December 26th

One of the Windblade bruisers saw Uther signalling for his mount and took a shot at him, but the shot went wide. The goblin then lit the fuse of an explosive with his cigarette and then hurled it. It made a forceful explosion that caused Uther’s ears to ring.

One of the outlaws at the back of the train shot at Luma. The shot broke one of the metallic bracers that Luma was braced again, and they almost tumbled off the train, but just barely held on.

The dragonspawn flametongue leaped onto the side of the train and climbed onto the roof.

Dragonspawn Flametongue says: Board the vessel! Take everything valuable and dispose of these interlopers!

Another dragonspawn rushed over toward Uther and breathed a blast of fire at him before firing off a shot. However, the gun jammed, and the dragonspawn snarled as it crawled up on the side of the train. The dragonspawn’s rider lit a stick of dynamite and threw it down between the cars.

The windblade lieutenant rushed forward and tried to jump up and grab on to the back of the train. However, Luma used [Temporal Shunt] as the woman grabbed Luma’s hand instead.

Liiraluma says: Mm. No.

The woman disappeared in a burst of golden sand.

A dragonspawn war mage also jumped onto the train and conjured a [Fireball] at the connective pieces of the train while its rider also threw a stick of dynamite down at it.

Vel called down Blanchy and leaped on her back as she conjured a [Sleet Storm] over several of the other riders. She then used [Vortex Warp] to rip the war mage off the train and hurl it into the midst of the sleet storm, where it promptly slipped and tumbled to the ground.

Another war mage teleported to Vel’s side and drove its pike into Blanchy’s side. He then attempted to use [Blur], but Vel countered the spell instead.

Anthea approached Uther’s side and used [Dimension Door] to teleport herself and Uther to the top of the cargo cart. Anthea then leaped onto her hippogryph.

Luma conjured a [Wall of Sand] in front the riders near the back of the train. The razor-sharp sand eviscerated one of the dragonspawn, which tumbled to the ground, while the others were slowed and thoroughly blinded.

One of the outlaws in the sleet storm managed to light a stick of dynamite and threw it, but it fell completely short and exploded on the ground. Another one shot at Uther, but they went completely wide as his pound slipped and tumbled to the ground. The dragonspawn struggled back to its feet to keep up with the train, but could not escape the sleet storm.

One of the bruisers in the back leaped onto the back of the train and knocked Luma off their hooves. The bruiser slammed his weapon into Luma, and they broke through the railing and slammed into the ground. The bruiser laughed as Luma was left in the dust.

Uther looked around at the bandits.

Uther Menethil says: Hello there, strangers. I don’t reckon you’d be willing to settle this with some discussion instead of wanton violence? Before you answer, think carefully. I’m not one for violence, but my associate here.

He patted Anthea’s shoulder as he used [Warding Bond] on her and then also imbued her with the power of the Light.

Uther Menethil says: Think carefully now!

He whistled and mounted Radiant as he landed. The bandits looked up at them for a moment.

Goblin Bruiser says: Ya gotta be kidding me?

The dragonspawn roared, but the people appeared to be somewhat flabbergasted he was trying to get them to stand down.

Another dragonspawn and their rider slipped in the sleet storm and tried to scramble back to his feet.

Gil hexed the dragonspawn war mage and then fired his bow at it. The force of the shot sent the dragonspawn war mage and its rider off the side of the train, and they tumbled to the ground. He then fired at the dragonspawn that was close to escaping the sleet storm.

The Windblade boss looked at Uther.

Windblade Boss says: Got a death wish boy? Happy to oblige!

She fired, but the shot tinged harmlessly off his transmuted armor.

Blanchy charged forward and leaped onto the next car where Vel slashed into the nearest bruiser and then tried to [Vortex Warp] the Windblade boss, who just narrowly managed to resist with a panic.

Windblade Boss shouts: Get her! GET HER!

The dragonspawn flametongue released an explosion of fire over the group, but they were all able to dodge out of the way.

The outlaw closest to Gil drew an axe and jumped down at him. However, both attacks went wide.

Velarok looked back and saw the chaos that had unfolded.

Velarok says: Now this here is something interestin’, isn’t it?

He started to stalk back towards them. His cloak unfurled into two large wings that allowed him to effortlessly cross onto the other cart.

Velarok says: Quite the unexpected welcoming committee. Where are my manners?

His hand twitched as he looked between Uther and Amaranthea. But then he paused, and hesitated, as if there was a moment of hesitation. He quick drew his gun and shot Uther, Anthea, and their mounts. A beam of concentrated shadowflame erupted in a line.

Anthea closed on Velarok on the back of her hippogryph and lunged forward with her lance. The weapon pulsed with pink and orange magic that ripped through Velarok as she struck, and the blade narrowly deflected off the majority of his cloak, just slashing across his cheek instead.

Velarok says: Only one person I know has spear work like that… long time no see, Amaranthea Dawnweaver.

Anthea scoffed as she backed off. Velarok drew his other weapon and fired after her as the ambient heat increased.

One of the outlaws threw dynamite into the air and shot it mid-air so it exploded. However, it was largely contained and not nearly as effective as they were hoping.

Teemo came roaring in her out motorbike.

Teemo Manabrake says: Don’t worry Streetlight, I gotcha!

She sidechecked the lieutenant that Luma had cast off the cart before as she drove by Luma and had them scooped up in the sidecar and zoomed forward again.

Teemo Manabrake says: All in one piece!?

Luma blinked, stunned.

Liiraluma says: …Hi Teemo.

They shot off after the train.

The train began to rock as the damage from up ahead caused it to briefly leave the track. The bandit on the back of the caboose leaned out to shoot at Luma, but was put directly in the line of the wall of sand was ripped off the back. Other dragonspawn that had latched onto the train also tumbled off the train.

The bandit that had been attacking Gil tripped and nearly fell under the wheels of the train. He begged for help as he just barely held on, and one of their allies pulled him in but then knocked him unconscious.

One of the dragonspawn on the cargo car charged at Vel. His initial strike nicked her, but the rest of the attacks were easily deflected.

Velarok says: You come back to finish the job, dragonslayer?

He shot another look at Anthea.

Amaranthea Dawnweaver says: I thought my lance made that clear.
Velarok says: Crying shame you didn’t use it the last time you was around these parts.

Uther reached out and grabbed the Windblade boss. Radiant took off from the train, and Uther dropped the Windblade boss off the train, before Radiant flew back. The Flametongue hissed indignantly and struck at Uther as his rider was removed.

The Windblade bruiser looked up at Vel and grabbed a bomb, but he decided to throw it down at the connector. The cart was making some very concerning noises.

The Windblade boss scrambled to her feet and tried to get back to the train.

Liiraluma says: Well, thanks for the lift, Teemo.

They righted themselves.

Liiraluma says: Stay close, it will probably happen again.

They used [Far Step] to get back to the train. Then then darted to the outside and conjured a [Gravity Fissure] along the side of the train. Two of the bandits were ripped off the side of the train and Luma ducked back into cover.

Velarok tumbled forward and started to blast shots at Anthea and her mount as he fanned the hammer. Some of them struck at her pyroclastic form, and half the damage was redirected at Uther.

Blanchy bucked upward which gave Vel a clear shot at Velarok, and she harnessed her magic to use [Dispel Magic] on the bandit leader. His eyes widened and he fired at her to try and interrupt the spell. However, Vel deflected the shot with a [Shield] and then transitioned the magic into a [Slow] that washed over the immediate enemies. Most of them were weighed down with spectral, frozen chains.

Anthea used the opportunity to charge at Velarok again, and she delivered a devastating strike that caused Velarok to momentarily retreat in an eruption of fiery ash. She then hopped back to cover the joint of the train cars.

Victor slipped through all the action on fiery wings, and he swept down with dive as Velarok took a moment to reload his equipment.

Victor Prestor shouts: I GOT YOU!

Velarok just barely brought up his arm to block, and there was a surge of energy that sent Velarok nearly falling off the train. He disappeared into ash again, but he was staggered and on the ground as Victor was deflected out of the fight by other covering fire.

The dragonspawn flametongue grabbed Uther and ripped him off Radiant to try and get him over to the side of the train, but he was unable to get all the way.

The other dragonspawn tried to melt the connection, but Anthea raised her shield and flamelike, pink and orange blossoming petals of energy erupted around her, shielding the connection.

Radiant swept down and buffeted the dragonspawn away from Uther. Uther then leaped onto Radiant’s back and activated his armor to vault him the rest of the way to Velarak. Uther slammed down with his hammer, and Velarok once more exploded into ash and teleported further up. Uther followed him with another vault and slammed into him again.

Gil teleported up to the roof of the train and took aim at Velarok. He fired, and the arrow careened through the group of slowed enemies and past Uther’s head. It struck him right in the heart.

The man growled.

Velarok says: …dammit. I wasn’t counting… on this. So be it. If you want to burn so badly, then let the Badlands BURN.

His form started to swirl as his eyes dilated. His hand transformed into a claw, and his form erupted into that of a full dragon: Velarian the Deceiver, the Bane of the Badlands. He was not even close in size to a creature like Onyxia, but he was a fully grown adult dragon, still wearing his hat.

He roared, and released a burst of shadowfire straight down the train, including his allies. The dragonspawn were unaffected, but the bandits burned. Blanchy was also dissipated in the flames as she raised a wing to help shield Vel. The vampyr slipped off the pegasus with ease, knowing that she just needed to recover.

However, Uther felt a deep rage in his core, but he thought back to his friends that were relying on him, and it was not the time to lose his cool.

Gil continued to fire arrows at Velarian, and the dragon roared. But then they heard his roar returned by more than one. Two dragons rose up on the horizon.

Velarian shouts: HEMATHION! OBSIDIA!

Anthea knew the name Obsidia. She was an adult dragon about 3,500 years old, and she was believed to have successful clutches even though she was not an ancient dragon. She was a rare exception of a young broodmother, and Hemathion was one of her consorts.

They were not supposed to be there.

The remaining Windblade bruiser decided he wasn’t paid enough for the entire ordeal and decided to tuck and roll off the train. As the train passed, Gil opted to heal the goblin so he didn’t bleed out. He looked very confused as he realized who had saved him.

The Windblade boss tried to get on the train, but was unsuccessful.
