December 15th
Rak’Symma looked around at the group, somewhat shocked that everyone went and planted the arcan’dor seed with little hesitation. She seemed to wonder why no one else apparently had any issue.
Tyrande looked pensive, as if she wasn’t fully on board with what the arcan’dor represented because she didn’t understand it, but at the same time, she clearly didn’t want people to be suffering.
Thalyssra looked more hopeful now than she had at any point before. There was a new fire lit in her spirit that was not present before.
Orathiss seemed extremely serious as she was not for the idea of it being planted in the first place. She was speaking extensively with Farodin to make plans to ensure the seed remained stable. Her concerns seemed to be more immediate, versus Tyrande’s that were more distant.
Nyxxa’s expression was hovering between Tyrande and Thalyssra’s, but was closer to Thalyssra and looked very hopeful.
Zar’Kaa took note that Rak’Symma seemed to be disquieted by the sight of the arcan’dor, but ultimately his priorities were presently elsewhere. Symma, however, approached Tyrande, who offered a smile.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Quite the miracle this seed seems to be.
Rak'Symma says: If you could call it that.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: That remains to be seen.
Symma gave Tyrande a hard look then looked at the tree.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: What troubles you, Rak’Symma?
Symma gave a defeated sigh and looked at the rest of the group.
Rak'Symma says: I understand how this can be important, but it feels like… you don’t grow feathers and you don’t know how it feels like when it grows it.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: You are uneasy about the arcan’dor?
Rak'Symma says: Considering its failures, I’m surprised its progress was started so… readily.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Thalyssra is eager to find a solution. To find a path forward for her people. But I can understand your reticence. Truthfully, among my people, very typically the opposite is the case. Our long lifespans tend to discourage swift action, and yet Thalyssra seems to be all too eager. I have to admit my misgivings come from the nature of this tree. For a long time, the highborne sought to shape nature and master the world with magic. This is a relic of those ancient times. But the question of why has puzzled me since I learned of it. Why was this project started? For what reason? If it began in an era before the War of the Ancients, for what purpose would so many resources be funneled here? It’s hard to explain why. I do not want to believe it was created with ill will, but the possibility struck me either way.
Symma closed her eyes and rubbed her temple.
Rak'Symma says: There was a lot of meddling before the war. And I won’t pretend to understand the scope of it, in truth. But it was different from how it all began.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: It is hard to say what this project will yield, But in the meantime, I can only do what I can to ensure the tragedies of the past are not repeated. Thalyssra’s intentions are pure, I intend to ensure they stay that way.
Rak'Symma says: You had a way to balance the life magics?
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Yes. At least, I believe it can help. The Tears of Elune is a relic at the temple in Val’sharah. It is old. Much older than the kaldorei. It is believed to be a fragment of Elune herself. One of her many tears she shed in this world’s darkest hour. It contains a great deal of power, hence why it is so carefully guarded. If this relic could help bring the arcan’dor into balance, then I plan to speak to the other priestesses to see if they would be willing to allow me to share its strength with the people of Suramar. But I don’t do so lightly. I believe the Tears of Elune to be of a similar strength and destructive capability as the Tidestone within Nar’thalas and the hammer that was secured in Highmountain.
Rak'Symma says: Do you think it’s wise to bring it here?
Tyrande Whisperwind says: I don’t know, and that’s why I haven’t made promises. But if my inaction were to doom an entire people… I don’t know what I would do with myself. If there are no other options, I will see what I can do. But it is dangerous right now, given the circumstances up north. I was hesitant to even bring it up given the dangers around Val’sharah.
Symma looked like she was biting back words, and Tyrande told her she could speak her mind.
Rak'Symma says: If I didn’t believe in redemption, I would be calling myself a heretic on account of my own people. I don’t understand the history of Suramar, and I would be a fool to deny us allies now when they are finally choosing to fight.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: People can be fickle creatures. I have not fully forgiven the people of Suramar in my own heart, as I was there during the war when they hid away. They were not those who sided with Queen Azshara, but in their inaction, it’s a question of if they were any better. But then I remember… it was not every person in Suramar that made that choice. Perhaps the brave or the reckless left the city like I did. Like Nyxxa did. To join the fight. But… it is hard to judge those who did not have a choice, or believed they did not have. There are people in the city that never knew the world outside the shield and who inherited the decisions of their forefathers. They are shackled to the same dangers and the same threats. I do not believe Elune would abide me sitting by and allowing them to suffer. I don’t know what will happen. But what I know is right is saving innocent lives. That’s why I joined the fight back then, after all. To help those who cannot help themselves. So I’m going to try and do that here. Perhaps when you see the city it might become more real. See what has become of the people there and their struggles. Then again… cities are a strange thing for you, aren’t they?
Rak'Symma says: I don’t understand the concept.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Though I grew up in one, I’m inclined to agree. There’s nothing wrong for holding turmoil in your heart, Rak’Symma, but never be afraid to share it.
Rak'Symma says: I think I’ll leave you with this for now. Do only what you think is right. If moving the Tears of Elune feels like its too much… I won’t tell you what to do. As for the people of Suramar, I will do the only thing I can do. Which is try to show them the way so they are not swept up in the storm.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Sound advice, my friend.
Meanwhile, Zar’Kaa sensed Kilnar Goldensword start to approach him. She bowed her head.
Kilnar Goldensword says: Zar’Kaa.
Zar'Kaa says: Magistrix Kilnar. I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced.
Kilnar Goldensword says: Perhaps not, but we are aware of each other, so we can dispense with formalities for the moment.
Zar'Kaa says: Fair enough. What can I do for you?
Kilnar Goldensword says: Given my team and I will be working to ensure the leystations are routed and you and your companions will be making for the city, I thought it wise for us to have a discussion.
Zar'Kaa says: A discussion regarding my… research?
Kilnar Goldensword says: Precisely. I've been apprised of your… interest? In pursuing more information about the Red Mist and the condition that myself and a handful of others amongst my people find themselves afflicted with.
Zar’Kaa nodded.
Zar'Kaa says: Yes, we’ve made some progress on that front, but our next step will have to be much bigger if we’re going to make any headway.
Kilnar Goldensword says: You… keep using the word we. I find that rather curious. I have heard of some of your intentions, but I believe I wish to hear them from you directly. What is your… reason for involving yourself in this particular course of study? It’s not like you and your Darkspear are affected.
Zar'Kaa says: No. That is a fair inquiry. It began first because I wanted to understand the people I was fighting alongside. I was concerned about aligning myself with people that would use such a weapon. Beyond learning more about the situation and what the Red Mist is… I began to consider what could be easier for all parties involved if I could put forth my medical expertise. If I could do something about this. I kept it to myself at first because I wasn’t sure there was anything I could do, but as I went along, it began to see more and more likely there could be something. Which brings us to now. But you asked about intent. I don’t have an angle or a play, I want to do this because I can.
Kilnar Goldensword says: So… what began as an idle curiosity… a step on your decisions on whether you want to align yourself with the Horde… is now a pet project of yours that you believe you’ll find the answer for out of the goodness of your heart?
Zar'Kaa says: You’re skeptical.
Kilnar Goldensword says: You’ll forgive me for my skepticism.
Zar'Kaa says: There’s no secret that there’s no love between our people or good history. It may not be like you and Amani, but nonetheless, I can understand where your trepidations come from. I wouldn’t say I will find the answer, but at least a… piece of the puzzle? Another step in the right direction? If that’s something I can do, I want to.
Kilnar measured her words carefully.
Kilnar Goldensword says: Very well, Zar’Kaa. I have to admit I am curious what pieces you might happen to find.
Zar'Kaa says: As I am I.
Kilnar Goldensword says: It goes without saying, however, should you find anything I expect it to be shared with us. And should I discover that you are hiding any sort of ulterior motives? A desire to use whatever this theoretical knowledge might be to gain some sort of vantage or increase your own accolades? Then from that moment onwards, I can assure you, whatever information you find will not save you. But. I would hope that would be clear. I just wanted to ensure it was crystal.
Zar'Kaa says: Crystal indeed.
Kilnar Goldensword says: Wonderful.
Zar'Kaa says: I’m glad you came to find me actually… I wasn’t avoiding this conversation, but I was preoccupied.
Kilnar Goldensword says: Of course.
Zar'Kaa says: But I will give you updates as we go along. The next step we will be taking… there won’t be risk to your people, but to myself and everyone that will be going, perhaps. I don’t say this because you need to worry about me or my allies, but on the topic of… I guess, trust… I’m hoping my companions and I risking ourselves will help to aid that trust. Words are measured in deeds, not words.
Kilnar Goldensword says: …Then perhaps we should end this conversation here before more words are shared.
The group reconvened with Thalyssra to discuss their next steps with Suramar. Namely, she had a number of favors and leads to inform them of that were in the city.
Nyxxa Murkthorn says: I want to reiterate that what we do in Suramar is under your leadership. You know more than us, and we are just here to help.
Zar’Kaa agreed and Thalyssra thanked her before directing them to Oculeth, who produced a small disc. He placed it at the center of the table they were speaking around, and and Valtrois wove a spell over it that projected a replica of the city of Suramar.
Thalyssra wove a finger over the illusion and it rotated at her touch.
Thalyssra Dusklily says: The city itself is roughly spherical in shape between 25 and 35 miles in diameter. The city is divided into multiple terraces and districts, each which have a variety of points of interest. This district is the one where Elisande and her advisors hold their court. It is a palace and an academy and a military fortress, and undoubtedly it will be the final obstacle we face. It is also the home of the Nightwell.
Valtrois Leyweaver says: It also grants a phenomenal view of the bay.
Thalyssra Dusklily says: It’s also where the representatives of the Legion are being kept as honored guests.
Nyxxa confirmed they had been able to confirm that.
Thalyssra added the Court of Stars, the Court of Midnight, and many others surrounded the district, which was where the nobility and powerful magi kept their estates.
Zar’Kaa asked what the courts presided over, and Thalyssra clarified the courts were where the estates were located, but court itself was held in the Night Hold.
Thalyssra went into a description of where the orchards and grapevines around the Night Hold were used to produce arcwine, and the gate around the Twilight Vineyards went all the way to the ocean and was responsible for generating the mythal that kept the city cloaked. There were also watchtowers along the border.
She explained the bay and the gondolas accessed from the Astravar Harbor, as well as the bazaars that frequently set up in the area. She directed them to the main area that she believed they’d be starting in, and Zar’Kaa asked for the best way to traverse the city.
Nyxxa asked if there was a means to traverse underground, and Oculeth noted there was an extensive network of tunnels under the city. However, it was crawling with Elisande’s people in the most important locations. Thalyssra suggested the gondolas, however, as they were a very common form of transportation and many were driven via automated magics.
Nyxxa asked how they were to get into the city, and Runas spoke up with his own solution as he had experience coming and going with or without the permission of the powers that be. He had made some friends within the guard, and one used to keep watch along the southern gates.
Thalyssra asked who he was talking about, and Runas said it was Silgryn Silverwind. Thalyssra said she knew him, and he was a spellfencer of great caliber. However, he had never accepted any ranking position. She believed he opposed Elisande’s iron fist. Instead, he was one of the head instructors of the Duskwatch. It was possible that Silgryn could also get them an audience with her own contact, Ly’leth Lunastre.
Thalyssra produced her dusklily seal and handed it over to the party so they could show it to both Silgryn and Ly’leth, as they would recognize her seal.
Nyxxa suggested they go in as demons to start as it would not be an uncommon sight for them to get bearings on the city. Sol, however, countered that people would scrutinize demons more. Nyxxa pointed out none of them spoke the nightborne tongue, and Sol said if they went in as a mixed group they could use the demons as an excuse for their translation magics.
They discussed disguises and the pros and cons of each, and Thalyssra brought up her last point of interest was her own estate, as she had various tools within it that could be useful to them. She also had hidden correspondences there that she wished to keep out of Elisande’s hands. She could explain how to find them when they got there.
She also requested, if they had room… she wouldn’t mind some of her wardrobe back either.
Zar'Kaa says: Sol, I have to ask. We know Aracyra is in the city. If we cross paths, will you be able to leave her alone?
Sol'chi says: Of course, it’s not the time nor place to confront her.
Zar'Kaa says: Alright then. I think we have as much covered as we can for now.
Runas also said he wouldn’t mind checking in on his friend Faelin as they were heading into the city. He was sure he could help them in some way or another.
Zar’Kaa pointed out it was worth considering Faelin might be compromised. Runas smiled and said, with all respect, he doubted Elisande would waste her time with him, which was why he felt Faelin might be useful.
Symma said she could wrap her head around most things that were mentioned, but she asked what a zoo was. Thalyssra explained it was a habitat for various creatures that had been brought in from far and wide. It was an attraction where people could bear witness to the creatures. She believed Volpin had likely been destined for the menagerie had they not freed him.
Symma had been nodding along, but then abruptly stopped.
Thalyssra Dusklily says: I know it must seem rather strange. In truth, the menagerie is not what it used to be. Before the War of the Ancients, it was a conservatory. A place where animals that were rescued could live safely until they were able to be released, if such a time could happen. Unfortunately, after 10,000 years of isolation, it became… a museum for what was believed to have been gone. The only remnant of the world outside our walls. It was less about conservation and rehabilitation, and more about attempted preservation.
Zar'Kaa says: Not being able to let go.
Thalyssra Dusklily says: In a sense. I do love to visit it. Though I also wish to… I suppose one of the biggest reasons I enjoyed it was because of our kinship. They were as much in a cage as we were, we just didn’t realize it.
Nyxxa Murkthorn says: Perhaps when this is over, it could be shifted to what it used to be. But we can’t do anything until the city is freed.
Thalyssra Dusklily says: I would much like that. Though there is a magnificent devilsaur there. I’m certain you would be taken by Su’esh.
Zar’Kaa raised an eyebrow.
Zar'Kaa says: They have one here?
Thalyssra nodded and explained Su’esh’s ancestors were at the menagerie before the shield went up. But she wished them luck and told them that she would be in touch with them once they got into the city.
The group used Wind Walk to get to the border of Suramar City. They flew over the expansive forest and they could see scattered ruins below them. Before long, they saw the highest spires of the newly-revealed city illuminated by the light of the sun. It was unlike anything they had seen on the Broken Isles thus far.
Over the telepathic link, Altruis commented that it had changed a lot over the years, but parts of it were also exactly as it used to be. They spent some time flirting over the telepathic link, and Levia commented they could save it until they were off the link. Thisalee just laughed.
They managed to find a good spot to lay low outside the city as they made their final preparations. While they prepared, Zar’Kaa reflected on his teachings with Gul’dan.
Specifically, the nature of fel, which was change and flux. Introducing fel magic irrevocably altered it. However, unlike any other form of magic, the fel could influence anything. It was a wildfire and a virulence that knew no boundaries. Nothing was above its reach. It did not discriminate nor pick and choose nor did it have a weakness. It simply was. And while a fire could be put out, the damage the fire inflicted would last long after the flames sputtered out of existence. Ultimately, there was no way to remove the fel, or rather, the scars it left.
However, that was the tutelage of Gul’dan, and it was limited to his own knowledge.
Meanwhile, Symma was musing over her feathers, deep in thought.
Rak'Symma says: Loathe as I am to change my face, I know it’s necessary… the rest of you have ways of doing that, and I do not. I know the contact may be able to help with that, but I also have someone that might be able to help.
Zar'Kaa says: Who?
Rak'Symma says: You are definitely not going to like it.
Zar'Kaa says: Oh.
Sol'chi says: This sounds like fun!
Rak'Symma says: You’d actually quite enjoy them. Nyxxa, you would also probably enjoy them.
She looked up at the sky and held a feather out toward the blue moon.
Rak'Symma says: Well, you were waiting for something interesting. I have a favor for you.
She used [Commune], and she felt a curiosity at her words. The feather sparkled, and then turned bright blue in her hand. They heard a laugh on the wind, but only Ra’Symma heard the voice.
Q'onzu says: What an unexpected gift. You have my attention.
Rak'Symma says: The favor I asked is unlike what you offered before… I’m not searching for your guidance or a solution to a problem. I need to be able to blend into this city.
Q'onzu says: Why would you want to do that?
Rak'Symma says: Want is a strong word. But discretion is needed, and I draw too much attention.
Q'onzu says: I say… Hmhmhm… you’ve piqued my curiosity. You certainly have. But what are you willing to offer, and what are you seeking to gain?
Rak'Symma says: I need a disguise. I need to not cause a scene when I pass through the city. As for what I can offer… I can owe you a favor.
Q'onzu says: A favor? My, that is delightfully nebulous, isn’t it? Hmmm… A favor. I’d be willing to lend you a hand for a favor. In fact, I can deliver something that might make your life so much easier. But… if you’d be willing to give me something a bit more, perhaps I can give you something even greater than that.
Rak'Symma says: I mean this will all respect… but what could you possibly need?
Q'onzu says: Need is a strong word. It can be dreadfully boring… but perhaps just some company.
Everything froze around her, and Symma saw an outline of long, antlered horns appear behind her allies.
Q'onzu says: You made many friends, and it's made me quite jealous. What if you just left them behind? Forget about your problems and come join me. Wouldn’t it be so much more fun. After all, we can stop pretending like you need to worry about the concerns of mortals.
Rak’Symma laughed dryly.
Rak'Symma says: My concern aren’t the mortals. My kin? Yes. But that’s a bold exception.
Q'onzu says: Is that a no then?
Rak'Symma says: Down here, defending the wilds is all I ever want to do.
The stars overhead started to wink out one after another as they formed the shape of a frown.
Q'onzu says: I suppose… it would get boring with just the two of us, after all.
The frowning stars flipped into a smile.
Q'onzu says: Very well. A favor it is then. Tell me, my dear old-new friend… can this be for anything?
Rak'Symma says: Why do I feel like you hate the phrase within reason?
Q'onzu says: Because it’s quite unsensible! But I understand. I won’t make you do anything against your moral code. From what I’ve seen of it. You’ll have your help. In fact, I’ll send it on its way. It’ll arrive right when you need it.
Rak'Symma says: Thank you, Lo’sho.
Q'onzu says: And thank you, Rak’Symma. I’ll see you soon. Until then… stay interesting darling.
The spell ended, and time unfroze. However, the feather was still blue. Nyxxa asked if it worked, and Rak’Symma confirmed it did. She explained it was Lo’sho, though he was going by Q’onzu, and she filled the party in on the loose things she knew about him.
Zar'Kaa says: Now you can see things from my point of view a bit.
Rak’Symma shot Zar’Kaa a frown.
Nyxxa said from the people that do or do not like Lo’sho, those that do view change as a blessing. Levia scoffed and commented it was no wonder that elves didn’t like him. Rak’Symma said that the gift didn’t come for free, and she explained she offered a favor.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh…. that was such a bad idea.
Sol looked up at the moon.
Sol'chi says: Have fun with that one!
Rak'Symma says: Don’t encourage him.
Sol'chi says: I like him already!
Altruis said they should maintain watches and everyone settled into their schedule.
December 16th
As third watch came to an end, Symma stirred because she felt a breeze moving past her. She felt something on her face. It was slightly wet. She immediately smacked it away.
She looked at it, and it appeared to be a strange mask. It looked like the wings of a butterfly made of firm leather. It had landed in a recent paw print. She followed the tracks, and saw a large cat standing over Nyxxa’s body. She was awoken to a large tongue licking her face.
It was a manasaber.
Nyxxa eagerly pet it and Altruis awoke with a start. However, Nyxxa saw, with her spectral eyes, there were bright blue eyes with curling antlers overhead. A voice in her head thanked her.
Then the manasaber blinked as the antlers faded, and the cat looked confused before he started licking her again.
Nyxxa Murkthorn says: Losna sent me a kitty!
Altruis Shadowsong says: What?
Everyone started to wake up as Rak’Symma apologized to the manasaber for being made a messenger. However, they realized the manasaber was familiar.
It was D’Bynn.
Nyxxa asked where his friend was, and he didn’t even seem to know how he had gotten there.
Almost as if planned by an unseen hand, they sensed another presence in the area. They realized it was Syrenne.
She lowered her crossbow and asked what they were doing there and why they were with D’Bynn. Rak’Symma simply said he was on an errand from the moon.
Syrenne Vultreth says: …Under any other circumstance I’d say you’re completely insane, but my dear companion and his unexpected proclivities say otherwise. It’s true what you wrote, isn’t it?
Nyxxa confirmed, and she asked what her opinion on the matter was. Syrenne said she was a simple member of the Duskwatch and she served the Grand Magistrix… however, the Dusklily’s words had moved her. Syrenne assured them that she wasn’t going to report their meeting to her superiors.
She asked if they had a plan to get into the city, and Nyxxa said they had a baseline as they had been trying to find Silgryn. Syrenne explained Silgryn was her relief before long and she could take them to meet with him. However, she told them to stay out of trouble and ensure it didn’t bite her in the ass.
Nyxxa promised her they had never met her. As Syrenne noted the mask Rak’Symma was holding, she said she wasn’t sure how D’Bynn found it, but it was used by nobility to disguise themselves for parties.
Runas sidled over to Symma and told her he could show her how it worked, as they were always quite fun. He explained the command word was “Masquerade” and she simply had to picture what she looked like in her mind.
She changed into the guise of an arakkoa. Syrenne blinked in surprise as she had seen them in the city, but she was surprised a harpy had seen them as well. Symma simply said that there were plenty of surprises on the isles, and Syrenne nodded and started to lead them toward the meeting point.
She led them toward a hidden location as she went out to meet with her relief. However, the group heard the flapping of wings overhead, and they saw a silver-winged creature that soared down from the upper terrace. It seemed to have noticed the group and it cocked its head to the side.
It was a falcon with brilliant silver feathers with an underglow of magic, similar to the manasabers. They saw Syrenne returning with a nightborne man, who had long silver hair and an inactive spellblade at his hip. He had a metallic golden chin-guard on his face, and was otherwise adorned in armor.
He regarded the group with stern curiosity.
Runas says: Silgryn! My old friend, it’s good to see you again!
Silgryn Silverwind says: You have me at a disadvantage… or I’m more popular beyond the walls than I realize. Have we met before, good sir?
Runas says: Right, you might not recognize me. It’s me! Runas!
Silgryn Silverwind says: Runas the scoundrel… you came back and survived your exile?
Runas says: You know me!
Silgryn crossed his arms.
Silgryn Silverwind says: What are you doing back here, and why are you with such strange company? Syrenne wouldn’t give me many details, only that you’re here to meet with me.
Runas says: And to show you something.
Runas tossed the seal of the Dusklily to Silgryn, whose eyes widened.
Silgryn Silverwind says: Dusklily… Thalyssra? She lives?
Syrenne nodded.
Syrenne Vultreth says: She does. The exile we were hunting… it was her. She wrote me a letter and it was her handwriting. It was immaculate. I highly doubt anyone could copy it.
Silgryn smiled.
Silgryn Silverwind says: I’m glad to hear it. My greatest regret when I heard what happened was that I was not standing by her side. What the Grand Magistrix has done… has been thinly veiled tyranny. So you. You’re all here to help?
Nyxxa Murkthorn says: We are acting on her behalf. We seek to make allies in order to end the demon occupation here.
Zar'Kaa says: And her reign along with it.
Silgryn Silverwind says: Good. Thalyssra holds more sway than she gives herself credit for. Since the shield fell, unease has been the story of the day. But… the people have not had anything to look towards with Thalyssra branded a traitor. Hope has been in as short supply as arcwine. If she’s alive. If she’s intent on retaking the city, then word needs to be spread, but we need to do it smartly.
Nyxxa Murkthorn says: With your expertise and knowledge, I’m sure your wisdom would be valuable to us.
Silgryn nodded.
Silgryn Silverwind says: There are some in the Duskwatch who likewise do not agree with the regime Elisande has created. The changes have been… difficult. I know sympathetic forces within it. Truth be told, I’ve been praying for a sign of something… something for us to rally behind. I know I’m not the only one. Did Thalyssra send you to find someone?
They gave a quick summary of what Thalyssra had told them, and Silgryn agreed Ly’leth was a good place to start. He trusted her with his life, and he had served her father. He explained the public story was that he lost his life during the rebellion, but the truth was Elisande had him silenced. Ly’leth had been trying to make connections, and she had been patient as she waited for the time to do something.
He said she was having a garden party. A masquerade.
He looked at Syrenne and admitted it was a lot, but she was a good, dutiful woman. He knew she saw that what Elisande was doing was not good for the nation. He asked her to keep what she heard to herself, and also requested that she watch his post longer so their allies could get to the garden party.
Syrenne looked at the group and commented she had stumbled on quite a conspiracy. Nyxxa joked D’Bynn was the one that did.
Syrenne asked Silgryn how he knew she wasn’t going to just turn him over, and he smiled and said she wasn’t that kind of person. However, if she did, he wouldn’t judge her, as he knew it wouldn’t be for personal gain.
Syrenne rolled her eyes.
Syrenne Vultreth says: Shut up. Go. Just don’t be too long, I want to go to bed at some point.
Silgryn nodded with a smile and looked to the group to follow them in. He told them it was a masquerade, so the more ridiculous the disguise, the better. He called to the falcon, whose name was Kal, and had the creature keep watch.
Silgryn led them to a sizeable, bustling estate that was littered with guards and masquerade party goers, but they paid them no attention as he led them to a servant entrance. He conjured a key of pure force from a keyring and said he didn’t have keys to every estate, but this one at least, he did.
He allowed them in and they saw a crowd of everything but nightborne. People were dressed as animals and other creatures, some looked like orcs, others were over-exaggerated caricatures of characters from plays.
Silgryn told them he would find Ly’leth while they mingled. Nyxxa was already in disguise: she looked like a nude, anthro nightsaber.
Zar’Kaa was disguised as captain Volo’ren from Nar’thalas.
Sol was disguised as a moonkin.
As they dispersed into the crowd, Nyxxa looked around, and she noted that, curiously, it was only nightborne under the disguises. No demons. And it seemed to be a rather curated group.
