Vel had sought out the garage that Luma had appropriated and, upon seeing Luma was present working on tuning up their arm and turrets, she rapped on the garage door to get the draenei’s attention. Luma looked over at her as they took a drink.

Liiraluma says: Hm. I should get a doorbell.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Fortunately we won’t be here much longer. I had a question for you.

Luma nodded and leaned against their desk.

Liiraluma says: Shoot.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I heard a few times when you were talking about Azeroth about us being… backwater? What does that mean?

Luma’s brows raised and they chuckled.

Liiraluma says: I’m happy to answer, but why?
Velameestra Windrunner says: I assumed it was a difference in technological approaches. I spent some time watching the gnomes and their approach to technology to see if there was anything they were capable of doing that we were not, but from what I was able to ascertain, it’s just a different way of accomplishing things various high magic cultures are already capable of. Thus I was unsure what would justify such a definition.

Luma mouthed “justify a such a definition” into their mug as they took a sip, tapping their fingernails on the ceramic which were presently painted a bright blue and pink color. Vel’s eyes flickered down to the nails, and Luma rolled their eyes.

Liiraluma says: I didn’t pick it. But, backwater huh? Making me sit still has given me a lot of time to think about a lot of things.

They motioned to the garage and themself.

Liiraluma says: I could use technology as an excuse, of course, which I have and probably will. I have been earnestly fascinated from my limited experience and the things I’ve heard of the sin’dorei and dwarf capabilities, for example. Different elements. But I think… how do I put this succinctly. Do you know what a… no we’ll start somewhere else.

Luma put their mug down and rubbed their temple.

Liiraluma says: In what is now the history of the eredar before they became corrupted. When the draenei did not yet exist, we lived on one planet called Argus. My brother was old enough to remember. Plenty of survivors do remember. There was no war. There was no concept of money. No one starved. No one was beyond another. Even in the triumvirate, even though when acted on by an outside force, it would have come crashing down eventually. That took a titan. A force of great power to split. Now that’s a romanticized version, but I believe I had hoped when I looked out into the stars and we could find a new home and defend it, that we could come to a place that was not more wars inside wars inside of wars. Have you ever heard of a matroshka before?

Vel knit her brows as she considered.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I don’t believe I have.
Liiraluma says: Someone has to have something similar.

Luma projected a small illusion that depicted nesting dolls.

Liiraluma says: You may call them nesting dolls… something where one goes inside the other. Since I have been on your planet, I have been a part of endless conflict since we got here. I think I had a hope that now that I see Azeroth and now that I am… trying to understand more as I weave myself into the fabric of a planet that I could not have imagined. It feels like in all everyone has lost, there is so much potential being squandered on fighting. I suppose my initial disgust toward the world you were all born upon came from the fact I had a hope there could be peace, knowing it was once achievable. I don’t think I’m right, not exactly, but I find myself still bitter about it.

Vel tilted her head.

Velameestra Windrunner says: So you are… frustrated because you were hoping to find something you lost and were disappointed it wasn’t there?
Liiraluma says: Something I never got to have. I was born after the draenei and eredar split. But I have a hope someday… through magic or technology, it doesn’t matter because it’s basically the same thing. It’s just light through prisms and some mana put into it… in a simplified version. I’m sure you get it, I’ve seen the armor you made.

Luma smiled distantly.

Liiraluma says: I think the idea was romantic and I’m just not over the fact that we have to keep fighting and fighting. And here, we’re on our way to end a civil war only to be tossed back into a third one, nonetheless anything with the Legion. Which I don’t even want to think about right now.

Luma waved their hand.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I… don’t bother right now. Thinking about the Legion. There’s… too much else to do.
Liiraluma says: I think it might just be in the draenei fabric, but I respect it.

Luma offered a salute and laughed quietly.

Liiraluma says: It’s easy to take it out on the unknown.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Is it… also possible that looking back in history, even the people that lived on Argus are simply overlooking the flaws that the society had?
Liiraluma says: Perhaps. I guess there’s nothing that subscribes to the definition of true perfection, but there was a semblance of peace. But it may not have lasted. It moved slow because we live for a long time. But I think I ache for the fact all we make are weapons, and progress is only beget by weaponry and fighting, even here. I don’t think I know how to reckon with that yet.
Velameestra Windrunner says: …You’re tired.
Liiraluma says: An apt way to put it, if a bit blunt, but I have no room to talk in that regard.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Thank you for explaining.
Liiraluma says: Did it bother you when I said that?
Velameestra Windrunner says: In a way. I wanted to know the reasoning behind it. I’m proud of what’s been accomplished with the arcane. If it stemmed from a belief that technology was in some way superior… I believe I would have taken more offense, given they accomplish the same things.
Liiraluma says: No.

Luma motioned to their prosthetic arm.

Liiraluma says: Magic and technology are synonymous. Everything I know comes from the Light and the naaru. Without this, the advanced crystal artifice the naaru introduced us to… from what I understand we had just begun to launch satellites around Argus and observe the cosmos before the first crystals fell. I’m sure Remnii’s told you about that event. When there were signs of the worlds beyond… did you know the draenei used arcane magic before the Light came along?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Raluhi had mentioned before that it was referred to as the true magics.
Liiraluma says: Yup. That’s what it’s frome. I quite like the arcane. But there is little difference between an arcanely made golem and a crystal golem, for example, or even a construct brought to life by stone or earth and energy… at least from what I understand. It’s all magic. Mine’s just in a shiny casing.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And others are made of rusted bolts.

Vel glanced over to one of the gnomish constructs that lumbered by the open garage. The construct waved at the two and continued on its way.

Velameestra Windrunner says: …We had arcane golems in Silvermoon. They operated similar to that.
Liiraluma says: Honestly that would probably put it closer to any golems the draenei had before, you know, the crash, so it’s going to take a while for us to rebuild. I’ll have to pick your brain about it later, I could talk all day. But I think that’s all I have. I’m not done being upset.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Maybe we should talk all day sometime.

Luma nodded and adjusted their glasses.

Liiraluma says: I think I’d like that.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I could use the distraction at points. Everyone can. But thank you for explaining.
Liiraluma says: Of course. I’ve learned I’ve come off lightyears harsher than I mean, I rarely mean much seriously. You can just tell me to shut up if something bothers you.

Luma laughed with a wink.

Velameestra Windrunner says: That’s why I thought it wise to ask about it. Rather than assuming.

Luma clicked their tongue and offered a finger gun. Their other arm, which was also on the table, moved and gave the second one.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Speaking of… what are you working on?

Vel and Luma divulged into talking about some of the projects Luma actually wanted to accomplish in the future, at least in theory. Luma seemed to want to be a city builder, and Luma also showed some of the magic they had acquired after making the pact and explained that their decision to do so was part of their attempt to get over their bitterness.

Liiraluma says: I’ve also been thinking about engineering a ready-made golem that I can summon on the battlefield so that it can carry my turrets for me! So they can move faster.
Velameestra Windrunner says: That would be exceedingly convenient.
Liiraluma says: Exactly! I love them, but they’re so slow.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Have you considered a floating arcane disc, by chance? As a baseline, given it would just follow you automatically.
Liiraluma says: I just learned how to use that spell!

Luma pointed at Vel excitedly with a laugh.

Liiraluma says: I’ve been trying all this new magic! No, the disc would be fun! See, this is why we should talk more!

Luma also talked about some teleportation methods they had looked into, and Vel shared some of her experiences with the goblin teleporter in Gadgetzan, which caused a series of different expressions of disgust to cross over Luma’s face.

Luma also did veer into the vigilants, which were constructs that draenic spirits could be linked to. It was an art that was lost many millennia ago, but the concept immediately drew Vel’s attention given the similarities to the idea she had been musing for Kel’Thuzad’s new body. Some of the concepts also sounded similar to an alteration to the magic jar spell, and Vel offered to retrieve a component she had for such a spell from her demiplane for Luma to take a look at.

As Luma was toward her room in the conjured manor, she saw Zagarra waiting outside. Luma stopped, and then squinted. Zagarra looked over at her.

Zagarra says: Your displeasure is understandable. I just wanted to ask you something.

There was a pregnant bead of silence.

Liiraluma says: Fine. Shoot.

Zagarra looked around.

Liiraluma says: What, is the hallway not good enough?

Zagarra clearly wanted privacy, and Luma sighed audibly and rolled her eyes.

Liiraluma says: Fine, come on.

Luma lead the way into their room and closed the door behind them. Zagarra took note of some of Teemo’s belongings but didn’t say anything.

Zagarra says: You are a dragonsworn now? You took the words?
Liiraluma says: Yup.
Zagarra says: I wanted to know what you thought. You are not from Azeroth, yet you swore the oath and took this burden. What do you think?
Liiraluma says: Of the burden or all of it?
Zagarra says: Of the words.
Liiraluma says: I don’t like Azeroth. I think it’s polluted with conflict, but I believe my opinion needs to change. I do not like how ugly it makes me feel, and how a lot of things are going. But what I do believe in is progress. I feel I need purpose, and if my people will be on this world after everything that has happened to us… I believe Azeroth is where we will make our last stand. That’s a personal reason. For the words? I simply believe in progress, even before the draenei element to it. I don’t want things to stay as they are, and if this is a force that needs to be let loose to correct what has been done wrong, then being a part of something bigger is a good idea, because I’m not always a nice person.

Luma shrugged.

Zagarra says: I see. Thank you for your time.

Zagarra turned to leave.

Liiraluma says: Uh uh uh, what about you? You seem confused. It seems your dragon has some goals that are… I don’t know him. I don’t know much of anything.
Zagarra says: I’m wondering if I did either.
Liiraluma says: Well? Why did you do it?

Zagarra hesitated.

Zagarra says: Because I saw what could be. I saw what… this represented. Progress. I’m not sure what that is anymore. My friends and family are… my past is a distant memory. I hoped to understand what that meant. And to find out what progress would mean. Though I perhaps did not know the word I sought for at the time.
Liiraluma says: It’s allowed to take on new meanings.
Zagarra says: Now I seek understanding. To know why he gave me these words, but did the things he has done. Where… what am I supposed to do next?

Luma crossed their arms.

Liiraluma says: When we find him, as I’m sure this movement will draw him out if he’s here, lets talk after. Because one person’s idea of progress is not always the same definition, and understanding is a stepping stone in the word itself.

Zagarra nodded.

Zagarra says: I did not see this path if you asked me a year ago. Yet here I stand.

Luma chuffed and motioned around. Zagarra nodded, and she seemed very contemplative, but is thankful for Luma sharing their insights, and seemed understanding of Luma’s own resentment toward her.

Zagarra says: May rest find you.

Zagarra continued the path out the door as Luma sat down at the desk and laid their head down, trying to process their own thoughts as they tossed a stress ball across the room. Teemo walked in and picked up the stress ball, casting a curious look after Zagarra.

The night before the siege was going to take place, Vel had made arrangements with Gelbin Mekkatorque to create an illusion over Rustbolt, and fliers had been sent out to the various citizens to explain what would happen to ensure no one would panic.

Vel had climbed up onto a vantage point on top of one of the buildings, where she channeled her magic into a series of arcane circles and runes at her feet and in the air around her. At the end of the casting, she blew into her hand, and a mist rapidly flowed from her palm and swept down the building and through the streets of Rustbolt. As it covered the streets and rose up the sides of buildings, it constructed itself into an illusion that covered the entire city. A crowd had formed when Vel started to cast to watch her.

Each district was changed into representations of various sights she could recall from Azeroth, so that even the gnomes that wouldn’t get the chance to see the Promised Land if they fell in the conflict would at least get the chance to see some fragment of it.

One was a replica of a market street in Lordaeron. Another resembled Silvermoon before it fell. Another one was a natural landscape that resembled the massive trees of Ashenvale, where the gnomish homes were built into the trunks of various trees and the starlit boughs spread above them. Another area was Winterspring, and the streets were awash with snow that was cool to touch, though not frigid like a true winter would be. Each district had a similar image.

There were gasps of shock and awe. Gnomish families spread out to explore in complete wonder. Snowmen were built and snowball fights were had.

Kinndy wandered through a section that looked like Dalaran, and she looked up at the beautiful lanterns, and then over to where Vel was, and she smiled and mouthed “This is beautiful”.

Elissa watched down the street of Lordaeron with a fond look. Thal’ena had stepped up on a stage in the Silvermoon area and started a song and dance performance. Motah wandered through the areas that resembled Kalimdor in wonder up until a snowball made by Teemo smacked him in the side of the head. However, soon after, Teemo was bowled over by a massive snowball that Luma had created with the aid of a makeshift launcher they had quickly thrown together.

Uther wandered through the simulacrum of Lordaeron and experienced fond homesickness, and Elissa squeezed his hand.

Elissa Cross says: Hey. We’ll be back before you know.
Uther Menethil says: I know. I know. It’s just hard not to miss it. Hard not to worry for it.

Elissa gave him a gentle smile.

Elissa Cross says: I know. I’m worried too. Everything is so different… and all our friends… and our…

She shook her head.

Elissa Cross says: But we’re not alone. We have friends there, and once we make our way back home, we’ll be able to walk through the streets again for real.
Uther Menethil says: Something to look forward to.

Elissa looked around with a wistful sadness in her own eyes, as she realized her own home wasn’t one she could go back to. But there was a resolved warmth on her face regardless, as the definition of home had to change sometimes.

Elissa Cross says: Hey, I have an idea. What if we bought out Radiant and Daisy. We could have a little parade through the streets!
Uther Menethil says: I think that’s a wonderful idea.

As they conjured their steeds, Radiant looked around, baffled.

Radiant says: I daresay, Uther, have we been transported back to Loraderon somehow?
Uther Menethil says: Not quite, but Vel’s quite good at what she does, isn’t she?
Radiant says: I’d say so! The carrots even taste the same!
Uther Menethil says: What do you say, Radiant? Would you like a parade through the streets?
Radiant says: Verily!

Luma was walking around with Teemo, musing that they had not been to many of the places there. Teemo offered to show them around the Dalaran section and made a mental note to have a Dalaran date night… if they continued dating after they left the Timeless Isle of course.

Vel had transformed into a raven and had flitted around to people watch. Motah saw her and waved, not realizing it was her, and she fluffed back at him in acknowledgement. He smiled, noting she was quite a fluffy bird.

Later on, the group met up at Gelbin Mekkatorque’s chambers to discuss the plans for the next day. There was a table with a sophisticated hallucinatory projector at the center of it. Most of the gnomish leadership was also gathered. Mekkatorque, Kelsey Steelspark, Elgin Clickspring, Ini Stormcoil, Captain Sparknozzle, Kinndy, Doctora Cogspring, Silco Thermaplugg, Ressa Shadeshine, and Watcher Osu, who was sitting down at the table while the others were standing. In addition, there were both Anachronos and Soridormi in their visage forms, who were also seated politely.

Kelsey Steelspark says: Right on time! Glad that you could all make it. We’re about to patch into Admin to get the details on his end of everything.
Velameestra windrunner says: Excellent.
Ini Stormcoil says: Just another second there…

Suddenly, the projector whirred to life, and they saw the holographic image of Erazmin, the son of Arcturus Mechagon.

Erazmin Mechagon says: Admin reporting in, good to see that you’re all on schedule. Preparations on my end are going according to plan. They should be finished soon. How are things on your end?
Kelsey Steelspark says: Things are prepared on our end. We’re prepared to start operation Mechagon as soon as possible.
Erazmin Mechagon says: Indeed. Then we should speak about the operation itself. About our priorities and how things will operate.

His image got very small as a holographic image of the entire island appeared instead. Small markers for points of interest materialized at each location.

Erazmin Mechagon says: This is the Island of Mechagon. And these are the various ingresses we’ve identified that will lead us to the lower level of the city. These ones are those that Thermaplugg and his forces have identified as out of use… we’ll be separating our forces into a number of strike teams. Thermaplugg and some of our covert ops will infiltrate the city while the bulk of our forces will strike from these trajectories.

Arrows pointed from various different locations.

Erazmin Mechagon says: This is the man entrance. It’s the easiest to enter, but the most guarded. We intend to draw as much attention to this region so the other tunnels that lead into the undercity will be less guarded.

The image went below the ground, and the group was greeted with a complex super structure that looked to be an expansive city with dozens upon hundreds of streets and districts all rendered.

Erazmin Mechagon says: Former Chief Architect Walton Cogfrenzy supplied us with blueprints. While this is from the original creation, our scouts have amended them to be as accurate as possible. With the aid of Thermaplugg’s faction, it’s 94.7% accurate. We’ll have to trust our operatives to improvise on the remaining 4.3% that may deviate from this blueprint. I’ve insured an illusory copy of this has been sent over to multiple factions, so that you have a portable version. Please ensure it is linked to your vital signs so that it can be purged if you are compromised. Each of our teams have been informed of the most present and important targets. As for team Omega, that’s you, by the way.

He looked at the party.

Erazmin Mechagon says: Your main priority is infiltrating the Archforge.

The image zoomed in on the massive super structure at the heart of Mechagon city. It sparked with electricity.

Erazmin Mechagon says: The Arcforge is the preeminent production facility of weapons. It is also where my father’s seat of power is located, and where the mech origination research is taking place, as well as the heart of Mimir. If we can take the Arcforge and take down my father, then this battle is won. But doing that won’t be easy. While you could make a direct line straight into it, doing so will be difficult without first sabotaging the city in what ways we can. But this will remain our priority. We should expect my father to react to the offensive. From when the operation begins, I’ll be putting a 1200 hour cap on the operation. If we do not take the Arcforge by the end of that period, the retaliation would be too great and the battle will be lost. That being said, before Omega squadron takes the Arcforge, there are a number of points of interest that you may be able to assist with. I will leave it in your dominion which of these tasks you decide to assist in, as we will have other teams aiding independently. That said, should you be able to aid, it may give us an edge we need.

About a dozen points of interest materialized on the map.

Erazmin Mechagon says: In no order of importance, we have our secondary objectives.

Four of the icons lit up. One of them was a large factory that was larger than the Arcforge, but not quite as tall.

Erazmin Mechagon says: This is the High Tinkertory, also referred to as the Machinist’s Garden. This region is where much of the war mechs are created, and where subjects who have undergone forced mechanization are brought to be outfitted with weaponry. Taking the Machinist’s Garden will cut off their supply lines. Additionally, there is another reason…

The image transformed into a massive floating monstrosity, that was the same hunter killer the party had escaped.

Erazmin Mechagon says: The HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit charging station is located on one of the roofs. As long as the Oppression Unit is in operation, we will have a severe limitation in our offense. This will be especially dangerous for our draconic allies, whose greatest strength is to fight from the air. Despite our efforts, we have been unable to develop a weapon that can incapacitate it, but we have another course of action that may prove useful.

Erazmin looked over to Gelbin.

Gelbin Mekkatorque says: The current Tinkmaster of Mechagon, the one who took my position, is a man named Oki Overspark. He was my apprentice. One of my most gifted. I cannot believe he is operating complicitly. I believe that he could be reasoned with, and I believe that should we find ourselves able to speak with, he may be able to be convinced to aid us.
Elgin Clickspring says: I shall be accompanying a small group infiltrating the Tinkertory in order to interface with Oki Overspark directly. I will be carrying a communication device so that Master Mekkatorque can speak with him, but if you and your companions can lend aid, I’m certain it won’t be unappreciated. Even should Oki Overspark have a way to disable the Oppression Unit, I wager it would not be simple.
Erazmin Mechagon says: Indeed. I’ve not been able to make a direct line to Overspark, but he seems… amenable. Should you be able to convince him, all the better. If not, I would suggest you get what we need to disable the HK unit by any means necessary. I’ll leave it to your discretion.

Gelbin looked even older in that moment.

The next location was a seemingly unassuming building that looked to be some sort of warehouse.

Erazmin Mechagon says: Despite it’s appearance, this is the Mechagon Covert Ops headquarters. I’m certain you can imagine why such a place would be a priority.
Kelsey Steelspark says: Taking over the headquarters will be my primary objective. I’ll bring my best operatives along to try and incapacitate the headquarters and ensure they can’t respond. That said, any support you can offer would be ideal. Even a loud distraction could be useful for other reasons. Should we be able to do so, we’ll be able to spread propaganda and jam their communications, making it hard for them to respond to threats and our movements.

The next location was a beautiful multi-tiered mansion that looked to have magicked statues and obelisks all around it.

Erazmin Mechagon says: This is the Enlightened Assembly of Arcanology, Alchemy and Engineering Sciences, the major magical college of Mechagon City. The Assembly itself is led by Millhouse Manastorm. He comes from an infamous line. His father, the previous leader, became one of the most dangerous and volatile criminals in Mechagon’s history. Millhouse banished him to a pocket dimension. His assistance in countering the dimensional magics my father is employing may be useful, as well as any ideas he has to get back to the Promised Land. The Assembly Leader’s allegiance is one of convenience, we’ve been led to believe. He’s a prideful man. We’ve been unable to convince him, but given the correct circumstances, you may be able to do so. I’m leaving it to Kinndy Sparkshine to determine how to do such a thing, but if you assist her, I’m sure you’ll succeed given your own expertise in arcana and artifice. If we can do such, I have reason the rapid transit technology to deploy reinforcements will be hindered, and we will be able to take control of. Not to mention, the assistance of the mages will be invaluable. The final secondary objective… is located in a region within the undercity of Mechagon. It a region often used for waste disposal, and is called the Underjunk. Because this location is intrinsic to the foundation of Mechagon, we have identified a number of key locations that, if sabotaged, could provide significant advantages if explosives were detonated at hte appropriate junctures. Miss Shadeshine.

Ressa Shadeshine stepped forward.

Ressa Shadeshine says: Myself and some of my own teams will be descending under here. There’s an old pumping station that is largely abandoned but close to the foundations of the Arcforge. If we could plant some explosives, we may be able to turn the tides in a profound way. While I’m certain we can accomplish this ourselves, I won’t be opposed to having some muscle watching our backs. There’s no telling what automated defenses we may encounter.

The last series of smaller objectives appeared.

Erazmin Mechagon says: These are tertiary objectives. You can accomplish them should you decide to make time.

There were places listed as Ampvolt Arcade, the Bowelworks, Cogwrench Alley, and Election Heights

Erazmin Mechagon says: These are some of the most densely populated regions of the city, thus they are ideal places to manipulate the tide of battle in what ways we find necessary. Should you need to cover your tracks to lower the heat on your backs, sabotage various activities, or spread propaganda, these are the ideal locations. Should you choose to attempt a mission, however, you will want to be cautious, as the more attention you draw to yourselves, the more likely it is you’ll be discovered. Our objectives are to sabotage Mechagon’s strength, and turn the people against the Mechagon. If we accomplish this, bringing down King Arcturus will be easier. But be ready for anything.

Erazmin looked back at the group.

Erazmin Mechagon says: We’ve identified a safe ingress that should take you to a series of penthouses in the outskirts of election heights. Within there is a safe house. The domicile of Master Cogfrenzy. He is sympathetic to our cause, and is willing to allow Omega Squad to use his penthouse as a base of operations should you need to recuperate or plan an offense. Some of Kelsey Steelspark’s men will ensure you can get through the appropriate ingresses at 900 hours. The operation begins at 1200 hours. That gives you three hours to synchronize with other teams. Any questions?

There weren’t any questions of note.

Erazmin Mechagon says: In that case, as I said, Operation Mechagon begins in 1200 hours. I look forward to meeting you all in person after we emerge from this successful. Admin out.

The projection disappeared.

Kelsey Steelspark says: Well? You heard the man. Lets get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a big day.

Time-Lost Day 190

The next day, the group awakened. Rustbolt was in a state of preparation, and the squads gathered together. A small gnome they had not encountered before approached the party and pulled his hood down. He had a well-maintained mustache and beard, and a shaved head with some mechanized implants.

Scabbs Cutterbutter says: So you’re Omega squad, ey? Agent Scabbs Cutterbutter at your service. I’ll be making sure you get to your base of operations before I join Miss Steelspark. Stick with me and I’ll make sure you get there nice and quiet.

The group was led to an old abandoned ingress. It took about two hours to make it to the tunnels, but soon, they found themselves on the outskirts of what appeared to be the city proper. As they emerged from the small side tunnels, they got their first look at the actual city itself. Steam and smoke and lights were drifting upwards for more than a mile. There were holographic images and signs all over that seemed to be street signs, advertisements, and other propaganda. They were led over some of the streets, and they saw some gnomes that were fully mechanized with not a shred of flesh left on them. They appeared to be a police force, and there were alarm bots roaming around as well. People were going about their lives, completely unaware a war was about to unfold. A handful of gnomes looked up at Scabbs as he whistled, and they indicated the area was clear.

Eventually, after a lot of winding climbing and minor acrobatics, they arrived at a well-to-do area, and they could see the Arcforge in the distance.

Scabbs Cutterbutter says: Alright, this is it.

There was no one on the streets in the area. He rapped on a door.

Scabbs Cutterbutter says: I’ll leave the rest to you. Maybe I’ll see you later.

Scabbs fired off a grappling hook which latched onto a rooftop, and he swung out into the city. An older gnome gentleman opened the door. He wasn’t incredibly mechanized, but he had a device in his ear one one of his eyes appeared to be mechanical.

Walton Cogfrenzy says: Oh, you must be the guests I was waiting for. Come in, come in, please. Don’t worry about taking off your boots! I’ve got a little bot to take care of that!

They entered into a charming, gnomish hovel. There was a bell-shaped mech with small feet and tiny eyes that beeped and approached as it opened and revealed a brush and dustpan that swept up any dust that was tracked in. It then sprayed some water and mopped it up.

Walton Cogfrenzy says: Please make yourself comfortable! Can I get you any refreshments? I believe you have a half hour before you have to get going. I have some coffee if you prefer?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Coffee would be lovely.
Walton Cogfrenzy says: Of course, ma’am! Please, if you need a place to rest if you are running about your errands, please feel free to come back here.

From the the kitchen, a small bot waddled in. It had a clear, transparent centerpiece, and it was holding a saucer of coffee. It approached Vel.

Household Bot says: Your stimulant, ma’am! Would you like cream with that?
Velameestra Windrunner says: I like it black, thank you.

Luma, however, took some cream.

Household Bot says: You know what they say! Cream that is ice cold, goes with coffee that is so bold!
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Vel, do they say that?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Perhaps here.
Household Bot says: I have just the thing for you!

The bot pulled out a creamsicle and held it out to Gil.

Household Bot says: I analyzed your preferred flavor palette and established this would be preferable!

Gil looked at the treat and just bit into it.

Walton Cogfrenzy says: That reminds me! I have trinkets for you! Something to help on your outing. Here we are.

The gnome held out a small device.

Walton Cogfrenzy says: This should help throw off scanners. At least once. It’ll falter if you get into a scrap, but it should help to mask you and your companions. You can recharge it with your own means.

They rested for a bit, but then they felt the earth tremble.

Walton Cogfrenzy says: Well. That’s the signal. Good luck, all of you. Remember, my door is open to you. May the Makers guide your path. May we all make it out of here on the other side of this little difficulty.

The man gave them a genuine, but sad smile as the group went to leave.

High above the surface, Operation Mechagon began in earnest. There was the sound of warring battle machines as the forces of the Rustbolt Resistance, the afflicted gnomes, the yaungol, and the bronze dragonflight joined forces. A gnomish battlefield roared over the area, and various sewers and ingress were infiltrated. The Ordon yaungol began a great chant and bolts of fire started to rain down on the topside bases of Mechagon. Rustbolt Resistance fighters with blades and circular saw weapons and firearms were skirmishing with the mechanized forces of King Mechagon. Some of the gangs of leper gnomes charged in, and dragons breathed shocks of lightning and sand across the area. One of the great dragons flew over, and the metal of one of the great war machines rusted apart and fell to nothingness. A massive mechanical scorpion, the love child of Ini Stormcoil, skittered forward and slammed into one of the topside fortress gates as its claws tore into the metal. Its stinger, a massive drill, began to pierce through the fortifications.

Within the city itself, the forces that had infiltrated began their own missions to sabotage and spread counter propaganda.

They had agreed to go to the Mechagon Covert Ops headquarters. Vel used the contraption Cogfrenzy had given them, and they all resembled gnomes. Vel looked largely like herself. Gil had spiked fiery hair. Luma vaguely resembled Teemo. Uther looked like a chibi version of himself.

They were able to make very good time when they headed over to the nondescript building. No one paid much mind to the group as they passed by. A voice echoed over the loudspeakers.

Mechagon Loudspeaker says [gnim]: People of Mechagon, we are experiencing an unexpected seismic phenomenon. Please do not be alarmed. I repeat. We are experiencing unexpected seismic activity. There is nothing to worry about. Please, go about your day. Praise King Mechagon.

The group were able to bypass various checkpoints thanks to Vel memorizing the map the prior night. Before long, they arrived at the covert ops warehouse. They heard a whistle, and they saw Scabbs, who gestured for them to come over. They met with him, Kelsey, and several other operatives.

Kelsey Steelspark says: It’s great to see you! I’m pretty touched you came to help us first.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Disrupting their communications would be useful.
Kelsey Steelspark says: I’m glad you think so! Our plan is to sneak in. Those of you who can move discreetly, if you can move with us, we can debilitate their defenses and take over the comms while making as few waves as possible. The quieter the better. Those of you who are less confident in your abilities to move around unnoticed… well, I’ll let you improvise. Keep their eyes off us, and we’ll take care of what we can.

Vel, Luma, and Gil decided to go with the gnomes, and Vel shifted into her mist form and slipped through the air vents. Meanwhile, Gil turned invisible and was able to slip by a handful of guards and agents that were walking the halls. Luma zipped up their coat, and promptly disappeared as they used their cloaking device. Two mechagnome agents looked in their direction, but they didn’t seem to have seen them.

Uther, meanwhile, wandered up to the warehouse with a crate and started to ask questions as if he was lost. The mechanized gnomes follow after him, trying to speak to him in the gnomish language.

Uther Menethil says: Last minute shipment changes! Always at the end of the shift and now I don’t know where this crate is supposed to go.

One of the guards switched to common.

Mechanized Guard says: What seems to be the problem, citizen? This area is off limits.
Uther Menethil says: I don’t doubt you! I was told to take this crate to warehouse B. I don’t remember there being a warehouse B. This is a warehouse, right?
Mechanized Guard says: If you are looking for warehouse B, why did you come to warehouse A? You asked if this was A warehouse?
Uther Menethil says: A warehouse. This one of the warehouses!

The mechanized guards were looking at him as the other warehouse workers were shooting them daggers.

Mechanized Guard says: Do you have the address?
Uther Menethil says: I went to ask where warehouse B was, but then the foreman said that he doesn’t pay me enough to ask questions. He doesn’t pay me at all.
Mechanized Guard says: What is the designation of this foreman? If he isn’t paying you, that is a violation of Section C article 117, and we can lodge a formal complaint.

Seria shifted into a rat and also slipped in to keep an eye out for danger.

Inside the complex, Vel used her mist form to try and obfuscate the vision of the scrying censors and various cameras with her body. It gave several of the infiltration teams an opportunity to slip in and loop feeds. She literally looked like a glitch in the system.

Meanwhile, Luma used [Digital Phantom] to help hack into the systems and Gil was working to locate and incapacitate guards.

Kelsey Steelspark says: Alright, I’m in. They shouldn’t know I’m here. Get Omega team out of here. I’ll lock down the doors and ensure no one pokes around.

As Seria watched, she noticed that it appeared that the warehouse gnomes were starting to get very antsy and had started to consider silencing going to need to get going quickly. Uther continued to talk and spin his story, and one of the two guards started to sympathize with Uther and decided to try and help direct him as he noted it was absurd that his foreman sent him to perform a task without the tools needed to complete it.

Vel quickly looked over Kelsey’s shoulder at the camera feeds and the reports they were receiving as well as the map she had memorized, and she was able to infer the best direction to go to avoid as many of the remaining guards as possible.

Luma tried to slip out, and she bumped into a group of guards, but they were able to swiftly incapacitate them and get out. Gil did a few appearing and disappearing acts to distract some of the guards and redirect their focus with confusion as he left.

Meanwhile, outside, Uther nodded along with the guards.

Uther Menethil says: You know what? You guys are right. I’m not being set up for success! I’m worth more than that. I’m going to quit. In fact, I’m quitting right now! Thanks guys!

He set down the crate and started to saunter off like he won something.

Mechanized Guard says [gnim]: You know, he has a point… we aren’t treated fairly either.
Warehouse Mechagnome says [gnim]: Agent 67, you realize what you’re saying is treason, yes?
Mechanized Guard says [gnim]: I don’t care if it is! The mandatory mechanization? The grueling hours? What’s Mechagon going to have us do next!?

Another warehouse worker shot a stun taser at the guard, but then the warehouse erupted into a brawl as one half rose against the other. Using the disruption, Seria used [Blink] to cover some of the distance and escape the warehouse. A mechanized gnome saw her, but she leaped up into his mechanized eye and damaged it with her teeth, giving an opening for some other gnomes to tackle him and give her the opportunity to escape.

Suddenly, there is a high pitched sound, and Luma felt a whisk of air as a high powered blast almost hit them. There were chatters of communication as the alert of a sniper was rallied, and Scabbs quickly ducked in and took out the sniper.

Omega squad then decided to head to the mage college next, and once again they were able to make very good time. They were now seeing that the general mood around Mechagon was getting more disquieted. The “seismic events” were happening with more frequency, and smoke was rising from various points of the city.

As they arrived, they were able to rendezvous with Kinndy Sparkshine.

Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: Howdy strangers! Lovely day we’re having today?
Velameestra Windrunner says [gnim]: Hello Kinndy.

Kinndy sighed in relief.

Kinndy Sparkshine says: Okay, I’m glad it was you. I’m glad you could make it. I just got here myself. I should be able to get us into the main hall to speak with the assembly leader, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to convince him alone. I’ve never been the best at convincing people with strong personalities…
Velameestra Windrunner says: Fortunately that’s what Uther’s for.
Kinndy Sparkshine says: Well I can get the door at least! It’s good to be back. I haven’t been here in a long time.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Lead the way.

Kinndy nodded and approached the door. She held out a graduation ID. There was a mechanized arcane golem walking around the front. It had a mortar board with the symbol of the academy on its head.

Arcane Golem says [gnim]: Welcome! We are currently not accepting guest visits, but if you want to schedule a tour, I’m happy to provide the forum. If you have other queries, state “Query”.
Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: Query!
Arcane Golem says [gnim]: Very well, present your ID!

Kinndy did so.

Arcane Golem says [gnim]: Ah, welcome back Miss Kinndy Sparkshine– Alert. Kinndy Sparkshine has been identified as a renegade. Please report to the Assembly Head for further instructions. If you would please follow me.
Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: Ah. That’s one way to do it.

Several animated objects started to float around the group as a formal escort, the academy now on high alert. They were brought to the main hall. There were a few mechanized mages wandering around, discussing what was going on. At the center was a statue of a gnomish man with magic coursing around his hands.

Arcane Golem says [gnim]: Warning. Warning. Students, please keep your distance. Please keep your distance. We are transporting a wanted fugitive. Please keep your distance.

Kinndy waved nervously at the confused students.

Gilveradin Windrunner says: We’d be happy to answer questions!
Arcane Golem says [gnim]: No questions.

The group was brought into a massive lecture hall with huge multi-tiered seats. A lecture was actively going on. At the very center of the ampitheter was a massive arcane circle surrounded by symbols congruent with the schools of magic. At the center of the circle was a finely dressed gnome who looked almost exactly like the statue outside.

He was conjuring arcane orbs that were floating in the air. He clapped them in the air and made a singularity.

Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: And that, my wonderful students, is why evocation is the best school of magic!
Assembly Student says [gnim]: Assembly leader Manastorm… just last week you said it was conjuration. And before that was abjuration.
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Yes! Because every school is the best once you master it as I have! I am sure each and everyone of of you will be able to master the schools in your way! But with that–
Arcane Golem says [gnim]: Attention Assembly Leader Millhouse Manastorm, we have captured a fugitive!
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Can’t you see I’m in the middle of something?
Arcane Golem says [gnim]: Of course, assembly leader.
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Don’t you want to leave?
Arcane Golem says [gnim]: No. It’sprotocol to stay and watch the fugitive.
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Fine. Everyone, take an early lunch. Wait. Sparkshine. Kinndy Sparkshine? What are you doing back here?
Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: Funny you mention that…
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Last I heard you joined those terrorists! You’re not here to do something untoward, are you?
Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: No! I just wanted to talk.
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: You could have sent me a sending or something? Not just marching through the gates. Imagine what the king would do! You’re a wanted criminal!
Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: I didn’t know that!
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Well what am I supposed to do? It’s my responsibility to… you’re not going to make me turn you in now, are you?
Kinndy Sparkshine says [gnim]: Please, just listen if you would!

Kinndy looked at the group, searching for help.

Velameestra Windrunner says: We were under the impression you were investigating a way to the Promised Land.

Millhouse furrowed his brow.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Now what would give you that idea, miss? Do I know you? You don’t look like any graduate I’ve ever seen, and I have a pretty good memory for these sorts of things.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Not a graduate. Simply an interested party that heard about your accomplishments.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Heh! Well that’s not too surprising. I do have quite a few accomplishments under my belt.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Mastery of all schools of magic being one, from what I heard of your lecture.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Yes! Of course. I’ve spent many a year training to master all of the major schools of the arcane.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Then surely I wouldn’t be *mistaken* in what I’ve heard regarding someone such as yourself looking into the curious nature of the island?
Millhouse Manastorm says: No, of course not, and I was partially responsible for banishing my insane father yo a pocket dimension to save us all from complete and utter destruction… wait a minute! You’re trying to distract me, aren’t you!?
Velameestra Windrunner says: No, information on that research is exactly what we’re looking for.

Millhouse squinted at her.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Wait a moment… you and the rest of you, you’re with those terrorists too, aren’t you?
Uther Menethil says: Terrorist is such an unfortunate word.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Well that’s what Arcturus, I mean, his Majesty calls you.
Velameestra Windrunner says: We’re more prisoners of this land, technically. We hail from Azeroth.

Millhouse’s eyes widened and he cast [Detect Magic], registering the illusion upon them.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Oh. I see. You’re not as short as you’re making yourselves seem, are you?
Velameestra Windrunner says: We would be quite a noteworthy sight, normally.
Liiraluma says: If tall and purple means anything to you.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Well purple is my favorite color.

Millhouse considered for a long moment.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Alright, so you claim you’re from the Promised Land, and you made your way in here. Alright. You wouldn’t be the first ones… that’s interesting. That’s very interesting. Alright. So what did you come here for? Was it just to learn about that?
Velameestra Windrunner says: We have reason to believe his Majesty Arcturus Mechagon may be holding a way out.

Millhouse chewed his lip and laughed nervously.

Millhouse Manastorm says: I’m not at liberty to talk about government secrets. I’d get in a *lot* of trouble if it got back that I did that…
Velameestra Windrunner says: That implies there’s even a government to punish you.

Millhouse looked at Vel, and then noticed a few of the students were still straggling by the door.

Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: What are you doing? Get out of here! Shoo!

Millhouse used [Vortex Warp]% to teleport them out of the room.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Looks like terrorists weren’t too far off after all… those tremors aren’t just tremors, are they?
Velameestra Windrunner says: No.
Millhouse Manastorm says: What’s going on?
Uther Menethil says: Revolution.
Velameestra Windrunner says: There’s a war on the surface that your king is refusing to tell anyone about.

Millhouse held up a finger and pulled a scrying orb from his sleeve.

Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Visions of a distant realm, show me if they are pulling my leg!

Millhouse used [Scrying] to look at the surface.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Holy shit!

He immediately ended the spell.

Millhouse Manastorm says: You weren’t kidding! Holy fuck… you even got those pyromaniac yaungol on board?!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: It was actually really easy.
Velameestra Windrunner says: So surely someone like yourself would recognize the opportunity in these circumstances, yes? The options here present, Master Manastorm, are to continue following the current regime and have both your research and your goals stifled–as I assume they have been thus far–or there may be an opportunity for you to reach for something greater.

Millhouse started to mutter to himself as he paced back and forth, considering the circumstance he now found himself in.

Liiraluma says: If we get out of here alive, which I’m certain we will, I can tell you about space travel.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Sold! I guess I’m on team terrorist now. What do you want to know?
Female Voice says [gnim]: Well. Isn’t that perfect then. Now I won’t even need a reason or excuse as to why I blew you into a thousand pieces, Millhouse.

A voice echoed through the chamber, and Millhouse looked around.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Oh no. Oh noooo.

Walking through the doors was another gnome who had a mechanical device in her hand. She had a handful of mechanical animals that followed after and climbing up the walls and onto the seats.

Female Gnome says [gnim]: It’s one thing for everything you’ve done to me darling, but now it’s sedition? I’d say I couldn’t get more disappointed, but that would be a lie.
Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Uh… hi, Millie… good to see you.
Millificent Manastorm says [gnim]: Keep that name out of your mouth!
Millhouse Manastorm says: Everyone… I’d like to introduce you to my beautiful, intelligent, striking wife, Millificent.
Millificent Manastorm says: Charmed. So you’re a part of the Rustbolt Resistance are you?
Uther Menethil says: Prefer the term revolution, but yes.
Millificent Manastorm says: Of course. I’m not surprised you were able to convince my dimwitted husband.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: He’s literally a wizard…
Millificent Manastorm says: I meant what I said.
Velameestra Windrunner says: So. How are things going to go from here?
Millificent Manastorm says: I suppose that depends on what you have to say.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: That you’re clearly underappreciated? And that we could have a place for you that you deserve?
Millificent Manastorm says: I’m already one of the most gifted sappers in the covert ops. I don’t need much in the way of personal accolades.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: You deserve a few different things.

Millificent smirked.

Millificent Manastorm says: You know Millhouse, you could learn a thing or two about how to talk to a woman from this one. No, what I want is quite simple. I just want to blow the sniveling little coward behind you up topside, and wipe his smug face off Mechagon once and for all. It’s not that serious.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Did he do something… particularly foolish?
Millhouse Manastorm says: I… forgot her anniversary.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Oh, you idiot.
Millificent Manastorm says: And my birthday!
Gilveradin Windrunner says: I don’t know if we can save you.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Millie! Baby!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Wouldn’t it… be easier to just get a divorce?

Both Millificent and Millhouse looked at Vel and snapped “No” at the same time. Luma had opened their mouth to say the same exact thing Vel did, and then closed it. They then exchanged a look with Vel.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Millie, baby, I told you I’d make it up to you! These fine folks want to go to the Promised Land! They said they can take us into space! You want to see space, don’t you? I’ll buy a star for you if you want!
Millificent Manastorm says: You’ll just forget again!
Velameestra Windrunner says: If you’re a master of all magic, can’t you just make a ''geas' promise to her?
Millhouse Manastorm says: I can! I can do that! Cross my heart and hope to die!
Velameestra Windrunner says: And if he lies he probably will.

Millificent furrowed her brow.

Millificent Manastorm says: Not if he uses magic to weasel his way out of it.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: What if we create a more thorough contract?
Millhouse Manastorm says: Anything you want! I miss you Millie! …and I don’t want to get blown up… but I miss you!
Millificent Manastorm says: What was that part?
Millhouse Manastorm says: I said I missed you!
Gilveradin Windrunner says: You need to shut up. We are trying very hard to help you, and you are making it very difficult.

Millificent tapped her foot and crossed her arms.

Millificent Manastorm says: Alright. What sort of promise did you have in mind, then? Make it worth my while.

There was a quiet ticking noise coming from all the mechanical animals.

The deal that was offered to Millificent was that, once they got to the Promised Land, Millhouse would set up another magic academy that would be dedicated entirely to her, he would have to take her on a one month second honeymoon where she called all the shots, and that would also all be encompassed in a geas that someone else would be casting on him where it could be setup that Millificent would immediately know if he used magic to remove the enchantment.

Millhouse was visibly wincing with each demand.

Liiraluma says: I’m starting to feel better about my exes...

Millificent tapped her foot.

Millificent Manastorm says: One year.
Millhouse Manastorm says: A year?! A year honeymoon?!

Gil put a hand on Millhouse’s shoulder with enough pressure to tell him to shut up.

Millificent rolled her eyes.

Millificent Manastorm says: Fine. Six months. And you have to give my a shoulder massage every night. And a foot massage every other night.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Is that just… during the six months or–
Millificent Manastorm says: No!
Millhouse Manastorm says: …Gotcha.

Millhouse looked at the group and then around at the ticking animals. He swallowed hard.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Alright, you got it.
Millificent Manastorm says: And! No simulacrums. Or mirror images. If you try to send them on a date with me again, ugh! I mean… unless… unless it’s both of you. In that case, I mean… you get the point!

Vel blinked and Luma raised their eyebrows.

Millificent Manastorm says: But yeah, no simulacrums or mirror images!
Velameestra Windrunner says: No magical duplicates in general.
Millificent Manastorm says: Yes!

Millhouse snapped his fingers.

Millhouse Manastorm says: It’s worth it to see you smile, honey… and to not get blown up… but mostly to see you smile!
Gilveradin Windrunner says: Do you actually love her or…
Millificent Manastorm says: Oh Millhouse!

Millificent ran over and threw her arms around Millhouse.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Wait wait, so you are all from the Promised Land… yeah, you’re right. Arcturus, his Majesty, the guy you’re trying to kill… are you going to help them with that now?

He looked at Millificent who shrugged.

Millificent Manastorm says: Sure. I don’t see why not. Kelsey Steelspark is with you right? Where’d she run off to? Or is that secret? Actually, don’t tell me.
Gilveradin Windrunner says: More fun for you that way?

Millificent winked at him.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Yeah, Arcturus was having us looking into the nature of this place. He doesn’t control it. He wants to bring it down as well. He wants to bring it outside this place. He wants to mechanize everything. I don’t know if I like that idea… if he turns everything mechanized… I dunno. It doesn’t sit right. I like keeping my fleshy bits a bit.

Millificent gets an inappropriate smile and he blushed.

Millhouse Manastorm says: Regardless, we’ve been looking into it! Our conjuration expert has been looking into it… our specific master of conjuration! There’s a master of each school that specializes in them, and I oversee all of them. Rin Lostspanner is our conjuration expert. She’s uh… a little different.
Liiraluma says: I know that last name like I know pain…
Millhouse Manastorm says: She could give you more information! Needless to say, we’ve been trying to open it. There’s a wall of sorts. Something else is keeping it in. We’re not sure what it is, but it’s not under our control. Arcturus believes his benefactor… I don’t know why he didn’t tell me who that was, but he’s pretty tight lipped… dunno if the benefactor knows, but regardless, he’s been interfacing with Mimir to try and find that information. Rin said she was approaching a breakthrough. You can probably ask her, maybe?
Velameestra Windrunner says: The other people that passed through, what happened to them?
Millhouse Manastorm says: Right! Jaina I think was the woman’s name… I spoke with her briefly. Thought she was a gnome too for the first bit. She was something else, let me tell you. I mean impressive magically! That’s it! Horribly unattractive! But yeah, they were asking similar questions. They ended up trying to get into the Arcforge and I’m not sure what happened after that. They said they were going to try and speak to this Benefactor.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Got it. And where is Rin right now?
Millhouse Manastorm says: She’s in the main conjuration room right now, I can take you to her.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Excellent. And if you don’t mind shutting down teleportation access for everyone else in the meanwhile?
Millhouse Manastorm says: Sure. If you all want to use it, we can just hook it up to help the terroris– I mean the resistance, the revolution! That’s who we’re fighting with.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Most appreciated.
Millhouse Manastorm says: Follow right this way!

Millhouse looked to the guard bot.

Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Oh! Verser! Sparkshine was never here.
Verser says [gnim]: Understood! Returning to original post. Have a wonderful day everyone!
Millhouse Manastorm says: Magic! You know if you’re interested, I’d be happy to give you a tour… but not right now!

He led the group to one of the other chambers, and as they made their way to the door, they heard something on the other side of the door. It was chanting… in eredun.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Do you teach demonology here, Master Manastorm?
Millhouse Manastorm says: What? No no… well, theory yes, but not… oh. Fuck.

Manastorm fumbled for his keys and then flung open the door. Beyond the doorway was a circle of gnomes standing in a circle that was drawn eredun.

Millhouse Manastorm says [gnim]: Rin! What the devil are you doing in here!?

An older, raven-haired gnome with purple robes was leading the channeling. She had bright violet eyes.

Rin Lostspanner says [gnim]: Don’t you see, Master Manastorm? I finally found the way to break down the barrier and free us from this prison! I should thank those revolutionaries! The confluence of blood was exactly what we needed! Continue the ritual everyone!

The started to chant in eredun again, violet and fel energy channeling around her. Another older gnome looked unsure.

Older Gnome says [gnim]: We should stop!
Rin Lostspanner says [gnim]: No! We can’t stop now!
Older Gnome says [gnim]: I’m putting a stop to this!

Rin raised a hand, and a massive blue, shadowy, muscular arm reached out and grabbed the older gnome.

Older Gnome says [gnim]: Rin! What are you-!?

The arm pulled the older gentleman into the portal, and he disappeared. One of the younger mages dropped to her knees.

Gnomish Woman says [gnim]: Wilfred! Shit! We need to stop this now!

Rin started to cackle wildly, and the other gnomes backed up as a powerful essence tried to pull its way through the portal. Vel saw a glimpse of the demon beyond the portal–it was very powerful, one that Vel had seen before. It was a pit lord.

The younger gnome that had dropped to her knees seemed to have been related to Wilfred had choppy green hair. She was clearly distraught. An even younger gnome was also nearby with red ponytails and goggle-like mechanized eyes. She had a wide grin on her face.

Young Gnome says [gnim]: Cool.
