Arcane Wraiths
Arcane Wraiths are beings that first appeared following the warping and destruction of Falthrien Academy by the high elf Felendren. They resemble shades but are made entirely of mana.
Biology
Arcane wraiths are elemental creatures whose bodies are made up of living mana. As a result, they are drawn to sources of mana and feed upon it, able to sap it from mages and other magical sources.
While not entirely proven, it's believed that arcane wraiths can also be created from living people if they are exposed to tremendous quantities of mana, such as a massive arcane explosion, as many students at Falthrien Academy were unaccounted for and these creatures seemed to appear in their stead.
