Farstriders
The Farstriders of Silvermoon are comprised of an elite group of rangers that serve to protect the borders of Quel'thalas. They are considered to be valiant and honorable elves, and have long been considered the epitome of selfless dedication by their people. While the Farstriders are based in Silvermoon City, they have several camps and outposts scattered throughout Quel'thalas.
Organization
The Farstriders can trace their roots back to the First Troll Wars when a band of loosely affiliated high elven warriors actively worked together to defend Quel'thalas, and to this day they remain a relatively small but highly skilled group of rangers.
Ranks
- Journeyman - The entry rank into the Farstriders, and also the rank that all potential initiates hold while training. Typically, if a journeyman does not become a full Farstrider after several years of training they are probably not cut for it and instead drop out to join a militia, the normal armed forces, or something similar.
- Farstrider - The highest rank 90% of all Farstriders ever achieve. There is no shame in staying a Farstrider for your entire career, as doing so still proves you have the skills to be among the elitemost agents of the quel'dorei.
- Ranger - The best of the best. Rangers number no more than a hundred at any time.
- Ranger-Captain - The best Rangers are chosen to command squadrons of Farstriders in large sorties, and are usually entrusted with the most dangerous of missions. These rangers number in the dozens.
- Ranger-General of Silvermoon - The de facto leader of the Farstriders and the military commander of Quel'thalas. The Ranger-General is more than just a commander as they are a leader of men and women and have a place at court as much as any magister or councilman. While they are as much a politician as they are a warrior, they are also typically one of the best, if not the best, rangers among the elves.
