"His warblades howled over the clamor of battle, rending anything that came near. Each demon Toranaar vanquished seemed to fill him with renewed vigor and strength. He was an army unto himself."

The Aldrachi Warblades were weapons that were once wielded by the king of the aldrachi people and the most elite of his champions. It's said that the ones wielded by the king supped directly on the soul of Sargeras, as the champion of the aldrachi chose to fight against the Dark Titan to his final breath. Only a small number of these warblades survived the annihilation of their world, but the pair wielded by King Toranaar himself endured. That particular pair was named Torah'Nal by their current wielder, Nyxxa.

History

The Aldrachi Warblades were once commanded by the king of the aldrachi—a people from a world that was long ago invaded by the Burning Legion. The Dark Titan Sargeras offered the aldrachi a place in the Legion, but they refused, instead opting to slay as many demons as possible while their world was consumed. Sargeras personally slew their king and claimed his warblades as a trophy. Eventually, these warblades were given as a gift from Kil'jaeden to Caria Felsoul when she swore her allegiance to him.

However, when Caria fell victim to petrification from the magical defenses within the manor of Kilnar Goldensword, Nyxxa chose to claim the weapons as her own—risking Caria's wrath for such a betrayal when the fallen demon hunter emerged again.

While in Outland, Nyxxa realized that it was unfortunate that the blades did not carry a name of their own, despite their legendary status. Thus, she sought out Arthak Saurfang for help in figuring out what to call them. Together they decided on the name "Torah'Nal", meaning "Memory's Consequence" in Darnassian. Upon the Legion's ousting from the Horde Nyxxa modified the blades' coating. She removed the gold finishing and replaced it with green on one blade and purple on the other, further permanently marking the blades as her own.

Properties

The Aldrachi Warblades are a set of powerful magical weapons that have the following abilities.

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with these magic weapon. If attuned to both warblades (uses a single attunement slot), they have the following additional properties.
Flames of War. You can use a Bonus Action to speak the magic blades' command word, causing the edge of both blades and all other warblades within 60 feet that are wielded by friendly creatures to glow white-hot and flicker with fire. The blades shed bright light in a 10-foot radius, and dim light for an additional 10 feet. While the edges burn, the blades deals an extra 1d6 fire damage to any target it hits. The flames last until you use a Bonus Action to speak the command word again or until you drop or sheathe the blade.
Soul Carver. Every strike of the warblades carves a piece of their victim's soul and absorbs it, honing the blade's edge and the wielder's resolve both. When you hit a creature with this weapon, it takes 1 force damage, and an additional 1 force damage for every time you have struck the target with a Warblade this turn. You then gain temporary hit points equal to the total force damage dealt by Warblades that you are wielding this turn. Creatures that have no souls, like most constructs, undead, and oozes, are immune to this damage. Any force damage dealt by this weapon can be regained only through a short or long rest, rather than by regeneration, magic, or any other means. Additionally, when you deal force damage with a Warblade you are wielding, you may activate Flames of War on any Warblades you are wielding as if you had used the command word with no actions required.
