Paladin: Oath of the Valkyrie

The Oath of the Valkyrie is one that shares its birth with the rise of necromancy. Referred to as Reapers to those who refuse their mortality, paladins that swear upon this oath accept their limited time within the world and wish to uphold the inevitability of death. They vow enmity against the beings who bestow themselves corrupted immortality, their fervor for the destruction of undead the strongest compared to other oaths. Those who aid these paladins in their struggles rarely die in battle, blessed to die instead when they are needed on the other side.

Tenets of the Valkyrie

A Paladin of the oath of the Valkyrie is sworn to uphold these tenets.

  • Life is Finite. Life in this realm is meant to be limited. Stop mortals who seek immortality, and destroy those who have gained it through corrupt ways.
  • Overcome Battle. You are bound to die of natural causes, not by shed blood. Ensure your allies die the same.
  • Live to the Fullest. You have little time in this realm, and so you must live each day to the fullest. Do not regret what you have or have not done, but instead look forward to what you can still do.
  • Respect the Ancients. Treat the elderly and the dead with upmost respect. They have managed to experience all that there is in the brief time that is life.

Channel Divinity

3rd-level Oath of the Valkyrie feature
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Channel Divinity: Guardian Angel

You can use your Action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing your eyes to glimmer and two luminous, incorporeal wings to sprout from your back. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a Bonus Action. During it, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed, and once on each of your turns, you can deal extra radiant damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra radiant damage equals your paladin level.

Channel Divinity: Undying Victory

Your time to die is not now. Whenever you would be brought to 0 hit points, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. Until the end of your next turn, you cannot be brought to 0 hit points. At the beginning of your next turn, you must make a Constitution saving throw of DC 5 x the number of times you prevented damage in this manner. On a failure, you are Incapacitated until the end of your turn.

Aura of Doom

7th-level Oath of the Valkyrie feature
You give off an aura of doom to your enemies. Whenever a hostile creature within your aura rolls a saving throw, they subtract half your Charisma modifier (rounded up) to the roll.

Gift of Asgard

15th-level Oath of the Valkyrie feature
You are an exemplar among the servants of Valhalla. You may ignore the material components for necromancy spells.

Additionally, you can read all writing, and can understand all spoken languages. Moreover, any creature that can understand a language can understand what you say.

Arbiter of the Fallen

20th-level Oath of the Valkyrie feature
You can assume the form of an emissary of death. As a Bonus Action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend 7 mana to use it again.
