Zalazane actively fought in the Second Troll Wars and was ultimately killed by the elven mage Nirenn Windrunner after she intercepted a hex that he had directed at her husband, Lirath.
King of the Trolls
Many years later, Zalazane was somehow able to return to a state of undeath and started to amass a large amount of trolls to his cause after promising an era of peace and safety to the battle-torn tribes due to the constant warring against the elves of Quel'Thalas. Many of the trolls flocked to his leadership and actively began to contribute to his army of both the living and undead, though multiple other groups splintered off and fled from Zalazane's rule out of fear. They eventually grouped together under the name of Darkspear.
