"With the first hammer fall, rivers of magma spilled from the icy mountains. With the second, the sky howled and lightning set the heavens aflame. With the third, a single ray of sunlight pierced the storm clouds and whispered over Truthguard's surface."

The titanic watchers Tyr and Archaedas created this shield in a time of dire need, and entrusted it to a mortal vrykul champion to aid them. Armed with Truthguard, this hero stood against the forces of darkness, protecting an ancient platinum disk embedded in the center of the shield. Though Tyr fell in combat, the mortal survived, eventually migrated to Stormheim in the Broken Isles. Though the shield was entombed in in the Path of Kings, Morchuron liberated the shield along with several other artifacts to aid in her misbegotten quest.

Properties

Bastion of Truth. You gain a +1 bonus to AC for every two allies within 5 feet of you (up to a maximum of +3) while you wield this shield. If you are a Paladin, you instead gain this bonus for every ally within the radius of your Aura.
Eye of Tyr. The upper portion of Truthguard has a mystical setting referred to as the Eye of Tyr built into it. This device serves two purposes:
Platinum Bulwark. The Eye of Tyr can house a Platinum Disc within it. While inside Truthguard, the Platinum Disc is indestructible. As an Action, a creature attuned to Truthguard can insert or remove a Platinum Disc from Truthguard. Though not a true disc reader, the Eye of Tyr can be used to interface with basic information about the Platinum Disc within it.
While a disc is loaded in it, Truthguard has a number of charges based on the installed disc, which can be used to cast certain spells, each of which costs a number of charges equal to the spell's level. Truthguard regains all of these charges daily at dawn.
The Platinum Disc currently in Truthguard grants it 5 charges, which can be used to cast the following spells: borrowed knowledge (Athletics, Arcana, History), commune, divination, enhance ability (Strength, Intelligence, Charisma), legend lore
Truthguard's Light. The Eye of Tyr also enhances magic passed through it to reveal the true state of things before it. While the shield is under the effects of a spell like elemental shield, holy shield, or shield of faith, it emits bright light in a 30-foot cone in the direction it is pointing. Alternatively, a creature can use an Action to charge Truthguard with Arcane or Holy magic, activating this light for 1 minute for every 2 mana spent in this way. This light dispels magical darkness, reveals invisible creatures and those on the Ethereal plane, and automatically detects visual illusions. It also reveals the true form of shapechangers, creatures transformed with magic, or creatures who are possessed or controlled by a ghost, parasite, or other creature.
Unrelenting Light. While attuned to Truthguard, when you roll a 1 on a damage die of holy damage or when casting a healing spell, you may reroll the die and take the new result. Additionally, you are resistant to holy and shadow damage.
Truthbearer. While attuned to the shield, you gain proficiency in Insight. If you are already proficiency, you gain expertise instead. However, if you willingly tell a lie while attuned to this item, you immediately take 4d10 psychic damage and lose your attunement to the shield.
