Samuro was one of the most gifted blademasters of the Burning Blade clan, and was one of the last practitioner of their old ways, before they succumbed to the fel taint that twisted their honor. After becoming a blademaster, he only suffered defeat twice - once at the hands of Azuka Bladefury, and a second time at the hands of his grandson, Arthak, who gave the ailing warrior a fitting death.

Appearance

Personality

Samuro was cheeky, witty, and wise. Prone to telling parables and spouting proverbs, he took great pleasure in dancing around subjects rather than giving straight answers, as it allowed one to come to their own conclusions, which he saw as more satisfying and informative. He clung to tradition and honor, and abhored those who spat in the face of it. Though slow to anger, he was easily annoyed by foolishness and one's refusal to learn from their mistakes.

Biography

Samuro was originally a member of the Burning Blade clan, but came to a disagreement with the warlord at the time, Dharl, when the clan leader pushed in support of the entirety of the clan becoming fel orcs. He and his second, Lantresor, challenged Dharl and ended his reign, but were forced to flee when Dharl's daughter, Azuka Bladefury, was able to seize control of the clan before Samuro could strengthen his hold.

When he left, he unfortunately left his grandson, Arthak Saurfang behind.

Reunion

At some point, Samuro and Lantresor had found their way to a protected grove at the peak of a mountain located near Tempest Keep, where they had remained in hiding. Arthak eventually happened upon them when he ventured into the mountain in pursuit of a place of purity to help heal the fel corruption that had taken hold. Samuro and Lantresor both guided Arthak and his companion, Kaylaan, in the art of the blade and they spent several weeks in training on the mountain before they delved into the depths to confront a magnaron. They succeeded in killing the beast, but in the process, the protected grove seemed to begin to wilt.

Death

Soon after, Samuro approached Arthak and explained that there was a tradition to become a full member of the Burning Blade that he had never taught his grandson as he had not been ready. Now was the time to do so. They would duel to the first blood, though Samuro expressed that "that would be enough."

Ultimately, it was intended to be a duel to the death.

Arthak came out victorious, and he was able to offer his grandfather an honorable warrior's end, as the venerable orc had slowly been dying of sickness and age. The last gift that Samuro gave his grandson was a banner that displayed a symbol of a broken blade being reforged over an anvil - the mark of of the Broken Blade clan, which Arthak was now chieftain of.
