Seria started to dart around as Velhari opened several portals from which chains erupted. The druid was able to evade the chains, but Velhari wriggled her arm free and swung her blade at the transformed half-troll. Velhari was able to break free of Seria and reversed the grapple so she was instead climbing on Seria’s back.
Arthak continued to focus on Skovald as he slammed his fist into Skovald’s face. The god-king staggered, his nose broken, but his eye flared.
Skovald held out a hand toward the dragon, who roared in pain as his life essence was drawn into Skovald. He started to laugh as Arthak swung down at him again, but he blocked the strike. Arthak pushed through his guard, and Skovald was forced to step back as Arthak overpowered him.
Jubei’thos, however, commented about Arthak turning his back on his foes as he then unleashed a flurry of blows. Arthak was able to redirect one of them to Skovald as the attack went wide, and he called for Zar’Kaa to take an opening that the deception provided. He drove his spear into Skovald’s shoulder and slammed into the vrykul with an explosion of fel magic. Skovald was slammed face-first into the ground.
Nyxxa continued to focus on Caria with another flurry of blows that drove the traitorous demon hunter back.
Arthak swept his sword at Skovald again, and the god-king was forced to catch the blade with his hand. Arthak felt him shudder as his bones started to crack. Zar’Kaa took the opening again and was able to thrust forward with his spear. It went right through the god-king’s gut, and he coughed up bright green blood as his eye glowed with wrath and hate. However, he was just barely conscious. With another strike, Zar’Kaa drove his spear into Skovald’s chest, and he leaned close.
He ripped his spear free, and with it came Skovald’s soul as he cursed the god-king into becoming an accursed specter.
Arthak glimpsed Jubei’thos’s form start to waver, but Arthak released a wave of fire to interrupt the blademaster before he could turn invisible.
Zar’Kaa tried to command Skovald to attack Jubei’thos, but there was resistance.
He prevented himself from attacking the fel orc.
Varedis flipped his blade around, and he knocked Nyxxa back. She was sent sprawling across the ground, and he pursued. He then released another burst of swords, but Nyxxa was able to spin on her back and jump back to her hooves as Lantresor flipped in tandem. They landed together.
Caria grinned, and she unfurled her wings as she conjured a beam of fel energy.
She released a [Disintegrate], but Lantresor glanced back at Nyxxa, took stock of the situation, and he braced himself with his blade before him. He was able to deflect the disintegrate aside with an explosion of fel energy, and Caria snarled in rage as she dove at him with her glaives.
She swung again and again as Lantresor kept up against the assault. Her tattoos started to glow, and she looked at Varedis.
Varedis stepped back and brandished his blades. He tossed them into the air, and Caria perched on one of the blades. Her twin blades charged with magic, and as she started to jump into action, her fel bloodlust was ripped from her. She was overcome with a wave of fatigue.
Varedis disappeared and then began to rapidly reappear as he unleashed a flurry of slashes into Caria. She plummeted to the ground, her body covered in slash marks. Nyxxa had been given the true name of the demon that resided within Caria
Nyxxa looked at Caria and she held her hand out.
She pulled the soul right through Caria’s mouth. She consumed both Caria and the demon within her. Caria started to wail and scream in her mind, but Nyxxa silenced her as the twin glaives tumbled down, only to be caught by Varedis in his scabbard. He sheathed his own blade and lit a cigarette.
Iskar looked over, and he laughed. He looked over at Arthak with a twinkle in his eye, and he looked back at Symma.
Jubei’thos didn’t seem to care.
Lantresor looked over at Nyxxa.
Lantresor smiled.
Lantresor leaped into the air with his own momentum, and he slammed into the Shadow-Lord with his fullblade. Iskar squawked in surprise, as he had not been expecting the blademaster, who knocked the arakkoa from the sky as Lantresor landed back on the ground. Arthak called out to Lantresor, and the blademaster took another opportunity to slam his blade into the side of Iskar’s head.
Iskar used [Mirror Image] and then created an [Anti-Magic Shell] around him before he took back into the air.
Sol zoomed through the air out of range of Iskar’s counterspells and he used [Heal] on Arthak. Lightning crackled around Symma’s talons and sparked across the remaining opponents with a sudden burst of electricity. However, Iskar’s fel conduit drew the lightning to Arthak as well.
Iskar just laughed that their answer to the trap being to brute force it and outheal the damage as Symma threw a [Jolt] at Velhari.
Iskar released a flood of energy that pushed everyone around him away. Lantresor winced and his ears started to bleed along with the various cuts on his body. However, he braced himself against his blade.
Fathnyr reared back and opened his jaws, but appeared he was no longer picking targets. He was releasing the blast over everyone. Nyxxa, Zar’Kaa, Lantresor, Jubei’thos, and Zar’Kaa were able to duck for cover.
Skovald was consumed by the felstorm and disappeared. Iskar’s anti-magic shell also disappeared, but Arthak was also slammed with the fel conduit curse as more lightning launched at him.
Seria momentarily shifted out of her form, and then shifted back, which caused a burst of life magic to heal herself and Arthak. Fathnyr released an earth-shattering roar. Seria’s eyes flashed and she attempted to reach into the blood of the great dragon and stopped it. The roar of anger turned into a momentarily cry of anguish.
Varedis passed across the battlefield, picked up Skovald’s sword, and slipped it into his sheath.
Nyxxa made a beeline for Velhari and cleaved into her with her glaives, and with the aid of the poison, Velhari dropped with a gut-kick from Nyxxa’s hoof. Nyxxa flew the rest of the way to Jubei’thos, and she was able to tell which images were false. She purposely broke two of the mirror images.
Lantresor leaped after Iskar again, and he slashed. He broke a mirror image. He disappeared and struck from behind, which in turn shattered another mirror image. But then he appeared at Iskar’s side and used his pommel to drive the arakkoa into the ground.
He fell unconscious, and Lantresor landed beside him.
Arthak closed on Jubei’thos.
He closed his eyes, and exhaled. He slashed, cutting through the last mirror image, and then struck again and moved Jubei’thos into position. He sheathed the blade, exhaled again, and then took three steps and landed a perfect blow as he passed. Jubei’thos struck at him again as he passed, but his blade glanced off Arthak’s armor.
There was a moment’s pause, but then a blast of blood erupted from Jubei’those and he dropped to one knee.
He was angry, but he slumped over. Arthak caught Vethir’s eye and nodded, and he then rushed at Fathnyr, using the momentum to deal a devastating strike.
Fathnyr roared in anguish and rage.
Sol pulled out his pistol and lined it up with a [Shadow Strike]. As he fired, he also released a [Shadow Strike] with an additional blast of shadowy magic using his pistol as a focus to draw his own shadow into it. The blast seemed to deflect off Fathnyr scales, but then it hit his shadow, and he released an anguished roar as a hole was blown through the dragon’s shadow.
Arthak followed up with another strike of his own, but Fathnyr grabbed Arthak’s sword in his claw and tried to wrestle Arthak down to the ground. However, Zar’Kaa used Arthak as a launchpad to soar into the air and drive his spears into Fathnyr’s skull with a blast of fel magic. Fathnyr roared in pain and staggered as Zar’Kaa jumped back and landed on Arthak’s shoulder.
The great dragon slammed into the ground, the last of the opposition defeated.
Odyn looked at Varedis.
He raised his hand, and Odyn started to slow clap.
He stood up and walked down from his throne. The Aegis came to his hands.
There was a gleam in his eye.
The Aegis floated into the air and he held up his arm. The Aegis attached to his arm, and a bolt of lightning struck before him, revealing a brilliant spear.
The members of the other team, included Varedis, were sealed in a stasis. Zar’Kaa threw his spear at Odyn, but the spear went wide.
Odyn moved into the combat and he thrust down with his spear at Zar’Kaa. Zar’Kaa pushed through the intense radiance, and Odyn’s eye glimmered.
Seria flew at Odyn and evaded his spear as she surged in and bit into his arm, drawing some of his life force into her.
Seria bit into him again and managed to wrap her coils around him, but his eye gleamed and the damaged seemed to completely reverse.
Symma conjured up some healing winds and she looked at Odyn, and then at the statue of Freya.
Odyn held his hand up to the sky, and a spear of pure light came rocketing down on Lantresor. At the last second, Lantresor dove out of the way, and the spear impaled in the ground.
He swung his spear at Seria and clenched his fist. The spear next to Lantresor exploded, and the blademaster was trapped in a stasis field, being removed from combat. A single fragment of the spear was left glowing suspended in the air, and it rippled with magic.
Nyxxa closed on Odyn and managed to land a fearsome blow on the side of his head, but he swung his spear around and clipped her in the air.
Arthak ran for the glowing shard of spear, and as he passed, Symma released her healing magic across Arthak, Seria, and Nyxxa.
Arthak grabbed the shard and then whipped around and threw his javelin at Odyn, which successfully blinded him temporarily.
