Draconic

Draconic is a language developed and spoken by the dragons of Azeroth and their aspects. It is a language often used in magic incantations.

Grammar Rules

Singular and Plural

Almost any noun in draconic can be made plural by simply affixing an -i to the end of the word as is the case for arux (valley) into aruxi (valleys). However, in the event the noun ends in an -i the suffix is instead changed to -ri. Thus vaeri (dance) would become vaeriri (dances).

Possessives

Draconic does not have a word for "my" or "mine" and instead a series of prefixes is used to define possession depending upon the exact meaning.

Prefix Meaning
Veth- or Vethi- An object that belongs to the speaker
Er- or Ethe- A relationship that is directly connected to the speaker, such as a friend or a loved one
Ar- or Ari- All other forms of possession

Thus, the following phrases would be translated as such:

When wanting to show the possession by another, the name of the possessor is then combined with the object the possessor owns to create a single word that starts with ar- or ari-.

Modifying Nouns

Adjectives and other words that modify nouns are placed before and after the specific noun they happen to modify. The most important modifier is always placed before the noun, and it may also be placed after the noun as well if additional emphasis is wanted.

For instance, if a speaker wished to say that a big, black, evil dragon was approaching, and they wanted to ensure the "evil" portion was emphasized, it would appear as follows:
