Appearing Locations: Grayfold
Appearing Enemies: Felhunter, Harpies, Kobolds
December 15th
The battle continues to rage on, and Borea swoops around to the side of the main group. A pocket of frigid air erupts around her, and she attacks Gil with frost shock. She then soars 60 feet into the air.
The kobold geomancer holds a hand out toward Uther, but Uther is able to resist the spell.
Borea yells: Bring down the sky, my sisters!
The remaining harpies take off into the air.
The swarm of kobolds rush into the group and they beat into Elissa, knocking her to the ground. Gil fires off several arrows at Borea, and one of the arrows sinks into the harpy leader.
One of the harpy sisters soars up to one of the hanging cages and she starts to rake her claws against the cage. It starts to falter.
The kobold tunneler that was engaged with Victor disengages and hurls daggers at Victor, Gil, and Vel. Victor is able to duck aside, but the daggers slip by Gil and Vel’s defenses.
Uther retreats and brings Elissa back to consciousness with his lay on hands. He then turns and fires a guiding bolt at Borea, which strikes her with holy energy.
Another one of the tunnelers hurls daggers at Vel, Victor, and Gil, and another harp begins to rake her claws at the hanging prisons, and the cage too begins to falter.
Victor moves to the kobold geomancer and strikes, knocking the kobold’s staff out of his hands. He then attempts to intimidate the geomancer with his blade to the creature’s throat.
Victor Prestor says: Call your kobold’s down. NOW.
Vel whips out her wand of arcane missile and fires a 6th level arcane missile at Borea. The missiles follow her around, striking her as she flies around. Borea is not looking very good.
However, the cage above Vel shatters and falls, and she is unable to avoid it as it crumbles down. The ice beneath them starts to crack.
Seria changes into a dragonhawk and then she soars after Borea. She strikes at her with her beak, but the harpy dodges as Seria flies by.
Another one of the tunnelers attacks Uther with his dagger.
The other harpy goes for the prison her sister is working on, and as it hits the ground, the ice cracks expand.
Remnii runs to get to a more centralized location and uses her channel divinity, healing Victor, Gil, and Vel.
Esara flips around one of the kobold tunnelers and flings a firebolt up at one of the harpies. She drops her out of the air as her feathers single, plummeting to ground and smashing into the earth--leaving it dead.
Victor continues to intimidate the geomancer, and the geomancer swallows.
Kobold Geomancer says: Everyone! Stand down!
The kobolds take stock of the situation and begin to back off.
Borea shrieks: You would DARE betray your mistress? YOU WILL ALL FREEZE.
The remaining harpies begin to rake at the last cage, and it starts to shudder. However, Vel steps around and fires a chromatic orb at Borea, blue fire arcing off her hands. For a second, it looks like the chromatic orb missed, but Vel pushes the spell, her eyes flaring to life, and the chromatic orb connects, dropping Borea to the ground, dead.
The remaining harpies start trying to flee now that the kobolds are turning on them and their leader is dead, but Seria attempts to nab one of the fleeing ones, digging her beak into her.
Remnii heals Victor and then starts to retreat off the cracking ice.
One of the harpies successfully flees.
Esara runs off the ice and shoots a firebolt at the harpy that Seria had attacked, and she successfully blasts it out of the air.
Elissa stands up and staggers out of the area of cracking ice.
Gil uses zepyhr strike and moves out of the area of ice. He then shoots the last harpy, and he shoots her out of the air, and it strikes the ground, dead. He pulls the body off the cracking ice.
The ice then crumbles, opening up, and Vel manages to leap back and Esara grabs her. The kobolds are looking at the group, clearly scared.
The geomancer moves forward, and one of the other kobolds gives him his staff.
Kobold Geomancer says: Is everyone alright?
The kobolds all nod, and a tunneler confirms the taskmaster is alright.
Kobold Geomancer says: Oh great soft ones, you have my sincerest apologies. The mistresses’ hospitality was so… please forgive us.
He bows his head deeply.
Remnii says: I am simply sorry it had to end like it did.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I trust we’ll be able to leave without further problems?
Kobold Geomancer says: Yes, yes, a thousand sorries. When the mistresses command, we must obey… but the Mistress…
He looks at the harpy matron.
Kobold Geomancer says: We had no wish to fight, merely protect our homes.
Remnii says: Perhaps you’ll have the chance to do that for yourself now.
Wary Kobold Tunneler says: Sir Geomancer, one of the harpies escaped. She will likely find the others.
Frantic Kobold Tunneler yells: Come back in larger numbers! Punish us they will!
Kobold Geomancer says: Then find a way to survive, we shall. We have survived this long. These tunnels are our home, but we are not alone. There may be other places we can go. Evade the wrath of the others that may wish to claim vengeance against us.
Uncertain Kobold says: How will we get candle!?
Kobold Geomancer says: I do not know, but we will find another way.
Innovative Kobold says: We try trade? City spikies have candles! Maybe trade?
Kobold Geomancer says: Perhaps. But in the meantime, softies have our gratitude for their mercy. If there is anything we can provide you on your journey, the softies need only ask, and we will help as we can.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Vel, why don’t you and Victor see if they saw anything else. I have some digging to do.
Gil goes to look for Ara’shel’s scale, and he spots it, about 30 feet down below the water. He is able to retrieve it. It’s quite large.
Vel is looking at the harpy bodies and she asks Esara if she had ever seen creatures likes them before. Esara confirms she hasn’t, and Vel asks her if she would be willing to open a teleportation circle to Dalaran, as the Kirin Tor would likely be equally interested in them. Esara agrees this is a fantastic idea, and Vel uses her sending stone to contact Rhonin.
Rhonin is rather surprised by the context of the request, and he agrees to open the teleportation circle, though he says he expects an explanation later.
Esara opens up the teleportation circle so that they can push Borea and another mostly intact harpy through, and Remnii approaches the kobold Geomancer.
Remnii says: Again, my condolences for one way of life lost, I suppose. Do you have any injured?
Kobold Geomancer says: It appears the injuries have been somewhat minor. We will survive. Thank you, soft one.
Remnii says: in that case, I will save my healing. But as you are adjusting and reinforcing yourself, know that most important is the candle you all carry together as a people. If that helps at all. If you all do not lose faith, you will certainly find another way.
The geomancer nods.
Kobold Geomancer says: You are wise, softie. Your words make my fears less. Though I am old, I am sure our people will survive. We have for a long time. I do not know if it will help you on your journey, but two things of wisdom I will impart. First, the Mistress lied not when she spoke of the rivers. Deep ancient places connect to waters far off. It is how we live as well. We do not know if the waters will connect to wear your destiny lead you, but use caution if you descend, the waters are cold, and the creatures that dwell in the deepest parts of the world are dangerous. Steer clear of the center of the world. Secondly, the harpies’ nest contained their most precious valuables. Should you and your companions need them, you may have them. They fought you, thus they are yours by right of conquest. We are not conquerors. We take only what we find.
Remnii says: Thank you very much, elder. One more question for you. Have you noticed any spikey activity about these caves? My companions are true. We are in search of a lost loved one, one very important, and some of these spikies may have had a hand in his disappearance.
Kobold Geomancer says: Many spikies come here. These spikies have no friends. We know little of these spikies, but they are violent. Swing their spikey steel swift and quickly. That is why we know they not softies. Rare are the spikies that venture this far. We are far from where spikies live. But. These mountains are deep, and tunnels vast. Wise are the spikies that avoid the mistresses and the dangers of these caves. If spikies you seek, spikies you will likely find. Other spikies too pluck metal from the earth.
Remnii says: In that case, thank you for your time, and good luck with everything.
Kobold Geomancer says: May the softies find what they seek.
Vel goes to start harvesting the remaining harpy bodies, while Gil and Remnii start to climb into the harpy nests. Seria helps them up.
The smell in the nests is horrible, and as Remnii pokes around, she finds a dark, translucent gemstone with golden flecks in it. Gil is cleaning stuff as it is produced. They continue to find more and more gemstones.
Remnii is amazed at the sight of the gemstones, and she expresses they are very, very valuable.
They also find a statuette made by the kobolds, and they also find priestly vestments with actual gold trim. There is also a black velvet mask with silver thread.
Remnii says: Let us get all these things out of… here…
Gil stashes it all in his bag of holding, using prestidigitation to clean it as he does.
Meanwhile, Vel is harvesting the harpies. The creatures appear to be mostly humanoid. Their feathers look like they are pretty valuable, and judging from the enchanting nature of their voices she suspects that their vocal chords are also magical in nature.
Vel is able to harvest two pouches of harpy feathers and two sets of harpy vocal chords. Judging from the nests, it’s likely that the creatures lay eggs, but there are no eggs around. The feathers would make good quills. As she finishes, Vel shoves the bodies into the water so that creatures could prey on them away from the kobolds and decay naturally.
The group starts to discuss their plan, and it’s presented to go back and ask the kobolds if there are tunnels that connect into the mines. They all agree, and head back to the kobold living areas.
Remnii is directed up to the hovel where the geomancer is located, and she crawls into the abode. It’s very, very small.
Kobold Geomancer says: You have come back, softie!
Remnii says: I have a question for you. We are obviously unfamiliar with these tunnels. We were curious if you knew of any that lead closer to the pointy town.
Kobold Geomancer says: Ah, yes. It is not far. Far enough to be safe, but close enough to be wary. These tunnels connect to it, this is true.
Remnii says: Would we be able to ask for some degree of assistance in leading us back to the town?
Kobold Geomancer says: Hmmm. Many of the deep places near town are full of spikies that peel metal from the earth. Unless you go after they are done, it is dangerous to go near.
Remnii says: I happen to know that the spikies’ work is done for the day. This passage should be safe for you and yours. I cannot say for tomorrow, but until the sun comes up.
Kobold Geomancer says: I see. Very well. We shall help you, for you have shown us that there is another way. Perhaps the treasures of the earth can be traded with the spikies, so we will guide you back. Tonk will do so. He was the scout you first encountered. He is eager and headstrong, but he will show you the way.
Remnii says: Thank you again, elder.
Kobold Geomancer says: And thank you, softie.
Remnii says: May your candles keep burning.
Kobold Geomancer says: Yours as well.
He smiles up at her, and Remnii smiles back and then heads back to the group.
Remnii says: I have procured us a guide.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Excellent. The quicker we start moving, likely the better.
Before long, a kobold approaches, and they recognize it is the kobold lookout from the snow pile.
Tonk says: Softies!
He waves and comes skittering up to them.
Tonk says: Tonk was told to guide you to the spikies’ mines, yes?
Remnii says: That would be, yes.
Tonk says: Yes yes. Thank for not crushing Tonk and Tonk’s friends. Without Mistress it will be hard to defend, but Tonk is mighty warrior and has no fear. Besides, perhaps Tonk prove self strong, and eventually become overseer. When softies want to go?
They are ready to go.
Tonk says: Good. Stay close, softies. Too big to take good tunnels. We have to take bad tunnels. Come come. Carry things. Tunnels are dangerous, bad tunnels very so.
Tonk lights his candle and starts to lead the way, with his shortsword drawn. Eventually the iceblown caverns give way to the end of a few abandoned mine shafts. There is some old, broken equipment around, and soon enough they enter into a fenced off area.
Uther Menethil says: You know, I think this was where I was doing my mining during my short stint as a miner.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Good. So that means the map is relevant now.
Tonk says: Is that map made by spikies?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes.
Tonk says: Mm. Bad map.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Would you like to correct it?
Tonk says: Mmm. Give here.
Vel provides the map, and he looks at it.
Tonk says: This map is bad. Spikies so bad at digging holes at ground. They dangerous and will fall if not careful.
Victor Prestor says: I think that’s why they build the scaffolding?
Tonk says: No talking! Spikies not know anything about holes in ground.
He looks at the map and gets a piece of charcoal then begins to doodle across and then hands it back. He has circled one of the exits.
Tonk says: These ones lead out, these one lead in. When Tonk was young he scouted much. Got in much trouble. Wanted to impress lady kobold. Not work. Me still trying. These ones lead to places with more unsafe spikey tunnels. Those ones lead out, through mountains. Deep underground. Deep deep.
He points to the exit he had circled, and indicates that that is the one that would likely lead them back into the city and, therefore, toward Gorgonne’s manor.
Tonk says: You need Tonk further? Tonk not want to go into spikey tunnels.
Velameestra Windrunner says: No. Your help is appreciated.
Tonk says: You meet in lady kobolds you tell them Tonk helped. If you come back, see how great Tonk has become. You not find him. Not even nicest pleas will coax him from snowdrift. You wait.
He waves them off and then skitters down the tunnel.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Victor, you saw an opportunity there.
Victor Prestor says: I know, unfortunately they are trying to open relations with a man who may be a traitor. But, clearly these kobolds are gifted with drawing ores from the ground.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: They were very focused on candles.
Victor Prestor says: Yes. I do not know if there is an esteemed candlemaker in Grayfold, but there may be some openings in the future.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Perhaps they can teach your people to mine. Apparently you’re bad at it.
Gil had used primeval awareness to sense demons, and one of them is closer than the others. It’s within a half mile easily. The others are a bit further.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Well, looks like we’re on the right track.
Victor Prestor says: Yes, seeing you apparently did a good job of clearing our way.
The twins respond at the same time.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: I don’t know why you would think that.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Convenient fun that was.
Victor Prestor says: … Right. Lead the way.
They head in and cross into the chamber that has the tracks along it, Gil, Vel, and Seria’s ears catch the sound of speaking echoing from down the mine. It’s heading in the direction of the entrance.
Gruff Guard says: I’m telling you, the mines aren’t haunted. The foreman has a few too many swigs.
Unsure Guard says: I dunno, there was that cave in. I dunno if I want to discount it.
Gruff Guard says: Eh. A bunch of rubbish. And I think it’s a right piece of shite the miners have the rest of the day off and we have to patrol. And what is this going to do if we find them.
Unsure Guard says: Stab them with it?
Gruff Guard says: Can you stab a ghost?
There is some discussion about if they should try to scare the patrols off. Seria makes the sound of wind, and Gil helps, and Esara makes the form of a luminescent man with dancing lights.
And Remnii blinks invisible.
There are guards that turn the corner, and Esara giggles and sends the luminescent man run across the way. Where the ghostly individual is, Remnii uses thaumaturgy to make weeping sounds and guttural orcish and draenic. And then the guards’ torches go out.
One of the guards scream and a torch clatters to the ground.
Startled Guard says: I’m getting out of here!
One of the guards flees, but the others stand their ground. Seria lights the torch that went out while Gil extinguishes the other ones.
Frightened Guard yells: OH YEAH, FUCK THIS. WAIT FOR US.
The other guards book it.
Victor Prestor says: Well, that was comical, but we should go before they come back with reinforcements.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Oh, I agree.
The group quickly makes their way across the main section of the mines and continue onwards into the abandoned mines. In time, they hear skittering from cave critters as they flee. The group passes the warning signs, and they start to see the abandoned scaffolding and empty torch holders.
Eventually, they come to a large mining segment. They get the smell of sulfur, and as they look at the ceiling, they can smell dampness. The ceiling, walls, and all the old mining equipment is covered in mold.
Remnii’s nostrils start to clog up because she’s allergic.
Gil is familiar with the mold. It’s a rare kind of mold that often occurs in deep, dank places, especially places that are unclean or generally untouched by most things. As he looks around, he sees the skeletal remains of a bat, which indicates it is dangerous. This mold and similar ones are poisonous if the spores are breathed in.
The entire chamber is covered in a severe manner, but the mold is very susceptible to sunlight and fire.
If the mold is touched, it ejects spores.
Gil stops everyone, warning them against it.
Esara and Uther begin to firebolt a path through, and others use torches and Gil uses control flames. They pass by one of the old mine entrances which are largely closed down. Eventually they find themselves to the edge of the abandoned mines.
As they enter the area, something catches their ears. There are light footfalls skittering across stone, and what sounds like panting. It doesn’t sound human, and the pattering sounds quadrupedal. It sounds more like hooves.
Remnii says: Hooves.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: What would be panting in a cave with hooves?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Demons.
Remnii can’t think of any demons off the top of her head.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Could be felhunters.
Gil takes a moment for the primeval awareness, and he senses the demon signature nearly right on top of them.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Yeah. Quite possibly a demon.
Victor Prestor says: Well, do we go in guns blazing, or what? It seems we found our cultists.
They discuss a plan, and they opt to try and jump on whatever the creature is. Gil casts pass without trace, and they are able to get pretty close and get sight of the creature before anyone notices them. The passage opens and they see a small camp with a group of seven humans. Sitting down on a chair are three thugs that are playing a card game, there is another one that is keeping a careful eye out leaning against a pillar. There is an exit on the far way, which is more of a man-made tunnel. There are two rogues at another table with a bottle and a knife. They are playing five finger fillet, and not far away is a woman with dark violet robes. She flicks a hand, and there is a magical flick of her hand, and she is playing with a felhunter using dancing lights.
And then the felhunter stops, and its eyeless face looks in the direction of the group, and its tentacles flare up.
Gil takes aim at the warlock.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Victor, you need to take care of the demon hound. It siphons magic, and you’re the only non-mage here.
Victor Prestor says: O-oh. Got it.
Gil fires at the warlock.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: And just who the hell are all of you?
Syndicate Thug says: Who the hell cares? This is a restricted area and they need to die.
The felhound rears up to charge, but the warlock calls it back to her side. The syndicate assassin fires some crossbow bolts into Seria.
Remnii casts spirit guardians, and then scoots forward a little bit, sticking the spirit guardians between the party and the enemies.
The warlock squints at Remnii, and Remnii makes curious eye contact, and there’s a hint of a grin.
One of the bruisers enters the area, and he immediately staggers back but presses through.
Elissa follows Remnii, and she uses bless. The rogue runs up, but doesn’t enter the spirit guardians. She pulls out a pistol and takes a shot at Remnii, and then hides behind a pillar. Victor also runs forward to back up Remnii, and attacks the thug that engaged with her. He immediately drops the thug.
Vel conjures a frost nova and drops it on the group, killing several of them as she manages to clip the entire group. She is able to resist the cold snap trigger.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: Oh boy, these people are no joke. I’m going to get reinforcements.
The warlock starts to flee, with the felhunter, who she had called Tenny, intending on following.
Seria turns into a tiger and lopes at the Syndicate captain, but the woman is able to parry it aside. Uther follows suit, casting a firebolt at the felhound, but the beast dodges out of the way.
Esara activates bladesong, and she takes two fingers and runs it along the edge of her sword. An orb of scorching fire shoots through the air as she uses pyrotechnics. It lands right next to the Syndicate rogue and explodes in a fireworks display, blinding one of them.
Gil zephyr strikes to pursue the warlock, and shadowy magics begin to form around the woman’s hand. However, she’s not looking at Gil, she’s looking at the two rogues behind the rock. The woman glances at Gil and offers a smirk for a moment.
Instead, Gil shoots one of the assassins.
Syndicate Rogue yells: Can’t you do something about this?!
The rogue is looking at the warlock.
Syndicate Rogue yells: Bugger this.
She dashes past the warlock, however, as she does, the warlock makes an attack of opportunity. The shadowy magics follow the rogue, and ripple, then combust. The rogue turns around.
Syndicate Rogue yells: Oh. You got to be kidding me. You want to die?
Dark-Haired Warlock says: Not particularly.
The rogue continues running down the hall.
Esara darts at the Syndicate captain, but the captain parries one of her blows. Seria also rakes across the captain with her claws.
Elissa runs for the felhound and attacks.
However, crackling energy manifests in the warlock’s hand, and she flings it after the rogue. It explodes, killing the rogue.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: Tenny. Finish the others off.
She’s indicating the other Syndicate members.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Elissa, let the hound go.
Elissa Cross says: What?!
Vel runs up to pursue the warlock, but Esara points out the warlock had seemingly turned on her allies. Vel looks at Esara, at Gil, and then back at the warlock before sighing and hurling a frostbolt at the Syndicate captain. Cold snap bursts free, and an icy storm begins to whirl around her.
The felhound leaps on the other rogue, ripping her throat out.
The Syndicate captain is nearly dropped by Vel’s frostbolt, and her movements are slowed, and she hastily throws her arms up in surrender, at which point she is bound.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: Anyways. You don’t need those weapons anymore. I’m not a threat.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: You certainly are.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: I suppose that’s what I should expect from… and this is a shot in the dark, Gilveradin Windrunner, yes? And I assume the one in the snowstorm is Velameestra?
Vel shuts down the snowstorm.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: You’re smart and right to mistrust me, I was helping your enemies until just a moment ago.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: That, and that.
He points his arrow at the felhunter.
Dark-Haired Warlock says: Oh, don’t worry about Tennyson. He listens to me. I’m not about to pick a fight with eight powerful strangers. Or, well, three powerful strangers. You are Victor, prince of Alterac. You are Uther, prince of Lordaeron, and you are Remnii, the glass priestess. My name is Kira Iresoul. We have mutual goals we can discuss here, yes, without loosing more devastatingly accurate arrows.
She walks around and sits down in a chair. Kira advises the group to slit the Syndicate captain’s throat, and Gil suggests shipping her to Dalaran, but Vel is unwilling to send a live criminal through her manor and Esara doesn’t know any other circles in Dalaran. Esara also presents that, seeing the Syndicate isn't Dalaran's problem, most likely she would just be sent back to Alterac, and then her fellows would likely spring her free. Gil takes the equipment off the captain.
Kira smiles at the group.
Kira Iresoul says: I would offer you some refreshments, but, well.
Remnii sits as well and smooths her skirt.
Remnii says: Sorry to be curt, I did not expect to hear insults Gul’dan throws around.
Kira Iresoul says: I do not know that name. Some elaboration.
Remnii says: I will when your companions join the circle.
Kira is running her hand through the fellhound’s tentacles.
Kira Iresoul says: Right. Well. My name is Kira. I’m an independent researcher, you could say. Yes, I was up until about three minutes ago a member of the Argus Wake, but I didn’t join because of any loyalty or curious goals they seem to be enacting. I joined because it was convenient, and because I was curious. I learned a lot of things, things I’m willing to share. If you’re wondering about any loyalty, my actions here should prove I have no love of them. So would you like to ask the questions, or should I start talking?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Talking would be a good starting point.
Kira Iresoul says: Very well.
Syndicate Captain says: I wouldn’t trust a thing she says. These mage types only look out for their own personal interests.
Kira Iresoul says: They’re not wrong. I’m looking out for my interests. My research and my life.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: And what are you researching?
Kira Iresoul says: What do you think? I’m petting a felhunter.
Remnii says: A wide topic of study.
Kira Iresoul says: Indeed, and I’ve learned a great deal. Unfortunately, the Argus Wake is a bit heavy handed, and what they are doing is only going to draw attention to things I’m doing. Manipulating the energy of fel magic, and bending it to your will. I’m learning how to control it. Not lose myself to this cult, like so many others. There’s power to be had, and I intend on having it.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And what do you intend to do once you get it?
Kira Iresoul says: That’s a question. Perhaps use it for myself. Perhaps get more.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: You’re pushing chaos through your body and hoping nothing will happen.
Kira Iresoul says: I’m manipulating it, but I’m not a fool. I’ve been doing this longer than you’ve been able to feed yourself. But semantics aside, I’m asking for your assistance. I can tell you about the members of the Argus Wake, and those inside Gorgonne’s manor. I’m assuming that’s what you’re after? Judging by the fact you came in here bows blazing. Impressive, by the way. You should be able to handle anything they can throw at you, and I’d be willing to help you. The Argus Wake has a small detachment. There are five other warlocks, and a number of Syndicate members. I assume you’re trying to capture someone or find something?
Velameestra Windrunner says: We’re looking for information on Syndicate dealings, specifically.
Kira Iresoul says: Well, you came to a good place. There is a high ranking Syndicate boss, as well as a ranking member of the Argus Wake who is here to convince him of the mutually beneficial partnership. The Argus Wake is intending to sow chaos, I assume to get weakness or get a stronghold for the coming war.
Remnii says: A common tactic.
Kira Iresoul says: I assumed as much. I’m not playing politics, so I want to make my clean break.
Remnii says: The more you play with the fel, the more you play politics with the Legion.
Kira Iresoul says: Oh, I have no doubt, but I don’t intend on playing politics with human kingdoms. That’s not my type of politics. And so I offer you a trade. I will assist you in capturing this Syndicate boss, if you assist me in eliminating the warlock in charge of the Argus Wake cult. She has an artifact in her possession. A bloodstone orb. It allows the user to impose their will on demons. Something you don’t want the Argus Wake to carry. If I can have your word that you will allow me to leave unharmed with this artifact, I will assist you and send you on your merry way. Much of the information I have gathered will be yours. The warlocks, all five of them, have imp familiars. They can turn invisible and they make good scouts. One of them is high ranking and adept at binding demons to his will. Two brutes, large creatures called felguards, remain under his control. The last is the leader, and if you agree to assist me, I’ll tell you more about her as well, and the demons under her command. She’s trying to convince the boss to join this fold. It seems to have been a lengthy process. He seems to be less inclined to trust someone like her. Oh, what does she mean? Clearly, she should be trustworthy.
Velameestra Windrunner says: You expect us to trust someone that admitted she is pursuing power for the sake of power?
Kira Iresoul says: I did admit that, didn’t I?
The group breaks away to discuss in private, and Vel quickly makes it clear that she does not like the idea of giving Kira the bloodstone at all, citing that given she is so eager to turn on the Argus Wake now, it was only a matter of time before someone stronger than them gives her an appealing offer and she would just as readily turn on the party as well. She, personally, is more inclined to destroy the bloodstone so that neither the Argus Wake nor Kira have it, which she also vocalizes to Kira.
Victor and Seria are in agreement, though the rest of the group is more inclined to make the deal to get the information and aid that Kira had offered--sans Uther, who had been sitting in deep contemplation as the discussion continued.
Remnii then looks back toward the warlock, addressing her directly again.
Remnii says: While I’m curious what is known off of Draenor, this is my counter offer as opposed to the bloodstone. Everything I’ve seen, everything I know, and whatever you will ask in turn. You know of the hierarchies of the Legion?
Kira Iresoul says: I don’t. Not all, at least. I know a decent number about demons and how they operate, and I would be curious to learn that.
Remnii says: I wish to respect my companion’s wishes. And this is my offer.
Kira Iresoul says: I would be very interested. But if you can convince your companions to deliver the bloodstone, we can all be friends, and not just you and I. You seem a very persuasive sort.
Remnii says: It was worth a try.
Kira Iresoul says: You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trusting me with this. I have yet to lie to you about anything I’ve said. I’m sure you don’t trust me, but I haven’t, for what it’s worth. Also destroying the bloodstone is a complicated process. It’s created with the blood of demons, and destroying it normally requires a similar process. Demon blood is alive and doesn’t like being tampered with. Just a warning.
