September 17th

Uther returned to Greymane Manor following his meeting with Koroth and the ettins, and Tol’vas also returned with Sazzmi Gentlehorn in tow, as he thought that her skills in deception might be useful. Vel gathered the party as well as Halford Ramsey and Galadin in the study of the conjured manor to discuss her and Ramsey’s findings and how to best approach Creed, and it was decided that they would follow up on the offer Creed had extended to subject himself to a zone of truth–even though Vel was quite certain he had a means to circumvent it, and that was why he had offered in the first place.

Vel expressed she had been unable to confirm whether or not Creed was capable of seeing through disguises, but it was decided that Seria would disguise herself as Vel, while Vel would disguise herself as her cousin. Galadin, in the meanwhile, had forgone his own disguise so that Creed couldn’t readily recognize him, and had been sticking to the manor for the most part.

Ramsey suggested that he could just say that he had found “the boy” as he was Gilneas’s lead detective for a reason, that way Vel, while disguised, would have reason to simply accompany them to Creed’s camp.

Uther went to inform Liam of the findings as well, so that the king would be kept aware of the situation, and his men could potentially ensure that any Blackhowl mercenaries within the wall didn’t flood out to reinforce their commander if things got volatile and Creed attempted to recall them.

Liam Greymane says: So. Velameestra’s quite certain this is her man, then?
Uther Menethil says: She certainly seems to be. And I’m inclined to trust her.
Liam Greymane says: I mislike the idea. Hiram Creed has been an ally to Gilneas since well before I was born, but if that is to serve a different master than he must be brought to justice. I will leave it in your hands to deal with the situation. If you can get the man to surrender, all the better, but if you judge he is too dangerous to be left alive, then consider yourself deputized to deliver the king’s justice.
Uther Menethil says: Hopefully it won’t come to that.
Liam Greymane says: I know as little of the politics of dragons as Master Ramsey, but if it is half so bad as you say, then you must ensure that you’re prepared for this confrontation regardless of how it may resolve. Even so, I wish you the best of luck, and I will ensure my most trusted men are keeping an eye on the Blackhowl company. If things get violent, we will do what we can to subdue them. We can at least ensure that if he attempts to recall his forces, fewer will answer. I wish the best, and may the Light guide you and whatever questioning you must do. I need not tell you this of all people, but the men and women under his command, if they are in fact being compelled or manipulated, I simply ask you to try and spare as many as possible.
Uther Menethil says: Of course. We are going to get this resolved with as little bloodshed as possible.
Liam Greymane says: Glad am I to hear it. I shan't keep you any longer. Away, and do what you must.

Uther nodded and returned to get things started. Meanwhile, it had been suggested that Sazzmi try to lure some of the Blackhowl mercenaries away from the camp while using her disguise as an attractive Gilnean woman.

Sazzmi Gentlehorn says: I should be able to… well… it’s not uncommon for camp followers or two to make a visit. I’ll see if I can lure a few out to share a drink or two. Maybe I’ll find some helpers. After all, I’m only one woman.

The disguised satyress looked at the group.

Sazzmi Gentlehorn says: Give me an hour, maybe, and I’ll see how many I can lure away.

Sazzmi was able to get a handful of attractive young ladies and a dashing gentleman, and they did observe her leaving the camp with a few Blackhowl mercenaries. She reported back that the Blackhowl were a tough crowd

Like before, the group approached some of the mercenaries at the edge of camp. The mercenaries looked them over, but then settled on “Vel” and Ramsey.

Blackhowl Mercenary says: You again? I presume you want to talk to the boss?
Halford Ramsey says: That’s correct! We had set up an appointment with him once the prince returned. If you just let him know that his highness Prince Uther has returned, I’m sure he’ll meet with us right away.
Blackhowl Mercenary says: Let me find the boss. Come on in. Hold fast until we can track him down.

The mercenary led them into the camp nearby and before too long, Creed appeared with one of his lieutenants.

Hiram Creed says: Ah. I see you’ve returned. And you’ve brought the whole group, did you? Nice to see you again, Miss Windrunner. Ramsey.
Halford Ramsey says: Indeed.
Hiram Creed says: And your highness, pleasure to see you again as well. I take it your meeting with the ettins went well?
Uther Menethil says: I’d say as well as could be expected.

Creed then looked at disguised Vel.

Hiram Creed says: And I see you found the boy as well.
Disguised Velameestra Windrunner says: Greetin’s, mister.
Halford Ramsey says: When we last spoke, you agreed to subject yourself to a secondary conversation with his highness, yes? He is capable of such a spell as you mentioned, and we thought it wise to have a truthful conversation. If you want to retire to your tent–
Hiram Creed says: I don’t think that’ll be necessary. What needs to be said can be said here and now.

Creed then looked at Uther, who used [Zone of Truth].

Vel suggested over the telepathic bond to retread prior ground.

Halford Ramsey says: When we last spoke, you had informed us that you learned the passphrase from our young associate here?

Creed nodded.

Hiram Creed says: I did. As I said previously, this young lad told me. I presume that’s precisely what he told you as well, isn’t it?
Disguised Velameestra Windrunner says: Yeah. I gave it to him.
Hiram Creed says: Then I suppose that is corroborated, isn’t it?

Vel picked up on the faintest flicker of surprise in Creed’s expression as she confirmed the information, just as Ramsey had suspected there would be.

Halford Ramsey says: I suppose it is, Master Creed.

Vel transmitted to Seria to ask Creed who his Authority was.

Disguised Seria says: As a dragonsworn, who is your Authority?
Hiram Creed says: I’m certain you can understand I’m not at the liberty to reveal that information. Suspicious as it may sound, surely you must understand.
Disguised Seria says: But it is a member of the red dragonflight?

Creed nodded.

Hiram Creed says: Of course it is. I presume you told all of your companions of my true nature. I’ve served the red dragonflight faithfully for many years.
Halford Ramsey says: I’m sure you’ve been informed of our peculiar alliance with the ettins and their missing banner? Would you know anything about that? Just out of curiosity?
Hiram Creed says: Before we go on, would you allow a question of my own?
Halford Ramsey says: Of course.

Creed looked over at Seria.

Hiram Creed says: Are you quite alright, Miss Windrunner? I can’t describe what it is, but you don’t seem like yourself.
Disguised Seria says: You have barely spoken to me, Mister Creed. How would you know what that is?
Hiram Creed says: Fair point. Call it a hunch, then. But if you insist. As for the banner, well… I can’t say I know what happened to it. The importance that the ettins put on their banner is lost to me. I’m certain whatever interaction I’ve had with them has been about as conclusive as the rest of you. Save, perhaps, Master Menethil here.
Halford Ramsey says: When we did speak will the Hillbreaker, she did mention that she had encounter someone that fit your physical description. A drakonid, I believe? I can’t believe there are many around, so you understand why we may be a bit suspect.
Hiram Creed says: It sounds to me like you’ve already made up your mind. You’re hunting for an agent of the black dragonflight. You know that they’re more than capable of seeding themselves amongst folk. Do you truly believe I’m the only one? If they’ve evaded both of us for this long, then certainly they must be skilled enough to dupe an ettin such as Koroth the Hillbreaker, yes? But… if there’s something you wish to say, please, I invite you to simply say it. I believe both of us have plenty we need to get working on, and it sounds to me, it sounds like you’re moving toward an end, Master Ramsey.

Ramsey pushed up his glasses.

Halford Ramsey says: If you insist, Master Creed. It’s come to my attention that the badges of identification worn by you and your company have a number of powerful enchantments and curses upon them, curses that were identified by Miss Windrunner. Now, I’m sure that a man of your standing would have plenty of reason to ensorcel his own men. That reason is precisely why we are here.

Creed smirks.

Hiram Creed says: Aye. I do. About the same number of reasons that you and yours have to conceal your true forms before me, isn’t that right, Velameestra?

He looked straight at the real Vel, seemingly unfazed by the disguise that she had been maintaining. A small smirk touched Vel’s lips as she allowed the disguise to drop, revealing her true form.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Tell me, Master Creed, why would a member of the red dragonflight feel the need to erode the will of those that follow his lead? The oath you said you hold close to your soul… is that true, or was that just a cover for the fact you didn’t know it?

Creed smiled and then put his hands up to both sides.

Hiram Creed says: It seems I’ve lost this particular battle. You’ve caught me. You’re a keen one, Velameestra. I knew I had to worry about Ramsey, but you, you were something I did not expect. Too clever by half, and knowledgeable about dragons besides.
Velameestra Windrunner says: So where do we go from here, Master Creed?
Hiram Creed says: Well. I presume, because you are here, you’ve come to eliminate me. The question is, is it on behalf of the reds, or your mysterious benefactor?
Velameestra Windrunner says: I believe the answer to that can just as easily be both.
Hiram Creed says: I’ll offer you a deal:I’ll give you my badge and all these men, who will have their minds unclouded. And you’ll never see me again. And I’ll even tell you why I was here in the first place, and who sent me. In exchange, you tell me who your benefactor is. And I want someone else to tell me–not you, Velameestra.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Your Authority is Onyxia, isn’t it?
Hiram Creed says: I’ll tell you if you’re right. All you need to do is give me that name.

Vel tilted her head.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I think the actual choice we have before us, Master Creed, is if you’re going to surrender or not.
Hiram Creed says: I was hoping to take are of this after you made it to the prison. It would have been much, much easier. Pin the blame on Alpha Prime.. You could have even died as martyrs! But no. You had to march into my very own camp. I suppose it will be easier that way. I’ll concoct a story well enough that even the king will believe it, for as long as he survives.

Tol’vas snorts.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I’m going to take that as a no.

Creed snapped his fingers, and he started to take his true form. He transformed into a black drakonid and drew his axe.

Hiram Creed says: Kill them. And make it quick. We don’t want the others to notice.

All the Blackhowl mercenaries turn and look at the group and ready their weapons. Ramsey drew a sidearm and a combat knife, Elissa drew her sword, and Arthas drew his axes.

Arthas Menethil says: There’s a lot of people here.
Velameestra Windrunner says: We need to get his badge.
Arthas Menethil says: Then I’ll leave that to you.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Don’t kill them!

Arthas shot Tol’vas a look and then ran off to try and deal with some of the other individuals. Several of the snipers began to fire off their weapons. Creed started to cast [Mind Blast] but Vel countered it. However, he fired an eldritch blast at Vel and she was yanked towards him.

Luma tossed out four small crystals which started to generate a [Wind Wall]] to offer the group cover from behind. The kennelled hunting howls started to bark and yowl. A few of the snipers tried to shoot through the wall, but they were immediately blown away.

Blackhowl Sniper says: Damn! We need to break down this contraption!

Seria looked at Creed and used [Dominate Person]. Her anger lashed out, and her eyes glowed as black and red vines appeared in her hand. She grabbed onto them, and they lashed out at Creed. However, right before she fully drove him into her command, a blazing presence burst through and destroyed the vines as he resisted the spell.

Creed looked at Seria.

Hiram Creed says: How curious...

Seria then shifted into the form of a giant spider and skittered over to Creed. Creed swung at her as the spider flickered, but the axe cleaved through nothing.

Blackhowl Packmaster says: Release the hounds!

One of the soldiers darted into the wall and tried to force himself through. Another soldier flailed at Seria, but the attacks missed. Suddenly, three of the Blackhowl Company whip off a tarp and reveal a canon that was fired at Uther.

Creed swung around and slashed at Seria and Vel, who were able to deflect the attacks aside. Seria lashed out at Creed as he jumped away. His axe started to ripple with molten energy.

Hiram Creed says: Uther, you’re so concerned about your ettin friends, let me show you what I did to their precious banner!

A wave of sheer, molten energy surged toward Uther, but fractal magic materialized that Luma pulled as they siphoned the magic away. Creed spun the magic into a [Fireball], however Uther drew upon his own magic and caught the ball of fire in his fist and closed it. The spell dissipated into smoke. Creed looked quite displeased.

Tol’vas took his worgen form and conjured the spirit of a lunar moth, which bathed the group in its protective aura.

Hiram Creed says: Commendable job, but lets see how your teamwork protects you from this!

He conjured a [Living Bomb] as as a draconic rune of molten armor appeared on Uther’s armor. However, Uther put his hand over the run and quenched it, preventing it from exploding.

Several mercenaries unloaded on Seria, and one of the snipers shot at Tol’vas’s totem. The shot passed directly through it. More and more soldiers charge forward and begin to surround the group. Bright magenta energy began to waft around Vel as she siphoned her own life force and used [Life Transference] to restore Uther before swinging around with her blade and knocking one soldier out before striking into another.

Uther came up behind her and cracked one soldier in the side of the head before he slammed his hammer into the gut of the Blackhowl lieutenant. The man went sailing backwards and slammed into the ground. He then ran up onto the scaffolding to harass the snipers. One of the snipers tried to move away and Uther clipped him with his hammer.

The soldiers in the camp tried to scramble into position, and the lieutenant got to his feet and slammed into Vel. Vel looked at Creed, ideas running at a hundred miles a minute, and then she began to run at the drakonid. She jumped over the lieutenant’s blade and brought her sword up into Creed's face as a distraction, which gave her an opening to rip the badge off his shirt.

She spun around to his back and disappeared into mist. Creed then realized his badge was missing.

Hiram Creed says: What!? NO. NO!

Vel rematerialized on the wall around the city, and she looked down and saw Liam mounted on his horse in the courtyard taking charge of his people as the other Blackhowl mercenaries tried to pile out of the town.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Your majesty! Command your people!

She then hurled the badge at him as he looked up at her, and he caught it and after a moment to get his bearings, he started to call into it.

Liam Greymane says: Blackhowl Company, if you can hear me, take your badge off and hurl it into the sea! Do it now! Your king commands it!

Suddenly, the Blackhowl company members froze and heeded the call, then started to race toward the edge of the cliff. Creed snarled as he rounded toward Vel and fired another eldritch blast. Without thinking, Vel spun around and severed the blast in half.

The packmasters started to call for the hounds to back off, and Seria raced at Creed and slammed into him. She grabbed onto his arm and started to pump venom into him.

Now that the rest of the company was leaving, Luma pulled out their turrets and threw them down. They started to climb up onto the scaffolding and prepared to fire. They then eyed up the cannon and debated if it would be worth it to load it and fire. One of the turrets fired at Creed while another started to generate a barrier.

Tol’vas also ran at Creed and cleaved his scythe into his side. Blood had started to seep from between the drakonid’s scales.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I’m not impressed.
Hiram Creed says: The last thing I would ever want to do is impress a pathetic worm like you!

Creed nearly cleaved directly into Tol’vas with his burning axe, and he then opened his jaws and exhaled a surge of fire and shadow over the group. Fire erupted from around his feet, and Tol’vas and Seria started to hear a discordant after-sound of his voice, but it failed to weasel into their minds. He then teleported beyond the group and started to head toward the crowd of people. He made a ripping motion with his claws toward the sky.

Hiram Creed says: You think you’ve won here!? I WILL succeed, even if it costs me my life! WITNESS THE POWER OF THE TRUE DRAGON QUEEN!

The clouds up above were torn open, and bright glowing masses started to careen down toward the ground. One was heading toward the manor, one was heading toward the cliff, one was heading toward Vel and the wall around the town, and one was heading towards the camp itself.

Liiraluma says: Well this is going to be fucked!

The fractals of magic appeared against as Luma directed Uther’s magic, Seria intertwined her own magic into it, and Uther channeled magic into his shield which condensed into a beam of light and blasted upward, which reduced the meteors to harmless rubble and rain as he used [Counterspell].

Hiram Creed says: NO!

Creed reached out a hand and harnessed what little magic was left, and hurled an explosion of fire at the group. It ignited the scaffolding and burned the grass to ash as the fires washed over them. Uther leaped out of the fire, hit the ground, rolled with the landing, and rushed at Creed with his hammer at the ready. He slammed into Creed with two devastating strikes.

Vel pulled out her wand of arcane missiles and launched herself off the side of the wall. She fired a barrage of arcane missiles and her eyes flashed a brilliant magenta.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Your queen will fall, just as you are.

The bolts slammed into him, and the last one pierced right through his heart, and he fell to the ground, dead. Vel landed with a crack as her ankle snapped, but it immediately mended itself and she got back to her feet and started to rejoin the group. The Blackhowl company were all pitching their badges into the water, and there was an air of confusion over all of them.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Now tell me, who is she?
Hiram Creed says: You already know. And you won’t stop her. I don’t know who sent you, but she’ll find him, and kill him too. Even if you save Gilneas.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I suppose you’ll never know.
Hiram Creed says: No. I suppose I won’t. I thought I’d be more angry at the end of it all. But it’s just quieter than I thought it would be… it’s… cold.

His last breath faded.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Bash’a… no falor talah.

One of the Blackhowl approached.

Blackhowl Mercenary says: What is that thing!? What. No… heavens above. That thing was our commander?
Liiraluma says: Unfortunately so.

Luma crouched down next to Creed’s body and moved his snout around.

Liiraluma says: So if this thing is this big. Then how big should I expect dragons to be?

Vel looked over at the wall.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Big enough to crush that.
Liiraluma says: I hate that. Uther, are you okay? You took a cannonball to the chest.

Uther rolled his shoulder.

Uther Menethil says: That did hurt a bit.

The rest of the party was all in one piece as well. Vel didn’t have a scratch on her, as any wounds she had sustained had been mended with her natural regeneration.

Liiraluma says: Also, Vel, that was awesome!
Velameestra Windrunner says: The gadget of yours that made the gale? Very well placed.

Luma laughed appreciatively.

Velameestra Windrunner says: And the countermagics at work from both of you were also impressive. Good work all around.
Blackhowl Mercenary yells: GODS IS THAT A GIANT SPIDER?

One of the recovering mercenaries pointed at Seria in a panic.

Halford Ramsey says: Weapons down, lads, she’s on our side!

He reached out to pat Seria just as she started to shift back into her elven disguise, and he proceeded to accidentally pat her on the head.

Halford Ramsey says: Oh! S-sorry about that.
Seria says: Don’t ever do that again.
Halford Ramsey says: Noted! My apologies, Miss Seria! Well!

He turned back to the mercenaries.

Halford Ramsey says: Ladies and gentlemen, I’d be happy to explain to you what happened! None of you are in any trouble, but we need to speak, and the king will want to have words. We also need to figure out who is in charge. As you can see, the Blackhowl Company needs to be under new management. For the time being, you sir–

He pointed at one of the lieutenants.

Halford Ramsey says: Why don’t you take command until you can sort out a more formal arrangement?

The lieutenant grunted in acknowledgement and nodded as Ramsey looked over to Vel.

Halford Ramsey says: I can take it from here. I’ll let everyone know what is going on and make sure that everyone knows not to hold any hard feelings for what was done while they were under the sway of that item.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I’ll leave that to you, then. Thank you, Mister Ramsey.
Halford Ramsey says: Excellent work! Besides a few minor injuries, the Blackhowl Company should be in fighting shape for the attack on the city! Save maybe a few we can keep in reserves for a sprain here or there. But all things considered, this went excellent, and it seems our hunch was right all along!

He walked over to Creed’s body and shut his eyes.

Halford Ramsey says: Rest well, Hiram Creed. I don’t know if you were ever loyal to Gilneas, but for all the evil you did, you likewise did a lot of good. If there was any part of you left in there that cared about this country, know that I appreciated it. And with that–

He stood back up and clapped his hands.

Halford Ramsey says: I pronounce this case officially closed.
Liiraluma says: Though if you have a hunch you may want to straighten your back.
Halford Ramsey says: My dear, it’s a turn of phrase! A hunch is an idea, a notion.
Liiraluma says: Context clues may have told me that but I wasn’t paying attention.
Halford Ramsey says: I would hardly pretend to insult your intellect! You’ve already shown a remarkable mastery of a tongue that belongs to a land you’ve only just come to. The last thing you’re going to get from me is being teased!
Liiraluma says: Bummer.

Luma shrugs and turns to walk away.

Halford Ramsey says: Unless you want me to? I was trying to be polite for once!

Luma laughed but didn’t turn back as she went to examine something else.

Halford Ramsey says: I believe they were teasing me.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And what gave you that clue?

Ramsey smiled and pushed up his glasses.

Halford Ramsey says: Well I am the most famous detective in Gilneas. But go along. I’m sure his majesty would want to know what happened and why a series of meteors had momentarily broken through the cloud cover.

As they looked up, they could see the clouds were still broken and almost seemed to be scorched, but they were starting to close back into an overcast day. Vel had Uther help her move Creed’s body back to his tent while Tol’vas set about patching some people up with magic.

Liam wanted to take a closer look at Creed’s body and preserve it for a time, but he decided he wanted to bury Creed in the Gilnean graveyard that overlooked the ocean.

Liam Greymane says: Some of his actions were heroic, even if they were nefarious. Perhaps burying amongst his ancestors will be a form of atonement. Regardless, I believe it is what we should do. I would like to hold on to his corpse for a moment, but eventually he can rest amongst the rest of the Creed family. Perhaps we can find any bastard heirs… see how long ago this change was. It’s an idle curiosity…

They searched Creed’s tent and found missives that were never sent. They were titled to “my lady”. Most of them were in draconic, and Vel was able to get a rough approximation of what he was doing there. They found mention of the party, but there was no reference to them being back from the dead. Another seemed to be written the day Vel and Ramsey had spoken to him, which referenced his belief that they were not going to be a problem and he hoped to have them and Alpha Prime destroy each other. It also referenced Vel as someone that had a concerning amount of information about dragons. It also referenced Galadin, though as a boy he did not know the identity of, and it seemed that he didn’t know who the informant was–so he didn’t know who Wrathion was, though he suspected there was a traitor amongst the black dragons.

It also seemed he was trying to play Alpha Prime and the Gilneans against each other, and he was attempting to bend or break Isiden Perenolde–or at least was attempting to get Isiden hanged as a traitor. However, Creed seemed frustrated that Isiden was never far from Liam or another noble, nor was he a fighter, so an accident couldn’t claim him.

Creed’s weapon was a great axe by the name of Blackburn. It was an awakened dragon’s wrath great axe that was attuned to the black dragonflight that did additional fire damage and could unleash a cone of fire. It also didn’t have any intrinsic curses. His half-plate had a shadow resistance enchantment, and Vel found a small, deep violet crystal ball. However, Vel sensed that the object was connected to similar orbs, though the connection was disrupted due to the disturbance.

September 18th - September 21st

After some recovery time, the Blackhowl Company elected a new leader and started to recover from the effects of the mental manipulation. They were going to fully commit their cause to Gilneas, and several of them still knew the passage into the city. It was still usable. Word of Hiram Creed’s betrayal passed through the Gilneans, and there was a bit of mistrust and paranoia that started to spread. Uther attempted to stemmy some of the paranoia and recited some old sermons to rekindle hope and brotherhood. On one occasion, Godfrey approached.

Vincent Godfrey says: You should listen to the lad, ladies and gentlemen. He’s proven himself to know a great deal about what it takes to be a part of a greater whole, and I can assure you that my people are already taking steps to ensure no other creatures such as Creed are able to worm their way into our society. Take heart, and your fellow Gilneans will need to trust each other if we’re going to succeed. Even if it is… difficult at times.

He tipped his hat at Uther and moved on his way. Slowly but surely, the fear started to wane. Luma also created some trinkets and artifice toys and such to distract people from the betrayal.

Luma finished their development on the ritual water dispenser, and it was incredibly successful. Production started to make them en masse, which ensured that everyone would have them during the fight.

Vel had met with Celestine and a number of other harvest witches to go and survey the countryside for any remains left at the abandoned farmsteads by the Wolf Cult worgen. As they fluttered around as a flock of ravens, they had managed to find one large farmstead that seemed to have also been a sort of horse farm or dairy ranch, as the corpses of larger beasts were littered around the area, as well as those of dogs and sheep, and similar farm life.

However, there were also shapes stalking about, and there seemed to be a number of Wolf Cult worgen infesting the place. Fortunately, they had brought along some of Luma’s devices just in case, and they used the opportunity to get an additional test run as they flew over and dropped the devices on the worgen, which left them incapacitated and dazed enough that they could also be taken back with them and rehabilitated.

Vel requested that the witches help her gather what bones they could find into a central area so that the ritual would be easier to enact, and they agreed and set about gathering as many as they could. The majority had been pecked clean by scavengers of many sorts, and the harvest witches traded some berries and other small meats with the carrion birds that flocked around so that the bones could be claimed in peace.

By the time they were done, there was just a massive mound of bones and remains at the center of the farmstead.

Vel approached the bone pile and withdrew a small dagger as she started to channel magic. Her eyes lit up with a haunting, blue light, and her tattoos flared with magic of a similar color.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I call upon the memories still tethered here, and with my blood, I seal your presence.

She slid the dagger across her palm, and squeezed a stream of blood onto the ground before her regeneration could mend the wound. It disappeared into the earth.

Velameestra Windrunner says: With my body, I gift you an anchor, and with my word I imbue your purpose. And with my will, you will arise anew.

A spectral, ghostly energy crept across the ground to the pile of bones and settled within it like a thick blanket of mist. After a moment, the energy was pulled into the eye holes of the various skulls, and the bones of the beasts claimed by the worgen began to shudder as they shifted and assembled themselves into the forms they had once attained in life. As each one completed, the energy enwrapped the skeleton and provided a spectral, flickering overlay of the beast on top of a form of cracked, gnawed bone.

Celestine approached and reached out her hand to one of the skeletal hounds. Her hand brushed against bone, and the skeleton seemed to move into her touch in the same way a living dog would. It was a strange facsimile of enjoying being pet.

Celestine says: Absolutely fascinating. Everything I had heard of necromancy painted it as a cruel practice. One that turns the will and enslaves it. But your approach has not done that.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It depends on the necromancer.
Celestine says: There’s a great deal that can be learned from this. There’s a justice in this. Thank you for allowing us to be here.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Of course. It is just as much your place given your coven also walks the path between life and death. A bit more than the night elves do, anyway.
Celestine says: Their magic is ancient and powerful, but so too is ours. This land is one of darkness, and we have learned not to shy away from it. It seems you too are a friend to such shadows.
Velameestra Windrunner says: There’s safety in the dark.

Celestine smiled.

Celestine says: Quite true!

After Vel finished raising what skeletons she could, Celestine used [Transport via Plants] to open a passage in a nearby tree so that the horde of animated beasts could be shepherded to the muster point, in a sheltered grove where they would not disturb the more superstitious.

Seria spent a great deal of time in the mansion. During one night following Creed’s defeat, she fell into a dream. She didn’t remember it fully, but she remember red and anger, her claws tearing, and her jaws ripping sinew from bone. When she awoke, it was to a harsh, uncharacteristic laughter–a strange laughter in her own voice.

She felt a sharp pain in her hands, and she looked down. In her sleep, her fingers had grown into sharp claws and dug into her own hand. All of the plants around her had claw marks. She shook her hands and they went back to normal, as it had just been her natural shapeshifting ability.

She wished that she could remember the dream. She felt like she wanted to be afraid, but a different part of her wasn’t. However, the longer she stayed awake, the more distant the dream became. The next day, she slept without incident, and she did the following night as well. However, part of her was almost disappointed.
