Outland Day 46

The group notes the sophisticated wheelchair that Zaela is in as she finishes gathering her things. She smirks as she turns to them.

Zaela says: Where’s my rylak?
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s back home.
Zaela says: And how’s Garrosh? He hasn’t gotten himself killed, has he?
Arthak Saurfang says: Lying low.

Zaela nods.

Zaela says: Sounds like him.

She slaps her knees.

Zaela says: Alright, well, I got most of my shit packed. I guess if I’m going with you for now, do you have a way back to Azeroth?
Arthak Saurfang says: Eventually… but…

He glances at Aracyra.

Arthak Saurfang says: Would it be possible, Lady Aracyra, are you heading back to Azeroth after this?
Aracyra says: Well yes, eventually, after Azgadaan and I take some time to rest after these ordeals. I suppose you can come with us, you’d just have to stay here a bit longer.
Zaela says: I suppose that’s fine. Little more time to get used to this thing.
Arthak Saurfang says: Other option is you come with us… we’re on Outland currently. Has anyone told you what Outland is?

Zaela’s brow furrows.

Zaela says: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Arthak Saurfang says: Right. After you left, the Azerothian’s attacked the portal, and their attack was successful. Its destruction shattered Draenor. It still exists, but it’s changed. It’s in the Twisting Nether, as Argus is.
Zaela says: Well shit…
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. So, we made a detour here, but we are currently running operations in Outland. Working with the Legion.
Zaela says: Is that so? Well, the sooner I can get back to Azeroth, the better, and the sooner I can make sure Garrosh doesn’t get himself killed, the better. I don’t think I trust Skullcrusher to lead the clan without someone making sure he doesn’t double-back on the whole business.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, in that case, traveling back with Lady Aracyra would be the fastest route. I’m not sure how much longer we’ll be on Outland.
Zaela says: What are you doing out there? There can’t be too much left?
Arthak Saurfang says: You’d be surprised. We’re currently tasked with assisting Lord Mannoroth in consolidating control over Outland. There’s a number of renegade factions seeking to oppose the Horde and Legion forces there.

Zaela’s brow furrows.

Zaela says: Does this have something to do with Mor'ghor and Sinestra?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. Sinestra is our primary target.

Zaela considers for a moment.

Zaela says: I’ve got more than a couple of bones to pick with that son of a bitch…
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, it is your decision. Though we have discovered time runs different between Azeroth and Outland. The few months that transpired between the shattering of the Dark Portal and our arrival… a year had passed on Outland. It’s unclear how much time will pass on Azeroth.
Zaela says: Guess that’s a tough decision then. But it might be for the best I get best, despite how much I want to make Mor'ghor's blood run.
Arthak Saurfang says: I can try to take him alive. Or deliver his head.
Zaela says: Either one will be fine with me.
Arthak Saurfang says: I can make that happen. It won’t be the first or last upstart chieftain whose head I’ve collected.

Zaela spits on the ground, and Orianelle winces. The imp rolls his eyes and starts to clean it up.

Zaela says: He’s no chieftain.
Arthak Saurfang says: Neither was Fenris’s get.
Zaela says: Well. I’ll return with the two of you then.

She looks at Azgadaan and Aracyra. Azgadaan is basically half-asleep on Aracyra’s shoulder, her arm around his shoulder in a gentle vice-grip.

Orianelle says: It was a pleasure to work with you, Zaela, and thank you for the opportunity to help get you prepared to continue to shine bright for your people.

Orianelle bows.

Zaela says: I appreciate it as well, doctor. You didn’t have to do all that, but thanks.

She pounds her chest twice with a closed fist, and Orianelle smiles with a small blush.

Orianelle says: You are good to be released. If anything comes up, doesn’t hesitate to reach out again. I will do whatever I can to keep apprised of your condition, but you should be okay.
Zaela says: Okay.

Orianelle looks back at the group.

Orianelle says: Anything else you needed? I can take a look at you-- oh. Maybe you should get him some bedrest instead.
Aracyra says: I will, thank you! You’ve been a great help, doctor.

Aracyra gives Orianelle’s hand a gentle squeeze.

Aracyra says: I’m sure I’ll see you aboard the Vitiator.
Orianelle says: Yes. I will be returning soon once the Vitiator completes its upgrades.

The group leaves and exits the medical facility.

Nyxxa says: Do we have a place to stay?
Aracyra says: There are any number of places, but I’m sure we could stay at the Archival Authority. The master suite is large enough to fit us, and I’m sure I can some private suites if anyone wants some privacy.
Halno says: I’m gonna see the sights. No one will bother me, right?
Aracyra says: I can’t guarantee that… it’s a big city and there are a lot of people. But if you want to stay on your own, you can.
Halno says: I just figured I’d see the sights. I don’t do the sleep thing anymore. Just give me a heads up when you guys leave.

Halno looks at Arthak.

Arthak Saurfang says: As you wish.
Nyxxa says: If we’re spending the night here… I might actually visit a brothel.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh, not alone you’re not!
Nyxxa says: I want to know where you’re staying so I can find you, but it’s been a long day.
No'Rash says: Brothel?

Arthak takes a brief moment to explain the concept to No’Rash.

No'Rash says: Hm. Mating den. Interesting.
Go'el says: Something like that.
Arthak Saurfang says: One based on the exchange of coin.
Aracyra says: It won’t be hard to find us. The Archival Authority’s main branch is in sector 6 near the center of the city. It’s one of the larger buildings.
Nyxxa says: The question is if they’d let me in.
Aracyra says: If they give you any problems, just say you’re here as a guest of Princess Aracyra. I’ll make sure they know to expect you.
Nyxxa says: Of course! Thank you. Unless anyone is opposed to the idea, I can stay, but this is well…

She shrugs.

No'Rash says: I think you owe yourself a bit of… recreation?

He gives her a slap on the shoulder.

Arthak Saurfang says: There won’t be much room for it when we get back.
Nyxxa says: Any when in Argus…

She hands most of her money over to Arthak.

Nyxxa says: Last time I was in Argus, I lost a lot of this.
Arthak Saurfang says: ...Okay.

Levia grins.

Levia Blackflight says: I’ll make sure she doesn’t get lost or have too much fun.
Arthak Saurfang says: Go forth and do your duty.
Go'el says: Just make sure you come back safely.
Nyxxa says: Of course. We’ll look out for each other!

Nyxxa puts an arm around Levia and they head off.

Nyxxa says: There is something I wanted to talk to you about though…
Levia Blackflight says: I got that sense.
Nyxxa says: Rakeesh explained to me what those eyes mean, and something we will need to be mindful of in the future.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh? What is it all about?
Nyxxa says: He seemed to be very secretive about it, but it’s probably good Azgadaan is told eventually… but what it boils down to is he can’t be allowed to reform in the Nether, because if he does, he will no longer be Azgadaan.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh, is that all?

Nyxxa nods.

Levia Blackflight says: Well, that was the case anyway, right?
Nyxxa says: Yeah, but I think this is more akin to a fate worse than death…
Levia Blackflight says: We’ll just have to make sure he doesn’t get himself killed again.
Nyxxa says: I ask you show discretion… but…
Levia Blackflight says: Well, there’s nothing that we can really do about it. We just gotta keep getting stronger and making sure our friends don’t die.
Nyxxa says: Yeah. You are the best person to prevent that in a pinch.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, somehow.
Nyxxa says: Things to worry about later.
Levia Blackflight says: Good to know, but right now I don’t think I need to know any of that.

They discuss a bit about where to go, and they opt to go to a middle-class place after some investigation. They manage to find one of many clubs run by the various succubus covens. At some point during the night, they get separated.

When they eventually reconvene, Levia admits she might have spent more money than she meant to.

Nyxxa says: Are you doing alright?
Levia Blackflight says: Oh yeah. I’m doing awesome.

She seems to be somewhat high.

Meanwhile, Halno had spent time wandering around the city. He had popped into a few magic shops and he eventually finds his way to a quieter section. He hears some voices speaking in eredun nearby. They seem to be arguing about broken promises.

Halno toddles after the voices, and he hears the unmistakable sound of pain. As he rounds the corner, he sees a heavily cloaked figure, and the individual pulls a blade from the chest of the other. Bright green pours from the wound as the other eredar falls to his knees, reaching for his sliced throat. The cloaked figure turns, and then sees Halno. Bright violet eyes meet his, and a dangerous-looking dagger is positioned in her hand.

Cloaked Woman says [eredun]: You look a bit lost, stranger.

Halno tilts his head to look at the dying figure.

Halno says [eredun]: Yeah, I think I got sidetracked. Do you know the way back to the more populated areas?

The woman starts walking towards Halno.

Cloaked Woman says [eredun]: Sure do. But why are you trying to go back there?
Halno says [eredun]: Well. Haven’t seen anything interesting out this way. I was looking for shops or sight seeing, but this area doesn’t seem to have too much of that.
Cloaked Woman says [eredun]: Yeah, it looks like you found something else entirely, didn’t you? Unfortunately I’m not sure I can let you go.
Halno says [eredun]: That is incredibly unfortunate. Yup. I knew I shouldn’t have gone wandering around on my own. Well. At least I found something interesting. That knife is probably the most interesting thing I’ve seen.
Cloaked Woman says [eredun]: Let me give you a closer look.

She raises the dagger and then disappears into the shadows. Halno catches her at the last second just as she leaps out of the darkness, and he promptly uses [Shield] to deflect the blade aside. Halno casts [Inflict Wounds] in response, holy damage blasting through her--however, it is not as effective as he would have hoped which indicated that this woman was likely an eredar.

The woman dips into the shadows and reappears again, slashing into him and getting by any attempts at shielding against the blows. The dagger digs into his side.

A magic finger appears in front of Halno’s finger, and then a shadowy finger appears over the woman’s head and pushes down. The woman’s clothing becomes looser as she is wracked with necrotic energy from the [Finger of Death]. She gasps for breath, and then goes limp, her lifeless corpse looking up at him.

Halno says: Huh. Well.

He examines the dagger she has. It seems to be fashioned out of a massive fang of some sort. He also goes to investigate the other dead eredar--but he now notes it wasn’t an eredar. They seemed to be a krokul, but his flesh is fel-pocked and scarred with fel magic.

Halno flips one of the coins the krokul had.

Halno says: Hm. Yeah. Not my problem.

He returns to the zombie, smacks her in the back of the head with his scepter, and leaves her lifeless corpse on the ground after he takes her dagger and examines her body and other belongings. He had also found a blackened, charred metal ring, and her armor also seems to be magical. The ring is a ring of loyalty affixed to her finger. The dagger is a dagger of venom that had likely been made from the fang of a large felhound. The armor is studded leather armor that seems to have been enchanted like a cloak of elvenkind.

After he starts to strip the corpse of her armor, he notes her skin is jet black--partially because of the magic, but also something else potentially. He considers for a moment, but then opts to just take the dagger and be on his way. He casts [Dimension Door] a few times to cover his tracks.

As the remainder of the group heads toward the Archival Authority, they find themselves in a very wealthy part of the city. The number of eredar around also has drastically increased in the area.

The massive building they are approaching has three towers that connect into a point. It’s a brightly lit bastion with four sub-buildings that serve as entrances. There are a number of wrathguard that are watching the area, but they quickly bow to Aracyra as she approaches. The group enters into one of the satellite buildings, and they see many members of the organization going about their business.

Aracyra heads over to an eredar secretary to speak to them, and she returns a moment later to lead them up on one of the lifts.

Aracyra says: I haven’t been here for more than a couple of years… it’s nice to be back, I guess. Don’t worry Azzy, we’re almost there.
Azgadaan says: Sounds good.
No'Rash says: Where were you in the meantime?
Aracyra says: Oh, aboard my mother’s vessel, the Vitiator. We’ve been busy for some time.
No'Rash says: Going to other worlds?

Aracyra nods.

No'Rash says: I was not aware the Legion was stationed on so many other planets.

Aracyra giggles.

Aracyra says: Of course! The Legion controls a vast number of planets, both in the Nether and the realm you came from. There’s always some place to go. My mother is in charge of the Archival Authority--the organization that is stationed out of this building. We live in the suites up here. They’re in charge of ensuring order is brought to all the worlds the Legion visited.

No’Rash nods slowly.

Aracyra says: Draenor is just one of many worlds I’ve visited. Though I haven’t been able to see much of the multiverse even so. I guess this is probably your first time seeing something like this, isn’t it?
No'Rash says: Yes… I… I never left Draenor until now.

Aracyra smiles.

Aracyra says: I’m glad you’ve been able to see something like this. The multiverse is massive. Azgadaan helped me see that, actually. Maybe he could tell you some of the stories he told me in the future. Once you’re all finished with your business on behalf of my mother, of course. By the way, it’s nice to finally meet you. I know things were tense earlier so I never formally introduced myself. I don’t think I got your name either.
No'Rash says: No. I did not give it. I am No’Rash.
Aracyra says: I am Aracyra. It’s a pleasure to meet you.
No'Rash says: You are Azgadaan’s mate, yes?

Aracyra blushes.

Aracyra says: Well, uh, I suppose by your people’s standards… that’s not the least accurate statement.

Her tail curls around her leg, and No’Rash shrugs.

Aracyra says: The suites are nearby. There is plenty of room for us all to stay there.

She leads the group out of the lift and enters an immaculate hallway with a velvet carpet that runs the entire length. The walls are adorned with trophies, such as skulls of exotic beasts and creatures that are preserved in holograms or taxidermy. They continue to a double door made of black, red, and white steel, which she places her hand against. She speaks a command word, and the doors slide open.

They are treated to a well-decorated and multi-decorated estate suite that is similar to the Vitiator but more comfortable. There is art and paintings all around, as well as sofas and couches and chairs with exotic blankets. It looks very modern, especially for those native to Draenor, but there is a strange peacefulness to it. The entire far wall is just clear glass, giving a beautiful overlook of all the buildings below.

Aracyra says: Make yourselves comfortable here while you’re staying!

She welcomes the group to the entire suite aside from her mother’s office, and shows them to the additional rooms in which they could stay. She smirks at No’Rash.

Aracyra says: And I have an idea of what you might be looking for!

She speaks a command word, and nearby tables and chairs evaporate, and several constructs appear in their places and take a combat stance--ready to be used for training.

Aracyra says: Feel free to practice upon these. They’re fully repairable.

No’Rash nods and looks at Azuka.

No'Rash says: Young Fury, I think your footwork could use some progress. Care to join me?

Azuka frowns.

Azuka Stormbreaker says: My footwork is fine but… yeah…

No’Rash and Azuka head to train and Aracyra squeezes Azgadaan’s hand.

Aracyra says: Lets get you to bed. I’ll join you soon too.

She leads Azgadan to her chambers, which are immaculate, plush, and covered in deep violets and purples. The bed is extremely comfortable, and as he lays down in it, Aracyra tucks him in and spends some time stroking his hair as he falls asleep.

Arthak opts to plant himself by the window overlooking the city and drops into a meditation.

Zaela joins No’Rash and Azuka for a bit to practice against moving opponents.

Zaela says: I wouldn’t mind getting some live practice!

She affixes some straps to her a thighs and grabs a battleaxe from her back and swings it around.

Zaela says: I don’t know how this thing works but hey! You! Come at me!

She points at a bot, and it doesn’t move, so she throws a handaxe at it. It catches the axe and starts to fight her.

Zaela says: There we go!

With a surprising amount of body strength, Zaela is able to maneuver around like a Frostwolf riding their wolf. She gets the hang of the movement more with time, but it seems she had started to get practice in for some time. At one point the wheels had gone sideways and almost seemed to glide across the training area, and she was able to use momentum and small fel boosters to spin the chair off the ground and pull the bot into a grapple and use her and the wheelchair’s weight to pin it to the ground.

No'Rash says: Impressive! Well struck, young chieftain!
Zaela says: I’m not chieftain! Not yet, anyways. But once you learn how it moves it’s not much different from the nelgor on our homeworld.
No'Rash says: I remember taking down a few nelgor in my time, heh!
Zaela says: With a bastard of your size, I’d be surprised if you didn’t. Plus you and the Thunderlords have beefed in the past, right?

No’Rash sighs.

No'Rash says: It’s how I made my name initially. How I became vanguard with the Frostwolves.
Zaela says: Damn. So you were a badass, weren’t you elder?
No'Rash says: I did what was needed.
Zaela says: I’ve always had a lot of respect for you Frostwolves. Even the former ones. Your people and mine have more in common than it may seem.
No'Rash says: Indeed. I can’t say I know too much about the Dragonmaw. Never had much time to spend among your clan. But I appreciate your words, chieftain.

Zaela smirks as he uses the title again.

Zaela says: Once you make your way back to Azeroth, maybe I can introduce you to my rylak.

No’Rash smiles and turns to face a construct as well. After a bit, Zaela opts to poke around in the kitchen--and proceed to be amazed by the various devices the eredar have. At one point she burned her hand on some sort of magic convection stove.

While No’Rash is taking a breather he sighs.

No'Rash says: Alright, fine, young Fury, your footwork is fine. Much better than our last session.

Azuka looks away, but there is a small hint of a smile.

Azuka Stormbreaker says: Told you so.

No’Rash chuckles.

No'Rash says: So. Broken Blade. It’s a new clan. Could not have always been part of that one. Which one did you come from?

Azuka finishes off another construct and sits down.

Azuka Stormbreaker says: I wasn’t in one.
No'Rash says: From where on Draenor did you come?
Azuka Stormbreaker says: Don’t know. I’ve been to a lot of places.
No'Rash says: That you found your way into this company of… heroes? Warriors? Champions?
Azuka Stormbreaker says: Weirdos probably.

Azuka smirks.

No'Rash says: Me most of all!

No’Rash lifts his headband to show off his red eye and makes a goofy face.

Azuka Stormbreaker says: Dunno. Hold a contest. Artha-- the chieftain can give you a run, but I think Prince Azgadaan wins.
No'Rash says: Why the Broken Blade? Why did you cast your allegiance here?

Azuka lifts her sword.

Azuka Stormbreaker says: Why not? Other clans have been around for a long time. But other clans never… stopped. Other clans never saw people like me. So… he did. Said whoever could hit him could join, so I hit him.
No'Rash says: Now you travel at his side. Curious.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: So?

Azuka looks down.

No'Rash says: I’m not questioning your choice. I just find it interesting. So young and so adept. You are more adept a fighter than I was at your age. He sees something in you.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: … yeah.

Veena, the small fairy-like flower creature, had appeared and peeks out from behind Azuka’s back. She nestles herself on Azuka’s lap and pokes at her sword. No’Rash blinks, acknowledging Veena, but shakes it off.

No'Rash says: What about you, young Fury? What do you see in yourself?

Azuka considers for a moment.

Azuka Stormbreaker says: Um… dunno. I… I thought of that a lot. I… think the best answer I’ve got is… a future?

Arthak smiles where he is meditating.

No'Rash says: A future. One that, at the very least, is uncertain for all orcs.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I know that.
No'Rash says: I’m not saying you did not--
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I think what I mean is before I had a name, before I had… people. I didn’t have a future. I didn’t have much of anything. I just… even food wasn’t a certainty. When we traveled, when Kaza dragged me with them, there would be days we would go to bed hungry. Even the younger orcs. Even the older orcs. Even before that, it would only be what I could hunt or kill. What small things I could steal from other orcs without them beating me. I didn’t have a name or a tomorrow, just a today.
No'Rash says: Such is the way of survival. My former clan… I was always taught that the pack functions as a unit. Besides that, we are solo wolves. But, a mentor of mine… a valued friend. His name was Drek’thar. As I struggled to learn who I was… I did not grow up with my parents. My father was killed by the Thunderlords, and my mother died shortly after giving birth. When I was young, Drek’thar offered something. The wolf survives better in the pack, but they are someone--no matter where they stand. I am not you, young Fury, but you were always someone before you met Arthak, before you came into this company, and before you met me. But it’s important to look at who you are now.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: I think I like being Azuka more than just somebody.

No’Rash smiles.

No'Rash says: It suits you.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: Do all Frostwolves sound the same? You sound just like Sadras and Go’el.
No'Rash says: Because we’re all wise sons of bitches.

Azuka chuffs, but she seems to be happy as she stands up to practice more.

No'Rash says: You carry on, young Fury. This old man needs some rest.

Meanwhile, as Arthak was eavesdropping on the conversation, Go’el had settled down at his side.

Go'el says: It’s something else to see it all like this.
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes it is.
Go'el says: It’s one thing to see the individual demon or those who had come to Draenor or Azeroth… but this city seems like it never ends.
Arthak Saurfang says: Everything ends. Buildings are what catch my eye.
Go'el says: They’re much larger than any I’ve ever seen. Much larger than those orcs could even dream of building. It’s like they built mountains in the sky and decided to live in them. Here I thought their flying ships were impressive.
Arthak Saurfang says: They build so much. Can you imagine the lives that go on so long? To plan, to build, to dream. Building all of this. Maybe because it was your duty to, or because you were made to, or maybe because you believed in what you were building. Building something so much larger..
Go'el says: It’s a daunting prospect. But lives as short as ours… to feel so small and insignificant. But this city too was probably built with a first step. Maybe not a stone, in this case, but something close to it. We’ll find a way. To build.
Arthak Saurfang says: I know.

Go’el glances back at No’Rash and Azuka.

Go'el says: They seem to be hitting it off.
Arthak Saurfang says: They are. It is good for Azuka to have other influences. Other voices.
Go'el says: Agreed. And in spite of everything, and the path he’s taken, No’Rash is a good orc. The wisdom he could impart is more than either of us could hope to. She’ll grow into a strong leader.
Arthak Saurfang says: If she chooses to.
Go'el says: If she’s half as stubborn as you are, old friend, I think she will.

Go’el looks back at Arthak.

Go'el says: She loves you, you know.
Arthak Saurfang says: I do.

Go’el clasps a hand on his shoulder.

Go'el says: Don’t forget that. Though I don’t think you will.

There is suddenly a sound that emanates from the direction of Shaspira’s office. An illusory eredun voice chimes in.

Automated Voice says [eredun]: Welcome home, Mistress Shaspira.

A moment after, the door to Shaspira’s office opens, and Shaspira exits--her hands folded in her sleeves. She notes the gathered group, and her face softens.

Shaspira says: Ah. I see I’ve not missed you. I’m glad. I heard of what happened, and I saw fit to visit before you return to your business on Outland.
Arthak Saurfang says: Glad you were able to, Lady Shaspira.

Arthak gets up and bows, and Shaspira bows her head.

Shaspira says: Of course. I must admit this is not purely social. I have a few reports to make to the Council, but… I was hoping I would be able to meet with you in the process. Handle two goals with a single stroke. I trust my daughter has been welcoming? Where is she?
Arthak Saurfang says: She is tending to Prince Azgadaan.
Shaspira says: I see. So I take it the ritual was a success?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes it was. Thankfully.
Shaspira says: That is good. It would not do for someone like him to have his essence lost permanently. If fate is kind, perhaps I can speak with him before I am forced to take my leave as well.

She gives Go’el a small nod.

Shaspira says: It’s good you survived the cataclysm. I trust everything is good with you, chieftain?

Go’el nods.

Go'el says: It is as good as it can be, Lady Shaspira. Thank you.

Shaspira glances about and notes the others.

Arthak Saurfang says: Were you able to cover the object you sought?

Arthak gives a nod and shifts a bit to show her his molten hand.

Shaspira says: Most excellent. Then I look forward to your momentous return even more so. There is another thing I wished to impart upon you.

She reaches into her cloak.

Shaspira says: How much longer will you be staying?
Arthak Saurfang says: On Argus?
Shaspira says: Yes.
Arthak Saurfang says: No more than… not for much longer. Enough for the prince to recover, and for him and your daughter to make whatever arrangements they need.
Shaspira says: Of course. I have additional payment for the arrangement between your clan and myself. I’m able to present some of it now, but if you and your companions stay for a bit longer, I can transfer this compensation in the form of credits that can be used on Legion worlds. It’s only useful here, but I can give you a greater denomination. Simply depends on if you wish to revitalize your stocks here.
Arthak Saurfang says: I believe the prince will want to stock up, yes.
Shaspira says: Very well.

She withdraws a black stone and hands it over to Arthak.

Shaspira says: This should have the equivalent of 20,000 rezzi. You can use it to restock whatever you need. I’ll be able to give further compensation after you return, but this should aid you in what duties you need to accomplish before you return.
Arthak Saurfang says: Given some of those duties involve dealing with Sinestra, this will be of great use.
Shaspira says: I wager it would.

The door to Aracyra’s chamber opens, and Aracyra exits.

Aracyra says: Mother! I didn't know you’d be visiting.
Shaspira says: A brief stop, my dear, but an important one. I trust you to treat our guests with the utmost hospitality.
Aracyra says: Of course, mother.
Arthak Saurfang says: Lady Aracyra has been an excellent hostess, especially given the trying circumstances.

Shaspira nods.

Shaspira says: That is most good to hear. I will regrettably have to entrust your care to her for the time being. I must be off. There are meetings to attend and individuals to prostrate before. But this was a pleasant break. I wish you the best of luck. Should fate be kind, perhaps I’ll see you again.

She notes No’Rash.

Shaspira says: You’re a new one.

No’Rash nods.

No'Rash says: A recent addition to this group.
Shaspira says: So it seems. Lady Shaspira. A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

She bows, and No’Rash nods in respect.

No'Rash says: No’Rash.

Shaspira mouths the name, committing it to memory. She also sees Zaela half in the icebox, who nods at her, and Shaspira offers a smile before looking back to the rest.

Shaspira says: I would ask one thing. Do you all notice anything different about Azgadaan upon his return?
No'Rash says: I believe he is in need of rest. I cannot imagine the toll the ritual took on him. Especially one of his prestige. In time I think he would return to his normal self.
Shaspira says: No physical changes? No strange behaviors? Anything like that? Beyond the expected fatigue?

No’Rash shrugs.

Arthak Saurfang says: Um… his eyes have changed. They’re now red. I just assumed it was a side-effect.
Shaspira says: You’re correct. It is. And not one you need to concern yourself with. Do… let him know once he awakens that if he needs to speak with me… I would like to speak with him. The after-effects of one returning from oblivion can be stressful for young as he.

No’Rash gets the sense that Shaspira knows more than she’s letting on, but Arthak knows Shaspira isn’t the type to be incredibly transparent. However, there was a shift in her demeanor that was not present before she had started asking about this subject.

Shaspira says: Until we see each other again, good luck. Do not allow a raving mongrel like Sinestra to pose any true threat. You have far too much to accomplish.

She’s looking at Arthak, and Arthak gives a nod. She furrows her brow.

Shaspira says: Where are the others?
Arthak Saurfang says: Nyxxa went to a brothel with Levia, and Halno chose to walk the city.
Shaspira says: Hm. Of course. Send them my regards, would you? And if you happen to see Rakeesh before I do, also send him my regards as well.

Shaspira holds her hand out and places it on Arthak’s shoulder for a moment. She then weaves an incantation of a bright red magic and disappears in a flash of energy.

Arthak sighs and lights a cigarette.

Aracyra says: I’m sorry… I didn’t know she would be coming.
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s fine. It was good to see her.
No'Rash says: She is a… person of power in the Legion?
Arthak Saurfang says: She is the head of this entire building and what it represents. She is also my patron.
No'Rash says: The allies we choose.
Arthak Saurfang says: And she has been a firm one.
Aracyra says: Right. I should probably rest as well. It’s been a long day. If there’s anything you need, let me know, but everything else should be found about…

She returns to her chambers to recollect herself.

The rest of the group opts to retire as well.

Outland Day 47

Azgadaan awakens the next day in an extremely comfortable bed next to his quite nude girlfriend. He takes a moment to take in everything, trying to recall most of the prior day. All he remembers really is that he was nothing.

Azgadaan slips out of bed, puts on some shorts, and sneaks into the kitchen to make some breakfast.

Arthak heads over, having been awake.

Arthak Saurfang says: By the way, welcome back.
Azgadaan says: Thank you.

Azgadaan gives Arthak a quick one-armed side hug and forehead tap before going back to cooking.

Azgadaan says: Glad to be back. Just making breakfast. Would you mind handing me that bowl?
Arthak Saurfang says: Mm. Sure.

He hands it over.

Arthak Saurfang says: Making breakfast for…
Azgadaan says: Everyone. And something special for me and Aracyra.
Arthak Saurfang says: What do you remember from yesterday?
Azgadaan says: Basically nothing.
Arthak Saurfang says: So… we picked up Zaela.
Azgadaan says: She’s in a wheelchair?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. And she’s going to be going back to see Garrosh and the others when Aracyra leaves.
Azgadaan says: Ah, I see!
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s not my business, or probably my place, but you should have some warning.
Azgadaan says: Some what?
Arthak Saurfang says: Warning. Aracyra… rather subtly was hinting yesterday that she was hoping you would stay with her and not return with us.
Azgadaan says: Ah. I need to talk to her then, yes, because I’d like to continue on my current course. Now that I’ve been diverted from oblivion.
Arthak Saurfang says: It would be wise, I think.
Azgadaan says: Yeah. I’ll talk to her. Though this might be difficult…
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, I have no advice. My mating fell apart and Aracyra honestly concerns me...

Nyxxa and Levia get to the Archival Authority at the same time as Halno. Nyxxa and Levia are a bit scratched up.

Halno says: Looks like everyone here enjoyed their night.
Levia Blackflight says: Yup!
Nyxxa says: Did… something happen, Halno?
Halno says: I had a lovely time. This place is great.

Halno is obviously lying.

Nyxxa says: I suppose we’ll talk about this later? But I’m glad you’re safe at least.
Halno says: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Nyxxa says: Of course, Halno. Lets check in with the others.

They head into the building, and Nyxxa notices a replica of the Aldrachi Warblades in a display case with an illusory statue of an Aldrachi warrior wielding them near the case. She stares at it for a moment and then they check in with the receptionist and heads up the lift. They emerge into the magnificent suite.

Nyxxa says: Good morning everyone!
Azgadaan says: Good morning!

Nyxxa runs over to Azgadaan and hugs him as Azgadaan holds the cooking implements away from them.

Nyxxa says: Sorry, I wasn’t thinking. I’m glad to see you!
Azgadaan says: It’s good to see you too. I hope you enjoyed your night out. Where did you go?
Nyxxa says: Brothel.
Azgadaan says: Oh!

No’Rash cocks his head at her, noting the wounds all over her body.

Nyxxa says: I knew what I was getting into.
No'Rash says: I apparently did not…
Halno says: Good to see you Azgadaan!

Halno had flopped onto a couch and started to read his books.

Levia Blackflight says: I know what to expect now!

Levia also flops on a couch and winces.

Levia Blackflight says: Ow. Ow. Back. Still raw…
Azgadaan says: Can’t you just fix that?
Levia Blackflight says: Oh yeahhhh!

She starts to heal up some of the wounds a Azgadaan finishes making breakfast and passes it out to everyone. Arthak opts to update Azgadaan about everything, and that Shaspira wishes to speak with him.

Halno says: So when are we setting off?
Azgadaan says: I’m going to go have breakfast with Aracyra.

He glances at Arthak and nods, and Arthak nods with a feeling of a salute. Nyxxa, meanwhile, salutes.

No'Rash says: We should make haste nonetheless. The less time we spend here, the better.
Halno says: You have no idea.
Nyxxa says: We do need to pick up some things… but I can start putting out some feelers of where we can buy things?

Azgadaan enters back into the room and notes her starting to slowly wake up. She smiles at him.

Aracyra says: There you are!
Azgadaan says: I snuck away. For good reason.

He presents the platter of food and Aracyra gasps.

Aracyra says: You didn’t have to!
Azgadaan says: I didn’t have to, but I wanted to.
Aracyra says: Aren’t you the sweetest!

Aracyra grabs Azgadaan’s head and leads him down to the bed so they can share the food together.

Azgadaan says: I don’t remember much of yesterday.
Aracyra says: Don’t worry, it was a stressful day for everyone. But you’re here!
Azgadaan says: Yes. I was nothing until yesterday.
Aracyra says: That’s not true. You were never nothing.

Aracyra grabs his hand and brings it to her chest.

Aracyra says: You’ve never been nothing. But it’s alright now. We’ll have plenty of time for you to recover your strength.
Azgadaan says: I’m actually feeling pretty good now that I have some sleep, some food, my friends, and you next to me.

Aracyra smiles and blushes.

Azgadaan says: We do have a lot of pressing things to take care of though. So much to do.
Aracyra says: Are you still worried about the business on Outland? Don’t worry about that. Arthak and the others can take care of it. You’ve been through enough. I think you earned a vacation, and you have enough to take care of on your own.
Azgadaan says: What do you mean?
Aracyra says: Recovering before you dive back into danger. And you and I deserve to spend some time together. This is our home. We should see it together… and maybe we should try to figure out what to do about your father. I don’t think you should hide from him. We can tell him he doesn’t have any right to tell you what to do. You can stay here with me. Better yet, maybe we can find something else. Then we don’t have to stay here. There are countless worlds, and the city is gigantic! We can find somewhere to call our own.
Azgadaan says: That’s… what I’m trying to do, Aracyra. I want to find a place where I can be happy with my loved ones. But I need to keep growing. I need to keep getting stronger, and I’ve made great strides. Just a year ago I could do barely anything… but now I can summon a mansion! I can make people dance like fools. Teleport great distances like you can. But I still need to make a few wishes come true. I need to keep going on my current course with my current companions… but that’s what I need. I truly truly want to go with you right now.

His hands are shaking.

Azgadaan says: But I need to keep doing what I was doing before I disappear. I promise you that me and my friends will do what we can to ensure we all come back. That I come back. I promise you this with all my heart. I won’t do anything reckless. I will prioritize my life. But I’ll also come back to you, and I will do what I can to make our lives the best they can be. Can you trust me with this?

Aracyra is difficult to read, and she offers a frown.

Aracyra says: Azgadaan… I don’t understand why you think you need to do this. This isn’t your responsibility. You’re strong enough. We can get stronger together. You don’t have to go back with them. You can stay here. With me. They can handle themselves. If you want to stay here with me, then why don’t you just stay?

As she speaks, Azgadaan realizes that she has a good point. After all, it was his life, and he could do what he wanted to do with it. If he wanted to stay with her, why didn’t he?

Aracyra says: We should just tell your friends you’re going to stay here. We’ll meet them when you return to Azeroth.
Azgadaan says: They are strong… and I think I should stay with you.
Aracyra says: I know it’s hard.
Azgadaan says: But I do care about them. It’s a good idea. If one of them died, I wouldn’t forgive myself, but you’re right, I should stay here.
Aracyra says: They’re not the ones I’m worried about. They can fend for themselves. So come on, lets get dressed, and we can tell them. Then we can help them get back to their business.

Aracyra puts on a sleek dress, and Azgadaan puts his borrowed clothing back on. The door opens and the pair comes back out.

Aracyra says: I hope everything was alright.
No'Rash says: As well as they can be. We are eager to keep going.

Aracyra nods.

Aracyra says: I know. You all probably have a lot to work on. Azgadaan and I have talked… but I’ll let him tell you.

She looks at Azgadaan.

Azgadaan says: We’ve decided you’re all strong enough to go without me, and I should stay here with her.

The group looks at him. No’Rash gets the sense that something is off, as Azgadaan had seemed pretty intent on leaving that morning.

Levia Blackflight says: You sure, Azgadaan? You definitely seemed pretty excited to get back to everything earlier.
Azgadaan says: I’m sure. Nothing could change my mind.

Nyxxa’s eyes flicker as she uses [Detect Magic], and Aracyra scowls upon seeing it. Nyxxa notes enchantment magic on Azgadaan.

Aracyra says: I know that you might be upset, but you should respect his decision. This is what’s best for him. Especially given what happened yesterday.
Nyxxa says: I suppose so… but Aracyra, can we speak a moment?
Aracyra says: Sure. Is there something you need?
Nyxxa says: In light of this, there’s something we should talk about.
Aracyra says: Okay. Fine. We can talk privately. I’ll be right back, darling.

She kisses Azgadaan’s cheek and then pulls Nyxxa into her room.

Azgadaan says: See you soon. How did the rest of you like breakfast?

The door closes behind Nyxxa and Aracyra.

Nyxxa says: I understand you want to protect him.

Aracyra is facing away from Nyxxa, and Nyxxa tentatively puts a hand on her shoulder. Aracyra shrugs her hand off.

Aracyra says: Don’t touch me. I know that you know. You’re not as clever as you think you are.
Nyxxa says: I didn’t want to accuse you, because I know where you’re coming from.
Aracyra says: Where am I coming from?
Nyxxa says: You want to protect him. You don’t want to lose him.
Aracyra says: What if that happens again? And we can’t bring him back? What if my mother brings his father back and I’m not there to stick up for him?
Nyxxa says: And what if he’s here and there’s nothing you and he can do about it.
Aracyra says: That won’t happen.
Nyxxa says: Rakeesh is pretty certain it will.
Aracyra says: Rakeesh underestimates me like everyone else does.
Nyxxa says: I’m sorry. But… whatever it is you did to him, what do you think will happen when it wears off?
Aracyra says: He’ll have second thoughts, and then we’ll talk it out, and everything will be fine. He’ll come around one way or another. And he’ll be safe here.
Nyxxa says: Do you think that’s what he wants?
Aracyra says: It’s what he needs, Nyxxa. And this isn’t up for debate.
Nyxxa says: Do you think he’ll be happy in a cage? Because that’s what he’ll need to keep him safe in this way.
Aracyra says: Do you think he’s any less trapped with you? That’s exactly what I want to prevent. I want us to be who we choose to be. Not running around at the whims of what we have to do.
Nyxxa says: Then what are you doing, Aracyra? To him?

She points at the door.

Nyxxa says: Then why are you using that to control him?
Aracyra says: Because I know who he is!
Nyxxa says: Because you know who he is.
Aracyra says: I know what he wants to do. What he needs to do. He told me he wants to stay. So I’m helping him do that. He’s only going with you because he thinks you need protected. Because he’s scared one of you will die. But you don’t need him. You’re stronger than that. I do.
Nyxxa says: That’s not true. We do all need him. And he genuinely wants to help us. He wants to be a part of what we’re trying to do. And I know that because it’s what he told me. He wants to help all of us.

Nyxxa sighs.

Nyxxa says: He’s always been a person who wants to do things with his own hands. Sometimes a little recklessly… but I’m not going to let that happen to him again. You can count on that.
Aracyra says: Can I really? Can I really count on you to protect him no matter what? No matter what he can come back to me alright? No matter what happens? Because that’s a tall order. And you’re strong, but I don’t know if you’re that strong. So what do you want me to do? Lift my magic and let him go with you?
Nyxxa says: I want you to let him do what he wants to do. Without…
Aracyra says: Without what?
Nyxxa says: What you’re doing is making the decision for him.
Aracyra says: Sounds like the two of us aren’t so different.
Nyxxa says: Perhaps not.
Aracyra says: And what if I say no? What if I don’t let him leave? Are you going to just tell all your friends?
Nyxxa says: I don’t know what he’d say if he knew you did this to him.
Aracyra says: Do you think this is the first time? We all have our talents, Nyxxa. We all have our ways of surviving in this world. Do you think he would have even cared about me in the first place?
Nyxxa says: If you hadn’t done this to him. I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, and you don’t give him enough credit either.
Aracyra says: Then maybe you don’t know where I’m coming from after all.
Nyxxa says: I know I came from a place where someone was doing this to me, and I was doing it to her. I had to leave. For both of our sakes. Nothing good will come of this, even if you keep him now. It won’t work forever.

Aracyra starts to shake and tears are welling in her eyes.

Aracyra says: Fine! If you think you know him so much…

She lifts her hand, and Nyxxa senses magic is lifted. She then grabs Nyxxa and yanks her out of the room.

Meanwhile, Arthak and had been talking to Azgadaan.

Arthak Saurfang says: You changed your mind rather quickly.
Azgadaan says: I don’t want to disappoint her. And you all finished that fight. You’ll be fine. I need to spend some time with Aracyra and smooth things over with my father…
Arthak Saurfang says: What about everything else we’re doing?
Azgadaan says: It would be fun, but I need to stay here. She needs me, and I need her.

Suddenly, the certainty he had starts to get cracks in it.

Azgadaan says: Though… give me some time. I need to keep thinking…

At that moment, the door swings open, and Aracyra exits with Nyxxa--looking perturbed.

Azgadaan says: What’s going on? Is everything alright?
Aracyra says: Everything is fine, right? Go on Azgadaan. Tell them you still want to stay.
Azgadaan says: I don’t know… I want to spend time with you, I really do, but I also want to help my friends…
Aracyra says: But you want to stay here, right?
Azgadaan says: I want both.
Aracyra says: You can’t be in two places at once!
Azgadaan says: What’s wrong? Aracyra…
Aracyra says: Please… just stay…

Azgadaan is quite flustered and looks around at the rest.

No'Rash says: If I may… something I may offer, Aracyra… you may have it your way and get your Azgadaan back for now, but the Legion clearly believes in the power he has with his name and title. You may enjoy your time together, but there will be a time he will get called to serve, and once again, he will find himself in some measure of danger. You’re only delaying the inevitable--
Aracyra says: Then we’ll make strength for ourselves!
Arthak Saurfang says: We should… slow down, a moment. Please.
Azgadaan says: Aracyra… lets take a seat and talk. Please?

He reaches for Aracyra’s hand, and Aracyra recoils for a moment, but then her breath hitches.

Aracyra says: I just… don’t want to lose you again. I don’t want you to leave again…

But she sits.

Azgadaan says: I don’t want to lose anyone either. I have promises to keep. I want to make sure they’re safe, and you’re safe. But I need to be out in the world acting. I can’t just watch things go by. I can’t just keep watching the people I love disappear in front of me. And if I don’t act, I don’t have a say in what happens to them. I love you, Aracyra. I need to act to make myself happy. If I’m not able to even try… I can’t live with myself. The time I spend with you is precious. I wish I could do all of it forever. But if I don’t act now, I won’t have it. It will just disappear if I can’t hold it together. I need to keep trying to make the best world I can. For myself, my friends, and my loved ones. I can’t save anyone if I do nothing.

Azgadaan had started to cry as he talks to her.

Arthak Saurfang says: Unfortunately… this is what love is. The good. The joy. The loss. The loneliness. And also the loneliness being worse. But it’s hard, and controlling it doesn’t happen. And if you try, it falls apart. Trust me, I… know. You set the boundaries together. You don’t get to set them alone.

Ara: ...okay. Okay. You’re right. It’s not my responsibility… it’s not my right to take you from the things you find important. You’re fine. You’ll go strong on my own, and I’ll grow strong on my own… and once you’re back we’ll both be strong.

Azgadaan says: Once I’m back, I want you to come with me. Then we can grow strong together. That way we can keep each other safe. If that’s what you want. Because I know I’d be a lot more comfortable watching each other… if you can stand coming on adventures with me and acting in this world?
Aracyra says: Just because I don’t like getting my hooves dirty doesn’t mean I don’t do anything… I spend plenty of time locked up in a cage. I know how that feels. Just don’t die? Again?
Azgadaan says: I won’t. And to make sure I don’t, I was informed we had a substantial deposit from your mother come in, and we can likely reinforce that statement. And Levia, you’ve casted a spell here and there that stops someone from dying. You can cast that on top, no?
Levia Blackflight says: Oh. Um. Yeah. Sure.
Azgadaan says: I won’t die, and I will be reunited with you.
Aracyra says: I’m going to hold you to that.
Azgadaan says: I hope you do. Besides, I need to finish enchanting these gifts for you.

He reaches for her hands and touches the bracers she’s wearing.

Azgadaan says: That way I can protect you even when I’m not near.
Aracyra says: I’ll hold you to that too. But right now, you and your friends should go. I think I want to be alone for a while. You don’t need my help to return anyway.
Azgadaan says: No. I guess I don’t. But I’d like to see you one last time before we leave. If you’d like that.
Aracyra says: I’m returning with my mother… so I guess it depends on when she leaves.
Azgadaan says: Okay. I’ll get out of your hair. I love you, and I’ll see you soon.
Aracyra says: I love you too, Azgadaan.

Everyone quickly gathers their things.

Go'el says: Thank you for your hospitality.

Zaela starts to follow after the group as they leave. Aracyra had pulled her legs to her chest and hugged them.

Zaela says: I’m not sure she’s gonna want to help me get back… so I’m stuck with you guys. If that’s alright?
Arthak Saurfang says: We can still talk to her mother. If not, it may be a bit before you get back.
Halno says: It’s fun traveling with us. Things try to kill us.
Zaela says: Ah, yeah, that happens.
Azgadaan says: It’s good to see you by the way.
Zaela says: Yeah. I understand your house helped outfit me with this, so thanks for that, by the way.
Azgadaan says: What?
Zaela says: The doc said I didn’t need to worry about it so she just charged it to your house… it’s kind, so thank you for that.
Azgadaan says: You’re… welcome.

As Nyxxa is riding the lift down, she gets a sending from Aracyra.

Aracyra says [sending]: I’m going to be holding you to that promise you made. You better not forget, or I’ll make sure you remember.
Nyxxa says [sending]: Of course…

Arthak puts a hand on Nyxxa’s back.

At the bottom of the lift, Azgadaan hugs Nyxxa.

Azgadaan says: Thank you for standing up for me.
Nyxxa says: Think nothing of it. Lets get rolling.

The group opt to go on a very fast shopping trip in Eredath before they leave. They arrive in a storefront of the Archival Authority overflow in sector 6 where they see many magical items in protective glass cases. Everything is well-guarded, and there are several members of the Archival Authority around.

After some direction, they do manage to find a ring of protection and wand of magic missile amongst a lot of other powerful scrolls and magical items: including a scroll of weird.

Arthak, however, had stayed around the Archival Authority building. After a few hours, he had head back up to the suite they had stayed in after asking if Aracyra was still there. Arthak knocks on the door, and there is no response. A moment later, a wyrmtongue comes rushing up the hall. Their skin is dark red with pink freckles and big spectacles.

Wyrmtongue says: Excuse me, Arthak sir. That’s you, right?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes.
Wyrmtongue says: Sorry for the confusion. I was sent here from the front desk. There was a miscommunication… it seems Aracyra checked out about two hours ago. She went back to the world she was on previously. I think it was called Azeroth… oh, Azeroth! I know what that is. But she returned back.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see.
Wyrmtongue says: I can leave a message for you for when she returns, but I don’t know when that will be.
Arthak Saurfang says: No, that’s fine. Thank you.
Wyrmtongue says: Okay. Bye.

The wyrmtongue scuttles away again, and Arthak sighs as he heads back to the museum on the first floor of the building.
