Vol'jin

Vol'jin was the former chieftain of the Darkspear Tribe and had long sworn to do everything in his power to lead the Darkspear just as his late father, Sen'jin, would have. Unfortunately, he was killed in an attack on his tribe by his former best friend, Zalazane.

Biography

Vol'jin was the chieftain of the Darkspear Tribe before Zalazane's return as an undead, and he had inherited the title from his father, Sen'jin, who was the former chieftain and witch doctor. His tribe ultimately became the one that absorbed those trolls that were on the run from Zalazane's influence. He was once best friends with Zalazane before the Second Troll Wars, and he lost a lot at the hands of the elves during the conflict—including the majority of his children from a previous mate. The mate he had at the time had been grievously injured during the conflict, though ultimately managed to survive and was able to give birth to his youngest son, Rai, several years later.

Death

Vol'jin was killed when Rai helped to sneak the revived Zalazane into the Darkspear village after the monster promised Rai he would be able to heal his mother. Unfortunately, the promise was a lie, and Zalazane actually ended up raising Vol'jin's mate's corpse and used it as a distraction so that he could land a killing blow on the chieftain that would have otherwise been his better. Zalazane and his forces were chased from the tribe, but not before the Darkspear suffered major casualties - including Vol'jin.

Undeath

Vol'jin was later raised by Zalazane and was used to combat Uther's party deep within the troll catacombs. He was ultimately put to a final rest by Velameestra Windrunner, who had managed to be revived just in time to blast the mummified chieftain with icy fire after Rai was cast aside after he dispelled the mummy rot curse from her.

Rai wept over his body when he came to, as his death - and the near death of his new friends at the hands of his father's corpse - had ultimately been his fault.
