December 9th

Arthak has a talk with Sadras involving, well, everything that he has been doing and working towards. He included an entire summary of everything from the hunt for the draenei, to meeting the original warband, and touching the Eye of Sargeras. The fact he killed a bunch of draenei slaves because of the dreadlord, and the fight with Socrethar. The journey to the mountaintop to meet Samuro, and everything else that had happened since. He does also include the prophecy that Remnii had said, and the fact it kickstarted everything. Sadras got literally everything.

Sadras waits as Arthak gives the summary, just taking everything in.

Sadras says: Wow.
Arthak Saurfang says: I can get you a rylak if you want to go back through the portal.
Sadras says: No. it’s okay. It’s… just a lot. So. So all of this, all this started because Remnii told you about some vision?
Arthak Saurfang says: Her father’s. Yes.
Sadras says: Damn. That’s… that’s impressive. Her father must be a badass.
Arthak Saurfang says: Supposedly, he’s a prophet.
Sadras says: So you… so that gave you… why? I guess… you didn’t see this vision. She just told you. That was enough for you to risk everything?
Arthak Saurfang says: It wasn’t just that, but that was where it started. I did see a vision of my father’s death when I touched the eye. I don’t know if it was real or a fabrication, but that played a part. A lot of things played a part. It amounted to a purpose.
Sadras says: Yeah. But they always say the best lies have a grain of truth, right?
Arthak Saurfang says: So I heard.
Sadras says: My mother always told me that. It’s a bold move throwing your trust into that, especially at a time like this. But I can’t say I’m surprised.
Arthak Saurfang says: At the time I didn’t have much to lose.
Sadras says: But now you do. But does that change anything?
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s all the more reason I chase a better future.
Sadras says: Heh… I’m glad to hear that, Arthak. Really. For a bit I was worried. I thought that the draw of the conquest was beginning to grab hold of you. That you’d begun to just throw yourself in this war for the glory of it. I’d never imagined there was some sort of…
Arthak Saurfang says: Plan?
Sadras says: Maybe not that, but not something so deep, I guess. Not with Remnii and her people. Not with Garrosh. Not with the Shadow Council or any of that. I, uh… I’m really in over my head, aren’t I?
Arthak Saurfang says: We all are.
Sadras says: I guess you’re right. I guess we have been for a while. We’re all just sort of… well a few of us are realizing it. This is a lot. But I really appreciate you telling me. I hope that I can help you sort all this out.
Arthak Saurfang says: I should have told you sooner.
Sadras says: Yeah. I can’t argue with that. My dad is a pretty simple guy. He’s no prophet, but I hope I can still help you all the same. I’m with you, for this. I know I’ve said that, then almost ran off, but I mean it. This time I’ll come to you if there’s something wrong. Not just run around like an idiot.
Arthak Saurfang says: That’s my job.
Sadras says: It is, but you don’t get a free pass on this either.
Arthak Saurfang says: Wasn’t intending to.
Sadras says: The spirits brought you back, they brought you through all this. The ancestors have been testing you, but I think it’s for a reason. All of this. I don’t know what that reason is, but I’m here to stick through and learn what that reason is. With you. With the clan.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’m glad. None of it is going to get easier. In fact, it’s only going to get worse.
Sadras says: I’m sure. But as long as Go’el can find the real Doomhammer. Maybe we can start fixing things.
Arthak Saurfang says: That’s an important part. Not the whole of it, but one of the most important plays I have. Just have to survive until he gets back.
Sadras says: Yeah, I guess so. May the ancestors watch over him and the rest.
Arthak Saurfang says: If they’ll watch over anyone.

Sadras asks more about the Zagarra, specifically, where she is now.

Arthak Saurfang says: She’s somewhere here.
Sadras says: Here?
Arthak Saurfang says: She didn’t go with Garrosh.
Sadras says: Perhaps someday our paths can cross. I’d love to meet someone like her. But I don’t want to put her at risk either.
Arthak Saurfang says: Zagarra is strong and brave, but, I fear for her the way I fear for Garrosh and his Kor’kron.
Sadras says: I guess that means that in their moment of need, we’ll just have to be there. If we can be.
Arthak Saurfang says: If we can be.

December 11th

Levia had run to Nyxxa in a panic after her meeting with Halno.

Levia Blackflight says: Nyxxa, I need some advice.
Nyxxa says: Alright.
Levia Blackflight says: It’s about Halno. Promise me you won’t say I told you. He came to me and he… he revealed that apparently his body that he’s using belongs to a man named Sylvos Windrunner. I don’t know if you knew this.
Nyxxa says: He told me.
Levia Blackflight says: I didn’t know Sylvos, but I know of him. Halno asked me to help him contact Sylvos because he’s been doing so, and he thinks I can help, and I don’t know what to do...

Nyxxa ponders for a moment.

Levia Blackflight says: There’s something else.
Nyxxa says: Oh. Okay.
Levia Blackflight says: Before the Dark Portal opened, before this, everything, before I met you. I met someone else. She was a mage from somewhere else. Not from the Magistrate. But she was… um… when I met her she was under cover. When I was at Duskwither Academy. She was one of the group that was trying to stop the Dark Portal. A lot were, but she was one of the ones that got close. Her name was Velameestra. Velameestra Windrunner. She’s… she’s Sylvos’s niece. I didn’t even know who she was when I talked to her, and when we sort of… became friends. She’s probably the person that really made me think twice about everything. I don’t know what to do. She… she might not even know that Sylvos is dead and she’s been… she’s been contacting me for a while. I don’t know how to face her, and now this. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what the right thing to do is right now. I thought maybe you would know because you… you’re the only other person that’s done what she did.

Nyxxa is flabbergasted for a moment.

Nyxxa says: Well… Alright. Lets… thank you for coming to me with this, but you should… take this one step at a time. What is your first instinct to do?
Levia Blackflight says: Run. But I know that’s not right. Not this time. She doesn’t know that I’m like this. But maybe…
Nyxxa says: What do you think she knows?
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t actually know. She knows I’m alive. That’s one thing. I don’t think she knows what I’ve done. Not since everything else. She knows I helped the warlocks. I tried to make things right, but it wasn’t enough to change anything. And… I don’t think she’d be mad at that, but I don’t think she will want to see me again after this. After she sees that I’ve become a monster. But. But maybe she doesn’t have to see me, I guess. If she reaches out again I can… Maybe I should tell her. But I don’t know.
Nyxxa says: I mean. If you care about her, you should likely tell her the truth. And whether she understands or not, she’ll know. But.
Levia Blackflight says: What about this thing with her uncle? With Halno?

Nyxxa grits her teeth.

Nyxxa says: Ah… Well. I frankly don’t know…. If he didn’t tell you, he wasn’t put into Sylvos’s body by choice, but I guess the point lies for her is how well she would take that even if it wasn’t something Halno chose to do.
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t know. I don’t know how close she was to her uncle. I don’t know. I guess I can’t do anything about it anyways. Not until she tries to contact me.
Nyxxa says: And this is… sending, I assume?
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t know where she is.
Nyxxa says: Understood. One thing I do know, and one thing you should be cautious of. I do know that Arthak is looking for her. Specifically because she was one of the few who were almost able to stop the Dark Portal.
Levia Blackflight says: He knows about her? No no no…
Nyxxa says: Calm down. He doesn’t know much. He is looking for information because it’s information Runesight left out. Her name was mentioned, but understated.
Levia Blackflight says: he can’t know about this. He can’t know about her…
Nyxxa says: I won’t tell him. You are under no obligation to tell him either.
Levia Blackflight says: She could have just killed me, but she didn’t. She gave me a chance. I can’t just let something like that happen to her. Okay. Okay. Sorry. I think… I just didn’t know what to do.
Nyxxa says: Understood. She was there during the battle, yes? Do you know the group she was with?

Levia nods.

Levia Blackflight says: She was with, um… she was with… her brother. Um. One of the other people who was pretending to be a magister. I believe he was the prince of Lordaeron. I don’t know much about him. I barely know much about Vel…
Nyxxa says: Wait. Lordaeron?
Levia Blackflight says: The human kingdom to the south.
Nyxxa says: Yes. I was there briefly. I suppose it’s time I made a confession. I may have tried to assassinate the queen of Lordaeron.
Levia Blackflight says: What? Why?
Nyxxa says: I… have you heard of Remnii since you’ve been here?
Levia Blackflight says: only a bit. Some other orcs have said the name.
Nyxxa says: She was an ally of ours, but that’s… a very long story. Essentially, one of the draenei slaves. But someone many of us here care about dearly.
Levia Blackflight says: Is she dead?
Nyxxa says: No. She came… her friends, some of the draenei, assisted in her escaping because it was too dangerous to stay. She is too high priority. So she escaped that night, and I stumbled into her and ended up helping her. I was seen by one of the demons and managed to go to Lordaeron with her.
Levia Blackflight says: So you needed a cover?

Nyxxa nods.

Levia Blackflight says: That’s clever, actually.
Nyxxa says: I don’t feel good about it.
Levia Blackflight says: Well you didn’t succeed?
Nyxxa says: No. I killed people, but not her. Remnii is safe and she’s with people I know have some association with the Windrunners, and I can only assume that Remnii has some association with Velameestra.
Levia Blackflight says: It was probably them. Jaina was present as well.
Nyxxa says: yeah. It’s also important I didn’t kill Jaina because she is not allowed to die… but that’s another thing.
Levia Blackflight says: i guess it’s good you failed.
Nyxxa says: So that’s a load off of my chest right now.
Levia Blackflight says: I guess I’ll wait until she contacts me. And maybe then I’ll figure out what to do with Halno.

Nyxxa nods.

Nyxxa says: Though I’m curious what he’s doing. But you’re under no obligation to assist him.
Levia Blackflight says: He said as much. He also said I shouldn’t tell anyone. So… oops. Heh.
Nyxxa says: it’s a risk you take when you tell someone something. It’s a risk of trusting someone. But I’m glad you told me. It allowed us to put some pieces together, at least.
Levia Blackflight says: I guess so. Thanks for helping with… all of this.
Nyxxa says: of course. I told you you could come to me, and I’ll keep this sealed. But there was something additional I’m going to speak to you about seeing I have see invisibility active right now.
Levia Blackflight says: What is it?
Nyxxa says: I’ve told you about my former associate demon hunter.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, the one that killed the grand magister.
Nyxxa says: She’s been talking to me about creating a new organization. I don’t know if she’s going to call them demon hunters, that would be weird, but teaching some of the felblood elves the art and starting a new organization.
Levia Blackflight says: That sounds like a mess.
Nyxxa says: But, at least in the moment, if I were to help her I’d know what’s going on. But it gave me another idea. What if we slowly, steadily, built our own organization of people in situations similar to ours?
Levia Blackflight says: I’m in.
Nyxxa says: Oh! I didn’t-
Levia Blackflight says: You didn’t have to. What I said about Vel applies to you too. You’re one of the only people who gave me a chance and didn’t throw me away. If we can do that for someone else, then…
Nyxxa says: Well, it’s something to build very slowly and trust sparingly.
Levia Blackflight says: I understand.
Nyxxa says: So it’s just the three of us. You, I, and Azgadaan.
Levia Blackflight says: Azgadaan?

Nyxxa nods.

Nyxxa says: The point of the organization would be those who don’t agree with what it means to be a demon.

Levia chuckles.

Levia Blackflight says: I assume we’re also going to sneak out after hours and smoke bloodthistle behind the building?
Nyxxa says: Levia! … what’s bloodthistle?
Levia Blackflight says: Don’t worry about it. It’s dangerous. Gives you quite a high, not that I would know that.
Nyxxa says: But yes, before I go, we can try to catch Azgadaan and talk about what we want to do. The name is the Unbound.
Levia Blackflight says: That’s pretty extra, but I like it.
Nyxxa says: I don’t know what that means, but I’m glad.
Levia Blackflight says: Over the top, but not in a bad way necessarily. Azgadaan has been acting strangely kind… I suppose I was worried he was trying to catch me doing something, but I guess he’s just a… nice demon.
Nyxxa says: I was just as surprised. I didn’t expect that of an eredar.
Levia Blackflight says: Well. Good to know.
Nyxxa says: if Remnii and Samaara trusted him, then I will as well. That said, with Remnii, I hope you’re able to meet her one day. She’s something else.
Levia Blackflight says: You’ve already spoken quite highly of her. I hope so someday too, I guess.
Nyxxa says: And I don’t mean to commandeer your sendings, but at some point, please tell Vel that I hope they’re taking good care of Remnii.
Levia Blackflight says: I can try to find out if Vel is with her…
Nyxxa says: Don’t actually worry about it! It was more a joke.

They continue to talk on their walk for a bit, and they talk about who might have been scrying Levia. They rationalize it might be Runesight, but it could also be Vel, or it might be Levia’s mother too…

Levia Blackflight says: I’ll have to deal with her someday. I don’t know when or how.
Nyxxa says: I want to be there for you. I’m afraid to make lofty promises, as that’s a good way to tempt fate. So I’ll just say I want to help you.
Levia Blackflight says: I believe you.
Nyxxa says: I’m glad I found you.
Levia Blackflight says: I am too.

They have a hug.

December 13th-17th

Nyxxa had headed back to the mainland to find Caria and spend some time with her. Arthak spends some time with the clan and working on getting more funds and training with Azuka and Mankrik.

Azgadaan continues working on his sending stones, finishing the first set, and Halno is also working on his scroll of private sanctum. He manages to finish with all the all nighters he is able to pull.

Sazget gives birth to a single child, a healthy baby girl on December 14th. There is a small feast in honor of the child. As Arthak walks out to introduce the baby to the clan, and Sadras is just beaming at her. Sadras definitely held the child, as did many others.

Sadras makes a side comment that she thinks Arthak would make a good father someday.

At some point during the week, a series of carts arrives bearing a tribute from an unmarked source in a collection of gemstones, valuables, and other things that are not marked. A number of clanless orcs deliver it, and all five of them then request to join Arthak’s clan. Gramgun is complete and utter shock and awe.

There’s about 10,000 gold pieces worth of treasure in the cart.

Which he immediately puts that back into the clan, upgrading the lumber mill, smithy, stronghold, and barracks, and he also gets a laboratory built. Gramgun’kur finds itself under heavy construction.

Halno is approached by a number of orcs who ask what he needs for a workshop, and suddenly, things start showing up.

On the mainland, Nyxxa delivers Arthak’s message first, and she also delivers a few other messages from those among the clan. She also gives Levia some money from the earnings she makes as well.

When not delivering messages, Nyxxa does some more scouting. She is able to get some valuable information, and through the course of her scouting, she also notices there are some interesting things. There have been heavily guarded groups of orcs traveling in various places of the city bearing no symbol outwardly. All of them appear to be guarding something--a cart that is being pulled. Samaara confirms she had seen similar things.

Khadgar checks in as usual, and he confirms that they have been able to secure an okay route of escape. Thus, if Nyxxa could focus on the Red Mist it would be appreciated.

Khadgar says: There is one more thing. When the ban’dinoriel falls over the city, a number of us will be staying behind. There is unfinished business in the city.
Nyxxa says: I see.
Khadgar says: Part of mine involves Sinestra.
Nyxxa says: Understood.
Khadgar says: I can tell you little more about it, but we will be meeting with those trapped outside the barrier as soon as we can.
Nyxxa says: If you need anything else, let me know. I have some questions, but they can be asked later.
Khadgar says: Whenever I could assist, let me know.
Nyxxa says: Just let me know when’s a good time.
Khadgar says: Would you prefer this in person?
Nyxxa says: Not necessarily.

On one of the other days, however.

Nyxxa says: So. One of the friends the Blood Shrike referred to. Would that be Velameestra Windrunner?
Khadgar says: Might I ask where you heard this name?
Nyxxa says: Well… essentially gathering information from the days before the fall of Silvermoon. She was a name that was mentioned. I… I managed to meet with a friend of her’s in an unfortunate situation.
Khadgar says: I see.
Nyxxa says: I don’t want to… but given the information I heard, I made the assumption she is with Remnii.
Khadgar says: I can’t confirm nor deny, but it is possible.
Nyxxa says: I also know that certain people may be looking for her.
Khadgar says: That is also not surprising.
Nyxxa says: Though I guess it’s good that certain elves, or, felblood elves at least haven’t perceived her as a threat, so that’s good for her.
Khadgar says: A perceived threat inwardly and outwardly are two different things.
Nyxxa says: I also believe that they downplayed the importance of the people that helped to cover their own asses. So. Just something I’m trying to get straight. But. Things are being… information is being kept, and disseminated regarding that situation. So I thought it best to inform you. I don’t know what they’ll do about it.
Khadgar says: It’s appreciated.
Nyxxa says: And if she is one of the people helping Remnii, in no terms or less, if Remnii is going to be put in danger because of that, I’d like for her to get that information too.
Khadgar says: Ultimately, Velameestra is a member of the same mage college that I am a ranking member of. I’ll ensure that information gets to where it needs to be. When such a thing is possible.
Nyxxa says: It’s appreciated.
Khadgar says: Was there anything else you needed to report?
Nyxxa says: Nothing at the moment.
Khadgar says: I look forward to hearing from you again.

Arthak approaches Zokk and asks him to bring any of his fellow non-coms back to the clan, along with an armed escort. He agrees and goes out to accomplish said goal. Arthak also gave him a formal invitation to the clan.

He then goes to speak with Gel’nok, and he passes the information about Doomhammer in a subtle way.

Gel'nok says: Good to hear. I won’t lie, part of me was hoping you would go for it, but if the son of Durotan can accomplish it, then the same end is achieved.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’m no savior, Gel’nok, but I can forge a path for one.
Gel'nok says: Well said.
Arthak Saurfang says: And I’d like you to forge that path with me. With my people.
Gel'nok says: So you want me to join your clan, ey?
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ve been angling for it, yes.
Gel'nok says: You know, I’ve never been a part of a clan. Me and organization don’t normally jive.
Arthak Saurfang says: No, but this is a fresh clan. We have no traditions. No founding beliefs. We’re figuring all that out. A fresh start. You can be a part of that, with what you learned. The way of the breakers, the lore you have, it can spread here and not die with you. This clan can carry it forward. We can become a clan of smiths, warriors, mystics, carrying on Draenor’s memory.

Gel’nok stops his work and turns to Arthak, crossing his arms with a grumble.

Gel'nok says: I’ll have you know, Saurfang. I’m a picky bastard. These second rate smiths won’t be able to ploy their craft without me beating some skill into them.
Arthak Saurfang says: Good. I want nothing second rate in my clan. Our people deserve the best.
Gel'nok says: If I do this, this place, the forge, becomes my domain. I run it the way I want to, and everyone listens to me… and you, but mostly me in here.
Arthak Saurfang says: If you do this, I name you Forgemaster of the Broken Blade.
Gel'nok says: Heh. Forgemaster. I’ve been a master of the forge for longer than you’ve been alive, by, but having a title isn’t a bad thing.
Arthak Saurfang says: And it makes it official. This place is yours. I do not tell Gramgun how to run his ships, I do not tell Mother Kaza how to raise our youth, I do not tell Thura how to train our troops, I won’t tell you how to forge our weapons.
Gel'nok says: Alright, Stormbreaker. You got a fucking deal. I don’t know how much longer I have on this world, but not having to walk as much for it won’t be bad. I’ll run this forge, and I’ll run it damn good.
Arthak Saurfang says: Good. Teach our smiths. And if you see anyone worthy, teach them what you taught me.
Gel'nok says:' We’ll see about that. But. I will.

Arthak offers a hand, and Gel’nok accepts the handshake.

Levia comes to visit Azgadaan as he is working himself into the ground.

Levia Blackflight says: You still working on those things?
Azgadaan says: Yes. Would you like to sit down?
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, if you’re okay with somebody just being here…

She watches him work and periodicaly chimes in to ask what he’s doing and how he’s doing it.

Levia Blackflight says: How long have you been doing stuff like this?
Azgadaan says: Making things?
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah.
Azgadaan says: I used to make some small trinkets back home, but nothing like this. It’s new.
Levia Blackflight says: That’s cool. I’ve never really done anything like that, so… it’s impressive.
Azgadaan says: Thanks. You can do better than me. You can heal people. I wish I could.
Levia Blackflight says: If I knew how I could do it, I’d tell you. But here it is.
Azgadaan says: I’m glad you’re here. Even without that power. Just glad you’re around. Nice to see a friendly face.
Levia Blackflight says: Not many people describe me as friendly. I’m usually called intimidating.
Azgadaan says: Perhaps it’s because I’ve been around not so friendly faces.
Levia Blackflight says: Judging from you, also, I’m used to being the tallest one. But that’s not the case around here.
Azgadaan says: Ten years ago your time I was about… half your height, I’d say?
Levia Blackflight says: Wow. You grew quick. You guys live for a long time, right? Like… forever.
Azgadaan says: Not sure how long we can live, but pretty sure it’s indefinite for demons. But that can end abruptly at any point. Depending on circumstance.
Levia Blackflight says: If you’re killed in the Twisting Nether, yeah.
Azgadaan says: Or training on the homeworld. I could use a break, though. Would you like some food? I’ve been awake for about two days, so.
Levia Blackflight says: You should probably not do that.
Azgadaan says: Maybe not, but I needed to finish this.
Levia Blackflight says: Fair enough. It’s not my place to tell you what to do with your time. Yeah. I could eat.
Azgadaan says: Alright. I’ve gotten a bit better since I picked up my hobby, so if it’s burnt, I’m sorry.

Azgadaan makes some food.

Levia Blackflight says: This actually isn’t so bad.
Azgadaan says: Soon we won’t even need to take the ships or wait for departures. I can summon some transportation across the water.
Levia Blackflight says: I saw you and Arthak drive that hellfire machine out of the town. That’s… pretty cool.
Azgadaan says: Well. Maybe when we have free time, you can take a ride.
Levia Blackflight says: For real?
Azgadaan says: Yes.
Levia Blackflight says: That sounds awesome.
Azgadaan says: I’m basically just pulling them from disuse. A big parking lot.
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t even understand what that means, but that sounds pretty cool regardless. I have no idea if I’ll be able to make that go, but I’m going to try.
Azgadaan says: It can go quite fast. It’s a bit dangerous though.
Levia Blackflight says: I’m not exactly afraid of some scrapes or bruises.
Azgadaan says: Well, you can fix yourself up.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. That’s handy. What other projects are you working on? These are sending stones, right?
Azgadaan says: Yes. They’re for some friends of mine.
Levia Blackflight says: That’s pretty cool.
Azgadaan says: yes. What do you think? I made this for myself, and this one is for lady Aracyra.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh yeah, saw her. I think that’ll fit.
Azgadaan says: Do you think it’s pretty enough?
Levia Blackflight says: Oh, I’m no expert on things that are pretty, but it would match her I think.

She holds her hand out for it, and she compares it to her own wardrobe.

Levia Blackflight says: It looks pretty similar to me. Regardless, I think she’ll like whatever you give her.

She gives it back to Azgadaan.

Azgadaan says: Hopefully, she’ll return in one piece. Once that barrier is down I can send her..
Levia Blackflight says: Well, don’t worry. It’s rough not being able to do much for someone you’re concerned about.
Azgadaan says: Well, the same goes for you. If you have any friends, they’re friends of mine.

Levia’s mouth flaps for a moment and she thanks him. They talk a little bit more about Azgadaan’s bike, as Levia is clearly enamored with it.

She pauses for a moment then thanks him. Azgadan gets the sense that she was about to say something, but then decided not to.

Azgadaan says: If you have free time, once I’m done with this… do you guys have Hearthstone? My friend Spinyl showed me, I just don’t have a deck.
Levia Blackflight says: Ah. I don’t either. I always thought it was pretty lame growing up. I know some people with them, but I didn’t play many games when I was younger. I was more the type of kid that would sneak out and get into places I wasn’t supposed to. Have you ever… have you ever tagged anything?
Azgadaan says: No. I don’t know what you mean.
Levia Blackflight says: It’s art, in a way. But not art everyone appreciates. You go out and make a mark somewhere in the world.
Azgadaan says: Writing doesn’t count, does it?
Levia Blackflight says: It can-
Azgadaan says: I put it back together afterwards… don’t tell anyone this, but after we got through the portal I took the manor of a deceased magister. Or I think he was deceased. It was Sylvos Windrunner.
Levia Blackflight says: No shit. Yeah, uh… he’s dead. I think Arthak took him out, if the rumors are true.
Azgadaan says: Oh. Well then. Not sure if I feel worse, or less bad that I was forced to tear down part of the house.
Levia Blackflight says: it is what it is. At some point you have to stop letting the atrocity get to you. If you have to do something you don’t like… you just did it, you know? Can’t change the past. You can run from it. I’ve been doing that for a while.
Azgadaan says: I’ve been… I’ve been doing a bit of that too.
Levia Blackflight says: I got that sense. You mentioned that you could have died in functionally school. That doesn’t sound fun.
Azgadaan says: I thought I was making a friend, but he died during one of the first trials. I’m not sure why, but while we were in the trial, the majority of the imps in the center just dove right for him. Ended his short life.
Levia Blackflight says: Sorry. Didn’t mean to bring up any tough memories.
Azgadaan says: No, it’s fine. I’d rather talk to someone about some things.
Levia Blackflight says: Well, for what it’s worth, I get you. Didn’t have a smooth life growing up. So. I guess if you ever need to talk about… it. You won’t get any judgement from me.
Azgadaan says: Thank you, Levia.
Levia Blackflight says: No problem. No big deal.
Azgadaan says: One day, would you like me to make you one of these?

He gestures to the sending stone.

Levia Blackflight says: If you want. That would be real cool, yeah.
Azgadaan says: I’d gladly do it. I just need to wait for more funds. This broke my bank.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh, yeah, no rush or anything. I don’t think I’m going anywhere.
Azgadaan says: Well, I’m going to get a bit more enchanting in.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah, I’ll let you get back to work. Thanks for the food though.
Azgadaan says: You’re welcome. Good night. Or… what time is it?
Levia Blackflight says: It’s like midday right now, man.
Azgadaan says: Oh. That’ll do it.
Levia Blackflight says: Just take care of yourself. It won’t be good if a new friend collapsed from exhaustion. Besides, then you’d get dragged back to the Twisting Nether, right? That wouldn’t be good.
Azgadaan says: Yeah, it wouldn’t be. Thank you for your company.
Levia Blackflight says: I’ll probably be heading to the mainland to meet with Nyxxa, but I’ll see you.

They split ways, and Levia goes to board a ship to meet with Nyxxa.

Another day, Arthak mentions to Sadras he is grooming Azuka to inherit the clan.

Sadras says: So you were planning on that?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes.
Sadras says: That would be a powerful statement. Though it doesn’t usually happen. Normally clans are lead by those that topple them, or the next of kin.
Arthak Saurfang says: I know. But we are a new clan, with our own traditions. I’ve seen where succession by blood can lead.
Sadras says: Fair. Though that does bring up a question, Arthak. You care about her a lot, that’s obvious. If you want to make that official. If you want her to know what you want her to be. You could name her as your heir, formally. You’re the clan leader. You can do whatever you want.
Arthak Saurfang says: That is… a fair point.
Sadras says: We don’t have family names like the elves. Surnames are earned by deeds. But there’s no rule against them being given.
Arthak Saurfang says: You’re right. Perhaps I should make it official.
Sadras says: She’s a good girl. A bit rough around the edges, but who am I to talk, you know?
Arthak Saurfang says: part of the interest. She’s quiet. Because she pays attention more than she talks.
Sadras says: She reminds me of you.
Arthak Saurfang says: Hrmmm. I hope not. Id that’s the case, perhaps I should rethink this.
Sadras says: Regardless, I think you’d make a good choice. Though she may balk at it at first, I think she’ll come around. She clearly respects you, and I think she likes me. At least I hope so. And someday, someday I think she’ll be a great leader, and a great big sister.
Arthak Saurfang says: Ahhh….Yes. I suppose she might.
Sadras says: She will be. And you will be a great father, to her, and any young warriors we have.

Arthak stumbles over his words a bit.

Sadras says: I still think it’s cute that you balk more at the thought of a woman than a battlefield.
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s not a woman precisely, it’s.... I’m not her father, but I can show her things. I can be a teacher. That’s what I can do.
Sadras says: You can do many things. We can do many things. But, it’s up to you. You’re the one that found her, after all. You’re the one that named her. So if you choose so, you can continue that tradition and give her another name.
Arthak Saurfang says: Alright. Lets do this. Alright. Okay.
Sadras says: Oh. Right now? Sure!

They find Azuka later when she reports in.

Arthak Saurfang says: Azuka, there’s something else.

Azuka’s eyes flicker back and forth.

Azuka says: Did I… do something? This isn’t because I didn’t tell you that she was going to leave, right?
Sadras says: That’s not it.
Arthak Saurfang says: You’ve done many things.
Azuka says: Good things or bad things?
Arthak Saurfang says: Good. But I, ah… I’ve not been entirely clear. I’ve not been honest where all this leads. Where I hope all this will lead. Your future. Things I’ve been teaching you. The things the other leaders have been teaching you. Now I should be.

Azuka blinks, her eyes flickering again.

Azuka says: What are you talking about?
Arthak Saurfang says: My path, the direction I’m heading, is dangerous. More dangerous than it is for most chieftains. Even should I survive, I will one day die. Someone needs to keep this going. To lead our people after I can’t.
Azuka says: So you want me to find someone to take over? You’re pretty young. I don’t think that’s going to happen soon. You keep losing parts, but you keep coming back.
Arthak Saurfang says: Insightful, but no. I was thinking you.
Azuka says: Me? You were thinking me? You were thinking I should be the onee to take over?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. That’s what I’ve been starting to prepare you for. Train you for.
Azuka says: You’re serious?
Arthak Saurfang says: I always am.
Azuka says: Why me? I’m not your spawn. I’m no one. Why me? Of everyone?
Arthak Saurfang says: Because less than a year ago, I was just Cowardspawn. Because no one is no one. You are intelligent, cunning, you pay attention. Do you know how rare that is? You don’t just hear words, you think about them and consider them. You see the angles they come from. You move softly through this world. Quietly, but because you choose to.

Azuka’s eyes look down to the ground.

Arthak Saurfang says: Because you hate compliments. And no one who takes to them, should lead our people. I can keep going.
Sadras says: And you would deserve every word. You’re a strong young woman. Smart. Fast. Probably a better hunter than I am, and that’s saying something.

Azuka looks up again, and her fists ball up at her side before she looks down again.

She then spins on her heel and sprints away into Gramgun’kur as fast as she can. She glances back only once.

Arthak Saurfang says: ...alright.
Sadras says: I suppose that’s about what I expected.

Arthak sighs.

Arthak Saurfang says: She is doing what she knows to do. She’ll find me, when she chooses to.

Mankrik had asked about Arthak’s eye, and then Mankrik had gone and continued to embellish the story to the rest of the clan. It changed every time. Mankrik, however, had been spending more time with his wife since her return, and Mahka had been testing newborns for shamanism potential. There are a few. About a dozen and a half including herself that have an ear for the spirits.

She is also definitely expecting a child.

Lantresor also stops Arthak for a moment during the week, during which Arthak tells him about Azuka.

Lantresor says: I am gladdened by this turn of events, Arthak. Sometimes the greatest family one can make is by choice, but at the same time, one must not forget the family one is born with. And you have not done that. The fire has returned to your eyes, Arthak. Don’t forget that fire. If you forget that fire, it proves only that you have forgotten the blood that burns in your veins.
Arthak Saurfang says: Some legacies I can’t forget. And I shouldn’t.
Lantresor says: There are lessons to learn from our ancestors, not just guidance. One can never erase those legacies, but one can build their own. That can manifest in many ways, but don’t let fear prevent you from following down the path that you’ve blazed for yourself. As hard as it might be. And if you do, I will drag you back to it. Don’t forget that, either.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’m counting on it, old friend.
Lantresor says: I have lived for many years, but I will live for many more. As long as my blade is keen, I will hope to protect you and yours. Your family of blood and otherwise. Even shsould my blade remain keen after you’re gone. Which will be in a very long time, if I have anything to say, of course.
Arthak Saurfang says: if either of us have anything to say. Despite what everyone seems to think.
Lantresor says: Including yourself at times. This is the first time I’ve heard you say that, and it makes my heart glad.
Arthak Saurfang says: My time isn’t yet.
Lantresor says: You are a keen young man. I’m glad you’ve finally opened your eyes, and seen you have much to live for and protect. In time you will know, even without seeing, what that means. There is a reason they say the blind are so wise.
Arthak Saurfang says: perhaps I should take the other one, then.
Lantresor says: Or perhaps life will take it for you.
Arthak Saurfang says: I wouldn’t be surprised.

On the mainland, Nyxxa meets with Caria, and Levia stumbles into them as well. She seems to be in a better mood, but that drops upon seeing Caria.

Levia Blackflight says: Hey.
Caria Felsoul says: It’s wonderful to meet you. Levia was it?

Caria smiles and extends a hand.

Caria Felsoul says: You may call me Caria. Nyxxa and I go way back.

Levia looks at the hand, and then takes it.

Levia Blackflight says: It’s good to meet you.
Caria Felsoul says: We’re going to have great fun together. All of us. We’re going back to your kindred, yes?
Levia Blackflight says: I suppose so, yeah.
Caria Felsoul says: You don’t seem very enthusiastic.

Levia looks down.

Levia Blackflight says: They didn’t like me that much. They won’t be happy to see me. Just a fair warning.

Caria smiles.

Caria Felsoul says: Oh. That just means this will be more fun. My dear sweet Levia, you’re greater than any of them, that much is obvious.

Levia’s eyebrow raises and she looks at Nyxxa.

Nyxxa says: Oh?
Caria Felsoul says: Of course. They all dance to the lock step of their leader. That Runesight, was it? He’s not half the mage of the man I killed. Belo’vir Salonar. Our fight was glorious, for as short as it was. That they are willing to dance to his tune tells me just how pathetic they are. But you? You. You don’t. Perhaps it’s because of how they treated you, but you are in a unique position. You have something they want.
Levia Blackflight says: And what’s that exactly?
Caria Felsoul says: Us. The favor of two people much, much greater than Runesight could ever possibly be.
Nyxxa says: Plus, well. Some are possibly in the position they feel they have to dance to his tune.
Caria Felsoul says: I’m sure. But now they’ll dance to your tune. Watch when we arrive. You’ll see how fake they are. They will all clamor for your attention. It’s a sign of weakness. Every one of them, every last one, just wants to suckle on the teats of the strong. You’ll see.

Caria smiles, her fangs prominently displayed. She goes to lead the way, and Nyxxa looks at Levia. Levia looks at Nyxxa with a somewhat wide-eyed stare.

Nyxxa says: I do hope she’s right, though.
Levia Blackflight says: If she is, forgive me if I have to vomit somewhere.

Caria storms her way up the Stormreaver Spire, and she enters the area the Shadowsword hang out. She literally throws open the door.

Caria Felsoul says: Greetings, everyone!
Felblood Elf says: My lady. Can we help you?
Caria Felsoul says: I wanted to entertain myself. If any of you can do that, perhaps I’ll grant you my favor.

Many of the younger members of the felblood elves start to talk amongst themselves, and they all stand up. Some of the older members don’t follow, but about a half dozen do put down their things and go, including the one Nyxxa met before, Zaestra.

They go out to the courtyard, and Caria goes to reach for her blades, but she lets go and doesn’t draw them. She looks at the group.

Caria Felsoul says: Lets make this interesting, shall we? Go on.

She beckons to the six felblood elves, and they look at each other. And then they all come at her. She effortless dodges around their blows, catching an arrow and sending it back into the felblood’s kneecap. Zaestra and another mage tries to catch her in a field of energy, but she breaks free effortlessly and knocks them down.

All six of them are splayed out in a matter of moments.

Caria Felsoul says: You’re going to need to try much harder than that.

Four stand up again, including Zaestra, but the others back off. This continues for a bit, and eventually one of the arrows narrowly grazes Caria’s cheek. Caria wipes the blood away, then licks it off her finger.

Caria Felsoul says: Not bad. Not bad.

She points to the young elf who scored the hit. He has long black hair and a dull grey skin with reddish tint. She gestures at him.

Caria Felsoul says: You. You’re interesting. You should come with us. The rest of you, don’t make me laugh. You wouldn’t last five minutes against a real foe.

She turns to look back to Nyxxa and Levia.

Caria Felsoul says: That was less successful than I was hoping.
Zaestra says: Wait! Give me another chance. I can prove myself, I promise.

Caria glances at Nyxxa and Levia.

Caria Felsoul says: What do the two of you think?

Nyxxa looks to Levia.

Nyxxa says: Well, you know her the best.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. I do.
Zaestra says: Levia. You know that everything I said before… we were just joking around. You know that I was one of the most promising of my classes. You know that. You have a great amount of potential you never tapped into. You know I can do this.

Levia looks at Nyxxa for a moment, and her expression looks grim, with rage in her eyes.

Levia Blackflight says: Fine. I think we should give her one more chance, Caria.

Levia steps forward and cracks her knuckles.

Levia Blackflight says: Why don’t you show me that potential, Zaestra. I’m waiting.

Zaestra swallows.

Zaestra says: Of course!

They drop into a stance, and as Zaestra begins to cast a spell, Levia’s eyes go black, and a field of energy ripples around the other felblood elf. Zaestra’s voice cuts off, and her eyes widen. She looks around and begins to move, but then Levia charges her. Black flames wash out from her hand, and it coalesces into a long blade as she engages.

The mage attempts to back off, but Levia grabs her by the robe. She then throws her to the ground and starts to wail on her in the zone of silence. Over and over again. Then Zaestra stops moving.

Nyxxa says: Should we… intervene?

Caria smiles and holds a hand out.

Caria Felsoul says: No. I don’t think we should.

Levia doesn’t stop until she brings the blade up and the blade disappears. There is a bloodied mess beneath her, and Levia gives one last punch to what is left of Zaestra’s face. The rest of the felblood elves backed off to a safe distance, and the aura of silence vanishes.

She takes a few steps backwards, then turns back to Caria and Nyxxa, her eyes black, with the white slowly reappearing.

Nyxxa spies another figure. It’s Selin, watching from the door of the spire. His arms are crossed, and as Levia turns away, he disappears back into the tower, his face blank.

Nyxxa says: I can’t help but feel we stepped on some hooves today.
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t care. She had it coming.
Caria Felsoul says: Well done.

Caria reaches off and puts a hand on her shoulder, but Levia shoves it off.

Levia Blackflight says: Don’t touch me.
Caria Felsoul says: Of course. As you wish.

Caria’s eyes glance to the other felblood elf that she had claimed.

Caria Felsoul says: And what’s your name?
Felblood Elf says: Ithelios, my lady.
Caria Felsoul says: I see. It’s a pleasure. Lets go, I don’t think we’ll find anything else here. Maybe we’ll find others around town, and we can get another display of your prowess, Levia.

Levia says nothing.

Nyxxa says: What did you have in mind?
Caria Felsoul says: There are other felblood elves on patrol or otherwise. Maybe they’ll be more entertaining than the rest of your… former friends.

She glances at Levia.

Caria Felsoul says: What say the four of us see what hell we can raise?
Nyxxa says: I did say I was in your hands, Caria.

Caria smiles and they head into the city. Levia has not made eye contact with Nyxxa since.

On Quel’danas once more, Arthak has gone to seek out Azgadaan.

Azgadaan says: Who is it?
Arthak Saurfang says: Azgadaan. It’s me.

Azgadaan lets him in.

Azgadaan says: Afternoon, Arthak.
Arthak Saurfang says: Afternoon. You’ve been busy.
Azgadaan says: Yes. Making magical items.
Arthak Saurfang says: Useful.
Azgadaan says: Indeed. Once I have more time and money, I’ll be able to make sending stones for most of the ground.
Arthak Saurfang says: Very useful. But not why I’m here, I guess.
Azgadaan says: Do you need anything?
Arthak Saurfang says: No, but I wished to follow up on our last conversation.
Azgadaan says: Alright.
Arthak Saurfang says: Do you have the time?
Azgadaan says: Yes. Better to talk now.
Arthak Saurfang says: Alright. Where to start. About what you said last time. About you being a subordinate. Is that… how you feel?
Azgadaan says: Most of the time.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see. Alright. I’m going to say a few things, Azgadaan. If you can wait until I’m done, that would be appreciated.

Azgadaan nods.

Arthak Saurfang says: Where to begin… ah… I guess I would start with you can’t be my subordinate, Azgadaan. In fact, if you recall, when we first met, I was yours, and technically I believe I still am. I can’t give you an order. Never have been able to. As it stands, I doubt I ever will be able to. You are an eredar prince of the Burning Legion. I am an orc chieftain, yes, but that means little in the dynamic between our people. I can’t order you to do anything. I have no interest in trying to either. The last time I attempted to decide matters for you, I got punched in the face, and rightly so. So let me make this detail clear. If you have an idea and voice it to the rest of us, I will give you my opinion as I always have. I may give it forcefully, but I am an orc. If you choose to do it, I can’t stop you. Your actions are yours. Perhaps it turns out to be the wise choice, perhaps it doesn’t, I don’t know. We’ll do what we think is best, as we always have. That’s the first thing. Second. There is an exception to this. I don’t want to be transformed into something that doesn’t have my mind. It’s my mind. So yes, in this matter, I say no, and I expect you to follow through with that. Not because it’s an order, but because I hope you have some regard for my wishes. Perhaps it would be tactically better, but I want my mind to stay as it is. Beyond that. There is something you should know. For your own good. I’ve been contacted by Lord Rakeesh of the Burning Legion. He has taken an interest in you, Azgadaan. You have a standing offer from him and his master to benefit from their knowledge.

Azgadaan is rubbing at his brows.

Azgadaan says: Thank you for being so candid. I will make my opinions known, and listen to what others have to say, and proceed accordingly in the future. And for your wish to not be transformed, I promise you that even if your life were to end and I have the power to save it with that spell, I will not save you. If that’s the extent of what you wish.
Arthak Saurfang says: If I need it, I will ask. But thank you.
Azgadaan says: And for that last bit… this has been a thorn that I wish not to deal with. What… what would you do in my situation, Arthak?

Arthak sighs heavily.

Arthak Saurfang says: An interesting question. You stand between Lady Shaspira, who I believe if you went to her right now and said ‘give me power’ she would find uses for you and power to give you, and Lord Rakeesh, who would offer you the same, and perhaps more. Power and answers and knowledge on top of it. But you have a good heart, Azgadaan. And thus your situation becomes more complex. I don’t understand you. I never have. But you have a good heart. In your situation, I would take the powers and gifts offered to me, and I would use them to my ends. That is what I would do. But I know my path. I do not think you know yours. I think you still have time yet. To decide between whether you wish to be an eredar prince of the Burning Legion, one with a good heart perhaps, or whether you wish to be a man’ari trying to be a draenei. And with maybe the hope of succeeding. You have so much potential, but you move back and forth between these two forces, and… cooking lessons. Meetings with Samaara. Dalliances with the White Tyrant’s daughter. I can’t decide your path. It’s not mine. I know what I would do, but it’s not what you would do. But people are beginning to notice your potential. Eventually, questions and offers will become demands. And for your sake, you should be ready for that. Please be ready for that.
Azgadaan says: Well. I’m going to do the best I can with what time I have to prepare. And I don’t quite know what decision will be the best, but… I’m going to have to make one soon. And I just hope that it’s one where the people I adore are smiling.
Arthak Saurfang says: ...the eredar that speaks as a draenei.

Azgadaan starts to laugh.

Azgadaan says: I guess so. So, in your opinion, which one should I ally myself with, if any? What’s your take on them? I have a hard time reading people still, but I’m working on it.
Arthak Saurfang says: Hrgh… Do you want to build something, Azgadaan? The way I see it, you could be a champion or a general. A champion fights for something. A general leads in a direction. They build.
Azgadaan says: Hmm…
Arthak Saurfang says: If you want to be a General, I would go to Shaspira or Rakeesh. Whatever your end goals are, take what they have to teach you, the resources they have to give, bend them to your ends. But if you wish to be a champion? I would follow the Ati-kaso wherever they go. And I imagine we both know where they will go.
Azgadaan says: Thank you. I’ll give you an answer at some point in the coming weeks. I imagine that they’ll want an answer soon too.
Arthak Saurfang says: I don’t need an answer, Azgadaan. However you choose, my blade is at your side.
Azgadaan says: Thank you, Arthak. That’ll be handy seeing I can’t summon my own blade anymore.
Arthak Saurfang says: Oh? That’s a change.
Azgadaan says: It happened a few days ago. What remains of that power is sitting in that corner.

Arthak looks at a maul in the corner, and he goes to examine the weapon.

Azgadaan says: I don’t even know what it’s made of. One morning it was just there. And I can’t summon one, nor access my spell bending magics.
Arthak Saurfang says: Times are changing, Azgadaan. And you are with them. It’s a good weapon.
Azgadaan says: Thank you. It’s just going to be difficult bringing it around everywhere now.
Arthak Saurfang says: Welcome to my day today.
Azgadaan says: I look forward to it.
Arthak Saurfang says: Don’t.
Azgadaan says: Well, I need to finish this.
Arthak Saurfang says: Of course. I’ll leave you to it.
Azgadaan says: And thank you again, for coming to see me.
Arthak Saurfang says: Azgadaan. It’s just us left.
Azgadaan says: Out of the original group from Hellfire Citadel?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. Just us.
Azgadaan says: Indeed.
Arthak Saurfang says: So be careful. And choose wisely.
Azgadaan says: You as well.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’ll try.
Azgadaan says: Please don’t lose more parts.
Arthak Saurfang says: Eh. No promises.
Azgadaan says: I’ll be done in a few hours. If we need to go to the mainland tomorrow, I can summon us a boat and we can be there in 8 hours or so I think.
Arthak Saurfang says: I can make inquiries with Halno. See where he stands. We’ll see in the coming day. Be well, prince.
Azgadaan says: Lok’tar.

Arthak gives a half smile and leaves.

Once they were apart from Caria for the night, Nyxxa tries to approach Levia. Levia had not said much at all.

Nyxxa says: I’m sorry I put you in that position today.

Levia shakes her head.

Levia Blackflight says: You’re fine. It wasn’t your fault. I’m the one that went…
Nyxxa says: How are you feeling?
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t know. I don’t know.
Nyxxa says: Do you… want to talk about it?
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t know. I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me. I’m just… everything that she’s done, everything that everyone has ever said to me just came flooding…

Nyxxa places a hand on Levia’s arm.

Nyxxa says: I understand, and I’ve been there before.
Levia Blackflight says: She was right. Caria. Caria was right. As soon as I had power, something they wanted, they just.. Changed their fucking tune. That’s how everyone always was. That’s why everyone joined in the first place. They had something to offer. That’s why our fucking city looks like this. It’s all just a gleaming pile of shit. As soon as something comes around that can offer them something, they sell out everyone that matters every time. It’s just the nature of everyone.
Nyxxa says: Not everyone. Not you.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah… and what good did that do? Everyone saw that. Saw what I did. If they weren’t watching me, they will be now. So is Caria. I’m going to get you in trouble. Everyone in trouble. I’m going to get everyone killed. This always happens.
Nyxxa says: Levia. If you want, we can try to smooth things over with Selin.
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t care. He can come for me if he wants. If he tries to kill me, I’ll just kill him first. I don’t care anymore. I’m sick of hiding. From people like my mother. From people like Orican. From people like the rest of them. I had a younger brother once, you know.
Nyxxa says: I didn’t know that.
Levia Blackflight says: He might still be alive out there. I don’t know. I have no way of knowing. My mother saw fit to that.
Nyxxa says: What did she do?
Levia Blackflight says: She sold him.
Nyxxa says: What?
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. You heard me. She probably would have sold me too, to some fucked up pervert. That’s why I ran. When she found out…

Nyxxa casts see invisibility, and she sees a sensor. It appears to be following Nyxxa. Not Levia.

Nyxxa says: Levia, we should stretch our legs a bit.
Levia Blackflight says: ...shit.
Nyxxa says: But ultimately, at the end of the day. You really only did what a powerful demon bade you to.
Levia Blackflight says: No. I didn’t. That was my choice. That wasn’t her. I can’t pretend that that was her. That was me, and I lived for every fucking second of it. I won’t lie to myself about that.

They walk around for a bit, waiting for the sensor to fade. Eventually, it does.

Nyxxa says: That was actually me this time.
Levia Blackflight says: Who did you piss off?
Nyxxa says: I don’t know… wait. Oh boy. It… could be any number of people. I don’t know which of them can scry, but…
Levia Blackflight says: Well I hope they enjoyed hearing about my fucking backstroy.
Nyxxa says: I’m sorry.
Levia Blackflight says: it’s fine. I’m almost disappointed. Part of me hopes it was my mother. Part of me wants her to be afraid. To be as afraid as I was.
Nyxxa says: You had every right to run. Personally, I think you had every right to do what you did to… her.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. Call that practice. Sorry if I made you worry. That’s not what I was trying to do.
Nyxxa says: I…. I was worried about you. It’s easy to lose yourself that way, Levia. And… I guess something I’ve learned is though revenge can feel good, the worst thing you can do to yourself is let people like that ruin yourself, or lose control of yourself.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. I guess you’re right. Ultimately.
Nyxxa says: The best thing you can really do is not let them control you at all.
Levia Blackflight says: After all, Caria said she was nothing. Now she actually is. So I guess, in a way, you’re right.
Nyxxa says: Just be careful, Levia.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. I’m sure.
Nyxxa says: If it was Selin I pissed off, I would like to smooth things over. You don’t have to, but I will.
Levia Blackflight says: Well. I suppose I can apologize too.
Nyxxa says: We’ll do that tomorrow. Before Arthak and the others head back.
Levia Blackflight says: They should get here the day after tomorrow, so.
Nyxxa says: Lets finish our walk then.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. And get some rest. But you usually don’t like sleeping at night, do you?
Nyxxa says: I can give or take. I can’t tell when the sun’s out anyway.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. Your people were nocturnal then?
Nyxxa says: We still are.
Levia Blackflight says: Strange.
Nyxxa says: Not so bad when you can see in the dark, and worship the moon.
Levia Blackflight says: Well, we can still see in the dark. But we get closer to worshipping the sun. Well. I can’t say I’m really part of them now.
Nyxxa says: There’s something to be said about chafing against a culture so hard you do the exact opposite.
Levia Blackflight says: I guess I’m a poster child for that.
Nyxxa says: You aren’t the first, and you won’t be the last. You are a person of your circumstances.
Levia Blackflight says: I guess we both are.
Nyxxa says: I don’t think I’d be as understanding of a person if these things hadn't happened. I was very much a rigid part of my culture, and I guess it took all this to see how misguided I was in my own way. But it is what it is.

They continue to walk and the conversation turns to companionable silence or less severe topics.

Vaerux says [mentally]: A victim of circumstance? Is that what you think you are? Still?
Nyxxa says [mentally]: Yes, actually.
Vaerux says [mentally]: Of course. Whatever you keep telling yourself.
Nyxxa says [mentally]: I mean, if I’m wrong, enlighten me.
Vaerux says [mentally]: I might have that exact ability, but I don’t want to reveal my hand all at once for nothing. You’ve forgotten a great deal, haven’t you? I’ve been watching. Listening. What do you remember?
Nyxxa says [mentally]: If you’ve been watching and listing, you’d know basically nothing.
Vaerux says [mentally]: You don’t remember anything. So delightfully poetic considering all the things you’ve gone through, and the choices you made. A victim of circumstance? That’s a disservice to your determination. You’re standing where you are because of your choices. Don’t discount your path, that would not be fair.

Nyxxa purses her lips.

Nyxxa says [mentally]: As I said before, if you know something I don’t--and obviously you do.
Vaerux says [mentally]: You don’t get to be as powerful as I was before I was stripped of everything by a group of psychotic cannibals. But I remember a good deal, especially about one of your dearest companions, but my memory is so flimsy at times. Especially when you’re so bored and hungry. You are hungry, aren’t you? You remember our deal, yes? Yet you’ve not made good on it. It’s only a matter of time before someone discovers you for the sham you are. You don’t want to forget more, do you? What if you forget your name? Her? All those little friends? Remnii? Just like you forgot her.

Vaerux cackles.

Vaerux says [mentally]: That’s the best one, the most ironic part. Your name is one thing, but her name is something else entirely.
Nyxxa says [mentally]: What are you talking about?
Vaerux says [mentally]: Nothing. I won’t bother you anymore. After all, your friend looks in need of companionship. Don’t forget her name now. After all, names are powerful, aren’t they?

Vaerux quiets down, and Nyxxa clenches her fists.

Levia Blackflight says: Is everything alright? Did you see something?
Nyxxa says: A bit of a headache.
Levia Blackflight says: Hang on.

She reaches out and touches Nyxxa’s shoulder, and she casts lesser restoration.

Levia Blackflight says: Is that better? I don’t know if that would help.
Nyxxa says: Oh. Thank you. No. It’s…

She casts see invisibility again.

Nyxxa says: Levia, there’s something else I should tell you. Given tonight. I’d ask you not to be… this might frighten you.
Levia Blackflight says: You’re alright.
Nyxxa says: The thing that Caria and I did to become what we are. I haven’t told you what that is, exactly. And if you’re hanging out with Caria she may tell you as well, so it’s information I don’t feel is too dangerous.
Vaerux says [mentally]: Are you sure you want to tell her that? You don’t want her to leave, do you?
Nyxxa says: I told you I was transformed into a satyr, yes?
Levia Blackflight says: yeah. I’m not sure what that means, exactly.
Nyxxa says: It’s a curse. I was… I was transformed and I was angry at the one who did it to me. And then I found them, the group that Caria and I used to be a part of. They taught me things. Taught me how to control using fel magic, be able to get in control of my own sanity, because the curse robs you of it. A normal satyr would be rather insane. But they taught me methods of control, and in the end I completed a ritual to become what I am. Caria did the same, but I don’t remember what she did, but it would have been something similar. I… the satyr that did this to me. I hunted him down and killed him. But it didn’t stop there.

Nyxxa is looking at Levia.

Nyxxa: I consumed his soul. So he wouldn’t be able to reform in the nether.
Levia Blackflight says: ...woah…
Nyxxa says: he’s still here. In my head.
Levia Blackflight says: Oh. So that’s what you meant by headache.
Nyxxa says: I’m sorry, by the way. Ever since you and Samaara helped me with that thing, he’s been louder, which is what I suspected would happen, but…
Levia Blackflight says: You thought I would be afraid of you for that? He doesn’t have any power over you, does he?

Vaerux laughs.

Vaerux says [mentally]: As if she has any power to begin with.
Nyxxa says: He has the power that I give him. Or I think that’s how it works. But… he knows things about me. Or he claims to. Satyrs are liars by nature, so I have no reason to believe he would be honest if I listened to his demands.
Vaerux says [mentally]: Smart girl.
Levia Blackflight says: Well, if you were worried about that, I’m not going to be scared of you because you one upped my display back there, even if it was years ago.
Nyxxa says: Well, that’s what I meant when I said I understand.
Levia Blackflight says: Can he hear me?
Nyxxa says: Yes.
Levia Blackflight says: Hey. Fuck off. You lost. Get over it. Scram. Did he hear that?
Vaerux says [mentally]: FUCK YOU.
Nyxxa says: Yes. He said to fuck you.
Levia Blackflight says: Maybe he could if he had a body.

Vaerux curses again.

Nyxxa says: You’re worse than me.
Levia Blackflight says: He wouldn’t hear the end if it was me. Did he taste good?
Nyxxa says: No.
Levia Blackflight says: Ah. That makes sense.
Nyxxa says:' Though another side effect of what I did recently, is despite how awful it tastes, I’ve been… craving it.
Levia Blackflight says: ...huh. That’s kind of hardcore, I’m not going to lie.
Nyxxa says: I’m glad you’re taking this so well.
Levia Blackflight says: Well. Yeah. It’s a bit weird, but… wait, does that mean me too? Don’t answer.
Nyxxa says: I also haven’t told Azgadaan. He wouldn’t take it well.
Levia Blackflight says: Yeah. I suppose. But it’s fine. He has no control over you.
Nyxxa says: About that. If I do act out of sorts, it’s something to be aware of.
Levia Blackflight says: Then I’ll just have to kick your ass.
Nyxxa says: Yes. I also warned Arthak, and I should warn the rest…
Levia Blackflight says: I don’t think you need to worry too much, Nyxxa. You’re strong.
Nyxxa says: Thank you.
Levia Blackflight says: Right. We should get some sleep. Sorry if you aren’t able to.
Nyxxa says: It wouldn’t be the first time he’s kept me up all night. And if I start talking to myself, pay no mind.
Levia Blackflight says: It wouldn’t be the weirdest thing I saw, I guess.

As Nyxxa is trying to rest, a thought passes into her mind. When she was at the fountain. The person she remembered being with. She doesn't remember a name, a face, or a voice. But it was another woman. Like Caria. Maybe that was what Vaerux was trying to torment her with.

On the last day before leaving, as Arthak is turning in for the evening, he hears something behind him. Before he can turn around, he feels something bump into the square of his back. It stays there.

Arthak turns his head, and he sees the bushy, wild hair of Azuka. Her forehead is planted right between his shoulder blades. She mutters something, but it gets lost in his back.

Arthak waits, and after a moment, she repeats what she said.

Azuka says: I said I’ll do it. I’ll do it.

Her thin arms wrap around Arthak’s, and she gives him a hug from behind, but doesn’t let him turn around.

Arthak Saurfang says: I’m glad. Then I think I have another name for you.
Azuka says: What do you mean?
Arthak Saurfang says: One to mark you. Who you are, who you’re going to be. And that you’re a part of my legacy, but something of your own. So if you’ll have it, I have a second name for you.

Azuka just waits.

Arthak Saurfang says: I name you Azuka Stormbreaker.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: It’s always names with you.
Arthak Saurfang says: Names are important. And I want you to have one that’s just yours.
Azuka Stormbreaker says: That’s stupid.

She buries her face a bit more into Arthak’s back.

Arthak Saurfang says: So am I.

From inside, Sadras peers out, and she sees the arms wrapped around, and she smiles at Arthak. Arthak gives her a somewhat scared smile. Sadras winks before turning and heading back in.

Arthak glances back at Azuka.
