Friar Uther was formerly known by an unknown name, but ultimately took the name of Uther the Lightbringer in an act of penance due to the guilt he felt following his death. Since that day, he has served as a friar and steward of Uther's tomb outside Andorhal.

Description

In his years as a friar, Uther became a humble, unassuming man. He shaved his head and largely dressed in simple brown robes with a symbol of the Holy Light worn around his neck. However, he had thickly calloused, worn hands and a network of scars across his face that hinted at the rough life he once lived.

He was polite and dedicated to his charge, though he bore the burden of guilt heavy on his heart. It was only after he came face to face with the spirit of Uther the Lightbringer, and received forgiveness from Uther Menethil, that he started to take the first steps in forgiving himself for what he had done.

Biography

In his youth, before friar Uther took up the name of Uther, he was part of the group of bandits that happened to hit the caravan that had been accompanied by Uther the Lightbringer. By sheer luck, he was the one that accidentally landed the killing blow on the legendary paladin, but soon after he was overwhelmed by the guilt of the act and left his life of banditry behind.

He instead became a friar and took on the mantle of tending to Uther the Lightbringer's tomb and upholding the tenets the man represented in an act of penance for what he had done. He was responsible for the statue of the named saint that eventually would come to watch over the tomb.
