Prestidigitation

Transmutation Cantrip
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 10 feet
Components: VS
Duration: Up to 1 hour

You conjure a minor magical trick that novice spellcasters use for practice.
Target. Varies.
Effect. You create one of the following magical effects within range:
  • You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor.
  • You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
  • You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot.
  • You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour.
  • You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour.
  • You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand and that lasts until the end of your next turn.
Special. If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an Action.
Cantrip Progression. This spell improves in certain ways when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, you can have up to five non-instantaneous effects active at a time, and you can dismiss any number of such effects as an Action. In addition, your repertoire of magic tricks expands, allowing you to create the following effect:
  • You can dry off any willing creatures you see within range.
At 11th level, the spell's range increases to 30 feet, and when lighting or snuffing out a candle, torch, or small campfire, you can target all objects within range simultaneously. At 17th level, when cleaning or soiling an object, or when chilling, warming, or flavoring nonliving material, you can target objects no larger than 5 cubic feet. In addition, the trinket or illusory image you conjure can fit in a 1-foot cube, and the duration of your non-instantaneous effects increases to 8 hours. At 23rd level, when you cast this spell, you may mask it to resemble a much more powerful spell. Unless the creature can identify the highest-level spell you can cast, it appears as if you are casting a spell you know at the highest level you can cast. The actual level and effects of this spell are unchanged. At 28th level, you can have any number of non-instantaneous effects active at a time.
