, right? About yourself?
Levia Blackflight says: It’s not important. I have plenty of time.
Nyxxa says: Did you not ask them about you?
Levia Blackflight says: I might have wasted one of the questions.
Nyxxa raises an eyebrow.
Levia Blackflight says: It’s stupid. I’m still learning how the spell works. Probably yelling at it didn’t get a definitive reaction?
Nyxxa says: What did you do?
Levia Blackflight says: I may have asked who the hell they were. Didn’t get anything back from that, then the spell was over. Gonna try a less angry approach next time.
Nyxxa says: Do you want me there for support?
Levia Blackflight says: You can if you want.
Nyxxa says: I want to help. This is a lot.
Levia Blackflight says: I can’t do it too many times. It may not work, but we can try later tonight. But I don’t know how to get the answers? Are you some sort of evil entity trying to manipulate me? I don’t know.
Nyxxa says: Well... Think about what you do know so far and… you told me before this didn’t manifest until you transformed, you could ask if it had anything to do with your transformation?
Levia chews on her lip.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. That may not be a bad place to start.
Nyxxa says: Just think about. Start small and work slowly. Like little bites.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. Not a bad idea.
Nyxxa says: As far as the curse question, when you get the time… would you follow up with that? Even if it’s possible to cure a saytr, could I cure me? Given everything I’ve done to handle it?
Levia Blackflight says: Oh yeah, definitely.
Nyxxa says: Just take things one bite at a time, and we’ll figure it out.
Nyxxa pats her on the head. Levia looks down at the meal. She swallows hard.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. Good idea. Yeah. Do you want to finish this? I think I’m done.
Nyxxa says: Are you okay?
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah! I guess I didn’t sleep very well when you weren’t there, or something.
Nyxxa says: Um, if something is wrong, we don’t have to talk about it, but… you can talk to me if you need to, but only if you need to, alright?
Levia Blackflight says: Um. It’s not your fault, you didn’t mean it… but… yeah, I, don’t think I have an appetite right now. You know how you, um, became a demon hunter?
Nyxxa nods.
Levia Blackflight says: That… I know what that’s like. I’ve been thinking about that a lot the last few days, and my subconscious has been reminding me a lot at night. I didn’t want to say anything, and I’ve been trying not to think about the fact I’ve eaten a person before.
Nyxxa says: Levia, I’m so sorry.
Levia Blackflight says: It’s fine! You had no idea. I don’t think most people would be bothered by this, but…
Nyxxa says: It’s not… it’s something you’re allowed to be bothered by.
Nyxxa puts the food aside.
Nyxxa says: Whatever you need.
Levia Blackflight says: Then, I guess whenever…
Nyxxa says: What do you need from me right now?
Levia Blackflight says: I think maybe I wouldn’t mind you being there, because I’m afraid to learn the answers for my stuff.
Nyxxa says: I know what that feels like. Whatever you need, I’m here.
Levia Blackflight says: Thanks. It really means a lot.
Nyxxa says: I made a promise, didn’t I? As much as I can be here for you, I want to be.
Levia Blackflight says: You did. I might go for a… fly? I can do that now. Maybe see if I can bum a cigarette off of Arthak. I’ll see you later.
Nyxxa says: Okay.
Nyxxa gives her a hug.
Nyxxa says: I love you.
Levia Blackflight says: Love you too, Nyx. Thanks.
Nyxxa releases her, and Levia heads off.
Summerpaw approaches Arthak as he arrives back with Go’el and gives him a lick on his hand. Sadras smiles in his direction, and her parents greet him cordially.
Durak is not around.
During breakfast, Azgadaan can see Phaedra and the other draenei. He casts a quick sending at her.
Azgadaan says [sending]: Hi, it’s me, if you don’t want to talk to me, that’s fine, but if you want to, I’m free. Um. Bye.
Phaedra looks up and looks at Azgadaan. She swallows her food. She shrugs at him and responds.
Phaedra says [sending]: You don’t need to be afraid of me, Azgadaan. I’m not angry at you. It’s not your fault. It’s fine. Think nothing of it. Just things I need to think on.
The words cut off, but he sees her say “good morning”. She rolls her eyes and holds a hand up in his direction. Azgadaan nods and turns back to his food.
People start to go about their business. People are tanning leathers, others are doing stone and metal work, others are making weapons, and other things to be expected.
Nyxxa goes to find Kroll, and he greets her and they exchange some pleasantries. She asks him where she and Arthak could spar safely. Arthak also asks him where Durak could be found, and he isn’t sure. Arthak opts to ask his sister as she would be easier to find, but Kroll also suggests Sorak, as Durak had taken a liking to him.
Arthak sends Azuka to find Geya in the meanwhile, and she heads off to do so after admitting that they wanted to talk to her anyway. Nyxxa is smiling eagerly at her, as she’s “engaging in girl time.” Arthak offers that she can use him as an excuse to leave if she needs to.
Some area is made for sparring, and some of the older warriors do gather around to watch. However, as preparations are made, Sadras approaches Nyxxa.
Sadras says: I just thought you should know, Arthak and I talked last night after the feast.
Nyxxa says: How did it go?
Sadras says: We’re not going to be mates anymore.
Nyxxa says: Oh. Sadras, I’m so sorry.
Nyxxa gives her a hug.
Nyxxa says: I’m proud of you though.
Sadras says: It hurt, but…
Nyxxa says: But it’s likely better for the both of you, and you can still support each other.
Sadras says: Yeah, and I’ll still be with everyone. I’m not leaving the Broken Blade.
Nyxxa says: Of course, but if there’s anything you need from me, let me know, alright?
Nyxxa presses her forehead against Sadras’s.
Sadras says: Thank you, I appreciate it.
Nyxxa says: I know it’s hard.
Sadras says: Yeah, Sorak isn’t the most supportive in these sorts of things, so… he’s more of a good riddance type of person.
Nyxxa says: Some people are just like that. Whatever you need from me, I’ll be there.
Sadras sniffles.
Sadras says: I shouldn’t cry again today.
Nyxxa says: You’re allowed. You should let yourself cry so it doesn’t come out when you don’t want it to.
Sadras says: Alright. Alright, but not here.
Nyxxa says: Do you still want to watch?
Sadras says: Yeah, absolutely.
Kroll and Halno chatter for a bit on the sidelines, and Azgadaan cheers them on as well.
They take their position, and Nyxxa alights her blades, while Arthak gets giant. Some people are whispering and seemingly making bets. Arthak swings in first, connecting, and then he rolls around and smacks her very hard with the flat of his blade. Nyxxa is dazed, but she shakes it off fairly quickly.
Nyxxa then runs in with her glaives and sheer speed, slashing and spinning around, and leaving Arthak stunned. She charges forward again, her chaotic strikes going through him in his stunned state. She uses flurry of blows, and Arthak is stunned once again, thus allowing her to strike with another barrage of slashes before she backs off into a defensive position.
Arthak tries to strike Nyxxa, but she dodges around the first two blows, but then he catches her, and she flips around, catching herself with a hard landing, but she’s out. Some people trade some trinkets and coin that had been bet for this.
Arthak gives Nyxxa a hand up while she laughs.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well fought.
Nyxxa says: A good game!
Arthak Saurfang says: Vexing.
Nyxxa says: And people enjoyed the show!
Go'el says: That was some impressive tricks, Arthak. You’ve learned quite a few things recently, I can see.
Arthak Saurfang says: Can’t be too predictable.
Go'el says: I take it these are some of the things you learned from your friend?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes.
Go'el says: You wield it well, and Nyxxa, you fought admirably as well. I could barely keep track of where you were.
Nyxxa says: Yes, I suppose you’ve never seen me in a fight. But normally no one does!
Go'el says: That would be the point, wouldn’t it?
Nyxxa says: But! You had a conversation to have, Arthak. And I need a moment.
Nyxxa goes over to Kroll, who helps her care for some of her cuts and bruises. Arthak looks around to see if Azuka is reporting back with intel on Durak, but he sees none of the kids anywhere.
Nyxxa finds Go’el later as he is tending to his frostwolf.
Go'el says: You recovered from your little bout earlier?
Nyxxa says: More or less!
She looks around them, and Go’el informs her that leafshadow protects the mote from any sort of scrying.
Nyxxa says: Good. Well then, first thing’s first, I got more information about that whole Broxigar thing. The rest of the group knows as well. I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but I know why I was asked to look for Broxigar.
Go'el says: Alright?
Nyxxa says: I told you about the war a long time ago. Where we beat back the Legion. We did that partially because of Broxigar’s help.
Go'el says: ...uh huh.
Nyxxa says: So, why I told Arthak was because, as I understand, my people hold Broxigar in high regard. It’s a tool that he would be able to use to gain allies on Azeroth.
Go'el says: I can see why that would come in handy. But this war was ages ago?
Nyxxa says: Yes. I have no idea how that happened, but yet. That’s what happened, so I chose not to look too deeply at a gift-saber in the mouth.
Go'el says: That is… a lot. The idea… the spoken histories of the orcish people don’t go back that long, and yet your friend says Broxigar was there, on another world?
Nyxxa says: There’s more that adds validity to it… I believe her. From the attention Arthak has gotten from certain demons, it makes sense. From what I understand, they sought him out, and even Caria had taken interest in him for a similar reason. There is enough evidence. The demons know, they just aren’t sharing.
Go'el says: I understand. I suppose they would try to… disguise the event if this happened. The last time anyone saw Broxigar was when he went to confront elder Gul’dan about the status of the Horde. He did so here.
Nyxxa says: Here?
Go'el says: Not here, but on Draenor. No one had seen him, but neither was his body presented to his body or his mate. I don’t understand Gul’dan’s magics, but I suppose whatever occurred on that day could have perhaps sent him back…
Nyxxa says: Magic works in strange ways, and I don’t understand any of it.
Go'el says: I don’t either, for what it’s worth.
Nyxxa says: Ultimately, they didn’t find a body back then either. They assume that he died fighting off the Legion. It’s a mystery to everyone. But that’s just one thing.
Go'el says: That explains the unfair destiny thrust upon Arthak.
Nyxxa says: And why I’ve been asked to watch him. The leader of my organization wants to meet him.
Go'el says: I can understand that. If Broxigar stood against the Legion, then I suppose the scion of a hero of your war would be a good ally to seek out.
Nyxxa says: Plus I’ve been telling them what he’s been up to. She’s interested. She sees value in what he’s been doing. It’s not just that.
Go'el says: I can only hope this path will not be his end, but I should be thankful he has people like you looking out for him.
Nyxxa says: Yeah. There’s another thing. The friend I made. He’s… a mage from Azeroth.
Go'el says: This human?
Nyxxa says: Yes. He mentioned, when he was going after Sinestra--and that’s why he’s here--I was worried he would run into you and you would fight, so I told him about you. He mentioned wanting to speak with orcs. All but Arthak, Rexxar, and Azuka, he’s met with the rest of us. He’s given us some leads on how to better build trust with his people, in small gradual ways, but given what we’ve talked about, if you’re interested, I want you to be part of it.
Go’el sighs.
Go'el says: Nyxxa, I don’t know how helpful I would be. My place is here now. Everything that Kroll has to do… it’s too much for one person to handle. My grandmother, she had so much help, but now so many lives were lost here. I am honored that you’ve come to me with this, and you believe I would be able to help this human, but I believe you and Arthak and the rest of your people will be able to help him far more than I can. But… both you and Arthak have reached out to me, and I see now that I’ve helped him, and I’ve helped you so much… I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you. I will do what I can to help, but I think---
Nyxxa hears the beating of wings, and she looks up and sees Levia.
Nyxxa says: Oh hey!
Levia Blackflight says: Nyxxa! Hey, sorry, don’t mean to interrupt. Do you have a second?
Nyxxa says: What’s wrong?
Levia Blackflight says: Um. Sorry. Flew a bit harder than I meant to. I saw Azuka and the girls. The draenei and your daughter. They were flying away?
Nyxxa says: Flying?
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, on those gliders. I tried to get their attention, but I don’t think they heard me. Did you know they were leaving?
Nyxxa says: Just the kids?
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, just the three of them.
Nyxxa says: Oh. Oh no. Where did they go?
Levia Blackflight says: That island with the pillars. They were heading there.
Nyxxa looks to Go’el, and Go’el’s face furrows.
Go'el says: The quatertmaster’s know not to give those gliders out without informing someone… we should go to the center of the village. The children aren't supposed to leave Garadar without a hunter or someone else with them, they know that!
Nyxxa says: Should we follow?
Go'el says: We may have to. But for now, we need to go. Arthak should know about his child.
Nyxxa says: Actually, I can help.
She pulls out her sending stone.
Go'el says: It sounded like they were going to the Throne of the Elements. They know they aren’t supposed to go there alone!
Nyxxa sends Arthak.
In the meanwhile, Arthak notices Thelamis wandering around. She seems to be looking for Dornaa.
Arthak glances to Azgadaan.
Arthak Saurfang says: If you can send Azuka, she was with them.
Azgadaan says [sending]: Hello Azuka, it’s Azgadaan. Arthak would like to know how you’re doing.
Azuka Stormbreaker says [sending]: Um. Sorry. Um. They. They sort of talked me into it. Sorry. Um.
Azgadaan says: She seems flustered and she said they talked her into it so they seem to have gotten into some shit.
At that moment, Arthak gets the sending from Nyxxa.
Arthak starts moving to hook up with Nyxxa and Go’el in the center of the village. Phaedra is also there.
Phaedra says: What’s going on? I’ve been looking for Dornaa and Gey’arah all morning, where are they?
Arthak Saurfang says: Go’el, when was the last time you saw your son?
Go'el says: Last night. He stays in his own tent… I thought to find him this evening.
Azgaaan says: Arthak, do you know where Azuka is?
Arthak Saurfang says: I sent her to meet up with Gey’arah and Dornaa.
Levia Blackflight says: They’re flying to that island.
Phaedra says: What? What are they doing?!
Arthak Saurfang says: Convincing someone to go off without permission. Has anyone seen Durak?
Sorak Thunderforged says: I have.
Sorak saunters out from behind a tent.
Sorak Thunderforged says: I spoke with him last night seeing no one else was going to.
Arthak Saurfang says: And?
Sorak Thunderforged says: What do you think?
Arthak Saurfang says: He ran away.
Sorak Thunderforged says: Keen as ever, Arthak.
Go'el says: And you let him?! How could you let him walk away like that?!
Sorak Thunderforged says: How could I not let him, Go’el? I gave him the tools he needed. He’s likely miles away by now.
Go’el grabs him by the shoulder.
Go'el says: What did you do?!
Sorak Thunderforged says: What do you think? I told him why we were here, and why you weren’t here when your mate died. And he decided to go get it himself.
Go'el says: What?!
Sorak smirks.
Sorak Thunderforged says: Oh now you want to find your son? Come on Go’el. You can yell all you want, but it won’t bring your son back. Someone has to get that hammer, and if you won’t do it, someone else will.
Go’el shoves Sorak, who falls, but he stands up again. Go’el pants in anger, and then looks to the warband.
Go'el says: We need to go after them.
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes we do.
Nyxxa says: Absolutely.
Go'el says: The girls probably found out and wanted to help. They probably blamed themselves and went to find him.
Nyxxa says: We shouldn’t waste time.
Go'el says: I can get us there as quickly as I can. Gather around, I can give us a fighting chance to reach them.
Phaedra says: I’m going with you! I was put in charge of Dornaa’s protection and I won’t let her just waltz off, so you’re taking me with you.
She sends a krokul to go tell Thelamis and Kavir.
Phaedra says: How many can you bring?
Go'el says: Nine others beside you and me.
Arthak grabs Sorak.
Arthak Saurfang says: He’s coming too.
Sorak Thunderforged says: You know, that’s fair.
Go'el says: You made this mess, you will help clean it up.
Arthak Saurfang says: If anything happens, Sorak, we will have words.
Sorak Thunderforged says: We’ll have words, Arthak, don’t worry.
Sadras says: I’m coming too!
Sorak Thunderforged says: I’m going, but Wintermaw is coming too.
Lantresor says: I will make sure things are safe here. You will be alright on this on your own, I imagine?
Arthak Saurfang says: As long as they are alright.
Lantresor says: May the winds guide you swiftly.
The group grabs their things, and Go’el casts wind walk. They feel themselves get lighter and take off from Garadar. Faster than they realize, the Throne of the Elements come into view, and as they get even closer, they see three small figures currently heading towards the circle of stones. It’s Dornaa, Geya’arah, and Azuka. Dornaa is currently kneeling in the center of the cairn stones.
The group starts to take form on the shore, and Geya and Azuka turn and watch as the group forms. Geya immediately runs forward.
Geya'rah says: Father!
Go’el runs forward and embraces her. Azuka looks at Arthak and then at the ground.
Go'el says: What do you think you’re doing? You know you aren’t supposed to leave alone.
Geya'rah says: We just wanted to find Durak and bring him back. Dornaa wanted to apologize for fighting with him.
Go'el says: Where is he? Do you know?
Geya'rah says: Dornaa is trying to commune with the elements now. I didn’t want Azuka to be lonely, so…
Go'el says: Geya’rah, please don’t do this to me again.
Azuka approaches Arthak.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I’m sorry. I tried to stop them…
Arthak Saurfang says: You should have come and got us.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I know, but they--
Arthak Saurfang says: I understand.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I didn’t want them to get hurt.
Arthak Saurfang says: I know. I am… very angry, but not at you. Nothing bad happened yet.
Go’el turns to Dornaa.
Go'el says: We should bring her out of that trance. They’ve been unruly here. I wouldn’t want her to--
At that moment, there’s a gust of wind that picks up that sets the group slightly off balance. They can hear a voice on the winds, faintly.
Whispering Voice says: So many visitors in such a short time. These mortals, they flock here. But why?
In spite of everything Go’el has been led to believe, one of the pillars hums with power, and three lights materialize. Two look like eyes, and the third a mouth of shifting wind. They shift around, looking at the group.
Fury of Wind says: You have beseeched us, and we have answered for as quietly as we can.
The edges of the island begins to flood, just creeping towards another pillar. The water pools like dewdrops which forms a vague shape of a sheet over a person. Flickering at another pillar are small sparks like raining fire, and a rough humanoid shape appears, formed from guttering cinders.
Fury of Water says: You have clearly not been listening, Kalandrios. The young ones seek the path that was laid by he who came before. The sound that travels on the wind finds trouble reaching your ears it seems.
Kalandrios says: I am sorry, Aborius. The screams upon the wind… the cacophony makes it difficult to hard to hear, to remember, to know. I seek so much and so little that it is hard to keep it together. I am sorry. Can I help?
Fury of Fire says: It was you who set him upon this path, thus it should be you that tracks his progress. Out elements are in disarray, but his well being is still your responsibility now.
Kalandrios says: Oh… I’m sorry.
Go'el says: The furies… they’ve been silent for so long.
Aborius says: We never believed we would wake again. Yet when the earth shuddered and trembled, we began to return. I was first, followed by Incineratus. Kalandrios was the third, but Gordawg has yet to awaken. We feared for him as the earth shuddered and trembled.
Kalandrios says: I remember now. His words on the wind were of desperation. He sought our blessing, but we could not give it without the fury of earth. So he said he would find him and bring him back, and calm the chaos of the Elemental Plateau.
Aborius says: But he was so young. So young.
Go'el says: Where did he go? Please!
Kalandrios says: On the Elemental Plateau. Our children fight amongst each other, blaming each other for Gordawg’s disappearance. It is all we can do to keep ourselves regenerating, to keep this land from breaking. We are as young now as he who has gone to seek him. Our furious children on the plateaus above… he will find no solace from them. They have been alone for so long, and our voices are not yet loud enough to reach them.
Go'el says: What can we do to help?
Incineratus says: Follow after him. Quell the disparate voices above. Pierce through and bring them peace. Find the voice that has risen in our absence, and bring them the peace that they deserve, for their war needs not be fought. So we can be in harmony as we always were. Unity, not disarray.
Go’el looks to Sorak.
Go'el says: We are going to do this. We will help the furies recover, and we will bring back my son.
Sorak Thunderforged says: I’m glad to hear you say that, Go’el, and I’m with you.
Go'el says: We can handle this. The Elemental Plateau is dangerous. Certainly too dangerous for you.
He looks to the kids. Dornaa stands up.
Dornaa says: But I want to help as well, Master Go’el. I have already promised to assist. Besides, it’s my fault Durak left. I yelled at him, so I want to help him come back safely, okay?
Arthak Saurfang says: Durak made his own choices. Though he was not without help, it wasn’t you.
Nyxxa says: This is not your fault.
Dornaa says: Then I want to make my own choice! And my choice is to go help!
Nyxxa looks at Phaedra, who looks exasperated.
Phaedra says: This is a terrible idea. What will your mother and father say if I let you?
Dornaa says: Phaedra, I’ve come this far, and they have done so much for me!
She gestures to the furies.
Dornaa says: They made sure I was not lonely, now they are! If you want to protect me, then help me.
Geya'rah says: I want to help too. He’s my only brother. Plus we have Azuka with us too. With how she showed Durak, what’s a few elementals?
Azuka looks at Arthak.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: It’s your call.
Arthak Saurfang says: What do you want?
Azuka looks at the two girls.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I want to help them. I want to help you. I don’t want… I don’t want anyone else to lose anything else. I know what being alone is like. It’s better if we hunt together, right?
Sadras smiles and runs a hand through Azuka’s hair.
Sadras says: If that’s what you all want, I won’t stop you. But I…
She looks at Go’el and Arthak.
Sadras says: I am not anyone’s father. But if you feel like you have to do this, then I’ll watch your back. I always will.
Arthak Saurfang says: We shouldn’t. It’s not a good idea.
Go’el sighs.
Go'el says: All of you will stick close to us. No risks. It’s going to be dangerous, and I will not lose any of you. I admire your spirit, Dornaa, but this isn’t your fault. But I will gladly accept what help you can safely give.
Aborius says: The Elemental Plateau is in ruins far above. We perhaps could have brought you there…
Kalandrios says: But perhaps there is.
The wind starts to whip around.
Kalandrios says: Go with what little blessing and strength I can, and ride the wind with your companions.
Geya’rah looks to her father.
Geya'rah says: Thank you, father. We’ll bring him home. I’ve been learning a lot. You and mom taught me very well.
Go'el says: You sound just like her.
Nyxxa says: I appreciate your moxie, but focus on protecting each other. If you need to get out, get out.
Arthak Saurfang says: If we are… if this is happening. You do exactly what we say, when we say it, including if we tell you to leave. You will leave. Am I clear?
Azuka nods quickly, as does Geya’rah. Arthak looks at Dornaa expectantly.
Dornaa says: I promise we will all get to Garadar together with Durak.
Arthak Saurfang says: No. Promise me. If you cannot do that, you will not go.
Dornaa nods.
Arthak Saurfang says: Say it.
Dornaa rolls her eyes.
Dornaa says: We will listen to your orders and do as you say.
Arthak Saurfang says: Including if we tell you to go back.
Dornaa says: Yes, alright. But I am going with you, you can’t just tell me to go back now.
Arthak Saurfang says: If you act in good faith, I will act in good faith.
Dornaa says: Okay.
Dornaa holds her hand out, and Arthak takes it.
Go'el says: Furies, we will go. And hopefully we can bring some peace to the plateau, and find my son.
Sorak moves past Arthak.
Sorak Thunderforged says: I guess this is one way to get him out of his slump, isn’t it?
He smirks, and Arthak scowls. They take their mist forms and take off toward the plateau.
